Well, you've read the notes, the notes were in mono, and now it is time for you to post until the mono cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: LAGNIAPPE!
-
I added Leonard Soloway’s Broadway to my Amazon Watchlist. :) Sounds interesting, and I'd love to see Debbie Gravitte's interview.
-
Bk, about the CD that contains both film music and classical music of the unnamed composer...when do you expect to announce that one?
-
That wouldn't be until Christmas.
-
Thanks. I'm sure that it'll be worth the wait!
-
Off to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
DR TCB, I am sorry you are under the weather. I do hope your Covid comments are not serious.
-
Today is the 72nd birthday of my brother Macbeth, and that's all I have to say about it.
-
This morning at 10 I see my new barber for the second time. I hope it's an easy walk. Yesterday was a tough day for mobility.
-
We thoroughly enjoyed the Leonard Soloway documentary.
-
Last night, we watched a weird Glenn Gould documentary. I can't even think of the name of it at this point. It was weird because it contained long segments in Russian, French, and Chinese with no subtitles. The sections featuring Gould himself were wonderful. He was such an eccentric.
-
We are expecting more snow here today. I am so thrilled not to have to slog out to work!
-
~~~VIBES OF COMFORT AND HEALING~~~ for DR TCB!
-
BK, I don't know your feelings about Malcolm Arnold's music, but an opera commissioned by BBC television and then rejected for being too racy has been recorded.
-
~~~VIBES OF HEALING~~~ for our country, too. Some people (who shall remain nameless) are not making it easy.
-
Interesting, DR elmore3003.
-
Thanks for the heads up about the Barber compilation, bk.
-
TCB, do you have covid? Do you have anyone who can help you?
-
TOD
Wizard of Oz
Meet Me In St Louis
Summer Stock
Easter Parade

I have never understood the "Judy" cult. I do not swoon over her recordings, but I do think she was very talented. I do, however, think the footage of her aborted Annie Get Your Gun is an embarrassment.
I especially like these films she made:
The Wizard of Oz
Meet Me In St Louis
The Pirate
Judgment at Nuremberg
A Star Is Born
-
Good morning, all.
-
Mega-vibes for TCB!
-

The Wizard of Oz

The Trolley Song
For Me and My Gal

I felt the same about Judy as BK. Zellweger’s performance was an underdirected mess of tics and irritations, coy and unsubtle.
-
Today we record episode 17 of Conversations With Jack - wherein I interview our directors for 2021 and talk about their shows....as we optimistically announce the season.
We shall see what happens.
-
I enjoyed reading about the recording MR BK is listening to....and I am excited to hear about the two new titles.......and The Project.
-
I shall be on my way in an hour or so.
-
Hello, 12 guests!
-
I love my new barbershop. This was my second visit, and I arrived early since I never know how much time it will take me to walk the half block.

-
Good morning, all.
-
I hope TCB was kidding about Covid.
-
DR Jrand70, I first read that as recording take 17 instead of episode 17.
-
Good morning!
-
I enjoyed "Judy" and thought Renee Z did a great job. I do think that they should have had her lip synch to Judy's vocals.
-
Vibes for TCB!
-
I had intended to see Judy, but I haven't yet.
I looked over her filmography, and the number of very famous films that I've never seen is amazing. I can only really account for these, which I do like:
The Wizard of Oz
Meet Me in St. Louis
Judgment at Nuremburg
A Star is Born (more or less)
I look forward to re-seeing A Child is Waiting. I went to it as a kid (I'm not sure what attracted me to it then) but I don't remember anything of it except for being there, and it's held my curiosity ever since.
-
My night's sleeps have ranged from the ridiculous to the sublime lately. Last night, I'm afraid, was one of the former. I was fine till three o' the clock, then was suddenly wide awake with every imaginable demon running to and fro in my brain. Then, just for comic relief, I had a sudden allergy-like attack, sneezing and blowing my nose for half an hour.
I don't think I'm going to try to fit a nap in anytime today (and I can never be sure I'll actually fall asleep for one, anyway), but I shall look forward to a mighty correction tonight. I think it will also be a Benadryl night.
-
DR vixmom, how was Texas Roadhouse in regard to social distancing, etc.? Wow, I haven't been there in forever now. Have to do something about that.
-
Looks like this is our last of these beautiful temperatures with no rain. Some is expected tomorrow afternoon. I'm going out in a bit to do another leaf-blowing. I'm surrounded by trees, and I swear half the leaves are still on the damned things. The fall is a never ending round of chores here.
After I've done that, I'll give the grass what should be its last mowing of the season. But I've said that before. I think we've had an extended autumn this year, especially with this Indian Summer type weather. I don't recall having one so late in the year.

I think Judy is better than the movie A Star Is Born as a whole.

Meeting after meeting today. No time to think.
-
MEGA HEALTH VIBES TO DR TCB!
-
DR TCB will you be getting tested for covid and for antibodies?
-
And today's edition of HHW is brought to you by Sesame Street:
A Mono-mena Affair
-
I'm up, I'm up - seven hours of sleep.
-
President-elect Biden's press conference is in progress. Give 'em hell, Joe!
-
I'm almost surprised to say "I got it all done".
I must have spent close to two hours leaf blowing. Sounds incredible, no? Trust me. And hell, there's more to do later. Then, mowing the two yards (the conventional one around the house, and the large septic field) takes about 50 minutes, all told. Somewhere in there was a trip to the gas station to refill a couple of cans.
And it felt like summer. No, NICER than summer. Not too warm, and not humid. I'd like to keep it. Sadly, the party's over sometime tomorrow.
-
This is the last evening to sit on the deck, sipping and supping, and I believe I'll have that DR Matthew-inspired cigar.
-
Well, this is...interesting: Matthew Morrison Goes Green to Play the Grinch in Filmed Musical, Airing on NBC This December (https://news.yahoo.com/matthew-morrison-goes-green-play-171816412.html). ::)

This sounds interesting. I just ordered it and will find out. :)

Hope it goes/went well, Jrand!

I daily check the animals brought into the NY Animal Care Centers. Most of the animal in their intake photos look frightened, insecure, lost, or angry, but occasionally there's the exception. This is 5-year old (estimated) Tallulah, who entered the Brooklyn shelter today. I love her confidence.
-
Love Malcolm Arnold and will definitely get that.
-
Picked up a package, ate a frozen dinner that was merely okay but very low in calories - went to have a second frozen dinner but that one even smelling it was so gross I threw it out and am making the last of the Regina pizzas - even if I eat all of it it only puts me less than 200 calories over the 1000, which is fine.

DR vixmom, how was Texas Roadhouse in regard to social distancing, etc.? Wow, I haven't been there in forever now. Have to do something about that.
Very good, they take your cell # and have you wait in your car and text you when your table is ready.
They are seating in such a way that the booths in front, behind and next to you are empty
All employees are wearing masks, properly. And guests may only remove their masks when they are at table
-
Tallulah is a beautiful tux cat!
-
Why do you torture yourself so, DR elmore3003?
-
I never look, because I know I would want them all.
-
Oh, lookie - PAGE FOUR!

Ditto to this difficult challenge. People are so angry that even when you agree with them politically they attack you when you ask them to stop the hate & anger :(

It sounds like they are taking excellent precautions. We still wouldn't eat inside but that is just us.

I never look, because I know I would want them all.
I used to do it all the time and finally stopped.

This sounds sort of like what they were doing here this summer before the restaurants had to close again at the end of September when we went into the red zone. :(
My parents went a bunch of times on outdoor terraces, one time inside, and for pizza every week at an indoor small mall with few people. But I agree with DR Jane I just wasn't comfortable doing the indoor.
-
I have to tell you.
-
And I just did.
-
And boy, are my arms tired.
-
The DH is listening to some Korngold arias. My, some of them are quite beautiful.

Oh, lookie - PAGE FOUR!
Oh, lookie -- looks like GOP ballot counting.
-
I have been watching the last night performance of The Prom. Interesting how the show changed from the first version I posted, which was during the out-of-town tryout. It found its heart and fleshed out some of the characters. it's still far from perfect, but it's easier to see why some people really fell for the show.
-
I don't know what I'll do tonight. I think I just want to sleep. I may try to read my book.
-
Alexa is playing me some Matthew Arnold.
-
That's very nice of her.
-
All I had to do was ask.
-
And pray that she understands what I'm asking for.
-
Sometimes her English is worse than my Mandarin.

Just got a text that our office is closed tomorrow, one of the staff has been diagnosed with covid-19
-
Office is being sanctified and we are all instructed to get a rapid test tomorrow
-
It is not being sanctified no matter what spellcheck tells you
-
It is being sanitized
-
Though I suppose a blessing or two wouldn’t go amiss
-
Oh, lookie - PAGE FOUR!
I weren’t born yesterday , yer caint fool me

This here is page three

Are you sure that's not "satanized"?

~~~HEALTH AND SAFETY VIBES~~~ for DR vixmom and her co-workers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gosh, that's alarming.
We still wouldn't eat inside but that is just us.
Nor would we. In fact, other than to buy groceries or walk about a bit, we don't leave the house.
-
Alexa is playing me some Matthew Arnold.
Matthew Arnold, Malcolm Arnold... all the Arnolds are making music today on HHW!
-
This classical theme has been driving me crazy for a few years - I couldn't figure out what it was from. The "Miss Marple" theme from the BBC (the series with Joan Hixon and Julia McKenzie) is reminiscent of it. In any case, I couldn't place it. It appeared again in last night's Glenn Gould documentary. Well, I finally figured out what it is: the opening theme from Schubert's Eighth Symphony. What a joyous theme!
Yes. That theme is a joy.
You got that right. This time.
-
Vibes for your coworker, Vixmom, and all of you.
-
Got word today that they had to close the children’s developmental center at church today because a worker tested positive for covid. The worker had not been there yesterday and tested negative last week, so they’re optimistic that none of the kids were exposed. But time will tell.
-
FOUR...
Are you sure?
:D
Thank you for the vibes guys
The few regular places that I go have distanced seating and very few tables, in general. But, I haven't felt uncomfortable. I also don't crowd around or with other people or go to very crowded places.
Here's another video, this one from Scrooge, on how I feel about the results of the recent election. ;D
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dkq7WZTzkLQ (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dkq7WZTzkLQ)
(And my thought is that Scrooge represents tRumps's presidency, not trump himself...because he's not dead, just his presidency. ;) )
Not to get political or anything. ::)
I shall. :)
Although, I have some DVDs that I still need to send out to people. :-\
-
And now, I need to leave work and go home. Tomorrow's Veteran's Day, so no work!
Be back later.
-
Gratuitous post No. 111!
-
I think I’m headed to Louisville the day the Grinch airs.
-
Just read a 130 pages or so in my middling Maugham novel, Catalina. I have 100 pages to. Maybe tomorrow. It’s set during the Inquisition (nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition) and it’s all arch.
-
Fell asleep for an hour, did some work on the Kritzerland show, and then did a Gelson's run and have stuff here now to make for a few days, including a Wolfgang Puck Caesar for tomorrow.
-
Also bought more salsa, tortillas, soup, rice, pasta, and eggs.
-
Got word today that they had to close the children’s developmental center at church today because a worker tested positive for covid. The worker had not been there yesterday and tested negative last week, so they’re optimistic that none of the kids were exposed. But time will tell.
I hope all is good.
-
I still receive emails from my Ashland hiking group about the weekly hikes. According to my recent email the church this group is part of has requested members to avoid gatherings, even when wearing masks, for the next 2 weeks.
-
I hope DR TCB is feeling better and will be able to stop by.
Ditto and Ditto!
five~~~~~
-
I am not quite understanding having just gotten to page five, oh no, I am not understanding that. Perhaps I won't post the new topic for awhile because 121 posts is rather, well, irritating.
-
Hopefully, Tom is feeling better and will show up...if not tonight, at least tomorrow.
-
Sorry I am just watching to see if Tom posts.
-
I am reading TO DANCE WITH THE WHITE DOG by Terry Kay.
-
I am about to drift off to sleep.
-
I am reading TO DANCE WITH THE WHITE DOG by Terry Kay.
I'm reading the last Harry Dresden novel, Battle Ground (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0867ZMV2S/).
-
It takes place moments after the end of Peace Talks (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B082S1N87S/), so it's not a stand-alone novel.
-
They were both released this year, just two months apart from each other.
-
I don't know if this is going to be the end of the series, but Jim Butcher is probably setting it up that it could be...or not.
-
::)
-
It's funny that ALL of the covers of the books show Harry with a hat, but the character has NEVER been described wearing a hat...ever!
-
(https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/512az-KY8TL.jpg)
-
(https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/51MbnJn3JOL.jpg)
-
In the books, he does have the staff and the coat (duster), but not the hat.
-
I wonder if it was so that the early cover illustrator(s) didn't want to give him a face, and it just stuck as an image of Harry.
-
The comic versions don't give him a hat:
-
I've never read any of the graphic novels, just the original novels.
-
My sister has also read all of them.
-
She told me about them, but I never started reading them until I got my first Kindle.
-
I've now read every one of them. :)
-
They're very violent, but it's magic and monster violence, so it's not real.
-
As well as vampire and werewolf violence.
-
But still, Jim Butcher is very descriptive about all the violence. :o
-
But the books are very well written.
-
And I really like them.
-
And now that we're so close...
