Well, you've read the notes, the notes remembered the end of November, and now it is time for you to post until the remembering cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: AMBIENT!
-
Can't wait for the new Kritzerland show, BK! Many of your regulars PLUS Klea Blackhurst, Liz Callaway, Liz Larsen AND Sal Viviano? It's going to be great! :D
-
I'm off to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
Welcome, DR fanandcollector!
-
My 4 day holiday is at an end! :-X
-
Good morning, all!
-
I woke at 5:00, and I could not get back to sleep. At 5:55 I decided to hell with it, and got up. I vaguely remember one dream, and I think my friend Todd Buonapane who sang "I'm Getting Myself Ready For You" in The New Yorkers was in it. We were working on some sort of display in the apartment building next to mine and I was working in papier mache.
-
DR Matthew, I'm happy that your move is accomplished and that you and the boys likie your new home.
-
DR Jrand70, you look so wonderful ion that snazzy jacket.
-
BK, I have a memory that Corsaro-Sendak production of Hansel and Gretel began at the Juilliard School and that it got a PBS broadcast. Corsaro was "the" opera director in the 1970s, particularly at City Opera. I read his book when it was first published in 1978 but I have no memory now of where it is or what was its content.
-
Corsaro was the director of Tennessee Williams' The Night of the Iguana, and Bette Davis had him sacked. The next day, after Corsaro had left, Davis walked onstage and said, I can still smell him.
-
DR Jeanne, I posted this trailer before, but here it is again!

Good morning, all.
-
Last day of November? Impossible, I say!
-
That’s a wonderful Bette Davis line.
-
TOD
None, to the best of my knowledge.
-
A year ago this week we were preparing to open the third run of that smash hit, Wreck the Halls. It’s hard to believe that two (2) years haven’t elapsed since then, given all that has transpired. The performing lifestyle seems so far away.

Hey everyone....there's a new Broadway Radio Show up. It's the first of several Holiday Gift Guide for 2020 episodes. This time I am chatting with Barry Anderson of the songwriting team Anderson & Petty about their holiday album WISH as well as their upcoming virtual concert benefiting Acting For Others. Check it out on the radio show page....and don't forget to explore the archive section for more fun and entertaining shows! Happy Holidays!!! Donald

Delirious ear worm time ...
I gave up eggs
And turkey legs
With corned beef hash I’m all through.
Cause I’m getting myself ready for you-oo.
-
Thanks, Donald!
-
I enjoyed reading about DR JANE's chat last night!
-
Congrats to DR MATTHEW & Co. on their new abode.
-
Continued Project Two and Important Envelope Vibes for MR BK.
-
This afternoon is the appointment wherein my chopper will hopefully get a repair and I will NOT expire in the chair.
-
I AMBIENT in more ways than my psychiatrist could handle.
-
Jane, The Dangerous Christmas of Red Riding Hood is an odd Jule Styne-Bob Merrill TV musical with Liza Minnelli, Cyril Richard, Vic Damone and The Animals as the Wolf Pack. It’s a retelling of Red Riding Hood as told from the Wolf’s perspective. If your idea of the wolf is an animal longing to let his inner drag queen out, then you have some idea of how strange it all is. But I love a few of the songs.
-
One more ...
-
Two!
-
TCB, I don’t get TV channels, so I haven’t seen any Hallmark movies yet. Maybe when I get to Louisville.

I'M NOT HAPPY WITH AMAZON
Sometime last year, I published my screenplay, "THE STAR KILLER: The Movie Hollywood Was Afraid to Make" on Amazon.
Today, as part of my holiday promotions, I did a search for that title on Amazon, but it didn't come up. Indeed, the ONLY way I could find the title was via the link I'd saved when I'd first published it.
I don't know if this was an accident on Amazon's part, or if somebody in their vast crew didn't like the subject matter and censored it.
I know. That sounds a bit paranoid, but...
In any event, if you enjoy a good thriller, go to this link and get a copy of THE STAR KILLER. I think you'll enjoy it.

Are you having a hard time sitting still or focusing on whatever you’re supposed to be doing? You can thank the fast-paced Gemini full moon and lunar eclipse for this flighty energy, as it encourages you to explore all of your options.

I really like that invisible tree with the ornaments in yesterday's posts.

Yesterday DR Jane wrote:
They are all in quarantine even though only one of the children tested positive. Disconcerting is that she did see her grandparents before becoming symptomatic.
Hopefully they were either outside, all wearing masks or they didn't hug and kiss. Do you if the grandparents have gotten tested?
Btw super cute about her granddaughter.

I think they were inside wearing masks. Our friend wasn't there since her ex took the kids. I am sure when the the grandparents will test to see if they have the virus. Our friend, her boyfriend, & his son are all negative :)
-
The ex had purchased home kits you send by express mail and also gave some to our friend. He had them with him on the trip and I am sure gave some to his parents. They unfortunately came in handy.

I received my first Christmas card today.

Good afternoon!

It's a rainy day in the DC area.
-
Welcome to new DR fanandcollector!

My friend Todd recently interviewed John Yap for Cabaret Scenes:

I received my first Christmas card today.
My first always comes from Wales arriving before Thanksgiving.

Very sweet.
-
I just walked to the mailbox on the corner to post my bills. The corner has once again become Christmas Tree Lane until Dec. 24. It put me in a holiday mood, so I rushed home to play my latest Christmas album.
-
:))
-
That's excellent!
-
Boy, is this a hellishly rainy day to stay in from. Sadly (very sadly), at some point I have to take the trash cans down to the road. I don't even know what I'll put on to do that. I haven't owned an actual raincoat in decades. I guess my trench coat is the closest thing to a real raincoat, and it will have to do. Now, as to my feet... who knows.
-
I'm up, I'm up - probably seven and a half hours of sleep - restless sleep, but maybe I even got closer to eight.
-
Monday afternoon greetings! It’s snowing here in SW Ohio, but not amounting to much. Good day to stay in and putter. So far, I’ve put together a Christmas stocking for Charlotte and addressed a sympathy card to a friend who lost her mother to COVID-19 on Saturday. Talk about the full emotional spectrum...

I was lucky to get to the mailbox during a dry spell. The temperature was really warm.

Good afternoon.
-
My car wouldn't start this morning. Luckily, it was when I was going to go to the church with my buckets to water plants. My DH took my daughter to work this morning.
-
DH got the car started, so I went straight to the mechanic. It turned out to be a leaking battery. The battery was under warranty, so it turned out I was lucky indeed.
-
But kind of a waste of a day.
-
That Red Riding Hood with Liza sounds ... amazing.
-
DR Laura, if we could reroute today's rain to you, that desert would be in full bloom in no time.

I looked at the radar and saw a "quiet" spot coming our way, and I got the trash down there with the assistance of my good friends the trench coat and umbrella. Even in the light rain at that time, it was a soaking walk.

;D And very honorable of the people to pay their debt.

Just do multiple layers under the trench coat, wear hoods and hats, then change as soon as you get back inside.

Yes, the extremes. Stay strong through the holidays and skip in person family time.

Yes, we’re about 99.9% sure we’re not going to Illinois for Christmas :'(

Lots of emotions DR GINNY .... indeed.
-
$3900......in my mouth.
I shall have to wait until the dividend comes in.....and then probably do half in the next couple of months.....and the other half with the next dividend IF ANY.
-
But there you are......hopefully I will live long enough that I get my money's worth out of those new choppers.
-
Had an egg on a bagel sandwich to tide me over until I'm home this evening. I shall now be on my way to hopefully pick up packages and do the thing.
-
I'm staying home but I may also do the thing.....time will tell.
-
DR Jrand70 - was your chopper the one featured in Miss Saigon?
-
Very good to see DR Donald touting his wares on here. So to speak.
-
~~~DOING THE THING VIBES~~~ for bk today.
-
I am sorry to hear about your holiday plans, DR Ginny. Sad to say, there's a lot of that going around.
-
Glad you had a warranty, DR Laura.
Between Flora, the Red Menace and Dangerous Christmas of Little Red Riding Hood, Liza was in danger of being typecast.
A wise decision. I'm going to Louisville next week, but not sure how wise a decision it is.
You can watch it on YouTube:
The sounds is crappy, but it's fairly crappy on my copy, too.
It's been absolutely bright and shiny today, but it's getting down into the 20s tonight, and I have a few plants I need to save from that.
Ooof Jack I am sorry to hear that
It has been pouring and windy all day
Just watched a silent version of A Christmas Carol from 1910. Scrooge shows up at the Cratchits' place with a goose that's huge, head still on and it hasn't been plucked. They won't be eating that bird for many, many hours to come. And Scrooge is slapping his knee it's so funny. It's like the unrepentant Scrooge had shown up and was playing a practical joke on the family. Tiny Tim should have hit him with his crutch.
-
It's part of a disc of silent Christmas films that date back to 1901. And they have great titles like "Santa Claus vs. Cupid," "A Trap for Santa" and "The Adventure of the Wrong Santa Claus."
-
Thanks, everyone. Not unexpected. I haven't spent any money in my mouth for a couple of decades so it wasn't going to be an easy fix.
DR singdaw I don't think it's the same chopper - but it could be it had to go out on tour......
I am back from my book discussion, not that I had far to go. Since there were only four of us, and one of the other three lives in my building, we had the meeting in the breezeway in front of my unit. It was comfortable outside at the beginning of the meeting. By the end we decided the next meeting will be via Zoom.
-
Hey all. It was back to work. As much as its "All Hands on Deck", there are still faculty/staff who haven't really got the message. Kind of frustrating. Other than that, it's been a lovely day and I'm finally happy to be home with the boys for the evening (and more work to be done!)
-
We have finished The Queen's Gambit and are continuing with The Crown.
-
We stopped watching The Crown this season. From the reviews & complaints I have been reading I am glad we stopped.
We enjoyed The Queen's Gambit very much.
-
Mandalorian is a favorite.
-
I am looking forward to the return of Call the Midwife.
-
Bruce I am curious what shows you think look alike?
Never mind. I probably wouldn't know them anyway.
-
We have also been watching Start Trek: Discovery.
-
Hauled out my Johnny Cash Christmas specials, which I haven't watched in a couple of years. The first features Roy Clark and Tony Orlando as guest stars.
-
Wow, no posts for a long time.
-
Where is everyone?
-
Not posting, that's for sure.
-
I must off to bed.
-
It was an evening of Frosty and Rudolph while writing Christmas cards.
-
I have only a few left to write.
-
And I won't get many replies until after I get back in January.
-
I made it to the post office today and got the cards for Germany mailed off.
-
I hope they get there by Easter.
-
One more ...
-
Five!
-
Good night, all.
-
Back from the thing, which, as you may have surmised, was our shoot of Doug's playlet. We began right at five, diving into all the scenes where the lead gal is young - most people who are doing these are doing them more as plays, with a wide master, then coverage and stuff. That was never going to be in the cards for me, since it doesn't interest me. But the play is a memory play that goes back and forth between an older lady giving an interview, and her memories of what she's talking about. So, we shot all the young scenes first. I'd already figured out most of the shots with the idea of simplicity, since each show has five hours to shoot. All the young scenes are two characters, save for two, where there's the third character of their teenage kid. I got not too wide two-shots and close-ups, one of which I was able to shoot with a second camera while getting the wide shot, which really saved time. Then we shot the reverse close-up for each of those little scenes. It all went very smoothly.
Then we took about a twenty-minute break to get her in the older makeup and costume. Then we shot those five short scenes, with a two-shot and two close-ups. I also did two special angle shots, which I think will work well, and several inserts. Hopefully, it's everything. We did the whole thing, including the twenty-minute break, in three-and-a-half hours.
-
I came home and ordered some mac-and-cheese with chicken and asparagus from a really good jernt not too far from here, so that should arrive in the next twenty minutes or so.
-
I hope they get there by Easter.
;D
-
I send few cards anymore. Most of them go to the UK. I had better get them mailed soon.
-
Bruce, I am glad your day went well.
-
Good evening.
-
Hello, George.
-
The other day, I was driving around running errands. I had the all-Christmas music channel on the radio. At one point, SILENT NIGHT began to play. It was the most horrible voice I had ever heard. I figured it was a joke.
-
Hi, Tom and Jane.
-
:o I wonder who it could've been!
-
When I came to a red light, I had enough time to look over to the radio to see who was destroying one of my favorite carols. The radio proclaimed, Frank Sinatra!. Frank Sinatra? I sat there staring at my radio until the cars behind me started honking.
-
The only thing I could figure out Is that it was recorded at the hospital ICU unit directly after administering the last rites, and just before he flatlined. It was truly horrible.
I was never really a fan, but he had a good voice! I can't imagine him sounding bad on any recording.
-
Well! That is all I’ve got. So, good night, George.
-
The discovery it was Sinatra doesn't surprise me, not if it was recorded in hks ñare years
'night
Good night, Tom.
Umm, Jane...is that supposed to be "later" years??
That's one really weird autocorrect! :o
;)
-
So, I've been reading the epub version of "Troubled Blood" by Robert Galbraith (aka J.K. Rowling) that I got from my library's OverDrive.
-
Normally, I would only check out a book if it's available in a Kindle edition, but for some reason, this is only available in epub.
-
Books 1, 3 and 4 of the Cormoran Strike series are still available in Kindle, but 2 and 5 are not! What's that all about??
-
Book 2 used to be available in Kindle, because that's how I read it. I don't know why it's no longer available in the Kindle version.
-
Anyway, since I have to read book 5 on my tablet through the Libby app, a comfortable font size makes it 902 screens (pages) when I hold my tablet vertically! That's a LONG book!
-
I checked it out for the maximum of 21 days and I now have less than two days left to finish it...but I'm only 41% of the way through!
-
However, I had the idea to take screen captures of all the pages so that when the book is returned, I can continue to read the book!
-
I finally finished the screen capturing tonight and it pretty much worked...except when I forgot to capture individual pages in a chapter. ::)
-
PAGE SIX TROUBLED BLOOD DANCE!!
(https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/51FicgHedJL.jpg)
-
There were only a couple of pages that I missed, so to make it easy on me, I deleted the incomplete chapters and just recaptured them so that I had the whole chapter with the chapter numbers at the beginning because there are no page numbers.
-
Even though I haven't turned on my tablet's wi-fi, I don't yet know if the book will actually go away. The Libby app does show that I have less than two days left on the checkout, so it might automatically delete it.
-
I'll find out soon enough. ;)
