Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of a new opera, and now it is time for you to post until the operatic cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: MITZVAH!
-
Topic of the Day: some of the best online streaming shows have been the Kritzerland shows. They're so well done, and professionally produced, and overall have great sound! Can't wait for the holiday show!!
-
In addition to the Kritzerland shows, I've enjoyed some of the National Theatre Live productions that've been streamed on YouTube, as well as the shows from "The Show Must Go On." Both of those show productions that were filmed and produced to be shown in the movie theaters around the world, so they're not the same as the online specific shows. But one of my most favorite was "Take Me to the World - A Sondheim 90th Celebration"...mostly because it's all Sondheim. :)
-
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!

I knew I was getting up at 5:15, so I turned off the lights around 8:30, and some time after 11:30 I fell asleep. Around 3:30 I woke, drank some water, and Annabelle joined me. I slept badly the rest of the night, but I'm up, I've had breakfast and taken my meds, and fed the cats. Around 8:45 I will leave for my appointment.

~~~TRANSPORTATION AND TEST VIBES~~~ for DR elmore3003
-
TOD: What DR George said. :)
-
That Yiddisher opera of bk's sounds like quite the magnum opus!
-
Last night we watched A Christmas Gift from Bob, which was based on the book A Gift from Bob. The movie reduces the book's December 2011(?) turmoil of sickness, vet bills, unemployment, struggle to keep the gas and electricity meters paid up and functioning by selling enough issues of The Big Issue as well as covering the rent and food, and a government inquiry into whether Bob should be removed from James' custody to a 90-minute government attempt to remove Bob from James' custody.
I liked it, but I wish its aim to be family-friendly hadn't glossed over the harsher aspects of James' struggle to keep himself and Bob alive.
-
Luke Treadaway is wonderful and the late great Bob is a true star.
-
Just saw this. Sounds like it could be either horrible or wonderful. Intriguing possibilities of flavor combinations.
ALMOND COOL WHIP COOKIES
Ingredients:
1 box cake mix, any flavor you like
8 oz. Cool Whip
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract (you could use others, like almond or peppermint)
Mix all ingredients together. Using a small cookie scoop, form dough balls. Batter is sticky, so you'll want to rinse off the scoop every 3 or 4. Roll the dough balls in powdered sugar. Place on a cookie sheet and bake at 350 for 13 minutes.
-
Wishing my Jewish friends a happy Hanukka!
-
I am having the hardest time staying awake now.
-
That's understandable, DR elmore3003.
-
Was very happy, and relieved, to read that DR John G. (and companion) arrived safely at their destination.
-
Yesterday, I finished the first draft of the 34th (?) play in THE HOLLYWOOD LEGENDS collection.
I think it's the 34th. With the way the world is now, it's difficult to keep track of anything.
I'll sit on it for a few days...let my wife read it...then I'll look at it again.
Once published, this entry should raise a few eyebrows.
-
T.O.D.
I don't go to the movies any more, and I can't think of anything I've seen on TV that has made enough of an impression that I remember it.
We did watch 1917 on cable about a week ago, and I did like that.
But that was a 2019 film.
-
I know who the 35th (?) play is going to be.
I just have to get up the energy to write it.
::)
-
Energy vibes for DR DRUXY.
-
I, too, am looking forward to MR BK's Yiddisher opera.....in fact I want to direct it.....and I have a wonderful concept.....that will certainly highlight my wokeness if not my Id.
-
I enjoyed DR singdaw's Christmas light story last night.....
-
TOD:
I always enjoy the Kritzerland Shows......A Christmas Carol featuring ME was okay.....but I haven't watched much else on the computer.....like DR GEORGE I saw some of the National Theatre productions, but.....I just don't have the patience for many of them.....
I don't think there is any NEW program that I have found that I like.....and some of my old favorites have turned.....out....badly.
I liked The Neighborhood - I watched it Monday night - and it has suddenly become Sit Com 101 in the worst sense. I could hardly believe my eyes and ears..... I hate the A/B type of sitcom story telling although it can be done well. BUT this was just awful....I felt sorry for the actors who had spent two seasons developing their characters and having good scripts....and suddenly - it's I MARRIED JOAN....which at least only had ONE story per script....
-
Good morning, all.
-
Did anyone watch the Grinch last night?
-
Elektra, after one viewing, is all drama, so I think it’s as much about the visual as the music.
-
Discovering the Met Opera casts has been a treasure for me this year.
-
I did get to see Emma. at the movie theater and Sting onstage in The Last Ship, which were highlights.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Last night I had a radical idea. It embodied both an epiphany and a solution to a problem.
Since I've only seen one or two of Fellini's films, but I have those and several others right here, I've made the momentous decision to
...wait for it...
begin watching them.
-
Feel free to alert the media if you must. These moments don't come along every day.
-
The media has been notified DR CHAS SMITH.
-
Is this Broadway thing on NBC tonight something OTHER than performances from Broadway shows that were previously on the TODAY SHOW......and real appearances or ZOOM faces of my "favorite" Broadway stars?
-
I may have to wash my hair instead.
-
Vibes for a good CT scan experience for DR Elmore!
-
Thursday morning greetings!
Did anyone watch the Grinch last night?
Yes :P
-
Our task for today: get 2 boxes ready to send to Illinois and take them to the post office. We'd hoped to deliver these items ourselves in a couple of weeks, but that's not going to happen.
-
Another new radio show is up.....another in our special Holiday Gift Guide episodes...this time I'm chatting with Bruce face LIZ CALLAWAY about her new holiday album COMFORT & JOY as well as her upcoming streaming holiday concert Home For The Holidays. Enjoy!!!
Good Morning - I had a COVID test when I got to school this morning - it was a swab and nothing went up the nose. But you had to swab all over the inside of your mouth. Anyway, they are offering it weekly here at school so I might as well take advantage of it. Other than that, not much going on today.
-
That MITZVAH Gaynor used to have the best TV specials.
That sounds a lot less invasive.
Beginning to listen to Lolita, My Love. Compared with the disc I had, the improved sound is almost miraculous.
Looks like Ruthless is this weekend's musical choice.
??? What are you saying, Ginny?
I got home around 10:45, and I'm so fatigued I can barely move. The three cats and I have been lying down and nodding, but I cannot sleep, much as I would like.
-
I think it went well. I had two wonderful taxi drivers and I had no major problems there, thank God. I am drinking a lot of water now to flush out the dye, and waiting to hear from my doctor, which shoulkd be some time next week.
-
More vibes for Elmore.
I just read that this method may be more accurate. It didn't say compared to the quick test or long test nasal swab.
-
I am trying to decide if I should get tested.
-
Hanukkah starts tonight.
-
I'm up, I'm up - eight hours of sleep.
-
Oh no, what am I going to do if I can't talk to Siri?
-
By the time I got Siri to speak to me again I forgot what I was going to ask her ;D
-
I quickly remembered, just wanted to set the timer.
-
Naughty or nice?
-
:) I love it.
-
I am very pleased with how quickly my doctor, or her assistant, respond to my messages.
Happy Hannakah to all who observe
-
Good evening!
-
Happy Hanukkah!
-
I have three cats clamoring for a treat. Till tomorrow, au revoir!
-
BK, I told you you would like Braunfels' The Birds. He was my beloved Trude Rittman's teacher at the Cologne Conservatory.
Thank you.
Wow! That's really cool!
-
Pie!!!
I couldn't find one I liked at the grocery store today.
-
Happy Hanukkah!
-
I loved The Birds.
-
Picked up packages and then three beef tacos from Casa Vega - came home and ate them and they were as great as always.
-
Listening to Der Rosenkavalier, a VERY tuneful opera filled with glorious tunes by Richard Strauss and those waltz tunes especially, which, of course, were paid homage by Jerry Goldsmith in The Boys from Brazil. This recording, Herbert von Karajan conducting and recorded in 1956 and, I believe, only released in mono for many years, is an astonishing early stereo recording and sounds amazing. The singers are fantastic, too. I also have the slightly shorter (with cuts) Leonard Bernstein version - can't imagine a better recording than the von Karajan, however, and I'm glad I waited to make it my first. But boy is it long - over three hours.
-
As soon as it's done, about twenty minutes to go, I'll get to work on project two for an hour or two.
-
Wishing my Jewish friends a happy Hanukka!
Thank you.
I am going to order from their menu and eat vicariously, which is basically how I have been eating all day.
CADILLAC MARGARITA
TABLE-SIDE GUACAMOLE
ENCHILADAS DE ESPINACA
-
The Festival of Lights! I'm always reluctant to spell it, as there are so many variants.
Mexican sounds good to me.
Had to try Brown Butter Bourbon Truffle ice cream, because, why not?
LOL, it certainly is large enough.
And which did you begin with?
Haven’t begun yet. I got t-boned by a ferocious allergy attack after posting that, and it took nearly five hours before I was feeling real relief from the Benadryl. I would have begun this evening, but I know I won’t last through the first one which will be La dolce vita with a running time of almost three hours. I’ll be taking those I have in chronological order, and they are:
La dolce vita
8 1/2
Juliet of the Spirits
The Toby Dammit segment of Spirits of the Dead
Satyricon
Roma
Amarcord
And the Ship Sails On
When I get the set in the spring, I’ll go through everything again.
-
I know I’m - as of yet - missing some great earlier ones.
-
Lolita has landed.
Is fried ice cream a traditional Mexican desert? I know one local jernt that used to serve it.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
This was supposed to be a quiet week and I was looking forward to catching up on a few things at a comfortable pace. It was not to be. Where does all this crap come from? An autoship order that shipped a week early and included a couple items that shouldn't be there. I got it straightened out, but it shouldn't have happened in the first place. Stuff like that. It's felt like an endless Mercury retrograde.
-
I went to the little mom&pop pharmacy today. Ever since Covid started they've kept their doors locked and no one (except staff) is allowed to enter. A strange way to do business, but it seems to be working for them. I bought what I needed, then went next door to the bagel bakery because how could I resist?
-
Is fried ice cream a traditional Mexican desert? I know one local jernt that used to serve it.
I've never heard of it as being Mexican, but it may be a regional thing.
-
You chose a lovely Christmas tree, Chas.
-
The first time I read that post I hadn't logged in, so there was no photo. Here is what the post said:
Here you go, still bare naked!
Tonight. Maybe. Things are crazy here. Soon.
I was wondering, What did I miss? One could imagine all sort of things!
All the Mexican restaurants in Mexican town Detroit (not sure if it was called that) all served it.
One could!
Watching an interesting documentary on Amazon Prime called "Gatsby in Connecticut." It's sort of a literary sleuthing story positing that the setting of Gatsby was actually inspired by Westport, CT (my old stomping ground) rather than Long Island.
-
I'm bidin' my time.
'Cause that's the kind of gal I'm.
-
Another eight minutes of Der Rosenkavalier - beautiful music and LONG.
-
I did work on project two for an hour - slow going, but it's coming along and is always surprising.
-
Also did some Kritzerland show work.
-
After the opera's done, I'll try to watch something.
I don't know if it's traditional, but most sit-down Mexican restaurants (not fast-food places) that I've gone to have had it as a dessert option, too.
Watching the Broadway show on NBC. It’s a mixed show. Some good performances. Too many jukebox shows.
PAGE FIVE DANCE!!
-
Heading home.
Until later.
-
Finished with my viewing.
-
At least for now.
-
Now I'm listening to Tosca with Leontyne Price and von Karajan conducting.
-
Good night, all.
-
Listening to Lenny do Der Rosenkavalier - about fifteen minutes shorter than the full-length version. This one is not as lush or refined vocally as the von Karajan. And Gwyneth Jones is a real scooper, I must say. Christa Ludwig is on both - here she's the lead, on the other one she's Octavian. Sound is very good, but it just isn't in the same ballpark as the von Karajan, which is amazing since the von Karajan was a 1956 stereo and this is 1971. Still, it's enjoyable and glad to have both - not sure I need any others, unless folks have a suggestion.
-
Happy Hanukkah to all who observe it.
-
Hi, Tom.
-
ONE NIGHT ONLY was basically a telethon for Broadway, and I was very happy to see it. It is a shame they didn’t broadcast this six months ago. It was nice to see Barbra as one of the “pledge breaks.”
-
So many people out of work because Broadway is closed. I never thought of the ushers being out of a job. I would not want to be living in New York when I found myself unemployed.
-
I'll watch it sometime this weekend.
-
T.O.D.
I certainly started this year, the same way I am ending it, by listening to A CAROL CHRISTMAS. And I may watch it this weekend.
I have enjoyed all of the Kritzerland shows that I have watched, so far, and I am looking forward to theChristmas Show.
-
I also enjoyed finding CAROUSEL with Kelli O’Hara and Nathan Gunn. I LOVE this version.
-
Well, I'm glad I don't live in Michigan...Michigan court says companies don’t have to serve customers who are gay (https://www.mlive.com/public-interest/2020/12/michigan-court-says-companies-dont-have-to-serve-customers-who-are-gay.html).
-
I gotta tell you.
-
Lenny does like to hum along, I must say, and I find it a little off-putting. Do you think anyone told him to just conduct rather than humming loud enough to be heard?
-
Gratuitous Post #138!
;)
-
Why do you boys not engage, have a conversation, a little late-night banter?
-
Oh, well, new notes are up.
-
Why do you boys not engage, have a conversation, a little late-night banter?
I don't know. ::)
I don't have anything to say right now.
THE PROM debuts tomorrow night on Netflix.
Or, I can't think of anything to say.
