Well, you've read the notes, the notes inherited cookies even though this here site doesn't use cookies, and now it is time for you to post until the inherited cows come home - they inherited some COWkies.
-
And the word of the day is: LYCEUM!
-
And sanity and light - some of which we got yesterday.
-
Hopefully, I can watch The Prom at my sister's at some point. She has Netflix and I don't.
-
So, yesterday after I left my mom's, I decided to give the brand new Hawk's Prairie area (in Lacey) Chick-fil-A a try. The two drive-thru lines were each several cars deep, but I didn't think it would take too long. I figure that I was in line for about 10 minutes total. Anyway, I got the deluxe chicken sandwich and a diet Coke, and...I wasn't impressed. It was just okay...nothing special about it at all. You'd think that a drive-thru line would keep all the food fresh, but what I got wasn't very warm and tasted just like any other bland breaded chicken patty sandwich. It wasn't bad, but I can't imagine that I will ever go back...even if I'm in the area. Just my 2¢.
-
And now, I'm off to bed. Today, I might go in to work for a bit, or I might not. We'll see how I feel about it. Otherwise, I have no plans. :)
Have a good day, all!
-
.
-
Good morning, all!
-
.
Well, this woke me up! LOL!
-
I swear those cats must have catnip parties and get really high late in the night. Stella was really working my last nerve with her hyper activity. She finally did settle and sleep next to me, but I wasn't sure we'd ever reach that point.
-
I have two things on my weekend agenda: clean the bathroom and vacuum. Beyond that I'm doing nothing.
-
I also need to pay bills today.
-
TOD
Oatmeal raisin
Peanut butter
Snickerdoodles
My Aunt Jean, who knew that I disliked chocolate chip cookies, used to substitute candied fruit for ther chocolate chips. They were great.
-
We got our departmental "holiday" cookbook via email, a recipe exchange to replace a physical cookie exchange this year. There are some wonderful looking treats to try.
-
Peanut Butter Blossoms, a traditional peanut butter cookie with a Hershey's kiss planted in the middle, are always a favorite. I don't know that they're really a holiday cookie, but we always made them at Christmas, so to me, they are.
-
For the violinist who has everything....
-
Now why didn't anyone send the backhouse neighbor something really useful, like a bunch of Omaha Steaks? :)
-
T.O.D.
No contest:
Chocolate Chip Cookies.
-
Good morning, all.
-
You have GOT to be kidding me!
-
At approximately 5:25 in the a.m. I awoke from the single most disgusting Filthy Bathroom Dream ever. It wasn’t my bathroom. The whole thing was quite surreal. But it was “this close” to being a full fledged nightmare. So mine gets a thorough cleaning today.
(It even included litter boxes. Ours is in the laundry room, but that part derived from a small mess Mikey inadvertently left for me yesterday. There’s no rest for the wicked.)
-
TOD
Peanut butter, oatmeal raisin, and macadamia nut.
In an earlier life I would have started the list with chocolate chip. Now I generally find them cloying, and anything with chocolate is just an occasional exception. I was all over those warm gooey things from Mrs. Fields or David’s back in the day, but not any more.
-
I would certainly try that corn thing BK describes, but the confetti one wouldn’t appeal.
-
The Girl Scouts’ Thin Mints are another occasional favorite, but it’s because of the mint-chocolate combination. I also like the Oreos mint ones for the same reason.
-
We’re once again being blessed with some more unseasonably warm-ish weather. I think there’s going to be some rain today, but tomorrow’s supposed to be clear and up around 60, and I hope to get a little more outdoors work done.
Indoor work today, though. Have I mentioned I will be cleaning my bathroom?
-
LYCEUM was our telephone exchange when we lived in the country for a few years......LYceum 7-4398.
-
TOD:
Almond Windmill cookies, although they don't have bits of almond on them anymore. :(
-
Warm weather here, too. I have the window open and Barnum is screaming to his friends outside.....
-
Good morning, all.
-
Let's get off this darned page.
-
Two.
-
And here we are!
-
Saturday afternoon greetings! Richard is feeling much better today, but he's not ready to set the world on fire.
-
Thank you to DR TCB for last night's birthday wish.
-
I enjoyed "The Prom" on Netflix, but, remember, my expectations are very low these days. I'm not sure I would have paid the money to see it live in New York and I don't think it would appeal to Richard. My favorite number was the midwestern high school principal singing about how much it means to him to see live theatre in NYC.
-
And there's some action on the Godspell bus that BK won't like AT ALL!
-
Good Morning. Happy Belated Birthday to DR Ginny! Hope you day was the best!
-
bk - Milk cookies are good - in my opinion - not good enough to make a franchise out of it. I remember I actually went there last January and I was like "what is the gimmick here? Why are people going nuts?" Good cookies, though. Savor them while you can
-
Good Morning. Happy Belated Birthday to DR Ginny! Hope you day was the best!
Thanks, DR Matthew!
-
Here we are on the weekend. I have to play for a wedding today. Don't get me started... it's outside, in the garden of the Friary that's attached to our church (We are an order parish, Capuchin Franciscans) at least it's not raining, but I get to haul a keyboard out for the ceremony. I should have charged a hauling fee.
-
Good afternoon!
-
Hopefully, I can watch The Prom at my sister's at some point. She has Netflix and I don't.
How many viewers does she have it for? If it's more than 1 then you could sign into her account from your house. My sister and I are sharing netflix right now. She has 4 people that can view.
-
I watched The Prom and really liked it.
-
Starting to watch The Prom.
-
I should have charged a hauling fee.
Well, DR Matthew, you know what to ask for the next time!
-
Good luck with that. :)
LOVE keyboards. HATE the hauling.
-
Good luck with that. :)
LOVE keyboards. HATE the hauling.
Granted, it's not very far, like a few hundred feet. But it's the keyboard, the amp, stand, etc.... LOL
-

And then getting it all set up "just right" so as to avert all possible disasters.
-
Okay kids, here it is.
The tree topper needs to be redone. You can hardly tell with those lights there, but it's a Doctor Who Weeping Angel. She needs to be lowered a bit, and we'll get rid of those lights which don't help any.
PS--excuse our mess.
-
Lovely, DR ChasSmith. Thanks for sharing the photo.
-
getting it all set up "just right"
DRs Matthew and ChasSmith: the Goldilocks of keyboardists!
-
For the violinist who has everything....
I like this.
-
A friend in Los Angeles put this on FB. There was something but it did not post.
-
I'm up, I'm up - nine hours of sleep.
-
Lovely, DR ChasSmith. Thanks for sharing the photo.
Thank you, sir. I had to stand outside the front door to get the whole tree in, and no matter what kind of adjustment I make, some of the lights don't show up as well as others. But you get the idea.

At least he is improving. May tomorrow be even better.
-
Good luck with that. :)

You need a cart to wheel it all out.
-
Nice tree DR Chas.
-
BTW, the Group Rep premiere tonight is at 8:00 PST, if I'm reading correct - it lasts about an hour and then the partay.
-
I am not attending the playlets online tonight, but certainly will before the end of the holiday season.
-
I also have A Carol Christmas to watch, and the Kritzerland holiday show. Thank goodness I have already watched DR Jrand70's A Christmas Carol.
-
THREE, by the way.
-
In case you weren't counting.
-
Okay kids, here it is.

Beautiful!
-
I would love to have a tree for the cats except I have been warned:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MVpLYxoiX-s
-
Oh man. I am so thankful that none of our cats ever showed an interest in the trees, beyond lying beneath them or batting a couple of ornaments right at the bottom. And we always put cat-friendly ones there to be abused.
-
I have a vintage 1960 aluminum tree that we put up a couple of times in the early aughts. When baby Poe turned out to be an eater of the aluminum "needles", we had to keep it put away for his safety and well being. Now that he's gone, we half thought about putting it up this year, but didn't really have a place ready for it because we still like to have a real one. I think we'll plan on it next year. It's about a five-footer, and I've even got the turning base and color wheel.
I bought that tree on eBay back when those were becoming the latest hot retro thing. It's nice that it turned out to be a 1960 one, simply because that's the year we'd just moved to Florida and we had a small silver one for a few years.
-
I might watch the playlets tonight -- but if I don't, I definitely will later.
-
Back from picking up some packages and am pre-heating the oven for the fourth of the four Regina pizzas.
-
Yum
-
Lovely tree DR CHAS SMITH.
-
Glad to hear that RICHARD is feeling better.
-
I may watch the BEE GEES documentary on HBO at 8 pm. - and Timothy Chalmat & Bruce Springsteen are on SNL, so that might be amusing.
And then I might watch THE PROM.......
-
The Prom wasn’t a great movie, but who cares? It was thoroughly enjoyable.
-
Cordon earned his reviews.
-
We are about 15 minutes into THE PROM and are enjoying it.
-
Good evening.
-
Leonard is such a good cat. Except for batting off several of the plastic ornaments to chase across the floor, he wasn't destructive at all.
-
Joshie and Rex were also very good cats. Even when they were young.
-
Now Sandra's Magdalena -- well, she won't even bother to put up a tree. It would be down before she got the first ornament on.
-
Pizza was good. Worked on project two, then heard an orchestration. Now listening to some delightful orchestral music by Walter Braunfels. Then tonight's viewing (prior to the Group Rep thing), is Braunfels' The Birds from the LA Opera.
-
Leonard is such a good cat. Except for batting off several of the plastic ornaments to chase across the floor, he wasn't destructive at all.
Good Leonard. And of course you know better than to put breakable ornaments at the bottom of a tree :)
-
Now Sandra's Magdalena -- well, she won't even bother to put up a tree. It would be down before she got the first ornament on.
;D
-
Our best cat ever was Gaia who had the most wonderful temperament and was practically an angel, except for her first Christmas.
For my 19th birthday I insisted we get me a Christmas tree, something Keith did not want to do having never had one before. We purchased one of those store trees on a wooden cross that tip over easily? We decorated with lights and inexpensive red and green tree balls.
Every time I returned home the tree was on the floor and more decorations had broken :)) Since then we have never put lights on a tree. Our trees also went into proper stands that could hold a climbing cat, not that we ever had a major issue again. Just the batting at the non-breakable decorations at the bottom of the tree.
-
My favorite cookies to make at home:
Oatmeal
Sour Cream
Almond Macaroons
Biscotti
-
Since it is Chanukah I wish I was making my sugar roll out Chanukah cookies.
-
Not counting the cookie I had in the spring, took 2 bites and trashed, I haven't had any cookies since last December. At least I don't remember having any. I have been craving cookies but will be good and not bake any.
-
I have had some delicious bakery purchased ginger molasses and gingerbread cookies.
-
I also like my chocolate chip cookies and chocolate chip meringue cookies.
-
I prefer to buy peanut butter cookies.
-
I am torturing myself.
-
I love peanut butter cookies and I don't think I've ever had a bad one.
-
Watched act one of the opera The Birds - interesting production and the music is incredible. Now listening to the von Karajan Madama Butterfly with Mirella Freni and Pavarotti. This was my first Butterfly. I'm pretty sure it was Butterfly that I saw at least some of back in grammar school on a field trip - it's a vague memory but one I haven't forgotten. Might have been junior high, too, but I seem to remember being much younger. Anyway, I've always loved this recording, which I bought on LP in 1974. I also love the Leontyne Price that's on RCA SACD conducted by Leinsdorf, just because of that early stereo sound - but this is still superb after all this years and the Vienna Phil is incredible. This is a remastering of the original CD release that I really didn't like the sound of at all - here, they've fixed all of it and it's fantastic. And this comes with a Blu-ray Audio disc two, so that should sound even better. Some of these Decca Blu-ray Audio things come so beautifully packaged - no jewel cases - more like a Big Little Book, for those who remember. Eventually, I'm going to get as many of these as I can because once they're gone the prices are going to sky rocket.
-
An hour and ten minutes till the Group Rep thing - I've got my link and password.
-
I baked quite a few cookies when I hosted meetings. Hopefully that will return next year.
As far as store-bought cookies -- I like the ones with the M&Ms.
-
Leonard is such a good cat. Except for batting off several of the plastic ornaments to chase across the floor, he wasn't destructive at all.
Sweet.
-
I do not like to make cookies. Too much work. I don't even like to make chocolate chips cookies, which I know are easy. But all that spooning and spacing and babysitting. No. I make my tart and cut it cup in small pieces, if I need something bar cookie like.
-
I love peanut butter cookies and I don't think I've ever had a bad one.
I'm with you. Even ones that were slightly burnt ended up in my belly.
-
A friend of Mom's dropped by the ingredients for a homemade door wreath. Mom couldn't really do things because the wires needed precise finger work and her arthritis would let her. So, she supervised, and I created something that is holding together -- for now. We'll see how often I have to revisit it. Attaching pine cones was a chore. The ribbon wasn't long enough for a bow. They like adding magnolia leaves here. It's a Southern thing, I guess.
-
Gratuitous post No. 100!
-
Good night, all.
-
And now, I'm off to bed. Today, I might go in to work for a bit, or I might not. We'll see how I feel about it. Otherwise, I have no plans. :)

Well, I went to work, but didn't actually do much work, so it was really just to get out of the house. ::) I had a receipt survey coupon to get a free crispy chicken sandwich and as simple as it was, I thought it was better than the Chick-fil-A sandwich that I had last night...cheaper, too. Free is good! Actually, I just had to buy a drink to get the free sandwich, but I also got a small side of mashed potatoes. Simple but good enough for me.

That was the other option, which is what I might do. I didn't go over there today and I'm actually volunteering at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts tomorrow (I don't know what's happening...probably just an open house or something like that), so I don't know when I'll actually get to see it.

That's pretty cool about the Weeping Angel tree toper! I'd read that the new Doctor Who season is going to feature the Weeping Angels again (https://winteriscoming.net/2020/12/10/doctor-who-season-13-weeping-angels-return-john-barrowman-jack-harkness/).
-
Watched our show. Not my cuppa for most of the playlets and the order should have been switched up for sure. Ours is the closer, which is a good way to leave them. Ours is really the only one that looks like it had any film thought behind it - the others are all just random angles and shooting it start to finish and just moving cameras around, which means film language becomes moot. And that kills a lot of things. Many of them sound completely dead, audio-wise, because they didn't do what we did - which you HAVE to do - record room tone - a minute of it - and then that gets laid over every shot and gives the sound some presence and space. It's all directing 101 but none of these folks have directed for the camera outside of these online Group Rep things. I was very happy with ours - we did do an additional bit of work on the final shot that put some magic into it, but alas they'd already assembled the show and couldn't use it. At some point, I may be able to link you to just our playlet but that can't happen until after the first of the year.
-
I watched the first half of The Birds and will save act two. Right now, continuing on with Madama Butterfly after having attended the little cast party thing.
-
Trying not to eat any other food.

I would think cookies are easier to make than tarts. I also find making chocolate chip cookies oddly boring even though I like my recipe.
-
I will make cookie dough, roll it into balls, and then freeze them until I am ready to bake them.
-
I love peanut butter cookies and I don't think I've ever had a bad one.
I'm with you. Even ones that were slightly burnt ended up in my belly.
I prefer them well done. As with all things I am somewhat choosy about which ones I prefer.

They have no eggs and the wheat is heat-treated, so there's no chance of salmonella. I've really liked most of the kinds that I've gotten.

That sounds interesting. It would satisfy my craving for cookie dough but not cookies.

After my mashed potatoes (even though I had mashed potatoes earlier today from KFC), I set up my computer to record The Christmas Setup that was on Lifetime tonight.

I haven't tried the Nestle Toll House Chocolate Chip Edible Cookie Dough, yet, but I do like the Kroger® Edible Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. The Nestle Toll House Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Monster Edible Cookie Dough wasn't great.

Oh! I forgot to mention in my original post that the free chicken sandwich was from KFC, formerly known as Kentucky Fried Chicken. Dopey me! ;)

I also tried Simple Truth™ Plant Based Chocolate Truffle Brownie Batter (https://www.fredmeyer.com/p/simple-truth-plant-based-chocolate-truffle-brownie-batter/0001111005458). I liked that it was in a small container (the whole thing is just under 4 ounces), but the chocolate flavor was just too rich.
-
In the past, I've ordered from Edoughble (https://www.edoughble.com/). They have a lot of options, including vegan and gluten-free. They're really good.

I will make cookie dough, roll it into balls, and then freeze them until I am ready to bake them.
I've been getting some made-to-be-eaten-raw cookie dough and have just been eating that. ;D
Where do buy that?
I've gotten some online, but Fred Meyer has a few options. (https://www.fredmeyer.com/search?query=Edible%20cookie%20dough&searchType=default_search&fulfillment=all)
Is it in the frozen food section?

In the refrigerated section with pie crusts and the like. In Tumwater, it's in the same refrigerated aisle with all the yogurts.

I eat it like ice cream...just with a spoon out of the container. :)
-
But the cookie dough does have more calories per ounce than ice cream.

For some ice cream that I have right now, a serving is 2/3 cup and about 170-210 calories.

A cookie dough serving is two tablespoons at about 140 calories. ::)
