Well, you've read the notes, the notes did the Sibelius second but not as well as the Marx Brothers, and now it is time for you to post until the Sibelius cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: INCISIVE!
-
I really don't care for most of what I see that's done specifically for streaming during the time of Covid, so I feel it my duty to share this, which IS well done and simply wonderful. https://vimeo.com/492234704?fbclid=IwAR0pkaX6Y3ULihB6Dr92YFo6UuMPNdkanUzhMPHgqIvXpBKJ1T88LP_DyR4

That was quite enjoyable!
-
I'll definitely have to think about today's Topic of the Day. But first sleep. 8)
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
My new modem and router seem to be working fine this morning, and after a day of no Wi-Fi, I am happy that everything is up and running.
-
I don't have much to report. After kitty cleanup, I must finish my last round of Christmas shopping. Today or tomorrow I need to walk to my bank and withdraw funds for my gift to Jeff, the buiding's super.
-
Good morning, all.

That was great to wake up to.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Wonderful video - thanks for sharing, bk.
-
I never miss a good Uta Hagen musical.
-
Good morning.
-
A string of lights went out on my only interior decoration this year: the lighted garland.
-
I thought the idea for these calico cat cookies was pretty cool.
-
Such important stuff, huh?
-
That's interesting about the Schippers recording. Was he ever considered a particularly great conductor? I don't know what I might have heard of his, except for the 1951 Amahl and the Night Visitors recording.
-
Last night, we watched a movie on cable, THE CAPTIVE.
Nice photography, but the story was a bit confusing.
That is: How the characters got from "A to B" was not really clear.
-
Also, much of the dialogue was not clear.
Back in the day, you could hear and understand every word an actor said.
Not today!
I don't know if it's the sound recording equipment, or if the actors are just mumbling or a combination of both.
I find that with a lot of movies these days.
:(
-
Schippers did that very famous all-Barber program.
-
Yes DR TCB is correct......since this is only the second time I had been to this dentist he didn't know to ask me: "Could you sing before?"
I liked his answer so I think when I go in to get my partial I will ask him if I will able to play the saxophone......
-
TOD:
I've always liked the OBC of Hello, Dolly! I especially like the "Put On Your Sunday Clothes".....toward the end when everything gets going someone (Carol?) hollers my name....."JACK!"
Has anyone else heard it?
I also like the OBC of GYPSY especially the overture AND "You Gotta Have a Gimmick."
"Turkey Lurkey Time" especially in the remastered CD from MR BK.
I shall be interested to hear what other Dear Readers have to say.
-
I am feeling okay today. Yes, DR JANE, no ill effects so far. I haven't had to take another of the pain pills, so I am very lucky OR the pill lasts 15 hours which I doubt.
-
Not easy to talk which is of course torture for me but a joy for those who may visit.
-
I am tired and will be hitting the hay in a bit.
-
I never miss a good Uta Hagen musical.
She’s one of my favorites. Her performance in Singin’ in the Rain is priceless.
-
A string of lights went out on my only interior decoration this year: the lighted garland.
A moment of silence. Please.
-
Tuesday morning greetings! Well, it’s all in the wrists, I guess. My hand-kneaded shortbread dough behaved much better and we’ll have cut-out cookies for Christmas after all. But I didn’t use the full amount of flour called for in Patty’s recipe.
-
Onward

Two!

Vixmom, here’s another hot deal on a dutch oven.

Good Morning! More bread in the oven. DD's waiting patiently to get picked up for camp. After they are picked up, I'll head to the Joes of Trader and pick up the booze I need for gifts as well as more beer bread supplies. Since I'm done with church by 7:00pm on Christmas Eve and there are no family things to be present for, I've decided to make my own Prime Rib dinner, so I need to pick up those supplies today as well. Then there is a rehearsal this evening for the 3 of us doing music at church for Christmas Eve/Day. Should be a lovely day.
-
DR TCB thank you for explaining DR Jrand's joke ;D
-
I thought the idea for these calico cat cookies was pretty cool.
If I was still baking cookies I would do this.
-
I'm up, I'm up - barely. Five hours of sleep.
-
That's not good, bk. Not nearly enough.
-
Frank Lloyd Wright's "Fallingwater" made out of gingerbread, etc.
I am not nearly that ambitious.
-
Oh DR JOHN G reminded me how much I enjoy the original cast album of CANDIDE.
-
Bruce, I forgot about your Christmas day visit. I know how much you look forward to it.
-

It is easier to only add the amount needed when you do it by hand.
-
While I normally love gingerbread houses I am not a fan of Frank Lloyd Wright.

That's amazing!
-
I would like some Calico Cat cookies and a nice piece of Fallingwater gingerbread, please.
-
Such a day. I just had to deal with a clogged toilet and overflow. Not pretty, let me tell you. Luckily, Jeff answered his phone, came up with a plumbers friend and unclogged it. I hjave a real mess to clean up.
-
I thought the idea for these calico cat cookies was pretty cool.
Those are really pretty! I wonder if the two colors of brown are milk and dark chocolate?

The little brown and white puppy is Molly, and I am in love!

Ladies and Gents,
Partly as a result of this week's email forwarding mess, and because I've intended to consolidate my addresses anyway, I have just changed my email on this site to the one I give everyone now, which is:
chasmith at g mail dot com
Any of you who use email to reach me for anything, if you have the Comcast one, please change it to this one.
Note there's only one 's' in the name, unlike my user name here. Sorry for that confusion. I wish I'd chosen that for the gmail address lo those many years ago.
-
I had to clean up a driveway mess this afternoon. Both the USPS driver and Nathan were burning rubber getting up the long slope because of packed down icy
sh stuff, so I've cleaned up the mess they made and treated the whole stretch with a sand and salt mixture. Should be good now.
I know this in no way competes with the cleanup DR Elmore is doing. :)
-
This is absolutely appalling. I hope former DR MBarnum is okay.

One drop-off has happened on time - the helper, however, is an hour and a half late.
-
Once she's here (in about twenty minutes) I'll eat something and by then some packages should be ready for pick-up.

:o WTF??

While I normally love gingerbread houses I am not a fan of Frank Lloyd Wright.
The person, or his designs...or both? ::)
;)
I really know little about him as a person. I find his designs claustrophobic. Touring one of his homes with a group all I wanted was to get out of there. Since it was Christmas the tour included entertainment adding to my length of time inside.
-
It will be dark soon.
-
Yes, what has been going on today in Salem is very upsetting. It began with some idiot saying if they had asked instead of demanding he wear a mask then he would have. BS!
-
DR CHAS SMITH I meant to say that I use Mozilla Thunderbird as my Pop Email account.....my Comcast mail is forwarded to it.
It's a nice interface and I haven't had any problems with it in all the years.....since 1999....that I have used it.
-
So glad to see you up and about, DR Jrand70!
-
It looks like Paul Gemignani's memoir will be published in Fall 2021. Can't wait to read it!
-
I'd like to read DR elmore3003's, too.
-
In less than two hours, Open Enrollment will be done, for me. Some folks have to stay answering phones until midnight tonight.

Oh...that's too bad. I've never been in one of his houses, nor have I seen any photos or designs. I wouldn't know what to expect.

I'm sure he has some stories!

I will read it, but I've worked with him. He's not one of the friendliest or nicest conductors in the city. I'll save the facts for my memoirs.
-
Helper came and went and I've picked up packages - thankfully, only a couple of people at the mail place.

DR Elmore, wasn’t he the conductor when we went with you to an outdoor rehearsal in front of the Plaza Hotel several years ago?

And speaking of Kurt Weill, OperaVision (https://www.youtube.com/c/OperaVision) on YouTube just released a concert (in a "sleeping" theater...it's explained in the pianist's introduction) by Katharine Mehrling and artistic director Barrie Kosky: LONELY HOUSE (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCSjG1Ehbgc), featuring the music of Kurt Weill that he wrote in Paris and New York after he left Germany, will be available for only a month. :)
-
Our receptionist has tested positive
I am sorry. Vibes you don't have it. I know your office has been taking precautions. I hope she didn't catch this at the office and that you stay well.
-
So in the morning I must go get both the quick test and the PFC
What did you have last time? Should you be waiting a bit longer to retest?
-
I have been following a story in our local news of a shooting. While in the building next door to the hospital, the hospital also went into lockdown.
-
I have a doctor in that building, get my blood tests, and have my infusions there.
-
I know that the people in the lab are ok as someone reported a text from his wife saying there was an active shooter in the building. He gave her good advice, "told her to get everyone in a room, lock the doors, block them and silence their cellphones. “I told her ‘there’s no threat at this time but to act like there is,".
-
That began around 1:00pm. All is ok, I guess. I don't think they found the shooter. Two people were taken to the hospital with injuries. At least they didn't have far to go. I am curious if they were driven or walked, probably driven n an ambulance. While the hospital begins just a short distance away the ER is on the other side of the complex.
-
Our receptionist has tested positive
Vibes for all of you.

Oh, my goodness!! :o

Oh, no! Praying for a negative result for you!
-
Yikes. Wishing all the best of possible outcomes for DR vixmom. And for the reps at Jane's medical facility.
-
So 6:30 am to assure I get in and don’t hav3 to stand in line for 6 hours in the cold
Good luck with your test!
Does the receptionist know where she might have gotten covid? :(
-
I'm finally leaving work. My sister wants me to go shopping with her. For the first time, she said "with" instead of "for. Finally, I won't have to try and text her (or worse, call...really bad reception in Fred Meyer) to get clarification on what she wants!
Be back later.

Be back later.
You can go, but be back soon...

It's hard when you're away from home and don't have everything at hand.
-
We watched Christmas in Connecticut tonight, my favorite Christmas foodie movie.
-
Gratuitous post No. 100!
-
I have off from tomorrow until Monday.
-
Zoom session was fun and we worked out pretty much all the details of what will happen in the next two weeks.
-
Earlier, at Gelson's, I decided to try their cheese enchiladas - only 600 calories and you heat it up in the microwave. I also got a similar thing with penny pasta with cheese, also for the microwave - these aren't frozen but are cold. The enchiladas were really good, and much later I had the pasta - 350 calories for that - and that was really quite good. I think I'll be partaking of these often - not too much money, either.
-
Finished with my viewing, and finishing up listening to Mahagonny of Weill with Lenya.
-
That's lovely listening.
-
Good night, all.
-
So in the morning I must go get both the quick test and the PFC
What did you have last time? Should you be waiting a bit longer to retest?
Just the quick test the last 2 times, previously I had the PFC but it took 14 days to come back then. I also had the antibody test twice
-
Now playing - Weill, The Seven Deadly Sins with Ute Lemper and Mauceri - same distant sound for much of it, but I like the performance a lot. I have Lenya's recording, too, so I'll listen to that after this.
-
Yikes. Wishing all the best of possible outcomes for DR vixmom. And for the reps at Jane's medical facility.
Thanks. I am thinking if it was my doctor her name would be in the news by now.
-

I never thought of it as a foodie movie even though it is :)

You are a pro at this ;) Unless I had symptoms I think I would prefer to skip the quick test. I am guessing for you to return to work you need it to be negative while you wait for the longer test.

I first fell in love with her when she was Martha in that musical version of ‘Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf’ — WHAT A DUMP!

Hi, Tom and Jane.

I think I will pass on that one.

I'd like to read DR elmore3003's, too.
Skip the first volume. That takes him just up to reaching puberty.

Tonight, I went shopping with my sister.
-
For the most part, it went pretty well.
-
Finished with my viewing, and finishing up listening to Mahagonny of Weill with Lenya.
I think Diana Ross played the role in the movie.
-
There were only a couple of items that we couldn't fine.
-
We're all going to her place on Friday, and we'll have sandwiches for lunch.
-
Did you split up in the store to go faster or shop together?
-
Thursday, Christmas eve, we'll go to my mom's house.
-
This'll be the first without my dad. :(
-
My sister made the suggestion, and we all agreed, to not exchange gifts this year (or possible, anymore), mostly because we're all old and we can all get ourselves whatever we want.
-
However, we're all chipping in to get my mom a new laptop.
-
Hers is over eight years old, so she really can use an upgrade.
-
Her desktop computer is a newer one, so it's still good.

He died of AIDS in the mid-eighties.

We all thought that that was a good idea.
