Well, you've read the notes, the notes had a whole lotta notes going on, and now it is time for you to post until the whole lotta cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: MATUTINAL!
-
George, I like the idea of not exchanging gifts, and that you are getting your mother something she needs,

George, I like the idea of not exchanging gifts, and that you are getting your mother something she needs,
It's really hard to figure out what to get people who pretty much get what they want when they want it (almost an Irving Berlin reference ;) ).
-
~~~Excellent Vibes and Xylophones for a Major Miracle for BK!!~~~
-
And a Very Happy Birthday to (occasional? former??) DR William F. Orr!
Happy birthday DR William F Orr 🎂🎁🎂
Extremely hard, and more difficult every year.
Yup. ::)
-
And now, I'm off to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning to all
-
Happy birthday to Dr William. All the best
-
Good morning, all!
-
I have a busier day than I would like. I must dress warmly and walk to the bank at the corner of Broadway for some crisp $50 bills. When I return from thjat, I must continue the bathroom cleanup from yesterday. That will be grisly.
-
Last night I dreamed I was walking barefoot through the snow and carrying a full score for a number from 1776 to a rehearsal on Fifth Avenue. I have no idea why I was barefoot.
-
DR Ginny, yes, indeed. Paul Gemignani conducted that Plaza Hotel celebration. He was friendly at rehearsal, but that was it.
-
In 1973, I wrote a fan letter to Lotte Lenya, who answered it in a typed note. I'm still bothered that I have no idea what became of it. The note was typed, and she was clearly a student from the Vixmom School of Typing. In a handwritten postscript she wrote "It's a good thing I became an actress. I would have starved to death as a secretary."
-
Speaking of DR vixmom, I wish everyone in your office excellent health and negative test results.
-
What a wonderful story, DR elmore3003.
~~~MOST EXCELLENT AND HARDY MAJOR MIRACLE VIBES~~~ for bk!

~~~HUGS~~~ for DR George and family this holiday season
-
Good morning, all.
-
This morning I must go out on one last round of errands. Nothing huge, just several little things that require a stop here and a stop there.
There'll be a last one tomorrow morning, too, but that will just be a five minute stop at the supermarket.
-
Well, here's something I had never seen and it moved me to tears. In May 1984 HBO aired a program "Being Homosexual," which followed an elderly New York gay couple, who attend the Dec. 1983 Carnegie Hall performance by the New York City Gay Men's Chorus and the first performance of my late friend Mark Riese's "Fantasia on God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen." I saw myself briefly turning pages for the pianist, but what broke my heart were the shots of so many Chorus members who lost their lives to AIDS.
There was a lotta Lotte in those notes, and as far as I'm concerned you can keep it coming.
DR Elmore, I am so sorry you are missing that note. It kills me when something like that happens. How many years ago do you last recall seeing it? Here's hoping you still come upon it sometime when you least expect it.
-
I've got that video open on another tab to watch later.
-
The big question is, where the fat hell did I put that box of Christmas and other cards? I need one for the super.
-
We are expected to receive up to a foot of snow by tonight.
-
And on THAT note...
-
TWO!
-
I just knew I should have gone grocery shopping yesterday.
-
I just received an email from Indiegogo asking if I've received my perk for The Creature Wasn't Nice -- said perk (whichever it was) having an expected delivery date of December 15, 2019.
-
I got the same, DR ChasSmith.
That note, along with a nice one from Benjamin Britten, were lost between 1973 and 1979 before I moved to New York.
-
I just accomplished something I thought might be impossible: I put on a pair of long pants for the first time since May. I wasn't sure my legs would willingly wrestle with that much fabric.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I lost a letter Frank Capra wrote me after I read The Name Above the Title.
~~~HUGS~~~ for DR George and family this holiday season
Big group hug!

What a wonderful story, DR elmore3003.
Yes, it was.

Happy Noche de los Rabanos, y’all! May you enjoy your radishes in wonderful ways tonight.

Vibes for DR GEORGE and his family!
-
Getting a negative result vibes for DR VIXMOM.
-
I enjoyed the Lotte notes as well.....indeed her singing and songs should have put the CABARET OBC on my list yesterday!
So what!
-
Warm today and temps in the teens tonight and tomorrow and Friday.....
-
I still don't understand how I could have had six teeth extractions and not have ANY pain the next two days.....either my constitution is remarkable or those pills last 72 hours.......
-
I stocked up on stuff last week - so I don't have to go to the grocery or other stores or the bank until NEXT week.....

I was so hoping the answer would be "oh, a year or two ago".
Sorry to hear that.

FYI, last night's lovely little repast:
-
Good morning!
-
Well, the bathroom is mopped. When the floor is dry, I will go to the bank. When I return, I will step in and wash down the toilet exterior with ammonia. Tomorrow I will launder the bathroom rugs and a towel on which Annabelle was sick.
-
I just spent another hour sanding and salting the lower half of the driveway that I didn't have to do yesterday, so that the oil and propane supplier's trucks can get up okay. Will the this storm never end?
-
Big two-day thaw starting tomorrow, with Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in the mid-to-high 50s -- but with much rain, and Friday night it goes back down to 22.
-
Happy birthday DR William F Orr
-
Wednesday morning greetings! Today is gingerbread day for me. I'll make the dough now, chill it for several hours, then make the cut-outs this evening.

My Lenya story:
In 1967 my mother worked at a Detroit bank with a young woman whose brother had some connection to Lotte Lenya. My parents cooked up a surprise trip to NYC for my mother and me, to occur at the beginning of the summer before my senior year. Through her co-worker, Mom secured third row center seats for CABARET, then playing at the Imperial Theatre. We saw the entire original cast and met 4 of the 5 principals at the stage door afterwards. I still have the autographed pictorial program book, signed by Joel Grey, Bert Convy, Jack Gilford, and Lotte Lenya. We missed Jill Haworth because she'd swapped her short dark hair for long blond and we didn't recognize her until she called "Good Night" in her raspy British voice.
Anyway, what I suspect is that we sat in Lenya's house seats for which Mom had paid the outrageous price of $12.00 each.
-
Great story DR GINNY!
-
Great story DR GINNY!
Thanks, DR JRand! It was a great "first Broadway show" experience.
-
My question for ASK BK DAY:
I know residuals for actors in many old movies and tv shows are done......but do composers of songs sung in old movies and tv shows and composers of soundtracks still receive royalties when those are shown on television or released on DVD?
-
Great story DR GINNY!
Indeed.
-
DR Ginny, I knew most of your CABARET story, but not the Lenya connection. How wonderful.
A friend with whom I acted at La Comedia Dinner Theatre was an assistant on the off-Broadway production of Berlin to Broadway with Kurt Weill, and he said Lenyta used to come to rehearsal, smoke hash, and say, Dat vasn't how ve did it in Berlin. I love her.
-
I thought the walk to the bank would kill me, but I got there and back in one piece. I saw the bank manager - a lovely, wonderful lady - and we had a nice visit. As soon as I'm ready to move, I will finish up the bathroom.
-
Good Morning! I slept later than usual, took the boys out for their walk, and then found this

OMG, this is so sad. Poor Rebecca! I had no idea she was in such a poor state. How I loved her.
-
Terrible news about Ms. Luker.
-
I've finished the bathroom and had a good cry.
I've known and loved Rebecca since she played the Princess in my reconstruction of the Cole Porter-Moss Hart musical, Jubilee. She was brilliant, one of the best people in the cast. That was 34 years ago. In her last email, she told me she was having physical issues, and it was later that she announced it was ALS. We sympathized over each others' ailments, and swore we would see each other soon. I will miss her.

~~~HUGS~~~ for DR George and family this holiday season
Thanks, Singdaw!
-
I'm up, I'm up - seven hours of sleep.
-
Sorry to hear about Rebecca - I tried to have her and Danny drop in to the anniversary show, and his e-mail response, which was very nice, led me to believe it was just a matter of time, sadly. She was a wonderful gal and I have so many wonderful memories of her in the studio, right from Unsung Sondheim on, and then doing her Cole Porter album was wonderful. RIP and ALS sucks.
-
Sad news about Rebecca Luker. My friend Carol worked with her on Music Man. I will have to look up her singing on All the Things You Are. And her Brigadoon, too. Loved that Cole Porter album from BK.
:'( I'll be watching her videos on YouTube today.
-
Oh my god, so sad about Rebecca Luker. And to learn that she was only fifty-nine. There are no words.
-
On a happier note, it's my pleasure to announce on Lotta Lotte Day:
DR Ginny wins haineshisway.com.
Honorable Mention goes to DR Elmore.
Please pick up your prizes on the way out.
Wow! Just count your blessings. Continued vibes you quickly heal.
Making it even a better story and memory :)
I had just read the sad news before coming here.
We are expected to receive up to a foot of snow by tonight.
:o Glad I don't live where you live!!
I feel left out. I didn't the e-mail from Indiegogo. :-\
;)
-
I got several things from Indiegogo about The Creature campaign - I just nuked them because every perk was sent out and I know people got them.
-
I just accomplished something I thought might be impossible: I put on a pair of long pants for the first time since May. I wasn't sure my legs would willingly wrestle with that much fabric.
Congrats, Larry!
Yummy! I was thinking about going to Subway for lunch today, but I might (mind you, I said "might") have to get me a chili dog. ;D
That's so cool, Ginny! Except for the part about missing Jill Haworth.
I am very pleased, and hope the rest of us do at least as well, Bryan only had a very sore arm after his vaccination. He did not have any other symptoms.
That's good to know. From what I read, the reactions seems to be likened to a flu shot. This is good to hear
-
Anyone else on a Rebecca Luker listening marathon today?
-
I’m so sorry to hear about Rebecca Luker. ALS is such a cruel disease.
-
Thank you to everyone who made nice comments about my story. That trip was a defining experience for me.
-
I just discovered this on YouTube: one of my favorite songs ever and Rebecca. Heartbreaking.
Anyone else on a Rebecca Luker listening marathon today?
Not me. It's too painful.
-
Had hot dogs for food - just mustard and onions today.
-
Kay has come and gone, waiting on dealer to get his stuff - always, always late.
-
On the "lost letters" thread, I regret losing a letter I had received from Ned Rorem.
-
Thankfully, the one I received from bk's close personal friend, Stephen Sondheim, was not lost.
-
Very very sad about Rebecca Luker.
-
Wonderful story, DR Ginny. Thank you for sharing.
-
Good medical news from DR Jrand70 and DR Jane about her son.
-
The snow continues apace, but it may not be as bad as they predicted. They have NOT called off the prediction for winds tonight of 60mph and temps dropping to below zero for Christmas Day.
-
Hmmm, I have been reading the arm hurts more than your average flu shot. It sounds more like our Typhoid or Shingrix shots. I think his arm hurt more than my worst flu shot. Still, I will take a sore arm for a few days, even flu like symptoms, as long as I don't get covid.
-
Good medical news from DR Jrand70 and DR Jane about her son.
Thank you. In 12 days he will be 56% protected.
-
Continued good news vibes for DR JANE.
Thanks, so far so good.
Wow...just wow.
-
Thankfully, the one I received from bk's close personal friend, Stephen Sondheim, was not lost.
I have one of those, also! :)
-
Dealer has come and gone, picked up some packages, including the mono replacement Blu-ray for Psycho and two screeners, which surprised me - maybe we'll get some more - maybe some Netflix - the two we got don't interest me - Borat II and One Night in Miami.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
At the end of every year I look forward to a couple weeks of R&R, but somehow little things often get in the way. This week has been hectic so far and I just want to crawl under a rock and tell everyone to go away. I know that part of it is Covid, knowing that many, many people would prefer to be celebrating with family and friends, but feel unable to do so. It's disheartening.
-
I stopped at Julie's today and picked up several take-out favorites for the next few days. There's nothing like comfort food! (I have ChocZero here, too.)
-
I wanna see One Night in Miami
-
Speaking of comfort food, DR Elmore's Christmas dinner sounds very nice indeed.
-
Vibes to all as we go through a very bizarre holiday season.
-
TTFN.
-
It is hectic, isn’t it.
-
For dinner, it was watermelon radish sandwiches with truffle goat cheese and latkes made with radishes, potatoes and apple. Then radish bread for dessert.
-
Five!
All of our Christmas gifts, not that we send many, have been received except for one. Hopefully the replacement baby's first Christmas ornament will be delivered tomorrow.
-
I was so sorry to hear about Rebecca Luker, my deepest sympathies and prayers for comfort for all who knew and love her
-
I had to go for the covid test again
-
I spent two hours standing on line out in the cold waiting to put my name on the virtual line
-
When I arrived at 6:45 there were about 175 people ahead of me
-
But by 9 am I was advised I was on the list with a 6-8 hour wait and they would text me when it was my turn
-
So I headed home made a quick breakfast of ham and eggs and coffee
-
Then rejoicing that I could once again feel my toes and fingers I arrived at work by 9:45
-
The boss bought lunch
-
I had a very nice Apple butternut squash soup
-
I stopped at Julie's today and picked up several take-out favorites for the next few days. There's nothing like comfort food! (I have ChocZero here, too.)
Jeanne, just last week, I got me some ChocZero chocolate peppermint syrup and (don't tell Jane!) some chocolate hazelnut spread! Both are delish! ;D
-
The boss bought lunch
Nice!
-
Around 630 I finally received the message I had 30 minutes to arrive for my appointment
-
I was already waiting in the parking lot
LOL both sound bad to me.
Excellent. Vibes the next one is also negative.
-
Lost postcard:
The one I received from Davy Crockett aka Fess Parker.
-
I had a surprise COVID test opportunity today as I was at school/church testing some equipment and the principal showed up with the kits and asked if we wanted a COVID test. I mean, why would you turn down a COVID test??
-
I wouldn't.
-
I really should have gone and gotten one on my own.
-
Lost postcard:
The one I received from Davy Crockett aka Fess Parker.
Cool! My dad met and got a picture with Fess Parker when he (my dad) was in the army! I don't think he got his autograph, but I remember seeing the picture when I was a kid. I wonder if my mom or my sister still has it.
-
I was very upset when I discovered it missing after one of our moves. I still remember my excitement when I received the postcard. I was probably 7 years old.
-
Vixdad just handed me a box and said, “oh I forgot this was delivered today”
-
Mmmmmmm Godiva Under my tree now
-
By time I arrived home the text messag3 was there: negative
Great news.
-
Six!
-
Mmmmmmm Godiva Under my tree now
I’m surprised she fit under your tree. Was she clothed?
-
Glad for your good test result, DR vixmom.
-
Amazed at your restraint. Mine never would have made it under the tree.
-
I have never heard of ChocZero, but... interested!
-
I have never heard of ChocZero, but... interested!
If you haven't already found out, they have their own website, https://www.choczero.com/ (https://www.choczero.com/), and they also sell on Amazon. :)
-
And on that note (C#), I'm outta here. No one else is here in the building, so it's time for me to follow their lead and get going.
Be back later!
-
Trying to watch One Night in Miami - anytime the first thing on the screen is "inspired by real events" I want to shut it off - it's okay so far, nothing special. A fictional account of a real night - a meeting between Sam Cooke, Cassius Clay, Malcolm X, and Jim Brown. Based on some play I never heard of. Listed as an Amazon Original Film, even though Amazon had nothing to do with it other than purchasing it for release. The play began here in LA at the Rogue Machine Theater, a little 99-seat house in 2013.
-
Sad news about Rebecca Luker.
-
I have now seen The Prom on two 10-best lists (WaPo and USA Today). I wouldn't go that far, but it's nice to see some sheer entertainment being recognized for allowing some much-needed escape.
-
Sometimes You Have to Lie, a biography of Louise Fitzhugh, who wrote Harriet the Spy, is proving to be entertaining, if not terribly deep.
-
After the news of all the reprehensible pardons, entertaining is something to treasure.
-
Good night, all.
-
Listening to lots of different music this evening - right now the marvelously entertaining soundtrack to the 1996 Japanese film Shall We Dance - I love the film - I know I have it on DVD, but heaven knows where.
-
Previously heard - cast album of Ciao Rudy starring Marcello Mastroianni - weird but fun. A Decca Entartete CD featuring the second symphony of Ernst Krenek - which I liked very much.
-
I made tuna pasta salad - for the little four-person distanced visit tomorrow.
-
Mmmmmmm Godiva Under my tree now
Yum.
-
After the news of all the reprehensible pardons, entertaining is something to treasure.
I was reading Hell at the Breech and returned it to the library. As much as I enjoy Tom Franklin's writing the story was too depressing.
-
We received a surprise gift in the mail today, a tin of homemade bourbon bon bons. A neighbor also dropped off some Christmas cookies :)
-
Of course eating them made me feel sick. Sigh.
-
Last night I dreamed I was walking barefoot through the snow and carrying a full score for a number from 1776 to a rehearsal on Fifth Avenue. I have no idea why I was barefoot.
Were you in Central Park?
-
FYI, last night's lovely little repast:
Is that Skyline Chili?
-
I just this evening finished watching Rebecca Luker on the American Theater Wing’s 100th birthday concert.
-
You lost me at hazelnut.
I know that not everyone likes hazelnuts.
-
Otherwise, just about everything else that I've gotten of theirs has been pretty darned good. The only thing that was less than great (for me) is their white chocolate. That's just not very good...to me.
-
Well...
-
...since we're so close...
-
PAGE SEVEN DANCE!!
I probably wouldn’t call it the best film of the year, but I would certainly put it on a Top Ten list. I am thinking of watching it again tomorrow night.
You lost me at hazelnut.
I know that not everyone likes hazelnuts.
A couple of years ago, I received an entire box of those nasty hazelnut balls for Christmas. They were never touched.
