Well, you've read the notes, the notes were lonely, and now it is time for you to post until the lonely cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: AUDIOPHILE!
-
Hopefully, everyone had a good day, yesterday!
-
Today, I'll be going to work and come home whenever it's done...hopefully, sooner rather than later. But first, sleep.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept quite nicely and warmly in a cold room until around 4:00. Shortly thereafter, Annabelle crawled under the blankets to get warm. She sleeps high in the bookcase square in the draft from the open window, so I'm always surprised and happy to discover she's not a block of ice by early morning.

This afternoon I will see the Irish Rep's production of Meet Me In St Louis, which is a shortened version of the musical that played on Broadway in the 1980s. I love the film. but I did not love stage version. I'm looking forward to this to hear Joshie's orchestrations and John Bell's musical direction. My harpist friend Karen Lindquist plays in the ensemble.

-
That should be lovely, DR elmore3003.
-
Today is the DH's birthday. We have absolutely nothing planned.
-
We've been watching tours/demonstrations of English pipe organs. The DH is kind of a geek that way.
-
Lots of good opera and music in today's notes.
-
Saturday morning greetings! It kind of feels like Monday...

DR Elmore that’s been showing up on my Facebook and I’ve been meaning to ask you about it. If we’re back from our errands and have our groceries put away by 3, I might join you this afternoon. Save me a seat!
-
Good morning, all.
-
Interesting, indeed, how it kind of *doesn't* feel like a Saturday.
-
Good morning, all.
-
We're getting to have facetime with my uncle in Germany in about a half hour.
-
TOD:
Carol sent me an album of photos of myself from trips we've taken through the years with wishes for more adventures when this craziness is over.
I also received some high quality decaf that I've been enjoying as well as Springsteen's latest album and a gift certificate to Amazon.
-
High quality decaf ideas would be welcome here.
I drink both decaf and regular, depending. My only gripe with decafs is that I always crave a full bodied mouthfeel, regardless, and many decafs just tend to taste weak to me.

This was an Ethiopian blend from nuts.com.
I have been looking for some light roast decaf coffee lately, because it supposedly helps lower blood sugar. I try most anything that says that. But I haven't been able to find any in this stores. Only on Amazon, which I will likely use my gift card for.
-
My way of trying to get that mouthfeel sometimes is just using a half-tablespoon more. Doesn't always work, but hot brown water is not my favorite thing in the world.
-
I received the Indiegogo email asking about The Creature. Are people filling them out? I can’t remember.
-
I didn't.
-
If bk says it is helpful, I certainly will.
-
Well it's not Schwanda.
-
That is my favorite new theatrical comment that I will use in the upcoming year......
-
DR GEORGE the State of Indiana fiscal year ends on June 30.....so we had our "get it done" before summer was well under way.
-
Good morning!
-
Happy Boxing Day!
-
I'm glad you got your cards, DRs elmore and TCB!
-
Page 2!
-
LOLITA est arrivée. Can't wait to hear it.
Thank you for chasing this shipment down, BK.

The vessel with the pestle has the brew that is true.

Good Morning. The boys and I slept in a little today. They are very cuddly. Yesterdays festivities were very low key, but fun nonetheless. Everyone is planning a big "blow-out" for next Christmas, I'll just be happy to get through each day as they come.
In the meantime, we do what we can and stop complaining about it.

Yesterday Jane said
This would have been a good time to add your local brother to the video chat
You are assuming here that.
I didn’t try and that he is talking to me
-
TOD - our family all shopped each other’s Amazon wish lists, so there weren’t many surprises other than which things were from Richard and which we’re from Rob and Mary Linda. I got books and craft supplies and Richard got books and DVDs. That tells you a lot about how we each spend our days during the pandemic. Considering we have several more months of isolation, our gifts will come in handy.
-
Oh, dear, DR Vixmom...
-
Today is the DH's birthday. We have absolutely nothing planned.
Happy quiet day at home birthday to your DH.

I am very sorry. Your brother is just being petty now. He doesn't have to agree with your actions but he should take it personally and simply done the next best thing.

I'm killing time for the next hour before the Irish Rep show. Thatch, Stella, and I had a nap together. Annabelle refused to join us and napped elsewhere.
-
I just fed the cats so that's out of the way. Six minutes to show time. DR Ginny, are you watching?
-
I'm listening to a podcast featuring a great deal of Rebecca Luker music (sadly, nothing from Anything Goes). It's good in that there's much more music than talking, but the host always pronounces her husband's name "Bernstein." It's very irritating.
https://soundsofbroadway.com/podcasts/
-
Uploaded all of my music from Christmas. I did listen to The House Without a Christmas Tree. Ricky Ian Gordon's music sounds too much alike It's somewhat interesting at the beginning, then it all sounds the same, over and over again, endlessly.
Springsteen is up after Rebecca Luker.

Each day as it comes. Yes, sir.

Happy birthday to DR Singdaw's DH.
-
We did not get mail delivered today. Did anyone else? Or should we take it personally?
-
It's intermission, and it's quite enjoyable. Joshie's orchestrations are really good.
-

No, but I’m going to try to catch it before it closes. Looking forward to your reactions.
-
Yes, please tell them you received your item AND ask them why they are doing what they're doing.
-
I'm up, I'm up - eight hours of sleep.

Maybe it just needed to be trimmed down to a more manageable length.

Yes, please tell them you received your item AND ask them why they are doing what they're doing.
Will do.

Sadly, there was no place for input.
-
Can one of you email me what you received - they want to see.
-
Or PM it to me here.
-
One Amazon package has been sitting in New Jersey since 12/2 - it has apparently JUST left New Jersey. Class action lawsuit for Mr. deJoy and the USPS.
-
The podcast does have a few of Luker's songs for BK at the end, my favorite of which was For a Moment of Your Love from Carnival in Flanders. What a gorgeous track.
-
Thanks, DR Jane!
-
Thank you, DR John G.
-
Producer Roger Berlind has died.
-
We did get U.S. Postal mail today.
-
Three!
-
Are you sure? ;D
-
;D
-
The post office is open today. I haven't checked for mail yet, but then we don't always receive mail.
-
I arrived at our favorite grocery store this morning at 6:00AM, determined to beat the crowds.
Turns out, the store is closed today. At first I was annoyed, but these workers surely deserve an extra day off with their families.
-
Up after a short, but delightful, nap.

I can imagine your surprise, and agree with you it is nice they all got the day off. A mostly produce market we shop at closes on Saturdays for this very reason. We have gone twice on Saturdays and won't forget again.
-
We did not get mail delivered today. Did anyone else? Or should we take it personally?
We have received very little mail the past week. Today we received about 18 pieces , 10 of which were Christmas cards
-
I went online the other day and snagged the last available appointment this year for an eye exam.
-
2:3O today at our Costco
-
We’ve been going here for at least 12 years
-
Maybe more
-
We love our optometrist
-
I called and left a message asking if Vixdad could come along and have his eyes checked too and she said yes!
-
So we moseyed up there and arrived about 20 minutes early
-
While I was having my retinas scanned a young man arrived and said. He was there for his 2:30 appointment
-
Apparently when he received the confirmation notice he didn’t hit the confirmation button so the system cancelled it which is how I was able to get my appointment
-
My doctor , being the lovely person she is, told him to wait and she’d squeeze him in after us
-
But I have to admit I was very glad for his error
-
Then we picked out 2 new pairs of glasses or each of us
-
very nice of your doctor, Vixmom.
-
Watching a Julie Andrews Christmas special from 1987, featuring that great holiday tune, The Sun Won't Set, as performed by Andrews, John Denver and Placido Domingo.
-
Mae West said she was always glad to squeeze an extra person in.
-
I got the Indiego email today and forwarded it to MR BK at Kritzerland@gmail.com
-
We love our optometrist
Is his name Paul?
(a little She Loves Me reference)
-
There is one spot in Act Two where the visuals are poor, and the production suffers from no costumes and tight budget, but I had a lovely time at MEET ME IN ST LOUIS. I enjoyed the performances and Charlotte's narration, and it's musically very well done. The band gets featured for the overture, entr'acte, and exit music, and besides Karen the harpist, my friends Jeremy Clayton (Joshie's brother) and Suzy Perlman play beautifully under John Bell's direction. The piece lasts about an hour and 40 minutes.
-
Back from picking up a package and a lovely Christmas card from Miss Hayley Mills.
-
Then I went to Gelson's and got enchiladas - oh, I didn't get enchiladas because ever since I wrote about them they have been all bought up. I mean, they make about fifty of these a day - they had every other one - all the pastas and pot pies and everything - but the enchiladas - squat. Maybe I won't write about food anymore.
-
DR Vixmom sure lucked out.
-
I still need a new prescription. Worse is my lenses are completely scratched. Until my eye issues are under control it is too difficult to know exactly what the new prescription should be as my vision keeps changing minute by minute. So I continue treating my eyes and getting them checked. It is a very slow process.
-
I might not go back for my next check until I get vaccinated, depending when that is.
-
We did not get mail delivered today. Did anyone else? Or should we take it personally?
We have received very little mail the past week. Today we received about 18 pieces , 10 of which were Christmas cards
Did you look at the postmarks to see when they were mailed? We received one card today which was mailed on the 19th. I consider that appropriate for any time of the year.
-
On the other had, the baby's first Christmas ornament sent priority mail is "in transit" again, whatever that means. Maybe it is going from one Chicago post office to another one, again. ;D
-
bk, maybe someone in the Deli or Catering department would be willing to share with you when the enchiladas are typically put out in the cases.
-
Good idea Singdaw.
-
The only fun gift we received was the one we purchased, a Christmas outfit for the kid to wear during our video chat.
Younger son actually sent a gift this year, however, it is somewhere in the mail system.
Older son sent a gift, one that requires work so I do not consider it fun ;D
The best looking food stuff we received I don't dare eat.
Keith & I stopped exchanging gifts a long time ago. Instead we began traveling for, or around, Christmas.
-
So, it looks like a survey - has anyone taken it yet? Why they would do this a year later is the question I've asked them, along with why the headers asks if they received their perk, which kind of implies or infers some didn't.
-

Can you call in the morning and place an order for pick up?
-
I didn't take the IndieGogo survey.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
I received a gift card from Amazon, a very useful choice. I was told they'd ordered something more for me, but it hadn't arrived yet, so they added the Amazon card. To tide me over, I guess.
-
I exchange gifts with very few people these days. The ones I give are mostly to thank those neighbors who have helped me in some way.
-
I also need a new prescription for eyeglasses, but I'm sure the ophthalmologist will want to do a little something to my right eye and until that it done it's premature to have new glasses made. I'm sort of stuck.
And my January ophthalmology appointment was just preempted because I need to revisit the surgeon. This happens all the time: I might have next to nothing on my calendar, but yet have a schedule conflict. I've been trying to see the ophthalmologist since May 2019.
-
I was just listening to Sandy Bainum's (and BK's) THIS CHRISTMAS. Such a lovely CD! Perfection.
-
One Amazon package has been sitting in New Jersey since 12/2 - it has apparently JUST left New Jersey. Class action lawsuit for Mr. deJoy and the USPS.
I had something like that happen a couple months ago. It sat in Orange County for over a week. I felt certain they had lost it and filed for a refund with Amazon. I received the refund -- and then the package showed up.
I will say, though, that our mail delivery has improved since the USPS was told to put everything back to how it was.
-
Happy Birthday to Singdaw's DH.
-
I'm afraid I can't understand Vixmom's brother and sister-in-law's thinking, or that of others who see no need to be cautious. Did they believe the president? I simply can't understand it.
-
Apparently when he received the confirmation notice he didn’t hit the confirmation button so the system cancelled it which is how I was able to get my appointment
I'm glad you were able to get an appointment, Vixmom, but I sympathize with the other customer. I've seen some online confirmation notices that are terribly confusing and have seen others that simply don't work.
-
I will be glad when Brian can return and help me with the cleaning. I was tired of looking at the dust and attempted more than usual. My back is not happy. But that part of the apartment looks much better.
-
I've been thinking about appropriate punishments for those who received the presidential pardons. Manafort committed so many crimes. Maybe a prosecutor overlooked one or two and he can be brought to trial again. When you-know-who is out of office.
-
TTFN.

That was sweet to add the extra.

That is extremely frustrating. I hope you won't have a problem rescheduling.

I am shocked at the number of photos I have seen on facebook of "family" Christmas gatherings I deem too large during a pandemic. I know people who went ahead, keeping the windows open, and had someone small gatherings at Thanksgiving. They decided it was too much of a worry after the gathering and decided to spend Christmas in a group video chat.

G_d I hope so.

Thank you, DR Jeanne!

yum

Listening to Ella because... well... Manhattan
-
Good night, all.
-
Finished with my viewing and listening to the classic Lenya recording of Threepenny Opera - it's not well recorded (it's on Columbia and one only wishes it had been recorded here in their usual way) - the band doesn't sound like it's even miked at all and that we're hearing them through the actor's mics. It's still a great album because the cast is great and it all sounds very authentic.
-
Speaking of mail - none of mail has been forwarded. I filled out the necessary paperwork and got a mail confirmation as well as an email confirmation and nothing has been forwarded.
I am not surprised. Vibes it arrives soon.

Also what vermouth do you use?
-
Today, I'll be going to work and come home whenever it's done...hopefully, sooner rather than later. But first, sleep.
Have a good day, all!
Well, it all took longer than I expected, but I got done everything that I needed to do, so that's good. The fiscal year of 2020 is done with in our Collections Services computer system. :)

Hi, Jane.
-
Today is the DH's birthday. We have absolutely nothing planned.
A Very Happy (and belated, by now ::) ) Birthday to Singdaw's DH!! :D
-
Interesting, indeed, how it kind of *doesn't* feel like a Saturday.
Totally! Especially since I was at work for seven hours! I don't normally work on Saturday, but it had to be done...and it's done.
-
Hi George.

DR GEORGE the State of Indiana fiscal year ends on June 30.....so we had our "get it done" before summer was well under way.
