Well, you've read the notes, the notes didn't fly by, and now it is time for you to post until the flying by cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PREROGATIVE!
-
So, I've been looking online to see if I could find anything about my doorbell and I actually found what I think is the instruction manual. It's nice to have that, and it has a little Troubleshooting section. The battery that I got last night was for the pushbutton that's attached outside next to my door, but I'll try replacing all the batteries. Then, I'll from there. I'm actually going to go shopping with my sister tonight, so I can get them tonight.
-
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
All was well until 4:00, when the chilly kitty invasion began with Stella, followed by Annabelle who crawled under the blankets and kept sticking a claw into my left knee.
-
I think I was awake most of the hour and forty-five minutes till the alarm rang, but I did have a weird dream about helping the Trapp Family escape from Austria with a briefcase containing a recording of a Hitler broadcast. During the dream the briefcase was confiscated during some banquet at a fancy hotel, and I was talking to musicians in a Broadway pit why I wore my tuxedo to the performance instead of changing at the theatre. The reason? I had been to a banquet at a hotel where the briefcase was taken.
-
Then I had an anxiety attack about today's appointment to learn the results of that CT-scan several weeks ago. The last time I did this, I learned I had a tumor and needed surgery.
-
I'm also concerned that I need to go with my walker to an area of the East Side I do not know, and I worry about getting around.
-
~~~TRAVEL AND TEST RESULTS VIBES OF COMFORT~~~ for you, DR elmore3993!
~~~TEST RESULTS VIBES~~~ for DR TCB, as well.

This morning I am going to do the shopping that I was going to do yesterday.
-
Rain rain rain.....it will probably be starting when I get home.
My sister wants to go to the Goodwill about 11 a.m. so we shall do that.....it is Senior Day......so it will be impossible to get down the aisle where the knickknacks are..... Just as there will be a long line tomorrow at the register for old people returning knickknacks they don't have room for.....and everything else they bought today.
-
When I was reading MR BK's story about the phone call from Vitello's......I kept hearing Cindy Williams' voice in my head:
"Your stunt c%&* is here....."
-
I shall return......
I just saw a story on my local news about a man who had made a portrait of President Trump using all kinds of nuts.....I think this is the definition of form follows function.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I don’t want to get up.

Curious, DR John G. - do you use some sort of software to capture recipes you see on the Internet that you want to try? Or some other organized system?

My main dream, if you can call it that, was an abstraction of arranging the covers for proper warmth which related to somehow or other placing little musical phrases to best advantage.
-
It makes no sense to me, either.
-
The more BK describes The Boys from Brazil, the less I realize I actually remember of it. I don’t know which copy I have, probably not an up to date one, but I’m adding it to the watch pile.
-
Oh, the indignity!
-
LOL DR singdaw. Yesterday at the car place, I saw a van with antlers on it.
-
Last night we watched the musical version of GOODBYE, MR. CHIPS (1969) with Peter O'Toole. We'd watched the original with Robert Donat the night before.
The musical certainly had its problems, but it is still an entertaining film.
I devoted a chapter to the 2 films in my long OOP 1975 book on remakes, MAKE IT AGAIN, SAM. Interviewed director Herb Ross & producer Arthur Jacobs.
-
Curious, DR John G. - do you use some sort of software to capture recipes you see on the Internet that you want to try? Or some other organized system?
I simply text them to myself.
-
I liked the musical version as well DR DRUXY.

Sending vibes to our gentlemen for their tests. May the results bring good news!

I made my annual trip to the cemetery this morning. I like to leave flowers on my friend's grave for when her mother gets there. My friend was pretty antisocial, so I think it brings her mother some comfort to see a friend remembers her.
-
I visit more than once a year, though. I like to refresh the flowers on my parents' and my best friend's graves as well, as well as the antisocial friend's.
-
I should have mentioned that it is the antisocial friend's birthday, which is why I expect her mother will go there today.
-
When I got home the saguaro was gone. I was hoping to see the removal. I was only gone for a couple of hours.
-
Good Morning. Not much to report today. The boys and I stayed in bed a little longer this morning. DD Ben's back legs are annoying him. Looks like no stairs for him for a while. When I walk the boys, it's on a double leash and DD Leo is a spaz and drags DD Ben all over the place. I'm sure that hasn't been good for DD Ben's back legs. So, I'll just carry Ben down the stairs for a while.
-
Speaking of tests - I got an email yesterday that my school (while closed for break) is offering another COVID test today, so I'm going to head on over and get swabbed.
-
I am home. I need to have an ultrasound in June for my 6-month checkup, and the CT-scan showed everything pertaining to lower abdomen remains cancer free. The new office on East 54th Street was easier to get to than I expected.
-
From DR TCB:
The downtown area of Washington state’s little Bavarian town of Leavenworth Is currently being evacuated du to a bomb threat.
I am glad I didn't see this until today, after the charming town reopened.
-
DR George our Fred Meyer has an electronic section. I often find batteries there that are not out in the "stacks".
-
DR TCB, Best wishes all goes well tomorrow and the tests are not too difficult.
-
Good news, Elmore.

Fantastic medical news from DR elmore3003. Thrilled for you!

This is a beautiful reason to leave flowers. I am very moved by it.

I thought it might have been.
-
DR elmore congratulations on your good news.

It must have been very large. Did you take a photo of it?
-
I'm up, I'm up - seven hours of sleep.

Great news on both fronts (being cancer-free AND the easy travelling)! :D

I didn't think to check there. Thanks for the suggestion, Jane.

You are welcome. I am surprised you were not directed to that department to begin with.

BTW our Fred Meyer jewelry department doesn't even change watch batteries.

It was a mature cactus when we moved here 40 years ago. They grow arms at about age 75, so this was an old cactus.
-
Wow, and thanks for the photo.

It's too bad that it had to be taken down.

Wednesday afternoon greetings! We’ve had a very quiet day here today, but have caught up on some reading. I started one of the books Richard gave me for Christmas - The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett. It’s the January selection for one of my book groups.
-
Glad to hear DR Elmore received good medical news and hoping DR TCB does, too!
-
Had a work session involving the music for project one, then a quick Zoom session with one of the performers, the motor car started, but I'm holding off going to the mail place until Amazon Delivery actually gets there, probably around four, and now I'm having a chicken Caesar salad.
-

When I got home the saguaro was gone. I was hoping to see the removal. I was only gone for a couple of hours.
All buildings in the vicinity are still standing, I hope.

I’ll be interested in what you think of it.

Excellent news, Elmore. That’s something to celebrate.
-
Jane, to text myself, I list myself among my contacts. Then I just enter my name when I send the text. I get two copies of everything.

I suggested it for my group and didn't get a response. What do you think so far?

I just read that Dawn Wells has died from complications of covid :(

I’m only 20 pages in, so I really can’t express an opinion yet.

Hello, everyone.
-
Very glad to hear your good news, Larry.
-
I had a much-needed visit to the chiropractor today, followed by a stop to pick up a bargain Italian meal.
-
It's a beautiful day here and the streets were relatively quiet. What a difference that makes!
-
Yesterday, for me, was like a mega Mercury retrograde. In fact, since the pandemic started there's been a lot of that. I don't mean Covid stuff -- just all sorts of foul-ups and miscommunication. Very annoying.
-
Vibes to all.
TTFN.

10.6 mile bike ride, nice and chilly - the best time to go out. I listened to the entire 1994 cast recording of Show Boat which I love because there is just enough music not to be too long. Speaking of "Show Boat", I'm almost ready to watch all 3 movies in a row. It might be my favorite classic Broadway show - or a tie with The King and I
-
DR Jane - I checked my liquor cabinet and it seems that I have Martini and Rossi - Rosso. So, red vermouth, I think I got it to make Negroni's. I'm going to try it in a manhattan this eve - I'm assuming it's a sweet vermouth.
-
DR Matthew, perfect. Let me know what you think. I hadn't realized Rosso was Martini and Rosso.
-
DR Ginny, read faster ;)

Good news from Elmore

Good test results Vibes for TCB

Crazy little day. Listening to stuff for project one and making corrections, Zooming, telephonic conversations, two trips to the mail place, and am finally listening to music other than mine own. An opera by Berthold Goldschmidt - not quite as good as the other opera I've heard, this one's a little more "modern" but it's very good and is, of course, part of the Decca Entartete series.
-
Be careful out there.
-
DR Matthew, perfect. Let me know what you think. I hadn't realized Rosso was Martini and Rosso.
Most definitely sweeter.
-
Be careful out there.
Should that be, "Be careful in there"?
-
Ready to go read.
-
Gratuitous post No. 100!
-
Started listening to an interesting book called Thirty Names of Night. I fear it's going to be depressing, but I'm about 20% into it and am liking it so far. Don't know that I've encountered any Muslim trans novels before.
-
But I want to get back to Greenwillow. I'd like to finish that before midnight tomorrow.
-
One last book for 2020.
-
So, I'm off.
-
Good night, all.
-
Fell asleep for forty minutes whilst checking out a video of the Nicholas Hytner production of Janacek's The Cunning Little Vixen, which looks and sounds terrific and the ten minutes I saw before nodding off was just delightful and the polar opposite of that disgusting Eurotrash version I endured an hour of.
-
Now listening to a fun and interesting Weill ballet pantomime called Zaubernacht, written when he was twenty - it had been reconstructed from a piano reduction in the 1990s for a recording, but several pages from the piano reduction were missing so the reconstructionist did his best and the recording was made and got good reviews. Then, as fate would have it, Weill's original orchestrations were found in a safe at Yale, where they'd been sitting for decades because some curator died before cataloguing it. This recording is of Weill's version. It's very interesting, scored for eight or nine instruments and you can hear his musical voice starting to emerge but not quite formed yet. He used some of the music in a piece called Quodlibet but this is the only recording of this full version.
-
What is this page four malarkey?
-
Thinking about a Ralph's trip later for some water, but I'm not sure if I'll do it or not. If I don't go tonight or tomorrow, I will run out of waters.
-
Be careful out there.
I haven't had a proper drink since August. This sounds like a great idea, if only I had purchased something at Fred Meyer today.
-

One last book for 2020.
I just finished my last book of the year. I will begin "The Best of Me" tonight and either finish it in 2021 or stop reading it.
-
DR Matthew, perfect. Let me know what you think. I hadn't realized Rosso was Martini and Rosso.

I think so. I don't like sweet drinks as a rule, but this was pretty good

-
Earlier today, I set my alarm on my phone for tomorrow morning. I just got a tweet from my phone telling me that it was time for me to be in bed.
-
I couldn’t figure out what musical to watch this evening.
-
I made it through the opening number in SHE LOVES ME before I decided to pass on that tonight.
-
I considered watching THE KING AND I, but decided that Watching the little house of Uncle Thomas might cause me to slit my wrists.

TCB what time is your alarm set for?

There was another football bowl game this evening. After the game, they were showing the players celebrating in the locker room. All was good until one of the players dropped the beautiful crystal trophy. It shattered into a million pieces.
-
8:00 a.m. Normally,I wouldn’t need to set an alarm, but the last two weeks I have been oversleeping in the morning
-
I could have made that football post into four posts

Goodnight. Continued vibes for tomorrow.

I went shopping with my sister and she fed me a leftover vegetarian burrito that she had.
