Well, you've read the notes, the notes finished the book, and now it is time for you to post until the twenty-one cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ACCOLADE!
-
Again, congrats on finishing the book, BK! Can't wait to find out more about it, and to actually read it!
-
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, everyone.
-
Last night's antics with DRs TCB, George, and Jane put me in mind of this:
-
Glad of the news of bk's latest book.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I just watched Melania's farewell number á la Benanti. It was fun.
-
And funny.

I had a long dream last night in which I was working in some library. When I finished grad school, my first boss was a wonderful lady named Helen Ball, who was in charge of Miami U's new King Library. I was working for her in this dream, and one of my co-workers was Eva Rogers, with whom I worked at Middletown's Office Outfitters between Sept. 1973 and 1978.
-
Today I need to make my appointment with my accountant and begin putting my 2020 taxes together.
-
One more day and the Fat Orange Slug is out. I can only hope that in short order he is bankrupt, the Trump Organization is rubble, and he is revealed to the world as the corrupt, lying, narcissistic bullshit artist we New Yorkers always knew him to be.
-
BK, have you ever seen the film of La Boheme with Mirella Freni? I saw this when I was in college around 1966, and it's quite good. I think this is when I first saw her perform and fell in love.

Kitty cleanup is over. Annabelle deigned to eat her Fancy Feast this morning, so I'm happy.
-
My neighbor Judy gets crazier every day. She's been very kind about occasionally bring up packages from the lobby and leaving them at my door, but it still means I have to go to the lobby to get my mail. I'd just as soon pick everything up while I'm down there than crawling on the floor in front of my door to pick up things she's left on the floor in front of my door.
Two nights ago she dropped off a shopping bag full of packages at my door, and I thought, I'm not expecting this many packages. Well, it turned out two were for me. The other four were two packages for Judy (!), one for Roberta who's also on three, and one for Ann on five. Did she expect me to deliver them? I left the three for her and Roberta at her door and took Ann's - who was out of town - back to the lobby.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Congrats to MR BK on finished the book.
Congrats to DR ELMORE on his new job at the post office.

I am pleased to announce the publication of the 35th play in THE HOLLYWOOD LEGENDS collection, ETHEL OF THE BARRYMORES, which is available in paperback and Kindle edition on Amazon. Performance rights are available.
Back in the 1980s when I first decided to write a one-person play, I was trying to decide whether to my subject would be Clark Gable or John Barrymore.
Ultimately, for commercial reasons, I chose GABLE, and the play had several successful productions. A year or so later, Christopher Plummer did another one-person play on John Barrymore, so I moved onto other subjects (e.g. Spencer Tracy, Carole Lombard, Al Jolson, etal.)
Always fascinated with the Barrymore Family (Lionel, John and Ethel), I've have now written a play that deals with all of The Royal Family of Broadway, told from Ethel's viewpoint.
I do hope you will enjoy it.

I have way too many favorite Herrmann scores to name.
BK - I shall have to get it out and listen to it, but does your description of the Herrmann recording of Wuthering Heights pertain to the sound of the original LPs, the CDs, or all of the above? I'd always assumed (and we all know where that gets us) that the CDs were LP transfers, and probably not even good ones.
Secondly, who owns that now, and is there any possibility of getting permission to remix/remaster from the original elements? Or would you now prefer to see that effort taken with the French one?

I've booked my tax appointment for Feb. 22, so that's one more thing off my list of duties.

Ladies and gentlemen, an update:
The Christmas tree is still standing.
We took the ornaments off over the weekend, but we weren't quite ready to take the tree out yet so the lights are still on it and it's still great to have them on in the evening.
It's been an amazing tree. I already forget the type, but it has to be one of the hardiest we've ever had. You can see the age on some of the branches if you look closely, but it still stands proud and tall, with no sagging or discoloration, and with surprisingly few needles dropping, even after ornament removal.
We cut it and brought it in a week after Thanksgiving. This is already the longest we've been able to keep a tree, so regardless of which day we take it out, it's a winner.

OMG, thank you. We saw it in college, too, and I've never thought to look for it since.

In two hours I'll be at the dermatologist for my six-month check and to have the stitches removed from my arm. It healed beautifully.
Something I didn't know before: When the doctor said I'd have them for two weeks, I asked why so long, when my two Mohs surgeries had only required one week. He said it's like real estate -- location, location, location. The face and head heal very quickly, arms and legs take longer, and feet are the longest. It has to do with distance from the heart. Who knew?
-
Chas, I'd thought it was because the feet and arms had almost constant use. That's very interesting to know the real reason.
-
I was excited to read on FB about BK's novel being finished. I knew the details would be here.
-
Also to add anniversary wishes for Ginny and Richard.
-
My uncle visit was most enjoyable. But when he is ready for you to leave - he's READY FOR YOU TO LEAVE.
It is nice to be reminded where I stand in the $$ line - but it's hard to respond to such information.

Spot on.

I just watched Melania's farewell number á la Benanti. It was fun.

Agreed!! :D
-
Where would the soaps be without eavesdropping and constant daily repitition of the same soppy material?
-
Back! With sutures removed, the freezing of a few things, and that should be that for another six months.
-
Chas, I'd thought it was because the feet and arms had almost constant use. That's very interesting to know the real reason.
I would imagine that it also depends on any number of factors for each person. He was just giving me the general idea.
-
I'm up, I'm up - a little over six hours of sleep.

Wow. Keith would never let me keep a tree that long, no matter how good it looked. I am glad you were able to enjoy it.

Hmmm, I have never had them on my foot. I know the ones on my back take months to heal.

I am glad you had a nice visit. I like that your uncle lets you know when it is time to leave. That way you never over stay your visit.

Back! With sutures removed, the freezing of a few things, and that should be that for another six months.
Congrats on not needing more than that.

Hopefully we will have been vaccinated before our 6 month dermatologist check in March. Either way, that is one visit we will not postpone.
-
Still can’t register for the covid vaccine but I do have my second shingles shot tomorrow.

I keep forgetting that I need to get on the waiting list for that!

I guess I will go over to my brother's house tonight for some chili. He has invited me several times - and I don't want to be ONE of THOSE people.
-
I read what's his name's farewell address - I just couldn't stand to hear his voice again......it was about what I expected.....
I just remember the wonderful beginning of SO LONG, DEARIE - and Miss Channing singing those wonderful words....

More than one person has suggested that the band play the song "Hit the Road, Jack" as he boards the plane tomorrow.
I don't like that song for obvious reasons, but I would gladly hear THAT again.....

Barnum knows something is up.
I have the tv on in the computer room and the desk light on so he won't be in the dark. I probably won't be home until around 8 p.m.
He is letting me know his displeasure at this breach of protocol already.

Tuesday evening greetings! Today I finished the knit blanket for our not-born-yet great niece and spent some time texting with her paternal grandmother.
-
I’ve also been working on my schedule for this weekend’s virtual ALA Midwinter conference. My friend Sue and I will attend together on our computers.
-
I'm glad the workday is over.
-
I have a load of laundry on and should probably think about dinner.
-
Listening to Springsteen's new album.

All I want to do is read my book. I'm such a lazy sort.

There's a Democrat in the Virginia state legislature whose last name is Filler-Corn.
I swear, you can't make this stuff up.

We had a beautiful sunset this evening. I didn't want to come in from my walk.
-
As of today Bryan is 95% protected from covid. I am very relieved.
-
Fingers crossed Craig can book an appointment for the near future. He is supposed to receive info tomorrow regarding how to sign up and where to go for it.
-
Good Evening - its been a day, and I'll just leave it at that. I think it's the wind.
-
The answer is blowin' in the wind.
-
Or so they say.
-
Gratuitous post #80.
-
Good night, everyone!
-
The answer is blowin' in the wind.
There were no answers today!!!!

Great news, Jane!
-
Finished one book. Now it's time to find another.
-
Good night, all.
-
I'm watching MSNBC and they said that it's been reported that Steve Bannon has been pardoned by Trump. That, of course, could actually open up Trump to the possibility of Bannon testifying against him, and Bannon not being able to plead the 5th Amendment. ::)
;D
-
There could also be as many as 150 people on Trump's pardon list when it's released. :o
-
And now...
-
...since we're so close...
-
four!!!!
-
As of today Bryan is 95% protected from covid. I am very relieved.
Great news, Jane!
It is :)
-
I'm up, I'm up - oh, wait.
-
Let's see...
-
I picked up some packages.
-
I futzed and finessed the final ten pages. I really thought I'd be completely revising the final two paragraphs, but I was surprised to find that I liked them.
-
Then I had my celebratory lunch from Stanley's - the chicken pasta thing I love and it was superb.
-
Then, whilst listening to Manon, this time with Beverly Sills (a MUCH better recording and performances, which makes all the difference in the world), I implemented the little Muse Margaret things, and I adjusted some things in the first third of the book, stuff I decided to change a bit once I was in the second half of the book.
-
That all took quite awhile.
-
Then I wanted a celebratory sweet but knew it couldn't be pastry-related, so I ordered some Nutter Butter ice cream from a fancy little jernt close by. It's quite fun.
-
Then I watched yet another Hansel Und Gretel - this one from Australia. It was sung pretty well, but the witch wasn't fun enough, and the costumes were modern, which I'll never understand, the sets were terrible - so, thus far the only video that I've really liked is the traditional Met production. I would love a go at this because no one seems to understand how much humor is in this and how much kids would love that aspect. Alas... But the music!
-
Now, I'm listening to Living Stereo and Miss Anna Moffo, Richard Tucker, and Robert Merrill do La Traviata. What sound, what singing. Some pretty famous tunes, too.
-
That will be followed by I Eat A - Aida - with Leontyne Price and Jon Vickers.
-
Since I've been quite a pig, but in reality have only had one meal, I am thinking of a bagel and cream cheese.
-
I seem to be a voice in the wilderness.
-
Or perhaps I'm a wilderness in the voice.
-
I know not.
-
I not know.

Is anyone going to watch any of the inauguration tomorrow?

Hi, Tom.
-
Earlier this evening, they showed a limo/pickup truck waiting outside the gates of a prison for some guy who was expecting to be given a pardon. Supposedly he had tried to have his wife killed and it was some big internet story. I have no idea who that was and whether he got his pardon.

Yike! :o
-
I'd just read that they released a list of 73 people who were pardoned, and 70 commutations, but "the list issued by the White House does not include the outgoing president or any of his family members, despite earlier reports."

Steve Bannon, one of the greatest scum on Earth gets a pardon. It may not help him.

This is most unseemly.

Most.

It just isn't done.
