Well, you've read the notes, the notes were final and proofed, and now it is time for you to post until the proofed cows come home, finally.
-
And the word of the day is: ZEUGMA!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.
-
Topic of the Day: Star Wars. ;)
I've seen a few "real" war movies, but not a lot. I'll have to think about this one.

Good night, Jane. I'm off to bed, too.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!

This morning I see my urologist and learn the results of that last MRI. I had my second panic attack last night, and I'm a bit weepy at the moment. I've known several friends who have been through prostate cancer treatment and beat it, but I'll breathe easier when I know the actual state of things.

My mom and dad probably watched some of the old ones on TV when I was a kid, but Patton was my first one to watch on purpose, and at a theater. I was sort of dragged to it by a friend who was a little older than me, who had always felt a strong connection to his dad's participation in the war in Germany. Well, I ended up liking it -- the acting (it was my introduction to George C. Scott and very likely Karl Malden), the music, the scope, the color.
Interestingly (to me), it played its first run in the same fabulous suburban Cleveland theater where we saw Lawrence of Arabia in re-release for the first time in roughly that same year...followed by The Godfather which was my first time experiencing actual lines at a movie theater.
But I digress!
Patton
M*A*S*H
Full Metal Jacket
Platoon
And in more recent times, Dunkirk in 70mm IMAX
Although not a war movie aficionado as such, I'm sure I'm leaving out a few that I've really liked. I've also had Paths of Glory sitting here in a to-be-watched stack for the longest time.

Paul Kayanek IS Ronald Reagan in my non-political play, which deals with the star of such films as KNUTE ROCKNE: ALL AMERICAN, KINGS TOW, SANTA FE TRAIL and BEDTIME FOR BONZO before he ran for Governor of California.
Enjoy!

Vibes of all kinds for DR ELMORE!
-
A new mystery novel!!! I am intrigued.
-
I was wandering around Goodwill this morning....and found a nice Ashley accent chair to go in the TV/Dance room.....once my sister takes her yellow chair home (she declared she wanted it two years ago).
So now it is in the computer room where it does NOT match the carpet.
But it was only $19.99, with my 10% discount $17.99, so I didn't want it to get away. When I walked down another aisle, another gentleman stopped to look at it....turned it upside down and then sat on it. Then he walked away, so I moved in and took the customer tag......
I imagine he was surprised when he returned to the area.

Oh my, on their website, my chair is sold for $284-$376. It doesn't seem to be available in print fabric anymore, just leather or blue plush fabric.....
-
Congratulations on your find, DR Jrand70. That's a great buy.
-
Good Morning. When I got to work this morning, I "woke up" my computer and was starring at the HHW page, looks like I never got passed the notes to post yesterday. Yep, it's that sort of week
-
The weather has been great the past few days. Makes for good outdoor music classes! All the shows are going well. Doing a show now is so different. Can't get the kids to understand that it's up to them to record their vocals, and there's a deadline for that to happen. "I think I'll have time this weekend" - I'm like "No, when we are done here, get the vocal recording done". Hopefully, we'll find a groove soon.
-
Thursday morning greetings! I am definitely on "Plan B" this morning, having slept until almost 9am - very late for me.

And I am home. On a scale of 1-5, with 1-2 being no concern to 5 being Big Concern, the MRI shows a spot on my prostate that is a 5. Dr Glickman wants me to have a biopsy in the very near future, and he says the procedure will be similar to a colonoscopy in terms of procedure and time involved. Then, most likely, radiation treatments.

I wonder if the radiation treatment would consist of the implanting of "seeds", which is the procedure a friend of mine went through several years ago. He said he walked around like a duck for a few days, but all was well after that.

Yup. It takes a lot of patience. Especially sad are those that are not capable of figuring it out and don't have advocates to help them. I have been very moved by stories of people in NY who were helping strangers get appointments.
-
So it's different in every state, different in every city or region of every state (in some cases?), and different according to which HMO or other medical group you're in. Does that sound about right?
I REALLY lucked out, then, with this CDC/vaccine management website the Nuvance Health group in my area linked up to.
It just: worked.

I found my chair - it is discontinued....but it is an even bigger bargain.
I looked at the tag again and it is "As Is" - there is a metal bar on one of the back legs where the wood is cracked.....so it has seen better days.....

An acquaintance here in town posted on Facebook that she finally found an appointment down in Stamford CT. I asked her why she'd be going all that way, since I'd just used the local hospital that's four miles away (from her, too). She replied that they (whoever "they" were) had given her a choice between Stamford and a couple of other distant towns, and she just chose that one. No other info. (Typical Facebook response, I must say, and I must also say that she's probably not the brightest bulb in the bunch in the first place. So yeah, typical FB response.)
So why then did MY "they" provide me with a link that got me right in, right here in town? I just don't get it.

That's amazing. Congrats again!
I did the metal bar on wood thing with a computer desk I assembled about twenty years ago. When I got rid of it, it was still solid as a rock.

Does the color work in the intended TV/Dance room?

They could have filled up by the time she went into the system. If I were her I would want to know what you did differently that I might have missed.

Bruce I apologize for suggesting CSUN. I forgot they are now only doing 2nd vaccinations.

I sure would, too, but she didn't seem the least bit interested in anything but posting about her own appointment. :)

Bruce I apologize for suggesting CSUN. I forgot they are now only doing 2nd vaccinations.
That bugs me that a place would only give 2nd vaccinations. It would be so much easier that when you make your appointment to be vaccinated, you choose 2 days, 1 for each shot. Or if you do a walk-up, you make an appointment for the second shot right then and there. It saddens me that they are making this process difficult for some people - the people that really need to be vaccinated. <end of rant>
-
LOL DR JANE - yes it works much better in the other room where there is a PLAIN rug......
Good news DR CHAS SMITH - solid as a rock is good. No dances are scheduled until AFTER the pandemic has eased up.....
-
Also, of course, that's very much the Facebook thing. People don't post to be questioned, or to actually receive new information. I mean, God forbid.

We feel extremely lucky to have been able to get appointments, and the numerous people Keith helped continue to thank him.
Our country received fewer vaccinations per person compared to other counties in the state.
Spokane County and Clark County are about the same size — 530,000 people to about 500,000. By Week last week Spokane County had received approximately 50% more vaccinations than Clark County received.

Vaccine booked for Monday and then the 29th of March for second one. North Hollywood, which was completely available last night but couldn't be booked, was full up today, but West Hollywood was open for all times so I grabbed 11:30. It's on Santa Monica Blvd. probably between Fairfax and La Brea.

Wow! Excellent!

Actually, the corner of La Cienega and Santa Monica Blvd. - used to be a bowling alley then a roller skating rink in the 1980s.

I like that you are already booked for your second appointment, plus by the number of days you know you will be getting the Moderna vaccine.

Who here has had the Moderna - reading about possible side effects makes me want to cancel immediately. The only thing I've read is about Phizer or whatever it's called, and that's usually just sore arms.

I read that quickly as “I used to be a bowling ally”. I thought you were cheering on the teams

You won't have to wait in a long car line :) Good vibes the process is simple-just don't forget your mask & remember you have to wait 15 minutes after the vaccination before you can leave.
-
Who here has had the Moderna - reading about possible side effects makes me want to cancel immediately. The only thing I've read is about Phizer or whatever it's called, and that's usually just sore arms.
Keith & I had Moderna. I know many people who have had it without side effects.
First shot I had a sore arm which really wasn't a big deal. The suggestion is to get it in the opposite side you sleep on, if you sleep on your side. I of course avoid all shots in my right arm. Oh, and I slept great that first night.
First shot for Keith was a bit more of a sore arm. That night a low grade fever, nothing really bad. He also had a mild headache. The problem with headaches is knowing if it is just the weather or due to the shot.
-
Second shot was basically the same for Keith. His mild headache lasted longer, his arm hurt less though he still get a red arm that looked worse than it felt.
Second dose for me bothered my arm less. Chills and low grade fever the first night which were not a big deal and gone by morning. A worse than usual migraine the next day and I didn't feel great. All in all it really was not bad and nothing compared to covid unless you are lucky and asymptomatic.
As Keith reminded me, they only last 24-48 hours. We still worked out and we still functioned.
-
Two weeks after your second vaccinations, if you are exposed to covid, the quarantine time is maybe a couple of days vs 14 days. There may be other advantages if you can show you have been vaccinated. Right now they deal with travel but there might be other work related ways down the road.
-
Very good vaccination news from bk!

I found my chair - it is discontinued....but it is an even bigger bargain.
I looked at the tag again and it is "As Is" - there is a metal bar on one of the back legs where the wood is cracked.....so it has seen better days.....

I really like that style, Jrand...and the fact that it's a bigger bargain! Hopefully, the metal bar continues to hold everything together!

I completely agree with everything, except for the coffee panel. Three reasons: I rarely drink coffee, I never make it at home, AND there's no one else here to wake up before. ::)

How rude! >:(

VIBES to you, DR Larry... we are praying for you!!! The kitties are a big source of comfort, take advantage!
Annabelle's already asked me what I left her in the will.
Tell her Thatch and Stella!

I want to make totem poles out of fruit cans.
When I was in the play where we performed in cars out at Boston Harbor Marina here in Olympia, I had a couple of lines that was the actor's choice, and I actually used that line! One line was, "I only made it to [Webelos, Cub Scouts, etc.]. I was actually in Webelos, so I chose that. The other actor has a line and then mine is, "We only... [actor's choice]." And I said, "We only made totem poles out of fruit cans." ;D

Congrats, BK!
