Well, you've read the notes, the notes were took I Be Profane for pain, and now it is time for you to post until the profane cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: AMOROUS!
-
Nice cover, BK! Can't wait to read it!
-
Topic of the Day: Pellegrino's (https://pellegrinositaliankitchen.com/) is a local restaurant and has probably the best Monte Cristo that I've ever had. :) It's the only thing I order when I go there for lunch (it's not available during their dinner hours).
-
Red Wagon (https://www.redwagontumwater.com/) here in Tumwater has a pretty good Club sandwich. I get that every once in a while. I usually go there on Tuesdays because they have a stamp card, and Tuesday is Double-Stamp Day. When you get 10 stamps, you get fries and a drink for free.
-
I just might get that today. But first, I need to get some sleep.
Good night, BK, and have a good day, all!
-
I used to love club sandwiches at my father's restaurant - they did them perfectly although a bit heavy on the mayo, but I stopped that right away.
-
Good morning, all!
-
Today is my vaccine day, and I wish the location were anywhere else. It's at 42nd Street between First and Second Avenues, literally next to the UN, and it will be a long and expensive taxi ride to get there and back. I'll leave around 9:45.
-
Good morning, everyone.
-
Good to see DR TCB briefly last night.
-
~~~TRAVEL VIBES~~~ this morning for DR elmore3003!
-
I had a long dream last night. For some reason I was hanging out in some deli until it closed, and then I walked back to my apartment, only it was all in a different part of the city, maybe uptown. I don't remember the geography now. It was quite late when I got to my apartment building, and I ran into my neighbor Pixie, who lives below me, and I invited her in to visit. As she was leaving, my door opened and my brother Randy stepped in. He and his wife decided to visit me in New York at the end of their vacation. The hall was filled with bags and luggage, and their children were running around. Only . . . Randy's wife wasn't his wife. It was Carolyn, my brother Macbeth's first wife/ We were stacking the luggage and bags in a corner of my 3-room (I wish!) apartment when I woke.
Very much looking forward to reading bk's new book. Apparently it takes place in September, April, June, or November, as the old rhyme goes.
Good morning, all.
Congrats. Would Uber or Lyft be any cheaper?
That’s about as ugly as stories get.
Oh, God, that town becomes White Trash Central more and more every day.
-
I have to make the bed and prepare to head out. I have about an hour.
-
The one dream I remember was the most simple one ever, but I can hardly even recall what it was. I only have a vague image in my head of what I was looking at in the dream. It was a silly, irritating thing in which I kept trying to do the same thing over and over, and I believe that at one point I woke up and then fell back into it.
-
Sandwiches are a huge subject with me. Will have to think about this.
-
Book cover looks great. But I checked my mailbox, and where the hell is it??
Well, be careful which cab you get in, and don’t even joke about your name being Roger Thornhill.
-
But I checked my mailbox, and where the hell is it??
We must file a PayPal dispute immediately!
-
Moving On...
-
To TWO!!
-
What a great book cover and title!!!! I am excited!!!!
But I haven't received mine yet either.....
-
I read the story that DR JOHN G posted.....but I almost couldn't read it all.
-
Vaccine appointments in Indiana are now open to folks 55+, folks with Downs Syndrome, and those now receiving treatment for cancer.
-
I also like a good CLUB Sandwich when I am out. I like the ones they make at Applebee's.....
At home I like to make a roast beef and cheese sandwich with mayo, pickle, and tomatoe (thank you Dan Quayle).
I also like a nice toasted cheese sandwich - sometimes with tomatoe. And a nice chicken salad sandwich on toast.
-
Good morning!
-
Vibes for DR elmore!
-
I had to file my complaint with PayPal.
I agree. Even though I shared it, I had to skip to the end.
Meetings. Meetings. I got meetings. Anybody wanna buy my meetings?
-
And I am home. Both taxi drivers were absolute saints, and the staff at Affiliated Physicians were amazing. I am very grateful for their kindness and patience. The site is laid out clearly, and the organization is like clockwork. I got there around 10:20 and got my vaccination about 15 minutes than my appointment time. By 10:45 I was in recovery and I was released at 11:00.
-
Good morning.
-
They are opening up appointments for my age group in about an hour. I hope I can get an appointment.
This was a surprise to everyone, I think. There had been no talk of any age group below 65. It was going to essential workers next. I am not essential.
-
It sounds like the actual vaccination process is very well coordinated everywhere. I'm glad so many people I know are getting vaccinated.
-
Good morning. Feeling weird today, I hope it will pass. Other than that, it's business as usual.
-
Glad for your report and the good news, DR elmore3003.
-
Good news from DR ELMORE.
Getting signed up vibes for DR LAURA.
Feel better vibes for DR MATTHEW.
-
Tuesday afternoon greetings! My six-month dental check-up was just rescheduled from March 16 to 3:20 this afternoon, which is fine with me.
Oh, God, that town becomes White Trash Central more and more every day.
Just to be clear, Middletown is not my hometown; it's just where I've happened to live for the past 47 years...
Anyway, yes, this is a grizzly story that I'm sorry made it all the way to the Washington Post.
DR Ginny, White Trash is never a term I would use to describe the few Middletown friends I have left, but my hometown has certainly degenerated from what it was in its 1960s hey day.
-
Speaking of white trash, I find it depressing that this QAnon ass was able to find enough people even more stupid and ignorant to vote for her!
-
Thanks for the correction, Ginny. It was my hometown for 11 months.
I love that!! :D
I got an appointment. Two weeks from now, 26 miles away, in the middle of the night.
-
There is a site 2 miles away, but they had no appointments available.
-
That woman ran unopposed in the election.
-
I'm up, I'm up. I went out like a light at two in the morning and woke at eleven and then slept another hour, so ten hours of sleep.
Thank you for the vibes George. I slept almost eight hours. It was heavenly. If only I could do that every night.
YAY!
26 miles!
Where the heck do you have to go? Seriously in the middle of the night or just for someone that gets up very early and goes to bed early ;D
-
There is a site 2 miles away, but they had no appointments available.
Keep trying for something better. You might get lucky.
-
We know a few people who drove about 45 minutes to get vaccinated.
-
Going for a vaccination in the middle of the night --
Sounds sneaky! Like going out to pick up the seed pods to put under the beds of your unsuspecting family members...
-
Back from picking up some packages.
-
Have ordered food - Hugo's pasta papa, and took two I Be Profane tablets.
-
Later, I'll take an allergy pill.
-
I love her old hits...
-
Food should have been here ten minutes ago. Not holding out hope it will actually be hot. Doesn't happen often but sometimes these drivers just don't care or they make other stops or whatever, which should never be the case.
-
Glad to hear you slept, DR Jane. I am sure you needed it.
-
And bk, too.
-
Won’t you come home, Bill Barley ...
These "National Anthem" videos are proliferating, and they're slaying me. So funny.
The advantage of living on the sunny side of the street.
A Cabaret reference at the end that is perfectly apt.
Yes. Have we heard from the singer?
-
My last 30-minute meeting of the day went 40 minutes over schedule and covered the same ground as the last five meetings.
-
I’m going for a walk.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Glad to hear of vaccination progress.
-
I, too, like the cover and title of The New Book.
-
There was a local election that I wanted to vote in, so today I took my ballot over to the Vote Center, then picked up some food. I also had laundry and a few other things to take care of.
-
Glad to hear you slept, DR Jane. I am sure you needed it.
Thank you and boy did I need it. Of course I still need a month more of nights like that ;)
Good idea.
On Sunday I had called in a food order, then went out to my car a few minutes later to drive to the restaurant. My car wouldn't start. sigh. I called the restaurant to tell them what was happening, then placed the same order with Grubhub. Yesterday morning I called for a tow, but the driver was able to get the car started. I lucked out and just needed a new battery, the cheapest and easiest of the possibilities. I now have my wheels back.
-
Continued good sleep vibes for Jane.
TTFN.
I spent 45 minutes trying to get that one. All the appointments were filled within an hour.
-
At the beginning of the vaccinations in late December/early January, nurses were having to drive to Show Low for their shots. That's four hours away. About three of those hours in snow country.
-
Good news, Jeanne, on your car.
-
Has anyone read Shuggie Bain? It won the Man Booker this year.
In other states I occasionally hear of new options opening and people finding better options. At least you have an appointment.
The Man Booker award is never a temptation for me. I have read too many of those that I simply did not care for ;D
I read the blurb on Shuggie Bain with mixed thoughts. Then I began reading the sample on Amazon. Have you read the sample?
-
I'm about 2/3 of the way through Shuggie. It's a hard book to read. The mother's alcoholism is difficult to deal with. And the torment that young Shuggie faces from the other kids brings its own challenges. In a way, it's like a Thatcher-induced Dickensian novel, with more than its share of grotesques popping up all over the place. .
-
Except for Wolf Hall, the recent Man Booker winners are more my taste usually than, say, the Pulitzer Prize winner.
-
The I Be Profane worked pretty well in relieving my too much sleep headache and even a bit of the arm pain.
-
Thinking about going to Gelson's for a muffin or some sweet for later.
-
Hugo's forgot the cheese that goes with pasta papa - I ALWAYS put it in the instructions to NOT FORGET THE CHEESE, and they forget more often than not. So, I complained to the delivery service and got a seven dollar credit.
As a child I dealt enough with my mother's alcoholism, without the financial repercussions thank goodness. I think I will pass.
I can understand that.
-
In a surprising development, I kind of liked the Berg opera, Wozzeck. Who knew? Will do Lulu later, as in I'll listen to it later.
-
Zoom rehearsal in fifty minutes.
-
Just watched another episode of Great British Baking Show. It was biscuits tonight (aka cookies for us Americans). I wasn't as thrilled with the food, but I do like the people.
This is the kind of day I've had.
-
And now, I'm off to read.
-
I've always heard people rave about Lulu and Wozzeck, but I've never been brave enough to give them a try.
-
Pretty much.
-
DR John G., I have not heard about anyone hearing from That Woman (the singer).
-
Oh, lookey.. PAGE FIVE!!!!!
-
DR John G., I have not heard about anyone hearing from That Woman (the singer).
One of my co-workers was able to look her up and he said that she's only 19 years old and a student (https://meaww.com/sailor-sabol-teen-mocked-off-key-rendition-of-national-anthem-cpac-reactions-star-spangled-banner). Her name is Sailor Sabol. She's "a 19-year-old freshman at the University of Central Florida and a member of the school's College Republican group, won an opportunity to perform 'The Star-Spangled Banner' at the start of CPAC this weekend."
-
Thanks, George. And the parody videos keep proliferating.
-
Good night, everyone.
-
I'm off too. I need to leave work and go home.
Until later.
-
She needs to do a sailor’s shuffle right off the stage. Maybe stick to Kumbaya.
-
With a choir.
-
Now this is how you get a vaccine. With a song.
I look forward to reading the newest book BK...I like the cover and catchy title
-
Congratulations to Elmore and Bk on receiving their vaccinations
-
Congratulations to Laura in getting an appointment
-
I ended up taking a long hot shower last night then taking some Advil and lying down with a heating pad
-
My back and neck were much better when I woke up
-
Zoom rehearsal was very good - gave some notes and that was that - barely lasted an hour and ten minutes.
-
Listening to Lulu now. Apparently this is the two acts the Berg wrote. But after this recording was made, apparently the widow Berg allowed a third act to be done - that's the standard version now, but I need to read up on how it was completed. But as with Wozzeck, I'm really kind of enjoying Lulu. Berg's musical language isn't all that different from some film composers who toiled in the sixties and seventies. I really thought I'd hate these but I don't at all hate them and I like them.
-
I think the composer I really don't like of that group is Webern.
-
I think the composer I really don't like of that group is Webern.
DEFINITELY the hardest nut to crack.
-
Which recordings of Wozzeck and Lulu are you listening to?
-
He did complete the third act - but the bulk of it needed to be orchestrated, and I believe he even left some pretty good indications of that.
-
I have both in one three-CD package conducted by Karl Bohm. It's a great recording for both. I'm getting the Boulez of the complete version and a video of the Met production of the full version with Migenes. I don't like Boulez, but that seems to be well thought of - with Stratas. But it's great having them both in one 3CD set.
I am glad. Vibes they stay better.
Hello. Empty room again, but enough posts for now.
-
Empty room? We don't need no stinking empty rooms.
-
And of course George is off recording or playing Phase Three or something.
-
Most unseemly.
-
And of course George is off recording or playing Phase Three or something.
I was reading my book, World War Z, which was written by Max Brooks, who is the son of Mel Brooks (yes, THAT Mel Brooks)!
-
Then, I added pictures of the record labels to the CastAlbums.org listing of the vinyl version of the new Broadway cast recording of Once on This Island (https://castalbums.org/recordings/Once-on-This-Island-2017-Broadway-Cast/38068#69653).
I photographed my very own records that just arrived today!
