Well, you've read the notes, the notes were discombobulated, and now it is time for you to post until the discombobulated cows come home.

And the word of the day is: SWEVEN!

Bonnie and Clyde

Have a good day, all!

And the word of the day is: SWEVEN!
Didn't that star Brad Pitt?
-
Good morning, everyone.
-
I am awake after a dream of trying to buy a recording of William Walton's Belshazzar's Feast.
-
Some of the folks in the store were not wearing masks.
-
Good morning, all!
-
The alarm rang ay 5:45, I turned it off, cuddled up with Annabelle, and woke up at 6:30. All three kitties ate their tuna their tuna this morning, so I am exceedingly happy at the moment.
-
Thanks to HHW, I know more than I ever cared to about immersion blenders, and I am happy that DR JohnG had one - almost two! - proposals yesterday.
-
Last night I started watching the 3-part BBC miniseries of Evelyn Waugh's Decline and Fall. After 30 minutes I decided I wasn't in the mood, so I'll try it again tonight.
-
I need a sherpa today to help me with the Big Ladder and too many cartons of Fancy Feast. I need to do some moving and rearranging.
-
Is anyone besides me sick of this Oprah-Prince Harry-Meghan interview nonsense?
-
BK, the Reynaldo Hahn O Mon Bel Inconnu sounds like more fun than Ciboulette. I see the original star of the musical was Arletty of the great Children of Paradise, a film I would love to see again.
-
There's work being done on our building today, and we've been warned our power may cut off. Ugh.
-
Good morning, all.

Love Children. Watched it about a year ago.

Paying as little attention as possible. The headlines won’t let me escape.
-
Thanks, Tom. I’m most beholden, as Katharine Hepburn once said.

Eye exam vibes for DR JANE.

Mommie Dearest
We saw her onstage in MASTER CLASS and she was really quite good.....for some reason I thought she would be much taller. And of course the ENTIRE audience was held in the lobby until curtain time 8 p.m. We were then allowed in to sit down, and the show was delayed until 8:45 p.m.
One of the ushers told me that Miss Dunaway had fired her hairdresser in Cincinnati and forgot she didn't have one until she got to the theatre that night.....CHAOS!
On the news the next day she said the delay was because they were getting the spotlights right....but the curtain was open when we came in.....and I never saw a spotlight turned on on the stage...

Good morning, all.

Monday.

Good morning to all. I hope everyone has a great week. Stay safe and healthy.

Yesterday evening I ate a Marie Callender's beef pot pie. I've always loved chicken and turkey pot pies from many sources, but I hadn't had a beef one since I was a kid and my parents were buying Swanson's TV dinners and pot pies.
I loved it, and more of its kind shall follow.
-
I'd been in a pot pie kind of mood of late.
In my first years of shopping at Trader Joe's in the early 1980s, they had a turkey pot pie in a whole wheat crust that I had fairly regularly. I think that's the only time I've had anything but a standard crust. I don't think that one's around any more, but maybe I should try something else of theirs again. I don't get to TJ's as often as I should.

I’ve been wanting to make my own pot pie recently. You may have inspired me, ChasSmith.

Does it call for using an immersion blender? :)
-
The Marie Callander Cheesy Bacon Chicken Pot Pie is my favorite.
-
That Chewy.com order they were replacing arrived around 9:30 this morning, so I went down this morning to pick it up. I decided to unpack it in the lobby and then take the large carton to hte basement. As I was unpacking it, the workmen entered the building and told me they would give me 10 minutes to get the elevator to three before theuy cut the power. I asked them if they would mind dropping the empty carton in the basement, and they kindly did. I rode up to three, then I turned off the computer, and waited for the power to go off. Well, the power in the hall was off for about an hour, but the power in the apartment never went out.

Monday afternoon greetings! We discovered quite by accident Saturday morning that we had no wi-fi. Richard called Spectrum and they said a technician would be here Sunday morning, so we were off the grid (so to speak) for about 24 hours. I did sneak online a bit using my cellular, but I suspect that costs a fortune. The tech was here for more than an hour yesterday morning, replacing the modem and working on the outside box and wires. Things worked smoothly until evening when Richard had to restart the modem and the router to remedy a minor hiccup. So far, so good today...
-
Welcome back to Earth, DR Ginny!

That’s a recipe for a culinary slasher flick. BTW, has their been a horror flick with some lunatic wielding a jacked-up immersion blender? On an extension cord?
-
Welcome back, Ginny. Did you bring your immersion blender with you?
-
I wonder if the immersion blender can serve as a reasonable substitute, in a pinch, for Dr. Who's sonic screwdriver.
-
Welcome back to Earth, DR Ginny!
Thanks, DR ChasSmith! We didn't get a newspaper on Saturday, either, so we were really disconnected.
-
I like Faye Dunaway. In addition to the movies mentioned, I would add:
Barfly
The Eyes of Laura Mars (bad movie, good performance)
Three Days of the Condor
Don Juan de Marco

Welcome back, Ginny. Did you bring your immersion blender with you?
Thanks, DR John G! No immersion blender here - do I need one?

Good Morning - My day started out with such a rush…. 2 in-person classes in a row - 1 with kids I haven’t been in real class with since last year. Classes from 4-8 or half full with the other half on Zoom. In the afternoon, they switch. So, it's basically an entire school day. Not like, got to school for 3 hours and then have a few classes here and there when you're home. We had kids not showing up to classes and such, now they have to be on Zoom for the entire 3 hours. We'll see if it works.

I just heard chewy.com got bought by Petco. I hope that doesn't change too much for you!!

I have been thinking all morning about Richard Rodney Bennett's wonderful opera about the 18th century plague, a ghostly acting troupe, and murder, The Mines of Sulphur. I highly recommend it.

Ditto!!

My new leather jacket arrived from India today. The zipper opens on the right side, not the left, and I am not happy about that.

but math is importanter.

Did you order a "ladies" jacket? I got a hoodie with a logo for Marvel's Black Widow a few years ago and it had that kind of a zipper. I knew that it was supposed to be a "ladies" hoodie, but I got it because it was so cheap.
-
I'm up, I'm up - over ten hours of sleep and that's quite enough of that - eight hours will be fine.
-
I didn't know about the Bennett opera - it's never come up in a search. Will have to get it.
-
Eye exam vibes for DR JANE.
Thank you. My 2 hour appointment is done and we have gone for a walk which made me feel better. I won't be staying at the computer long.
-
I was not able to order new glasses. She is having the staff look for something that might be a better fit, and provide better vision. I had wanted to keep my current frame, though her problem with it might explain a few things.
She cannot actually improve my vision. She is reducing the strength which hopefully will reduce my eye strain & fatigue.
-
For my more serious issue I really need to stop using my tablet at night.
-
Oh, I am sorry, DR Jane. That is my favorite reading time.
-
At least today there was definitive guidance from the CDC that you will now be able to cuddle your grandchild.
-
Every miner in the mines of sulfur is issued a standard-grade immersion blender as part of their base equipment.

3hree!!!

Many people don't know that the first draft of "The Exterminating Angel" was, in fact, entitled "The Discombobulated Angel."
-
Oh, I am sorry, DR Jane. That is my favorite reading time.
Mine too. I go bonkers just lying in bed not sleeping all night.

Yes :)

I have been asking all of my medical offices, out of concern for them, if they were vaccinated. By the time I booked at the eye doctor I just assumed they had been and never thought to ask for my own protection. Well, we know about assuming. My optometrist office apparently chose not to get vaccinated. The reason I had stopped going for my every two month eye inflammation checks is that I did not like her touching my eyes during covid.
-
Now I will be nervous for a couple of weeks even though I should be more relaxed.
-

;D I found mine in the first drawer that I looked in.

Well, this is going to be one of those weeks that puts the f-u in fun.
-
1/3 of the staff is off for spring break and other such fun things, while 1/3 more workload than usual has come in. And there are good, loyal customers who need us, but they'll do without us if we can't help them. And I don't want that.

Vibes you can take care of your loyal customers.
-
DR John G., may you put the C-U in your customers this week!
-
Well, this is going to be one of those weeks that puts the f-u in fun.
Yikes! :-\
-
I can handle it. But I think the folks around me are going to be exhausted by the end of the week, and not in a good way.

Why does a Dr - whatever sort of Dr they are - choose not to get vaccinated?? Unbelievable
-
I know. didn't ask.
I am still mad at myself for not checking ahead of time that she was vaccinated. I won't make that mistake again.

When should I arrive for dinner?

Where is everyone tonight? Off enjoying Monday?

I watched a documentary on Watergate and the movie All the President's Men that Robert Redford narrated. It was made during the Obama administration. Very strange. Watching Ben Stein cry and call Nixon a saint was bizarre. And at the end, several of the talking heads talk about how Watergate was nothing compared with what was to come. How prescient they were.

On to the ridiculous, another episode of Josie and the Pussycats.

I've made it through the interviews with Sondheim and Weidman, but now Jerry Zaks is failing at Zoom.
-
I hope I can watch the rest of this tomorrow, because it's 2.5 hours.
-
All the problems of zoom.
-
Won't keep us from page 4.
-
For too long, at least.

onward

Four!

I'm not going to sleep early.

Paul Gemignani and Michael Starobin have joined the discussion.

"It is always the winter of our discontent."
Great comment from Sondheim.

Good night, all.

Good night.

I’ve got my sle3ping all messed up again

Falling asleep after work and being awAke when I should be sleeping
-
I taped the Oprah program last night, because I didn’t want to miss AMERICAN
IDIOT IDOL.
-
I haven’t really followed any if the Harry Meghan stuff
-
Terribly rich and privileged people complaining because everyone isn’t nice to them all the time doesn’t interest me
-
It’s nearly 2 am so I @m goin* 5o try and go back to sleep
-
So I can wZke yo when I’m supposed to
-
I watched it today.
-
Apparently my fingers have already gone to soeep
-
I found it very interesting.
-
I watched it today.
I watched it today.
What did you 5h8nk?
-
Think
-
I am sure that Megan is probably a diva,, and I don’t doubt that she can be a bitch, but I found her interview with Oprah very interesting and at times quite moving.
-
I don’t doubt that someone involved with the Royal Family actually talked to Harry about the Royals were worried about what color Archie was going to be.
-
Also, to remove all of the protection and security from Prince Harry, sounds like the type of petty thing the Family would do to spite him from stepping away.
-
There were so many things that both Megan AND Harry said during the interview that rang true.
-
I enjoyed the interview and I am glad I watched it.
-
But then, I also enjoyed AMERICAN IDOL last night.
-
That show is much more enjoyable with Simon gone from the show.
-
I had my farewell appointment with my regular doctor.
-
He has been my doctor for 28 years.
-
And the youngin decided it was now time for him to retire.
-
He is 68, after all.
-
He thought he was going to get away with a farewell handshake, and a It has been a pleasure knowing you; but I stopped him.
-
I taped the Oprah program last night, because I didn’t want to miss AMERICAN IDIOT IDOL.
How was the interview? I totally forgot about it. :-\
-
I told him that he had saved my life, and that I would always be grateful.
-
He tried to brush it off, but I wouldn’t let him diminish it.
-
I found it very interesting.

Darn. Sorry I missed it. I wonder if it's available on On Demand or YouTube.
-
I knew, when he forced me to go into treatment, that there was something more that he wasn’t telling me.
-
I told him that he had saved my life, and that I would always be grateful.
Wow.
-
Today he told me. His mother had died from alcoholism.
-
He tried to brush it off, but I wouldn’t let him diminish it.
Good for you!
-
Today he told me. His mother had died from alcoholism.
Oh, my!
-
He is a very nice man, and I will miss having him as my doctor.
-
He is a very nice man, and I will miss having him as my doctor.
No longer seeing someone who's been in your life for that long certainly can be a sad occasion.
-
It was kind of a lot for a good Christian heterosexual doctor to have to deal with a depressed gay alcoholic actor like me.
-
But I gave him everyone one of his gray hairs.
-
Project two stuff went fine, then Marshall Harvey and I went to the Smokehouse for food, and that was grand. Then I came home and have been doing tech stuff ever since.
-
Not to mention the ski chalet he was able to have built with all the money he earned off of me.
-
Not to mention the ski chalet he was able to have built with all the money he earned off of me.
How magnanimous of you! ;)

Why I oughta...
-
I gotta tell you.

And then I wrote...
