Well, you've read the notes, the notes were scrambled and filled with eggs, and now it is time for you to post until the scrambled cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: BETTERMENT!
-
~~~Vibes for Reassuring News for BK!!~~~
-
Love the Blu-ray wrap!
-
I'm really excited to finally have the Outside the Box series on Blu-ray! Even on DVD would've been great, but Blu-ray is great!
-
And now, it's time for bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Big HUGS to {{{DR TCB}}} and to {{{DR Laura}}}. These anniversaries are always hard.
-
Thanks for that video link, DR George.
-
~~~MOST EXCELLENT VIBES & XYLOPHONES FOR THE MUCH-NEEDED IMPERATIVE REASSURING NEWS~~~ that bk really needs!!!!!
-
Good morning, all!
-
A horrible night of sleep. My body, between my leg cramps and other ailing - not failing, I hope! - systems were in turmoil and then Stella was particularly frisky and pesky. I was up and down too many times, so I would not be surprised to be napping later today.
-
DR TCB, on this anniversary of Nicky's demise I send hugs and good wishes to you.
-
Today I must make a barber appointment for tomorrow. I really need my hair cut.
-
BK, Balanchine's macabre Death and the Maiden ballet, La Valse, is indeed on DVD!
-
Sorry, DR elmore3003. Glad that you can take a nap, if you need to.
-
:)
-
BK, do you have any ins at Kapp Records? In the 1950s, Kapp recorded the New York City Ballet orchestra in a complete recording of The Nutcracker and Western Symphony/Stars and Stripes, both conducted by the great ballet conductor Robert Irving. I've always wanted them on CD.
Kapp also released several other NYC Ballet orchestra recordings, such as The Firebird and Bizet;s Symphony in C.
-
:)
LOL!

This cute dog is Damu. He was in foster from the New York animal shelter. The day after the sonsabitches posted this video of him in foster on their YouTube channel, they killed him. This senseless killing of adoptable animals is horrifying.

I had a dream that I was having dinner at Steve Sondheim's house. I was helping in the kitchen. He asked me to put the rolls on the table. And I turned to him and said:
I sort of hate to ask it,
But do you have a basket?
-
He was not amused.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Blu-ray looking fine!
-
True!! Forgot to mention that. Can't wait to get my hands on those features and all of those extras.
-
I never knew about those NYC Ballet recordings, DR Elmore!
-
:)
Precisely.
-
True!! Forgot to mention that. Can't wait to get my hands on those features and all of those extras.
I got so caught up in Balanchine and Kapp Records, I forgot to mention how excited I am for Tonight's the Night!.
-
I never knew about those NYC Ballet recordings, DR Elmore!
The Nutcracker foldout was really nice because it was loaded with photos from the original 1954 production designed by Horace Armistead. When City Ballet moved to Lincoln Center, the old sets were too small for the stage, so it was redesigned by Reuben Ter-Arutinian. City Ballet rarely shows photos of that original production.
-
BK, I forgot to mention about Balanchine's Nutcracker, when the Christmas tree grows to a height of 50 feet or so and the set transforms to gigantic height, the effect in the theatre is amazing and no DVD can capture it. When Balanchine gave the budget for the 1954 production to City Center, they fought the price to build the tree. Balanchine told them, the ballet is the Christmas tree.

Maybe there's a book in "Nutcracker" disasters? There are several on stage and opera mishaps, but I've never seen one for ballet.
-
Last night I dreamed that Joshie and I were at a Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park performance of A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM. It was so terrible that it didn't get a single laugh, and I walked out at the end of Act One.
-
Yesterday we gave each other home haircuts, and today I am feeling considerably less shaggy.
-
It's gray and gloomy here today. Eeyore says "hello."
-
Monday.
-
I fix eggs in the microwave now.....stir them up in a bowl....three minutes.....stir them up again.....three more minutes.
-
I can't fry scrambled eggs either.....they turn out flat.......
-
I was flat...
-
Where has the morning gone to?
Haven’t done half the things I want to.
Oh, well
I’ll catch up
Some other time.
In a Comden and Green mood.
-
Monday morning greetings! Sorry to be E & T lately - no good (or bad) reason. Guess I just haven't had much to say.

They could include the socially distanced Nutcracker in masks I saw this past year.

I've made my barber appointment for tomorrow morning and talked to Joshie. And that's my day.

There will be a Downton Abbey movie for Christmas.
-
It says the whole cast will be back. I wonder if that includes Dame Maggie.
-
I am eating an OLD Atkins bar.
(Don't ask.)
-
Has anyone seen Late Nite Catechism?
-
No, but if you hum a few bars....
-
There will be a Downton Abbey movie for Christmas.
Will it be about Maggie Smith's funeral?

Everyone, guess what?
I just cleared some brush!!!

I'm up, I'm up - eight hours of sleep.
-
The ballet records on Kapp - owned by Universal, a nut we haven't been able to crack, sadly.
-
Good afternoon. I participated in a bird count this morning. After the hot temps we had a couple weeks ago, I was afraid it would be terribly hot today. It was quite nice.
-
Reassuring news has arrived and I am reassured.
-
We hiked in to the transect about 3 miles. We started hiking in the dark. I was hoping to see or hear some owls. By the time we got back to the cars, we had walked about 8 miles.
-
I don't know from transects. I just start calling out the birds when they tell me to start.
-
Reassuring news has arrived and I am reassured.
Huzzah!
-
Break out the pantaloons and ham chunks. They are Keto-friendly, you know.
-
At least, the pantaloons are.

DR ChasSmith, DR John G., DR Laura -
In your Spring gardening, did any of you plant one of these?
-
I'd call that a dogbush. I haven't ever had one.

The bathroom ceiling has been quiet and leak-free for the past month. But today, the streak ended. A new soaking. This despite the management replacing the shower/tub in the apartment directly above us. Sigh.

Oh, shit. I am so sorry. When your ceiling falls in for the fourth or fifth time, you'll be in my ballpark!
-
DR George---I saw some of "The Musical of Musicals (The Musical)" last night. The Chicago number is hilarious, with Christine Pedi playing Carol Channing, Elaine Stritch and others.

I trying to determine in advance (i.e., guess) which one was going to lose it next, and I realized it was like what I do when watching car crash videos. Vixmom will understand.

I skimmed through Musical of Musicals - watched the whole opening one and just thought it was one joke stretched to infinity - there's a reason the Outside the Box episodes are five to seven minutes. I also got weary of the testimonials and it's also very strange technically - all about green screen but not done well and the piano is frequently buried so far back it may as well not be there, which means they either sang live to the track or they didn't have time to mix.
-
Vibes for DR singdaw....ugh!
-
Glad to hear that MR BK has been reassured.
-
Thanks, all! Trying to be sanguine about it all.
-
That video was most entertaining DR GEORGE.
Like DR CHAS SMITH I tried to anticipate who was going to fall....but I was rarely correct......
-
We've got folks being stimulated and folks being reassured. Sounds good!

Many moons ago, I was asked to contribute to a book on musicals that were game changers. The one I wanted to do wasn't available (can't remember which it was), so I chose Cabaret. At that time, Peter Filichia was involved. They were very specific in what they wanted and, most importantly, the word count. So, I wrote it, was one word under the word count, and sent it in. Heard nothing for a few months. I finally wrote Peter and he said he'd stepped away from the project. That didn't sound too good to me. And a couple of weeks later they sent me my entry with a bunch of editing notes, suddenly wanting a ton more information. I said that I'd been given a word count and stuck to it. They then told me they loved my writing and the entry, but this book is essentially for novices and said I could go over the word count. I said I'd look at it and do what I was comfortable doing. So, I finally went through it over the past few days - I did a few things that were easy, added a few lines here and there, and told them I didn't want to make it longer than that because I thought it would be super boring. I just sent it in and if they end up adding stuff, which I'm fine with, they'll run it by me. They'll pay me now, however. But it was easy to see why Peter walked away.
-
Intriguing!

I made scrambled eggs for many years before I heard that some people add milk. I did that for a while, but can't say I really noticed any difference. IMO, scramble eggs don't need milk to be tasty.

Well, this is really cool! I was perusing the Tube of You and found myself at The Kennedy Center (https://www.youtube.com/c/kennedycenter/featured)'s channel, and saw their "Millennium Stage" series (I came across one title then searched "Millennium Stage") and one of the concerts was by BK's close and personal friend, Jason Graae (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hEdVdFh_wdg), with music director/pianist John Boswell! ;D

We said goodbye today and are at an airport hotel for the night.

Today, we readied the school for tomorrow - which is an exciting day - all the students on campus at the same time. Thanks to the new county regulations of 3 feet apart in the classroom. 98% of the school will be back - and close to 99% by May 1. It was like reverse Groundhogs Day today as we put things back in the classrooms and we even had a faculty meeting that wasn't on Zoom. It was a great day.

I have always hated the local ballet company's expanding tree. Tacky. Ugly.

I bought my first plane tickets. I’m headed to Des Moines to see friends in September. Used a paltry few miles for a round trip ticket.
-
The Nutcracker montage reminded me of when Rebecca and I went to see Cincinnati Ballet’s production in the 1970s. We had cheap seats in the balcony that were so far to the side that we could see the face of the conductor, DR Elmore’s friend Carmon Deleone. In the pre-show announcements, the PA guy said, “...today’s performance of The Nutcrasher...” and Carmon lost it - doubled over in hysterics.
-
I’m not finding the first part of The Musical of Musicals terribly entertaining. I did like seeing Tom Jones, Charles Strouse, Maury Yeston, Cryer and Ford, and a few others, but the intro went on way too long. In short, I agree with BK. And I think Hartley and he have ruined these other productions because the sound quality here sucks.

I remember in 2002 when the Sondheim Celebration was going on, I was able to capture some of the solo concerts that some of the performers had done in between the shows. I still have them on my computer.

Judy Kuhn and John Barrowman are who I can think of right now, as well as a couple of interview videos...pretty cool stuff. I looked for those on the Kennedy Center YouTube channel, and on their website, but they're not there anymore. So it's possible that I'm the only person in the world that still has these! ;D

And who knows? Perhaps DR elmore3003 will be mentioned in connection with the show's Pulitzer Prize.
That's exactly what I was thinking!
-
And now, I'm off to home.
Be back later.

I bought my first plane tickets. I’m headed to Des Moines to see friends in September. Used a paltry few miles for a round trip ticket.
I hope you don't have a middle seat. Even better I hope it won't matter by then.
Aisle seats

When I watch stuff like Musical of Musicals, to me a one-joke show of 100-minutes duration I become bored pretty quickly. But this thing was just not well done, although everyone raves about it and those two "directors" are so busy patting themselves on the back for using a green screen, and using it very poorly, that I find nauseating. We took the time to figure out how to do this stuff - it looks to me like they learned a bit from it but not enough. Why Jim Morgan would not come to me is anyone's guess. Unless this was just brought to him, which it may well have been.

Finished with my viewing and with my viewing I'm finished.

Had a small cube steak for the evening repast - very good - some sautéed onions with it. So, today is a day without any carbs at all. 8 oz. of halibut is 250 calories and the pounded steak was also around that. Add the butter I used for both dishes and maybe I've had 700 calories for the day, and I ate about 100 calories of Keto friendly nuts.

I had a dream that I was having dinner at Steve Sondheim's house. I was helping in the kitchen. He asked me to put the rolls on the table. And I turned to him and said:
I sort of hate to ask it,
But do you have a basket?
LMAO!

I made scrambled eggs for many years before I heard that some people add milk. I did that for a while, but can't say I really noticed any difference. IMO, scramble eggs don't need milk to be tasty.
I grew up using milk and stopped. While not as fluffy I like the stronger egg flavor.
I prefer chocolate milk!

I made a very nice shrimp salad for dinner. Light and just what I wanted.
Are you sure that salad is what the shrimp wanted for dinner.

What happened to Seattle?
