Well, you've read the notes, the notes were weird and had a bit of good news, and now it is time for you to post until the weird cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: EBULLIENT!
-
A Very Happy Birthday to DR Laura's DD, DR Sandra!! ;D
-
I'm off to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, friends.
-
So bk's tri-salad turned out to be more of a bi-salad.
-
Deep thought for today:
-
Glad for bk's bit of good news.
-
~~~HEALING VIBES~~~ for DR vixmom!!!!
-
Also, sorry to hear about your fraud experience. What a pain!
-
bk, this link popped up in my feed. It's a Keto version of Wendy's Chocolate Frosty:
Wendy's Keto Chocolate Frosty | Exclusive Hip2Keto Dessert Recipe (https://hip2keto.com/recipes/wendys-chocolate-frosty/)
-
Tuna salad. What is it, fish?
-
Good morning, all!
-
I had a pretty good night of sleep. It was very chilly so I was bundled up with three kitties who actually behaved most of the night.
-
DR George, I think Mr Russell's artwork is very good for what he's illustrating, but like the artwork recommended by two other friends, he's not the illustrator for my cat tales.
-
Tuesday was Jonathan Tunick's birthday, so I sent him an email. I received a nice reply containing two pieces of music he's been composing during his pandemic sabbatical in Connecticut. One is a choral piece for chorus, piano, and cello solo; the other is a song setting of a poem by Sara Teasdale.
-
Good post-op news, DR Jeanne! I'm very happy for you.
-
DR vixmom, what the hell is going on with you and the NYS Dept. of Labor? I'm so sorry you're caught up in this mess.
-
I knew Peter MacNicol in the early 1980s. We used to run into each other in midtown after he was in the Broadway cast of Crimes of the Heart. He was friendly - I can't remember now if he was the Bernard Herrmann fan or if that was another acquaintance - but he always reminded me of a deer in the headlights. Then one day he left NYC for Hollywood and I've never seen him since.
Maybe not at Subway.
Wishes everyone has a great day.
I have enjoyed him in many things from Sophie’s Choice to Ally MacBeal. I liked Dragonslayer in the theater. It was loud and fun. It lost most of its charm on DVD a few decades later.
That song of Sara Tisdale’s poem was on Broadway Records’ collection of work done during and about the pandemic. It was one of my two favorites.
Maybe not at Subway.
;D
-
We'll always have
Paris Subway.
-
Never on a Subway.
-
I Left My Heart in Subway.
-
OK, I think that's enough of that.
-
TWO!!
-
And of course, new meaning to:
Don’t sleep in the Subway, Darling.
-
For Kurt Weill fans:
Subway-baya Johnny.
-
For West Side Story fans:
Subway’s a place for us.
-
Where there's a sub, there's a way.
-
How much does a sub weigh?
-
If Hello, Dolly! were set just a few years later...
"You go your subway; I'll go mine."
-
Subway over the rainbow.
-
Subway, Top Hat, and Tails
-
You go Subway, I'll go mine.
-
Anyway - I wonder what the Tooth Fairy gave DR VIXMOM for her two choppers?
I wonder how smart that Unemployment Thief feels having his crime blasted out on HHW - the most popular site on all of the internet?
-
Good news DR JEANNE. Continued vibes.
-
Happy Birthday and Underpants to former DR SANDRA.
-
Well the rehearsal went very well....we all wore sweaters and coats. We did scenes 7,8, & 9 - the end of Act One.
It was a bit ragged, but it was fun. And of course it was nice to see everyone - and meet the new folks who are making their PCPH debuts in this show. Only one person was absent.
My next rehearsal is Tuesday - an Act One run through.
-
I took some photos so perhaps I shall post one a bit later.
-
TOD:
The Mysterious Island
Jason and the Argonauts
Earth vs. The Flying Saucers
Forbidden Planet
Attack of the 50 Foot Woman
-
Glad all went well last night, DR Jrand70.
-
Happy happy birthday, DR Sandra!
-
And, of course, there's Sir Andrew Lloyd-Webber's big hit, Tell Me On a Subway.
-
Subway, Bloody Subway.
-
Mouth healing vibes for Dr Vixmom. Vixdad is a sweetheart.
-
OMG Vixmom. I hope the fraud issue is solved and doesn't hurt your credit rating.
-
I took some photos so perhaps I shall post one a bit later.
Glad the rehearsal went well. And yes, please, on photos.
-
Thanks DR TCB.
-
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DR SANDRA!
🎂🎁🎈🐈💐
-
Good morning, all.
-
I had an okay but obviously too brief three hours sleep from 3 to 6 a.m., following a late night second wind and insomnia that lasted up to that point. My usual drowsy-making tricks all failed me (reading, listening to a movie on TV or the classical FM station at very low volume, etc.). And when I finally was asleep, what was my reward? An annoying dream that included a scene in which I was already awake after having had too little sleep.
-
I hate dreams like that.
-
Very sorry to hear that, DR ChasSmith.
Have you tried subway puns? 8)
Thursday morning greetings! We have survived the April snowstorm, which was very weird.
-
I have been to Art's Deli, but we're talking many years ago and I don't even remember thinking about the prices back then. So I got on their website this morning and browsed the menu items a little bit, and BK ain't kidding. What they're charging for yer typical deli sandwich is shocking, but you know what else struck me? The photos of the food. With maybe a couple of exceptions, nothing looked special enough to warrant that level of pricing, and the photos themselves are fairly pedestrian. Everything struck me as kind of ordinary.
If the Carnegie Deli were still with us, the prices would for sure be right up there. But the servings would be humongous and I always loved their food, especially the pastrami. It was always just totally worth it. At the dearly departed Artie's on upper Broadway, you never had that kind of sticker shock, their food was always delicious, and you could sit there and talk forever.
I'm guessing that Art's thrives by having a very established clientele who won't budge until they're carried out feet first, and plenty of movie studio expense accounts.
Today I'll be having a late lunch - inside a restaurant - with a longtime friend who is passing through on her way from her winter home on the Gulf Coast to her summer home in Michigan. I haven't seen Anne for almost 3 years and haven't eaten inside a restaurant since early March 2020.
-
Thursday morning greetings! We have survived the April snowstorm, which was very weird.
I hate those late season things. It seems like last April was slow to let go of the little snowfalls, and we've had other years like that. The big one that I remember was the April 1st blizzard of '97. In my memory it dumped something like six or eight inches on us. I know I couldn't get out of the driveway to go to work that day.
-
My last restaurant was March 12th last year. No idea yet what my first one in 2021 is going to be.
-
Remember that day, years ago now, when we all donned wax lips and a fez?
Yeah. Good times.
-
We were all so fetching.
-
My last restaurant was March 12th last year. No idea yet what my first one in 2021 is going to be.
March 12, 2020, was our last time inside Kroger. Today, Anne and I are meeting at Panera for a late lunch, so I hope it's not very crowded.
-
I moved from upstate New York when it snowed in June. No.
Ha!
DR John G, I just finished reading the Ethan Hawke book. He spoke at the virtual ALA Midwinter conference, which is what prompted me to read it. I liked his speech more than his book.
-
Has anyone here ever sampled one of Mr. Yap's d i g i m i x remasterings? Do they really sound any different?
I’m listening to him read it. It’s a good performance of a fairly unlikable character. When he’s strung out on coke, he’s revved up, reading fast, etc., so it’s more than a reading. It’s making things slightly more palatable. But I doubt I’ll remember much, say, in a week or two.
-
I’ll pass.
-
The writer of the new Philip Roth bio was getting raves. Now, he’s been revealed to be a real nasty creep. But I still sorta want to read it. Because of who it’s about, not because of who wrote it.
-
Subway's Complaint.
-
thanks DR singdaw. Since I was the one behind the camera, there are no photos of King Louis....but I will find a nice one to post.
-
Here we see the title character and some others.
ROTFLMAO!
Has anyone here ever sampled one of Mr. Yap's d i g i m i x remasterings? Do they really sound any different?
No. Life is too short. If I already have one of his recordings, there's no way I'm falling for this new this new con.
How is his La Mancha? I've never heard it.
I "ass"umed that's what y'all were referring to, since I got the email about it this morning.
Has he ever clearly stated what is meant by "digimix"? I looked for a definition once and I don't believe I found anything satisfactory.
Maybe it means he did it with his own fingers.
I was thinking about gasoline commercials that used to be on a LOT.
I remember putting a tiger in your tank.....and Platformate that sent your gas mileage soaring past the other cars.....stopped in their tracks....
Thursday morning greetings! We have survived the April snowstorm, which was very weird.
I don't remember the latest date we experienced snow. Because it was memorable, I recall Bryan making an Easter Bunny snowman in April. I looked it up. Easter was April 19th that year.
Ron Raines is a great singer but not the best actor. He needed a good director. Cervantes is flirting with those prisoners so they will like him and there's humor in the role. Raines is humorless.
Got a question:
I'm sorting through some CDs and I have this BK one called Rare Tracks that DR George was kind enough to make for me. What I don't remember is which book it went with. I got here after all of these had come and gone, so that's the only one I have.
If I recall the conversation correctly when BK was looking for this one, there had been a few others as well. Which books had them, and who's got them now? (Maybe the answer is always: DR George.) :) Because I'd love to get the rest sometime.
-
I "ass"umed
Well THERE'S a page dance for you!!!!
(Maybe the answer is always: DR George.)
I invariably find this to be the case.
Deep thought for today:
How did I miss this post this morning?? What a wonderful thing to do!
I received three packages from Chewy.com via Fed Ex today. One weighed about 3 lbs., one weighted 6 lbs., and one weighed 40 lbs. The jerk Fed Ex delivery person didn't bring them into the building where other packages are left. He left them in the vestibule, just the front door, where things can be easily stolen so he didn't have to deal with five steps to the lobby. So, I had to painfully get down the steps, and open the inside door to the vestibule and crawl on the floor to separate my packages from the others he dumped there. Then, to add insult insult to injury, my neighbor Mark who was going out, held the door for me and watched me wrestle with the packages, drag myself to my feet, and didn't do one damned thing to help me with the stairs.
The 40 lb. carton sits at the bottom of the stairs now, and I have filed a complaint with Fed Ex.
I've gotten a couple. I haven't listened to my original CDs in years (they're in boxes somewhere in my house and/or garage) but the new discs did sound good. You probably don't need to get any unless you never got the original releases or are REALLY picky about the sound of recordings. I'm not that picky. ::)
;D
Nice! Ahh...to be in a theater again.
The Washington Center has scheduled five different performing activities next month (the first one since last year was just last week...and I didn't get selected to usher :P ), and I've signed up to volunteer. Hopefully, I'll get selected for something.
They also offer this: This new 2 CDs Deluxe DigiMIX release, comes with the complete Synopsis and Lyrics, photos from the production and an essay by Dale Wasserman, all printed in a perfect bound booklet with a slip-case and slim line packaging. A special pre-release order discount of 20% off the regular price is offered between now and the release date.
Has he ever clearly stated what is meant by "digimix"? I looked for a definition once and I don't believe I found anything satisfactory.
According to Jay's website (http://www.jayrecords.com/digimix/):
After years of working on finding a way to Digitally ReMix two tracks Master recordings, JAY and its team of Engineers have pioneered a system to successfully Digitally ReMix from existing two track Master Recordings. This is completely different from the process of just transferring the two track Master Recordings Digitally on to CDs or Downloads. We at JAY are actually ReMixing the voices and the orchestra of those two track Master recordings using our exciting and exclusive DigiMIX system.
-
It's essentially their own proprietary way of remixing their recordings.
I'm up, I'm up - eight hours of sleep.
-
Awfully swell of you, DR George. Thank ye kindly. :-*
Rare Tracks came with There's Mel, There's Woody, and There's You, if I recall correctly. The three Kritzer books all had CDs and so did Writer's Block. That's it, I think.
I had actually gotten these done last year because a few people had said that they wanted copies (I was going to send CDs to people, and BK said that it was okay), but I lost my list then completely forgot about all of it until it was mentioned today. ::)
-
If anyone wants physical copies, I'd be more than happy to make some and send them to people who don't want to deal with MP3 or even WAV files. Let me know...and I won't lose the list this time!
DR JANE I forgot to mention how cute your story about the cat shirt and the video visit was.....awwwwwwwwwwwww....
I hope DR GINNY's lunch went well.
DR GEORGE it was more exciting to be in the theatre working on something than I thought it would be.....it was kind of like coming home after being away a LONG time.....
My last in person show was PICNIC in September of 2019.
Thank you. Bryan finally said to me "Cover your shirt!". Fortunately I had on light weight hoodie that zipped up as it was a little chilly inside.
Zoom in thirty minutes, then food.
-
I have no idea how long this Zoom thing will go.
I hope both DR Vixmom & DR Jeanne are feeling better today.
Mine was earlier than that. And I was supposed to be involved in three, count 'em, THREE productions last year and all three were, of course, cancelled. I don't know if/when things get opened up again if they will be reattempted.
-
Just looked through DR George's download files. What a treasure trove! They're all organized by book, and all include the liner notes. Very grateful.
Zoom mentor thing was fun. Then I ate tuna salad, very good. Now I'm having a green salad with bleu cheese dressing.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Thanks for the vibes.
-
Wow, did Vixmom ever have a bad day!
For Vixmom and anyone else who doesn't know but might be interested, you can subscribe to Lifelock to monitor activity such a new bank account in your name. Discover card offers the same service for a few dollars less. Fortunately, they've never found anything unseemly on my accounts, so I can't say how well they help you once they do.
Vibes for a comfortable mouth pronto!
Hope DR Ginny's lunch went well and she had a nice time.
Happy Birthday to former DR Sandra!
So who is BK's soon-to-be dinner companion from Bluth Bros Theater?
Diane?
Ethelinn?
The blonde girl from Pacific Palisades whose name I can't recall?
(notice all the females)
Don Bluth?
Bill Hunt?
Walter? WALTER!! (Walter Willison) I bet it's Walter!
-
And of course BK just signed off so I must wait in suspense!
-
Glad Jrand's rehearsal went well and that they continue to do so.
I passed your birthday wishes to Sandra. She took the day off work and we had lunch at her favorite sandwich shop that is only open on weekdays (so she can never go). Then we watched the Alice in Wonderland ballet. After I took her home, I stopped at the pharmacy and got a pneumonia shot.
-
I hope any side effects are over by Saturday evening. I have a project that night.
-
:)
-
Glad you had a nice celebration, DR Laura.
-
Good night, friends.
It sounds like Sandra had a very nice birthday.
-
DR Laura is that your first pneumonia shot?
I don't recall having a reaction to it. Maybe we had slightly sore arms. It certainly wasn't memorable.
-
Second. I remember having a very mild response to the first. My DH and a friend both had reactions to the second.
-
Jeanne, Diane Noble now Linder is correct. Was the blonde girl from the Palisades named Mary Lee Gowland? That would be interesting.
Interesting. I hope if you do have a reaction it is very mild.
Yes, Mary Lee Gowland. She always struck me as a Golden Girl, a pretty blonde from an affluent family. Diane sat with Richard and I during your production of Li'l Abner. I remembered her, but she didn't remember me. Have you talked to Walter lately?
-
:)
I saw a Vespa on the street just the other day. I didn't know they were still around. This one looked relatively new.
If anyone is interested, the Stratford Festival's YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_1Ricuv8kk5oUwJn4K4r7Q) is streaming their 2014 production of King Lear featuring Colm Feore (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2OXZhpBRws). :)
I saw that earlier. I hope I can find the time to watch it.
Went to a party tonight during what would have been Fiesta in most any other year. Got to wear my medals from last year, which was fun. It was a fundraiser for a museum that a friend's family has supported for decades. This year, Gail's Fiesta gown from the mid-1970s was chosen as the design for the Fiesta medal. Sadly they didn't have the medals in yet.
-
But they did have chicken on a stick, which is a local treat that is hard to resist. Imagine a chicken cutlet, pounded flat and deep-fried. It's then skewered with a pickled jalapeno on top. You bite into the pepper and the juices drip down on to the chicken. Spectacular. Can't tell you how much I missed this simple treat.
-
And they had corn in cup, a Mexican street food. They shear steaming hot kernels off a cob of corn into a cup and top it with mayo and chile powder. It sounds fairly nasty. It's heaven.
-
Good night, all.
-
Jeanne, not only have I talked to Walter, he'll be doing the May Kritzerland show. We must talk about Mary Lee Gowland, who I've been in touch with on Facebook. I just don't remember her much and am thinking maybe I should? Her father was a famous photographer - did Playboy and other stuff a lot back in the day.
Hello
-
I was feeling miserable after work and took some Advil and had a three hour nap
-
I was feeling much better after the nap and was able to eat my dinner
-
But when I was getting ready for bed I accidentally hit one of the stitched areas with my toothbrush.
-
So that was no fun
-
Elmore, your neighbor Mark sounds like a real winner
-
I feel like driving over there and bringing your box to your apartment
-
Then kicking his ass
There are ways to download YouTube videos. ::)
Just sayin'. ;)
Rare Tracks came with There's Mel, There's Woody, and There's You, if I recall correctly. The three Kritzer books all had CDs and so did Writer's Block. That's it, I think.
Which one had The Bus and Truck CD?
-
Here we see the title character and some others.
