Well, you've read the notes, the notes were very warm for May, and now it is time for you to post until the May cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: REVITALIZE!
-
Good morning
-
So I just was told my boss is retiring
-
Well I’ve known fir a couple of days
-
I hope to be transferring to the residential department so I can stay working here for the next 3 -5 years but nothing is sure....
-
I’m very upset, but not really surprised
-
I mean he’s 75
-
His brother, who runs the residential department is a year younger than me
-
Well I guess I just enjoy this as long as it lasts and hope for the best
-
Good morning, all!
-
I was up at 5:30, the cats were fed by 6:00, and the laundry was in the washers by 6:15. I don't know when the hot water issue was repaired yesterday, but it was back by 3:00 when I fed the cats,

Stella escaped again this morning while I tangled with a huge amazon carton. I went about my business in the apartment, thinking I'd open the door at some point and she would saunter in when she was bored. No such luck.
-
I could hear her screaming from the stairs, so I got the walker, rode the elevator to two, and she was lying at the door to 2C. I picked her up, set her in the shopoping back on my walker, and we rode up the elevator together. She's home and the laundry is washing again with Lysol Laundry Sanitizer.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Thanks for the information, DR Jeanne!
-
Stella had quite an adventure! Glad she is home safely.
-
~~~JOB VIBES~~~ for DR vixmom!!!!!!
-
This very meta sign was shared on FB by a former DR. I can't remember his DR name!
-
Stella had quite an adventure! Glad she is home safely.
Thank God! As my physical condition deteriorates, I worry that one day she'll get out, get lost in the building, and before I can locate her or get someone in the building to help me find her, someone will toss her out on the street or kill her.
-
The laundry is in the dryers, and kitty cleanup is over. One more trip to the basement and I can lie down to rest my legs.
-
Well, anyway,
On the first of May...
-
Good morning, all.
-
Job vibes for Vixmom.
-
It’s kinda like a koan for breakfast.
-
Yes, this morning, I am brimming with fun, wholesome and un.
-
Elmore’s morning with Stella and laundry sounds exhausting.
-
It’s still raining, but the thunderstorms don’t roll in until the afternoon.
-
I must face the world.
-
But first …
-
Two!
-
Hi, Singdaw! Hello, 1 guest!
-
Good morning, all.
-
I had a good Benadryl sleep, and I don’t much care who knows it.
-
Elmore’s morning with Stella and laundry sounds exhausting.
It was. I'm ready for a nap.
-
The laundry is finished, and I've put half of it away.
-
Best of luck for the best things continuing to happen on the job, vixmom.
-
I had a strange dream last night. I was in Pittsburgh and there was a production of What The Butler Saw that got good notices and I wanted to see it. Choreographer Christopher Wheeldon was plating Dr Rance, and the ingenue was played by a serial killer who was killing off the cast. There was also a party before the show and all the served pizza was burned.
-
DR vixmom, they would be fools to lose you.
-
Good morning!
-
Important envelope vibes for MR BK.
-
DR VIXMOM that was a surprise.... Vibes that your plans pan out, as they say.
-
Well.....for the three weeks that my dryer was venting into the house, I probably only used it three times or so.....I was using a kit that I purchased....
The dryer vented into a container that had about a pint of water in it that was to be changed every month or so....but it just didn't seem right.... So now I am doing my laundry and when it goes into the dryer, once again it will be venting outside into the fresh spring air.
-
There was nothing scary about my brother's house - just some disturbances....
So it seems some Native Americans had been ambushed on the property about 400 years ago - and they were just sticking around to see what happened....it was interesting. I did not recognize the tribe name they gave - my brother kept the notes....but it was an interesting story. They just wanted to be acknowledged and noticed.
-
Hi, Singdaw!
Well, hello there, DR John G!
-
That was one strange dream, DR elmore3003.
-
Important envelope vibes for MR BK.
Ditto!
-
DR vixmom, they would be fools to lose you.
Ditto!
-
I have just had an exciting morning clipping my toenails. Exciting because with aformentioned built-in inner tube, it's quite a production.
Cue the can-can music.
-
Very interesting, DR Jrand70.
-
" East of Texas, West of Hell". That title got my attention.
-
DR Jeanne this video explains a ventless dryer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u1FpE9bISwU
-
DR TCB I am relieved for you.
-
So I just was told my boss is retiring
I am so sorry.
-
I mean he’s 75
I didn't realize he was that old, plus this last year has been extra hard on him.
-
I hope to be transferring to the residential department so I can stay working here for the next 3 -5 years but nothing is sure....
Mega vibes it happens. Why is his retirement shutting down your department?
-
I didn't realize there would be a crowd at the house, interesting.
-
From what DR vixmom said over the past few weeks, it doesn't sound like Residential will be a picnic. Still, I do hope that it works out.
-
Cats. And sweet potatoes.
Who could ask for anything more?
-
Always make sure you're not about to peel the wrong one.
-
DR JANE there was only one communicating, but it the group was him and his two brothers......
-
I'm up, I'm up - six hours of sleep.
-
DR Elmore: Thank you for offering to help satisfy my curiosity about Sullivan Street Playhouse.
I flog myself daily for not having seen The Fantasticks there. I saw it at the Jerry Orbach. Did you go there, too?
I've read in the descriptions of Sullivan that people seated in audience right had to literally walk across the stage to get there. Was the piano/harp setup on the audience left side?
Apparently the original piano was built into the stage set and even jumped or sat on at some point (?). The one at the Orbach was not. It was draped somewhat, and looked like a small upright, taller than a spinet. It was on audience right, not behind the set but at the back wall, though hopefully the pianist wasn't cramped like Julian Stein describes it in the Farber book. The harpist was to his left, practically in the aisle at audience right, but there was breathing room. When they did the fake exit (“the orchestra can go home”), both players started up that aisle. (Was that gag done at Sullivan? There's no reference to it in the script. If not, I wonder when it got added.)
None of this is related to the one I’ll be playing, which will be small but not on that kind of stage. I’m just really curious to envision the original, and I envy your experience in seeing it repeatedly. Anything you wish to relate about it, I'm all ears.
-
BK, too: Did you go there during your NYC years?
-
Yes, saw the show twice at Sullivan Street. My memory is the piano was in back of the "set". And you did have to sort of walk on the stage to get to certain seats. I saw it once at the Orbach, too.
-
Waiting from someone to pick up a couple of CDs and then I'll mosey on over to the new storage place.
-
Always make sure you're not about to peel the wrong one.
;D
-
DR JANE there was only one communicating, but it the group was him and his two brothers......
Not too big then though still interesting.
-
That was one strange dream, DR elmore3003.
Indeed
-
Always make sure you're not about to peel the wrong one.
Ha!
-
The rain is quite epic right now. I'm glad I got my errands done in time.
-
It really started coming down as I was unloading the car, so there are still a few items that didn't make it inside.
-
My splurge purchase at Costco was a set of large windchimes that have some very low notes. I had been looking for a set that went really low, but those start at about $400 and go way, way up in price. These are not quite as large, but it was only $60. I can afford that at the moment.
-
The H-E-B supermarket I went to had some Talavera birdbaths, but I didn't like the look of any of them. So, I bought two more Talavera pots instead. One was at a really good price for the size.
-
Now I've got lunch warming on the stove. Tuscan bean soup for a really bleak afternoon.
-
The flash flood warnings are in effect. The thunder is rolling around out there. And I'm drying off inside.
-
Here's a kickstarter campaign of another musical raising money for a DVD/CD. I can't say I'm thrilled with the song in the trailer.
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/melatkey/perfect-timing?ref=creator_nav
And the perks aren't all that perky.
-
When they did the fake exit (“the orchestra can go home”), both players started up that aisle. (Was that gag done at Sullivan? There's no reference to it in the script. If not, I wonder when it got added.)
That never happened at the Sullivan Street any time I saw it between 1988 and closing.
-
the perks aren't all that perky
That would make a great title for something or other.
-
~~~VIBES FOR NO SLIP SLIDING AWAY~~~ for DR John G.
-
I love The Fantasticks!
I got to play Mortimer because the first Mortimer quit - or something - when we did it at PCPH.....so I was most excited.
-
One of the fathers liked to complain about the choreography I did for him and the other father - but their number got the biggest applause every night.
-
Well. Drove all the way out to the new storage and after a five-minute wait in line got to the guy I reserved with. He told me the system was down. I waited forty-five minutes and was then told there was no ETA as to when it would be back up. He suggested I come back before the truck arrives on Monday, so around eleven-thirty, but that makes me nervous because I need to see where the units are, get the gate code and all that jazz. I e-mailed him when I got home and told him to call when the system is back up - I'll probably go back there if it's up by four or so. Really annoying.
-
Car registration and tags arrived today.
-
Picked up the lesser of the important envelopes but not THE important envelope. That, of course, simply makes me nervous. Hopefully on Monday.
-
Ordered a chicken Caesar from Stanley's and am listening to music. The guy who was supposed to pick up CDs this morning was a no-show.
-
How utterly frustrating, bk, about the storage. Sorry.
-
One thing I wondered after reading today's notes is: isn't the Helper's mother really the Helper now? I mean, does the actual Helper even help?
-
We have lost Olympia Dukakis.
A friend of mine who has worked with her said that she taught him this:
Let go of that feeling, Acknowledge it, but then let it go. So that you can have another one.
-
Always liked her.
-
Four!
-
May be time to find my copy of Moonstruck.
-
I'm glad they were able to complete the most recent iteration of Tales of the City with her.
-
Jeez, BK, how terrible! What an inconvenience. I hope you can take care of the situation today. Could you do it tomorrow?
-
~~~VIBES FOR NO SLIP SLIDING AWAY~~~ for DR John G.
;D and
DITTO!
-
May be time to find my copy of Moonstruck.
One of my favorites! I first saw Dukakis at the Williamstown Theatre Festival, 1973, in the title role of Brecht's Good Woman of Sezuan. The late, wonderful actor David Dukes was her romantic interest.
Great quote.
Mega vibes it happens. Why is his retirement shutting down your department?
Because my department is basically just the two of us.
Thank you
DR vixmom, they would be fools to lose you.
Thank you fir the vote of confidence
-
DR VIXMOM that was a surprise.... Vibes that your plans pan out, as they say.
Thank you...
It was kind of predictable but he wasn’t showing any signs that he intended to retire so I was hopeful he planned to keep on keeping on for a few more years. But this year was hard and I suspect his wife is pressuring him to give it up
I hope it works out so you can stay with the company, though I fear it will never be as good. Sending hugs.
Ooh!, I can't wait!
-
Up from a nap. Surveyed some of the wreckage from the rains. One plant seems to be drowning. So, I moved it to the side with another I saved a couple of days ago. The rest seem happy as anything. And the ground has absorbed all of the water.
Yikes! :o What the hell kind of dream is that??
Picked three bright red bell peppers from my plant. They're a little on the smallish side, but they are beautiful.
I just read that. :(
The Britten book looks great. Thanks for the heads up, DR elmore3003.
-
A little recipe for those planning to watch the Kentucky Derby:
-
The guy isn't there tomorrow. And the system is still down. One wonders how a major company can have something like this happen. Since it's only affecting the unit rentals and not the truck rentals, it's truly incomprehensible. And they close at five, so unless I hear before four it won't happen today.
-
:)
-
This is an interesting book, DR elmore3003, although pricey and a bit scarce.
-
Bringing us just a smidge closer
Hello, 1 Guest!
I'm missing the derby
Picked three bright red bell peppers from my plant. They're a little on the smallish side, but they are beautiful.
I am glad overall your garden is doing well. Do you expect more heavy rains?
-
:)
Cute. It reminds me of the bagger Keith had while I was getting my glasses adjusted. He was rather upset she put heavy items on top of his delicate chips. Oh, and she put the non cold stuff in our cold bag and the cold stuff in the flimsy bag ;D
-
Was the bagger also a cat, DR Jane?
-
Hello, everyone.
-
I have several questions for Jrand:
What were the "disturbances" that made your brother think that something was amiss?
How did the ghosts appear? Did they just materialize? Did you call them somehow?
You said that only one spoke. Could your brother hear him?
Does this sort of thing happen often in your family?
Inquiring minds want to know!
Steady employment vibes to Vixmom!
My solution: they promote Vixmom to supervisor of commercial property and hire an assistant for her.
Stay sane vibes to BK and anyone else needing them.
Good afternoon.
My nature loving group went for its first field trip since before the pandemic hit. Our best sighting was a rattlesnake.
Was the bagger also a cat, DR Jane?
LOL, I think a cat would have done a better job.
Who knows? More thunderstorms expected Tuesday.
Tonight’s first course was a salad totally from the garden: Lettuce, purslane, sorrel, parsley, mint, chives, oregano, thyme, bell pepper
Most inadequate and most typical.
-
Listening to Adriana Lecouvrer with Anna Netrebko. I haven’t seen this one before. So far, the music is lovely, the singers are divine, the story is silly. But I am enjoying the backstage scene at the beginning.
-
Brilliant!
DR Vixmom am I correct that you would need a law degree for the position?
TO PAGE SIX!!!!!!
:)
-
Good night, friends.
-
Listened to music, watched a movie, listening to music - don't know if I'll watch another movie or not. For now, the music is nice.
-
Did a Gelson's run - got some Diet Coke and a lot of the Sparkling Ice drinks, which are sadly not five for a dollar anymore, they're $1.50 each - really irritating.
-
But I got some new flavors to try and it is causing me to not doing more than one Diet Coke a day, so that's good.
-
:)
Ouch. Have you been reading what I've been reading lately?
-
Well, the staging of Adriana L. helped quite a bit with the insane plot unraveling in the fourth act. But the singing was superb throughout and so was the music.
-
I'm going to go finish my book now.
-
:)
:D
I’ve been drinking LaCroix. O calories O carbs O caffeine buy it by the case and it’s less than 50 cents a can
-
I’ve been drinking the local grocery chain’s sparkling water, sometimes flavored. $2.99 for a 12-pack.
-
Book finished. Lot of bodies. But a good read. Reminded me in a good way of John D. MacDonald.
-
Good night, all.
-
Watched another movie and back to music.
Everyone goes to bed soooo early on a Saturday evening.
Well, not I.
I not.
Music, music, and more music.
-
Brahms third right now.
-
Aimez vous Brahms?
-
I gotta tell you.
I have refreshed the page and yet I am the only one posting.
Therefore refreshing the page is not very refreshing.
Wherefore art thou, anyone?
-
Wherefore's Art, for that matter.
-
PAGE SEVEN DANCE!!
-
And still.
-
And George has arrived in the nick of time.
-
And he has taken us to page seven.
-
No one can dispute this, although many have tried.
-
I, however, have not disputed it.
-
And I never will.
-
Now, where in tarnation is page eight?
-
Damn them, damn them all to hell.
-
I love Brahns' third symphony because it has my favorite Brahms melody ever - one that's been used in countless motion pictures.
-
I'm watching Wednesday's episode of Late Night with Seth Meyers.
-
Elizabeth Moss was the first guest. I always forget how funny she is in real life.
-
I've only ever seen her in very serious dramatic roles (and she's very good at them), but I'd really like to see her in some kind of comedy that shows her real personality.
-
I like Elizabeth Moss.
-
Haven't seen her in much lately.
-
Now playing,Scheherazade. A wonderful performance, but this is one of those pieces that really does need to luxuriate in stereophonic sound. But oh those Philadelphia strings.
-
Haven't seen her in much lately.
They're starting season four (I think) of The Handmaid's Tale on Hulu, which I don't have.
-
Well I guess I just enjoy this as long as it lasts and hope for the best
Would you feel comfortable sitting down with him and discussing where he sees you going in the company?
I would like to know the answers to these questions, as well.
The PA I saw today was very nice and kind of cute. He carefully counted out exactly how many pills I would need between today and Wednesday. A total of 12 tablets. The people at Rite Aid must of thought that I was being penalized or censored.
-
The PA’s wife (or husband) must be a little insecure. His wedding band was about the same size as a life ring off of the Titanic.
Hi, Tom.
It felt so nice to be able to have three pain pills today.
That's great! It's too bad that you need them, but it's a good thing that you can have them.
