On Saturday, my friend Shelly stopped by (she used to be the property manager of my condo complex) because she got a new phone and didn't have my phone number anymore. We chatted a bit and were thinking that we'd get together on Monday (today) and ketchup on things that've happened over the last couple of years.
-
She used to live here, but her dad wasn't doing well, so she sold her condo and for the last couple of years, she lived with him and took care of him. He died last year, but she recently was able to sell his house (for about $50,000 OVER the asking price!!) and is now renting back here in the condo complex until she decides what she wants to do. So, we'll ketchup today on what's been going on! I don't know what time, though, so I'll get up when I get up, take a shower, get dressed, and then let her know that I'm up. :)
-
Today is Memorial Day (https://www.usmemorialday.org/), so I won't say, "Happy Memorial Day." I can't believe that people actually say that. And all the sales that are advertised for today! What's that all about?? Anything for a buck, I guess. :P
-
And now, I'm off to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
Walter Willison is kicking himself for missing the afterparty. I tried to tell him :)
-
Good morning, all!
-
I apologize for missing last night's show. I wasn't sure that I would get to it because of my current health situation, but around mid-afternoon my gastrointestinal system in a determined effort to my life more miserable flared up, and I spent much of my time after that in the bathroom with three curious cats chatting at me and offering unwanted advice. By 7:00 EST I was in bed.
-
I plan on a very sedate and hopefully quiet day.
-
Good morning to all.
-
BK
Even though there is a screen credit for it, I don’t think the song Emily is actually heard in the film and that’s why it wasn’t nominated. It’s been a while since I’ve seen the film
-
Travel vibes for DR JANE.
-
Good morning!
-
I enjoyed the show last night and went to the party for a bit.
-
Tonight is our final rehearsal for HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME, we open tomorrow night.
-
Sorry I missed the show last night. I was invited to my friends' house for the first time in about 7 months. I didn't get home till about 10 pm.
-
I am watching now and enjoying the show very much.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Show was great, as always, and the after chat was most enjoyable.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Don’t feel like stirring yet.
-
Sorry to hear of DR Elmore's GI distress. Vibes for a recovery today!
-
But I have some yard work I should try to get to before it gets too hot.
-
Or too darn hot.
-
Vibes for Elmore.
-
Where did May go?
-
Where did page one ho?
-
Away.

The YouTube buffering was just bizarre. I don't think I've ever experienced that as badly as last night.
Like I said in the chat, my connection here is really solid 99% of the time, and very fast. Xfinity has raised our speeds several times over the years, and any speed tests I've run have always hit excellent numbers. But when I'm at my desk, which is always the case when watching these shows, I'm also not depending on WiFi speeds. I'm connected directly to the modem/router via ethernet, for best possible speeds. So when I experience glitches like last night, it's for certain that the fault is not here in the house.
Someone said they got rid of it by simply going back half a minute or so. I don't even know how I'd do that on a live stream. Maybe they meant refreshing the page?
-
I thought of doing that, but wondered if that would cause me to be out of sync in the comment section.
Too much wondering. It doesn't matter. All was well, because I figured on any next viewing the conditions would be different and it'll play fine.
-
I just finished watching the show, which was quite wonderful. I thought Robert Yacko's opening was really fine, just a perfect opening to the show. If I could find my program for Wicked, I could see if Lisa Livesay played Galinda when I finally saw it. I liked her, but the lyrics to "Tammy" bother me with their faux-southern/naïve inconsistency, but I love the tune. I thought Lisa did great on both songs, and I really think there's nothing Adrienne, like Kerry, cannot sing.
When BK said that Guy Haines was supposed to sing, I thought, wouldn't it be funny if Walter sang the song since Guy replaced Walter on "Her Laughter in My life" (oy! was that session with Walter endless) but Bruce sang it beautifully.
The whole cast did very well, and I quite enjoyed myself.
-
Where is Daniel Bellusci these days? He hasn't been in the last couple of shows, and I missed his showing up to inject some more humor into the program. I hope he's well.
-
Today might be drier as far as rain is concerned, but the weather's still crappy. I've had my share of bad weather Memorial Day weekends, but this win takes the prize.
It MIGHT be dry enough this afternoon to go out and grill a hot dog and bring it back inside to eat it. I'm serious. It wouldn't be any fun sitting out there for even a short time.
We have run the furnace All Weekend. Usually by this time of year, I'm down to turning it on for, say, twenty minutes in the morning, and maybe again in the evening, to take the chill off...and by Memorial Day, we're even past that stage. Not so this year.
-
I have yet to see Wicked. It was never at the top of my list, or even in the middle, but I guess at some point I should go. But many other priorities are ahead of it.
-
I really loved the Too Darn Hot.
I liked the Yacko opening number, too. Is this the first solo "What If" sequence I've heard? I think BK was saying something about that, and I missed it. I'll hear it later.
-

You've missed nothing. What the book needs is a good spooky mini-series that follows its anti-fascist theme, and not the musical's ridiculous plot.
-
Damn it to HELL, I knew I should have asked during the program since Michele Brourman was there:
Is the sheet music to that song readily available? Or even not so readily? There's sheet music to some of her songs available through her site, but it looks like that isn't one of them.
-
I did about an hour of garden work and am just about done in. I filled the entire green barrel, but I don't know if they'll pick it up because of the holiday.
-
Deanna Durbin is just bubbling over with fake charm in Mad About Music, the first movie of the day.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Looking forward to enjoying the Kritzerland show today. Sorry I couldn't participate last evening.
-
It's just barely past 10am, and already this morning has entailed an early-morning grocery run for fruits and veggies, and a delicious 90-minute on a path alongside the Mississippi River, which is just outside my door. I expected it to be mobbed, but we didn't run into too many other folks. A lot of cute doggies and bicyclists.

Reading a bit about Marc Blitzstein's "choral opera," The Condemned, a telling of the Sacco & Vanzetti story for four choirs and orchestra. Composed in 1932, it has never been published, performed, or recorded. He considered it some of his best work, apparently.

Can you arrange that?

I'll take care of it, DR John G.! :D

We chatted a bit and were thinking that we'd get together on Monday (today) and ketchup on things that've happened over the last couple of years.
I guess it is good we backed out of lunch today. We will be leaving soon and hope the traffic isn't as bad as we feared.
-
DR TCB thanks for the travel vibes.
-
Good morning.

We are going to celebrate Freedom Day today. I'm waiting for my daughter to let me know she's ready.
-
I enjoyed the show last night.
-
Wicked is a lot more fun when you know someone in the cast.
-
I'll take care of it, DR John G.! :D
Thank you. I trust in you.
-
I have the dough for a Blueberry Dutch Baby whipped up. It needs to sit a half-hour or so before I bake it. Recipe looks tasty. Like a big ol' pancake. And who wouldn't want that?
-
I watch PETTICOAT JUNCTION each day because I love Dog.....he's a cutie and very smart. He later became Benji in the movies.
-

The 28th was the first day we were permitted to buy tickets to enter Glacier National Park. Within a second of the tickets going on sale the allotted number for the day were sold out. Each morning Keith was at the computer ready to hit the enter key and today he won the lottery. We now have a ticket to drive into the park!
-
I never expected to get a ticket.
-
That's great, DR Jane.
~~~TRAVEL VIBES~~~ to you.
And... HAPPY ANNIVERSARY.
-
Great news DR JANE!!! It sounds like so much fun.
-
Memorial Day greetings! Richard visited the cemetery this morning while I watched the live stream of a friend’s Bat Mitzvah from Cincinnati. She and I are both retired from Dayton Metro Library.
-
DR Elmore I just
re-enacted the Act 2 opening from Look Homeward, Angel swept the front porch. My intention was to sit out there and read, but the dive-bombing cicadas made me change my mind.
The sun is coming out.
For the first time since...I don't know...last Wednesday or Thursday?
And just as I was about to settle down and begin watching Magnum Force. :)
-
Starting to watch Cuba, a movie I had always wanted to see. Didn't remember that Richard Lester had directed it.
Loving the soundtrack. Wish I had gotten it from Kritzerland before it sold out.
22 miles before Tacoma and we already have slow traffic.
I know that the mini-HHW reunion will be a blast.
~~~FEEL BETTER VIBES~~~ for DR TCB and DR elmore3003.

There has been no noise from upstairs today, and no emails or texts. Either they have hired the first silent installers, or they got the hint. I am sorry, but I will take them to court if I have to do so to prevent the removal of the carpets..
-
And that, as they say, is that!
-
Kind of quiet today.
-
Perhaps everyone is out memorializing.
-
Let us get off this page.
-
Last post of page three.
-
Page four
-
Traffic eased up as we are approaching Tacoma.
-
I know that the mini-HHW reunion will be a blast.
Due to concerns over Memorial Day traffic we postponed it for another day.

We are off the 5 and connecting to 101.
-
I'm up, I'm up - a little over eight hours of sleep.
-
Had lots of e-mails to read, plus got the liner notes for one of the upcoming releases, which were great.
-
A couple of great lines from Dorothy Parker:
"flotsam and leave 'em."
Paul Verlaine "was always chasing Rimbauds."
-
We had a nice stretch of light traffic and lovely views.

I tried just pausing the video and that didn't help, but refreshing the page did (at least, for about 15-20 minutes or so), and that also caused the feed to jump back half a minute. Very strange.

At least the musical's plot isn't as convoluted as the original book's is! ::)

You drove right by me!

I've just been lounging at home, doing not much of anything.
-
I need to do laundry, so I might as well do it.
-
A load of laundry is in the washer.
-
Just had to share.
-
Did more weeding. And am exhausted.
-
But I finished listening to The Portable Dorothy Parker. Amazing writer. Some of the stories were heartbreaking.
-
One more!
-
Five!
-
Starting Pandora and the Flying Dutchman with Ava Gardner and James Mason.
-
So, I have the 71¢ left on the one Red Robin gift card, but I also have two gift cards (that I got from Costco) for another restaurant, Stack571 (https://stack571.com/). I've only been there a couple of times, but I liked the burgers that I got.
-
Anyway, I wanted to find out how much was left on the gift cards, but I couldn't find anywhere online to get that info, so I called the local Stack571. They said that I could come in and they'd scan the cards there, so I shall. I took a shower earlier, and I just need to put my laundry into the dryer, then I'll head to the mall and find out how much I have.

DR TCB in Canada at least in my province they are recommending a certain amount of time between shots. They are saying that I could go as soon as 8 weeks. But that it is more effective to wait 12 weeks. So I'm still not sure what I will do. Also i'm waiting to hear about mixing vaccines to see if I could get Pfizer as my 2nd dose (if that is more effective). My first dose was Astrazeneca.

Ava Gardner was impossibly beautiful. No wonder she played Venus, Pandora and women who drive men to ruin.

I found out that if you win in court, they are required to remove the flooring and reinstall new carpet.

Did you watch it after the "live" streaming? Then, yes, it would be fine. The problem that people had was when we were watching it during the original streaming.

Daniel didn't want to do any more online stuff. He'll be with us in July live.

They probably bought it with the idea of totally tearing down the house and building a new one. I've heard many times that land can be much more valuable than the house that's on it. :-\
-
Yeah, I guess.
-
Go look at the photographs - I'd left one out, but just updated.
-
I can understand the increase in price. My condo is worth $80,000 more than when I bought it two years ago.
