Well, you've read the notes, the notes paid the price, and now it is time for you to post until the paid cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: NOETIC!
-
~~~Big Bill Vibes for BK!!~~~
-
Topic of the Day: Star Wars, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, The Sound of Music, and My Fair Lady.
-
My parents had The Sound of Music and My Fair Lady and my sister and I used to listen to them a lot growing up, but I bought Star Wars and Close Encounters, myself.
-
Off to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all.
-
TOD:
Mary Poppins
Finian’s Rainbow
Hello, Dolly!
The Bandwagon
Evil Under the Sun
-
Good morning, all!
-
I have my lab work this morning for next week;s appointment with my doctor, and I cannot eat until I get home. I hate that.
-
I did not sleep well at all.
-
TOD
Star Wars
Goldfinger
Gypsy
Tom Jones
-
Last night we watched the first episode of Julian Fellowes' Belgravia, his Downton Abbey soap set in the land of Thackeray and Trollope. In Vanity Fair the Duchess of Richmond throws a ball in Brussels the night before the battle at Waterloo, and this is where Belgravia begins, 1815, before the story jumps to 1840. There's not just upstairs-downstairs intrigue, but the clash between the aristocracy and the upwardly mobile nouveau riche. My only problem is that the lead characters don't age in twenty-five years while the Duchess of Richmond certainly did.
I like the cast, so I'll keep watching.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I slept poorly, too. Too many things on the damned brain. Hoping for better tonight.
-
TOD
King of Kings
Goldfinger
Pink Panther
Charade
The Music Man
West Side Story (and then Symphonic Dances)
Mary Poppins
-
I slept poorly, too. Too many things on the damned brain. Hoping for better tonight.
I slept poorly, three.
-
Confession: When I opened the new notes after having just read BK's closing post of last night, my first thought was that he typed the wrong vowel.
(Don't get up. I'll show myself out.)
-
DR JOHN G I also hate AT & T.
I have to deal with Comcast, but it is easier.
-
DR TCB - JOSEPH opens on August 10.
For ten glorious performances.....I expect the entire cast to be onstage at least once before then.....and that might be a futile expectation.
-
Paying the bills vibes for MR BK.
-
I am enjoying reading the lists for the TOD.
I have so many.....but I will start with:
West Side Story
Valley of the Dolls - a really nice Johnny Williams score & some nice songs....
Harlow by Neal Hefti - good music
The Ten Commandments
To Kill a Mockingbird
The Carpetbaggers
Rome Adventure
-
Well, I didn't get to the lab. I stood on the corner of Amsterdam and 82nd Street for 40 minutes and not a single taxi showed up. At 8:50, the time of my appointment, I came home and rescheduled for tomorrow morning. I will go directly from that to my CT scan.
-
Forty minutes?!
-
I did some math this morning before I left for my failed appointment. I checked the amounts of all the Ohio property tax payments Ive made since 2010: $14,912.32, a total of $44,736.96 for the three of us, all because my two foolish brothers did not want to pay a realtor's commission!
Curiously, too, the taxes went up around $1,060 since last year.
-
Forty minutes?!
Yes, alas!
-
Taxes......grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
-
Today is feeling longer than yesterday.
-
VERY strange week.
I'm sitting here multitasking on a few things -- home heating maintenance contract and service call scheduling, auto insurance policy update, planning when I'll go to my friend's Godspell, scheduling other things -- just stuff I've been putting off. If I must admit it (which I'm doing as we speak), getting all of my paperwork in good order on these and other things has been a challenge due to...what shall we call it...COVID LAG?
All of which is to say that from one minute to the next, in juggling it all, I've found myself unsure of exactly what day it is.
-
Onward
-
Two!
-
I received a work email that ended with the word onward yesterday.
-
Where is everyone today?
-
Vixdad is in surgery. That I know and hope all is going well.
-
From George:
Do you mean to say that you haven't read The Martian? Then, yes, you should! Have you seen the movie? The book is better...of course.
I have not read it. I have seen the film though I didn't realize it was from the novel.
-
My niece noticed on Goodreads that I was reading Project Hail Mary and sent me a message that she thought The Martian was better. She did also enjoy Hail Mary.
-
AT&T VIBES FOR DR JOHN.
-
DR TCB, only one typo, beleved
-
From TCB:
That is what I am talking about. Different people are being given different “facts” by different doctors and/or governments. Why should Canada and America be operating under different rules?
New studies and new info plus Canada began with a different vaccination. It is possible we might change how we do it going forward. First we just need healthy people to be willing to get vaccinated.
-
From Tom:
Unfortunately, seeing some person not wearing a mask, does not guarantee they have been vaccinated.
Which is why from the beginning people needed to prove they were vaccinated to go maskless.
-
From DR TCB:
Early to rise,
Late to bed.
After a week,
You will feel like you’re dead.
;D
-
I'm up, I'm up - nine hours of sleep. I've got two hours to get all this guck out of me.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Add me to the list of the sleep-deprived.
-
Greetings, friends.
-
Got some house chores done today... some yard trimming and a load of stuff taken to the transfer station. But by and large, still relaxing time with family.
For lunch, we mass-produced a load of BLTs. And tonight, I believe tuna steaks with a green salad are on deck.
-
Dr Lee, the optometrist, has been very good about following up on my eye situation. But now I'm wondering if I'll be charged for her two phone calls. I spent a considerable amount of time yesterday talking to United Healthcare about how to handle this. They say urgent visits need to go to the ER or Urgent Care, but the optometrist said no, call them. Fine, but without a referral in place it won't be covered. Everyone has a different viewpoint. I've emailed my primary, asking for another referral, but the phone calls won't be covered retroactively.
I spend more time tlalking to the United Healthcare people than I do talking to my doctors.
-
Dr Blacksburg's nurse called, and I now know why i am having a CT scan tomorrow: something of "low suspicion" on my fourth left rib.
-
I'm glad you're able to spend time with your family, Sing.
-
"Low suspicion" vibes to DR Elmore.
-
I think the Mercury retrograde is over, but there just seems to be a lot of yuck going on.
-
I plan to have a little chocolate, followed by a nap.
TTFN.
-
All is ready for the stumble-through - hopefully, I'll be ready, too.
I can imagine how frustrating this is. If there is an uncovered charge for the calls maybe you can get a price reduction.
I'm watching "The Court Jester" on Amazon Prime. It looks great--such vibrant colors. I don't think I've ever seen it before.
-
Now I know where "She of the evil eye" comes from! I'm probably the last one here to find out.
-
There were a number of issues with our car rental so we swapped it out today. Keith is happy but this one is bothering my back. Oh well, we aren't in it long.
-
Such a fun movie. I haven’t seen it in years. I need to rectify that.
-
Went out with Mom and got her a new clothes hamper for her apartment and a bath mat.
Damn! :-\
Cool. I just finished chapter 10. ;D
This was posted on one of the gay-positive Facebook groups that I belong to:
Another Pie in the Face for Anita Bryant: Her Granddaughter Is Gay (https://www.advocate.com/people/2021/7/27/another-pie-face-anita-bryant-her-granddaughter-gay).
Stumble-through was so much fun - to be back here with my singers and hearing them live - what a treat. A few rough spots, but we went over everything.
-
Well, I just sent the deposit to rent a theater space for Theater Artists Olympia's remounting of The Head! That Wouldn't Die! ;D
-
I had two In-N-Out cheeseburgers for food.
-
It'll go up in October, but rehearsals will start next month.
-
Now I'm resting my voice and relaxing. Not watching anything. Much as I don't want to, I think the air will have to come on for a bit.
-
PAGE FOUR DANCE!!
-
I can't wait to get back into a theater, too...even if it's at the mall!!
Listening to Titanic, which I haven't played since the day it came out. Oh, dear Lord, it is really poorly produced, I'm afraid. I mean, poorly. But I'm not a fan of the gentleman who did it along with composer Maury Yeston. The vocals are in a completely dead space, the band is far, far away and the whole thing is mastered so low as to be a joke. I will never understand this. When you have the cast albums of Goddard Lieberson, which were the gold standard of what a Broadway cast album should sound like, how anyone anywhere could think this sounds good is, well, they do, which is astonishing to me - that they can't hear the difference. Maury writes some lovely music, but his lyrics are a little pedestrian a lot of the time. Of course, the early preview I saw was so horrendously bad we all thought it might not open. But I guess they fixed it a lot or the critics were kinder than they should have been.
All of this in one post??
-
If you broke it up, we could be on page 14 by now!
;)
-
I haven't listened to Titanic in quite a few years.
-
I do enjoy it, but I don't remember what it sounded like.
-
I'll confess that I didn't know what to listen for.
-
DR TCB, only one typo, beleved
Thank you.
Low is good! Health vibes to you, Larry!
Hope you sleep well, Tom.
-
Oh, dear.
-
Dear oh.
-
What is this page four malarkey?
-
I do not understand it.
-
I refuse to understand it.
-
I have no understanding of this.
-
I am clueless.
-
And George just sits there like so much fish.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
Is someone trying to gaslight me?
-
How can we not be on page five yet?
-
Gaslighting is going on here.
-
Why I oughta...
-
This cannot BE.
-
We'll get there...eventually.
-
Something rotten in Denmark going on.
-
Only one more after this...
-
WHEN?
-
Geez, finally.
-
five!!!!!
-
And we have quite a ways to go in the next thirteen minutes.
-
QUITE a ways.
-
Oh, sure.
-
Just sit there like so much fish.
-
Sure.
-
Leave me on my own.
-
Most unseemly.
-
It's not as if I've never been here late at night!
-
I'll posted a LOT of posts!
-
I just can't think of anything right now. ::)
;D
Here's something: OperaVision (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCBTlXPAfOx300RZfWNw8-qg) posted the Opera North and Phoenix Dance Theatre's collaboration of Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C07vpo1Wlgs).
-
Here's the YouTube description:
Characters from Haitian folklore come to life telling their story of ritual, ceremony and celebration. All wait to be overcome by the female spirit Erzuli. Who will be chosen?
Internationally-acclaimed Haitian choreographer Jeanguy Saintus reimagines The Rite of Spring in Opera North’s first ever collaboration with the contemporary dance ensemble Phoenix Dance Theatre. Set to Stravinsky’s ground-breaking score, Saintus’ fresh interpretation subverts the original narrative’s notion of female sacrifice and approaches the work through his own roots, creating a shared vodou experience with the dancers.
-
At work, I have several boxes to go through and purge unnecessary stuff.
-
I don't need to do it "now," but I need to get started on it.
-
The boxes are in our old office, which won't be used for anything else anytime soon, so there's no rush.
-
But I will have to get through them all...eventually.
-
The old office locks, so they're safe.
-
I just don't want to do it. ;)
-
But I will.
-
And since I'm also being cross-trained to do other stuff, I don't have the time to just sit and cull the boxes.
-
...or even much of my regular stuff. :P
-
We lost one position (it was "re-evaluated" and eliminated), and they haven't yet filled a second position.
-
It was filled, but the person quit a couple of weeks ago. ::)
-
That totally was about personality conflicts.
-
The woman who had the job knew her stuff, but she did things her way, and didn't want to learn "our" way, because she thought that it was all wrong.
-
Of course, it wasn't...it was just different than the way she had learned.
-
PAGE SIX DANCE!!
-
So, she quit and hopefully, they'll hire someone SOON!!
