Well, you've read the notes, the notes smelled like roasted garlic, and now it is time for you to post until the smelly cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: RESILIENCE!
-
I remember really liking Witness when I saw it. And it was one of the first (if not the first) times that I saw Patti LuPone on the big screen, playing his sister.
-
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I had lots of dreams but I only remember bits of the last. I was working at Goodspeed on something while they were preparing a production of Jacques Brel is Alive and Well . . . The stage manager was my friend Laura Krause, who had been my internon two shows at the New York State Theatre Institute. I awoke with "Les Timides" (Timid Frieda) running through my head.
-
I'm home today waiting for an Amazon Fresh delivery. Tomorrow I will go in for my hip and knee x-rays.
-
DR singdaw, that's great news about your DH getting the job.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
A less than stellar night of sleep. Less than 4 hours. Not good.
-
Slowly getting back into my regular routine after being off for a week and a half.
-
Good morning, all.
-
This is turning into a shitty day. First the kitty litter-grocery bag bag leaks, then my Amazon Fresh delivery scheduled between 9:00 and 11 arrives at 7:50.
WTF?
-
One good thing happened: my Kritzerland Indiegogo loot arrived in yesterday's post and I picked it up this morning. I cannot wait to look through everything.
First, i have groceries to put away.
-
Good morning, all.
-
This morning I have to get myself moving and straighten up the part of the basement the furnace guy has to walk through in order to do its annual tune-up.
-
I was thinking about Witness lately, when watching a couple of other films of Peter Weir. I always think back to my first viewing of it at the Bruin with friends, and how we were blown away by it. But I even enjoyed an additional layer of blown-away-ness by having just spent a couple of weeks in our office in the outskirts of Philly, and having explored that very Lancaster County / Amish country on my own a few times. I'd fallen completely in love with the beauty of the place, the food, and being around the people to the small extent that an outsider can be. It's now been too many years since I've driven over and spent any time there, and I look forward to making up for that.
-
DR Elmore -- that Amazon Fresh delivery is ALWAYS way earlier than the window they give you, isn't it? I wonder why it's so consistent in that way.

This is great news, and now I'm excited at the prospect of finding mine at the front door soon. I deliberately didn't think about it much after the campaign closed, so now it's a thrill knowing it's time for things to arrive.
-
I hope DR Jrand70 will be able to drop in and give us an update on The Situation in Indiana. I was also curious as to the age of the pianist, since she'd had her first shot and was only about to get her second. Oy! Hoping for the best, even though I'm not sure what that best should consist of.
-
Exercising helped me to feel a little bit more peppy. But only a little.
-

I must be first on their route. I always request 9-11 since I need time to get my small apartment in order. My very first Amazon Fresh deliver arrived at 8:20, and the others until now have arrived between 8:45 and 9:15.
-
Has any DR ever listened to any of the symphonies of English composer Havergal Brian? Just curious about them.
-
I would not mind if someone smelled like roasted garlic. In fact, I have smelled like roasted garlic myself once or twice.
-
;D
-
I think Witness is my favorite Patti LuPone movie.
-
Her being in it was one of many reasons I went to see it on opening day. Peter Weir was another. I loved it then, love it now.
-
Good morning!
-
I thought I saw Lukas Haas’s name in a review last week. Can’t remember the movie, but he was playing a villain.
-
So as luck will have it (and it will, it will), I'm the latest target for early arrivals. My time frame for the furnace guy was noon to 2 pm, but they called at 9:45 to say the technician had time available due to a cancellation, and could he come over and do it earlier? In this case, of course, they always call to ask, and getting it over with this morning was totally fine by me. So I said yes, and they said he'd be there in half an hour. Then he showed up only 20 minutes later, but that was fine, too. So here we are. And here I sit while he gets the job done.
-
Haas is in Midnight in the Switchgrass, the latest Bruce Willis flick.
-
Two!
-
There's more!
Earlier I got an automated call from the pharmacy asking if I want to refill my prescription. That's new because I still have ten days left and they always used to wait till the last minute. (It's supposed to be an automatic refill, but whatever.) So they said it would be ready after 2 pm tomorrow. Half an hour later, I got a call saying my refill is ready to pick up.
-
And so we wait.
Thanks to all for the vibes for my situation and for my SIL - who is not having an easy time of it.....
-
The pianist is a recent college graduate, so my best guess is that she is 22-23 years old.
Of course, like Shirley Temple, I am trying to be optimistic and hope that we get a NEGATIVE result on the substantial test.....
If not.....well it's continued quarantine and testing for all.
-
I love the movie WITNESS....and I also like ALL Harrison Ford movies....he is one of those folks that will always make me buy a ticket if he is in the cast.....
Of course I love his performances in STAR WARS....but I also like:
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Working Girl
Regarding Henry
K-19
Random Hearts
-
Important envelope & package vibes for MR BK.
-
I have posted on the Facebook group that if we get a NEGATIVE result on the test, we will rehearse at 7 p.m. on Sunday evening....
Just trying to be optimistic with the cast and keeping my fingers crossed.
-
I made a Great Value Philly Cheesesteak-ground beef skillet dinner for today.....
I'm not going anywhere - so I may as well cook.
-
Congrats to the DH of DR singdaw on his employment!
-
DR GEORGE I hope this new person lasts longer than that other one that you drove away from your office environment.....maybe you should start wearing your tropical shirts to work and brighten things up.
-
It's lonely in quarantine.
-
I HAVE AN IDEA!!!
Tomorrow, let's ALL make our posts WITHOUT corrections. It will be DR VIXMOM day.....and we can see if we can read each other's ramblings!
-
Make our posts withou corrections tomorrow. this is what thes one looks olek without my coing back and correcting thinsg.
-
AH!
-
That's a scary thought, DR Jrand70, but also a fun idea.
I think I would be embarrassed if my first drafts were to be public.
-
~~~CONTINUED VIBES~~~ for all of your fraught situations.
-
I'm not up, I'm not up - three hours of sleep but need more.
-
My DH is on the soundtrack of Working Girl. They used the St. Thomas Fifth Avenue (NYC) choir of men and boys, and they were all at the recording sessions with Carly Simon.
He still gets small residual checks every once in a while.
-
Search the notes for Havergal Brian - pretty sure I've written about him - very interesting composer.
-
DR Jrand70, you always put a smile on my face!
-
Thanks, bk. I should use the search function a lot more often.
-
Colonoscopy is now scheduled for August 25 at 9:00. Joshie will pick me up after.
-
They are necessary but evil.
-
I found a YouTube playlist of the complete works of Havergal Brian, in case anyone is interested:
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLu6D2w79TomJZnKi70ChiQ26hCBx0SxI5
-
DR George, Keith & I both finished Project Hail Mary. I didn't want to say anything until you had finished it. We both liked it very much. Did you prefer The Martian to this? I do plan to read it now.
-
From DR TCB:
The only thing worse than a sci-fi movie is a sci-fi book.
Even an intelligent sci-fi book?
I am so very sorry :(
:)
-
LOL thanks DR singdaw....and thanks DR ELMORE!
-
thank you DR JANE.....those are much needed.
-
One of my other Sisters-in-law had some copies of old VHS tapes made and she asked me to copy them for her sons.
I was glad to do that....lots of free programs I can use....and it is so very interesting to see my now grown and married nephews as children.....time flies.
-
Being awake vibes for MR BK.
-
I am most happy with the DECADES Channel. At Noon we get two episodes of The Lucy Show & and at 1 p.m. we get two episodes of I Love Lucy.
The Ricardos and Mertzes in Hollywood right now - some of my favorite episodes!
Yesterday we saw Lucy at the Don Loper salon....and I know coming up next week sometime will be Ricky needs an agent!
-
My new stray cat Tigger will now let me watch him eat his Kit & Kaboodle dry cat food if I stay behind the screen door.
He is a very strange, skinny little fellow. He has a tiger cat face and a couple of tiger legs, but his body is gray. I keep trying to get a photo, but he runs away.
-
Colonoscopy is now scheduled for August 25 at 9:00. Joshie will pick me up after.
Good to have a date for that.
-
I generally enjoy Harrison Ford, especially in Witness and Blade Runner.
But he is no Humphrey Bogart in Sabrina and not much in Cowboys and Aliens.
-
I have fallen in love with the newest kitten to land in the NYC Animal Care Centers: 3-month-old General Cupcake. I don't think I've been smitten so hard since the moment I first saw Thatch. Much as I would love to adopt him, I know that three is my limit. So, I will keep an eye on him and see that he gets adopted. I can't imagine a kitty so adorable won't be snatched right up.
-
TOD
Witness
Star Wars
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Working Girl
It wasn't my fault!! :o BUT, my new supervisor said that she accepted the position and is real excited to start working. She won't be able to start until September 1st, but at least finally there's a light at the end of the tunnel (a Starlight Express reference ;) ).
-
And I keep forgetting that I need to do some laundry because I don't have any clean Aloha/Hawaiian/tropical shirts, so I haven't been able to wear any in far too long.
-
Nice! I'm on a CD that the Western Washington University Concert Choir recorded when I was in college...but I've never gotten a penny from it.
Hope everything comes out all right!! ;D
My radiologist has decreed I cannot begin radiation treatments until I have the colonoscopy.
-
I just had an egg roll with Chinese mustard. That clears your sinuses and burns the roof off your mouth.
No one is Humphrey Bogart. Of course the same goes for Audrey Hepburn.
They are very similar stories in that a single person has to "science the shit" out of his extreme situation to stay alive. I think I liked The Martian better only because it was the first, but I really did like Project Hail Mary.
So cute!!
It is very strange to be at home at this time.....when a show is scheduled to open next Tuesday.
I don't like it.
-
.
-
General Cupcake is adorable.
-
I'm up, I'm up - again - I have no idea how much sleep - maybe almost eight hours, maybe seven.
Interesting theory about why you like The Martian better. Eventually I will find out which I prefer.
:( Are you able to get out for walks vs sitting at home?
Thursday evening greetings! You probably figured out that we’ve been away for a few days. We went to Ohio’s North Coast (Lake Erie) to complete the paper crafting shop hop in Sandusky, Toledo, and Oak Harbor. We stayed in Port Clinton and there will soon be some proof our spectacular view on my Facebook page.
-
DR JRand, I’m so sorry to hear about your sister-in-law and about the developments within your company. You’re all in my thoughts…
-
Hello, everyone.
-
My musical quote arrived today. I'm very pleased to have it.
Thank you, Bruce!
-
General Cupcake is very sweet. Fitting, huh?
-
So as luck will have it (and it will, it will), I'm the latest target for early arrivals.
…
Add us to the list, DR ChasSmith! Just as we pulled into town this afternoon, we received a call from the company doing our basement work. They’ve received a cancellation, so our project will begin Monday at 8am. We’re not as ready as we’d like to be, but there it is.
-
More vibes for Jrand's SIL.
TTFN.
DR Jeanne which Similasan eye drops are you finding helpful?
-
DR Jeanne which Similasan eye drops are you finding helpful?
Similisan Dry Eye Relief. It helped noticeably better than the conventional eye drops I use.
-
Thanks. I can't figure out the difference between the Dry Eye Relief or the Complete Comfort Drops. The Dry Eye Relief are easier to find so I will switch to it.
-
I HAVE AN IDEA!!!
Hurrah! I endorse this idea
I don't know that my AR self will allow me. Maybe for one day. We'll see.
-
I just had an egg roll with Chinese mustard. That clears your sinuses and burns the roof off your mouth.
And I love that rush.
-
We had Chinese tonight. Mom had her sizzling rice soup while I had something new, Fried Rice with Chicken and Salted Fish. Imagine chicken and anchovies. It was strange and a little off-putting at first, but by third bite, I was loving it all.
-
I think it more a combination of flavors I'd never experienced more than being bad. It was light years better than the fish tacos last night.
-
I generally enjoy Harrison Ford, especially in Witness and Blade Runner.
But he is no Humphrey Bogart in Sabrina and not much in Cowboys and Aliens.
No one is Humphrey Bogart. Of course the same goes for Audrey Hepburn.
That remake of Sabrina was wrong in so many ways. Only Greg Kinnear worked.
-
Well, this sucks: Covid-19 linked to cognitive decline, acceleration of Alzheimer's-like symptoms, research finds (https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2021/07/29/health/covid-cognitive-decline-alzheimers/index.html). :o
-
I'd freakin' better not get Covid! I already have Alzheimer's on both sides of my family! I don't need this, too!
Vibes that none of us gets it.
:(
Soon you might be eligible for a booster vaccination.
-
DR JEANNE which episodes did you see filmed?
-
Thanks DR GINNY and DR JANE.
-
Well folks.....Morgan's test came back positive. Her quarantine ends on August 12.
Some folks want to push the show back a week - a ticket nightmare.
I have finally come to the conclusion that it would be best to cancel the show. It shows our audiences that we care about them and about our casts.
With the numbers going up and mandates coming back on....I think it is the responsible thing to do. I am sad to say it - but that's what I feel.... I don't want anyone else to get sick! I don't want someone in the audience to get Covid - even if he is an idiot and has not been vaccinated.....I don't want it to rest on us just because we want to do the show.
-
I guess I will see how the other board members feel.
At least one is all for going ahead....but I think the Executive Committee will agree with me.
But we need to make a decision so we can get the word out.
-
I hate this right now.
-
Rember tomorrow is post it how you typed it day.
-
DR John G. - glad you were able to get back in the "fish" saddle again tonight after last night's unfortunate event.
-
So sorry you are having to go through this, DR Jrand70. Torment, indeed!
-
I'd freakin' better not get Covid! I already have Alzheimer's on both sides of my family! I don't need this, too!
You do what you have to do. I'm sure theaters here in Olympia would do the same. :-\
-
I checked if the new Lapine Sunday book has an index, but it doesn't appear to.
-
Good night, friends.
-
And the next study will find that this study about Covid is incorrect.
-
I sadly think that many theaters are going to have to wrestle with this issue.
-
Indeed!
-
It's awful! MR BK you know how it is being a director and having to listen to fools and having the people in charge not really having a clue about the reality of what is happening in any particular circumstance....
It's killing me, folks.
-
Hugs, JRand. It can’t be easy, even when you know the right thing to do.
-
Good night, all.
-
DR JEANNE which episodes did you see filmed?
Sorry, Jack, I really don't recall. Thankfully, I don't have a particularly loud or "distinctive" laugh, so nothing recognizable. You can be sure though that I was in the audience for a couple of the shows.
-
Vibes of calmness and serenity while you see your way through this.
Yes, and it doesn't matter whether it's community theater or Broadway - the fools are there, believe me. It become so tiresome.
Finished with my viewing.
T.O.D.
I was thinking there were several Harrison Ford films that I liked, but I was mistaken.
