Well, you've read the notes, you know who's at the piano, and now it is time for you to post until the piano playing cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: LIMINAL!
-
Welcome fifty GUESTS!
-
Well, this is cool...today's Bing (https://www.bing.com/) Picture of the Day is "The shoreline of Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary, Washington state."
-
HERE (http://bing.plmeizi.com/) is a link to someone's Bing picture archive, and HERE (http://bing.plmeizi.com/view/1913) is a link to the specific picture, once it's no longer available through www.bing.com (https://www.bing.com/).

Today at 2:00, I have a Zoom union meeting. It's scheduled to take an hour and a half, and they've been very good about ending on time.
-
But first, sleep. 8)
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I did not sleep well, but I suspect my faithful companions did. Stella stopped by around 3:15 ro remind me I needed a bathroom break. When I did sleep, I had very strange dreams about friends dying and strange work locales.
-
DR Laura, they're pronouncing it Ahn-ry on the local news. When I first heard it, I thought they were calling it Hurricane Ennui.
-
I finished my Philly Pops work yesterday afternoon, so the only things on my agenda today are to read the colonoscopy papers my doctor's office sent me and lie around with the cats.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
I see there is a new Blu Ray/DVD/CD set of John Corigliano's The Ghosts of Versailles - not the MET version.
-
I see there is a new Blu Ray/DVD/CD set of John Corigliano's The Ghosts of Versailles - not the MET version.
I believe it's the revised version made after the Met production. I saw a gorgeous production at Manhattan School of Music, and I believe this is the on the new Blu-Ray. It's on my list of DVDs I would like to get.
-
Good morning, all.
-
George, that clip of Judy Kaye and company on the Tonys has and probably always will give me goosebumps. I could hardly wait after the original broadcast for the album to arrive in stores.
-
Good Lord, is it humid outside the apartment. The basement iand lobby are like a steam room. I have a large and heavy Chewy.com carton of cat food to bring up, but I'm getting my wind.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I Wouldn't be opening windows anyway, today, but I shall take DR Elmore's word for it about the humidity.

Count me in for that.

I just enjoyed a toasted sesame bagel with cream cheese and a sprinkle of Everything Bagel Seasoning.
I'd also picked up a 4 oz package of smoked nova in case I felt like going all the way with it, but I wasn't hungry enough for that at this point. I have one more bagel and will very likely do that for lunch.

I wrote this badly. What I meant to post is that I believe the new Blu-Ray is using the revised version, not that it's the Manhattan School of Music production.

Another weather site (and app - of course) that someone just pointed me to:
ventusky.com
I liked the look and the animation of this one right off the bat. Might give it a try.

Noted. And I’m curious about the revisions.

I think DR JANE is set to star in a new version of REAR WINDOW.

;D

:)

Lenny is giving Dino a run for his money.

When I went on Amazon to look for the new Ghosts of Versailles DVD, it said that it was “by Patti LuPone.” What does that mean?
-
Onward!

Two!

It means just what you think it does, DR John G. She controls the entire universe.

In the opera there is an entertainment with a middle-eastern singer named Samara, as I recall, and Marilyn Horne origionally played the role. I believe Patti Lupone played it for the Los Angeles Opera.

Hello to one and all... there's a new Broadway Radio Show up on this site for your listening pleasure. This time it's a fun selection of musical title songs called [title of show].....ENJOY!

From George:
Henry doesn't want a chair...he wants to be up on the table. My mom actually has a short cardboard box that he likes to lie in, and it helps in keeping him from lying right in front of someone where the cards need to be.
I can't think of a better solution :)
-
From George:
Yikes! :o I can't imagine being out of power for 2 weeks!
It is not fun, better in the summer than the winter.
-
From DR Vixmom:
Freezer stuffed with extra ice and cold packs
Great idea and one I never thought of.
-
Exploding transformers are very scary.
-
From TCB:
A new version of Whack-a-Mole!
:D

I think DR JANE is set to star in a new version of REAR WINDOW.
It took me a minute to remember why you made this statement :))
-
DR Chas how is your weather today? I hope you have power.

I was wondering about that, but Singdaw’s explanation really nails it.
-
Following the news I am guessing DR Chas does not have power, so.....
POWER VIBES FOR DR CHAS!
-
Everything's fine here. Most of the power outages are in the eastern half of the state. We're in the far western side.
The storm tracked farther east than predicted and we didn't get much of anything except a rainy day. But its force also greatly diminished, so we barely got any winds either, which is the best news.
-
Great news :)

Reading the news I thought you were without power.

The scene with Horne was a showstopper. I went twice, and I thank the gods the production was preserved on video. Here's a YouTube link that should start just before her entrance (go to 1:16:00 if it doesn't):

Sunday afternoon greetings! The crew that was supposed to be here at 8am yesterday to complete the front porch demolition had too many call-offs, so they’ll have to reschedule. Richard was away overnight Friday-Saturday at a clergy meeting in Indiana and, to be honest, I was relieved that I didn’t have to monitor that work by myself. I had a very quiet 30 hours and was glad to see Richard return late yesterday afternoon.

Up from a nap.

I'm up, I'm up - nine and a half hours of sleep.
-
Today is my brother-in-law’s birthday. My sister Brigitte sent a photo of the whole family, about 30 of them. Thei kids, grandkids and great-grandkids plus spouses

Do not try to adjust your set.

A meeting of the clergy in Indiana seems superfluous.

Very warm here today.....lunch at my uncle's house. And he sent me home with the leftover pizza. Which means pizza for dinner this evening.
Today is Tyrone Power Day on TCM....which is fine.
My uncle says that when he watched TCM now - every 15 minutes or so, he has commercials. I told him he must be watching it on some kind of streaming service, but he didn't seem to think that was the case.
Next time I am there I will look at it and see what the dealio is.

THE SPARKLING ICE REPORT
Black Cherry -- wonderful, a top favorite.
Ginger Lime -- wonderful, also a top favorite.
Black Raspberry -- it's fine, too, but though I used to get raspberry in just about anything, I'm kind of over it right now.
I'd almost be fine with just those first two, and call it a day, but there are a couple of others I want to try. And the price is nice, at $1 per bottle at the local supermarket. Is that what it is elsewhere? Does it show up cheaper anywhere?

Happy birthday to your brother-in-law, John!

And now, I must (finally) get my butt outta bed and take a shower so that I can be ready for my Zoom union meeting. I also need to shower, because right after the meeting's over, I'm going to my sister's to help her daughter give her cat medicine.
-
Her mom would help, but she's off with friends. Someone needs to hold the cat while my niece squirts the medicine in her mouth, and my niece can't hold the cat and get the cat's mouth open AND squirt it in with any chance of success.
-
Until later!

DR JohnG, how does your ma like her new home now that she's settled in?

I've been buying it on Amazon in cases of 12 bottles and with shipping, it's $12.10.
-

She likes it just fine. But one of her kids is still on the scene. When Linda leaves in a week or so, we'll see.
-
I'm also waiting for AT&T to give up her phone number. They still won't let Spectrum have it.
-
Glad to read that our East Coast DRs seem to have been spared somewhat from Henri's onslaught.
-
2 episodes of Belgravia to go. We're also half-way finished with Tomorrowland.

I don't know if I am limber enough anymore to do this quickly. With so many cats I became an expert at quickly giving medications. Liquid was more difficult than pills.
-
It's 95 out there now. I went out to water and came back wet with sweat.
-
I did see the most gorgeous cluster of dragonflies enjoying the golden sunlight of the late afternoon. I've never seen that many in the backyard before. I wonder what's back there that is to their liking.
-
There have plenty of beautiful orange and black moths on the chives lately, which are in full bloom. There must be 40 or so blooms this year. I've never seen that many before.
-
Nice, lazy afternoon.

Read about 60 pages in Jeff Abbott's latest, An Ambush of Widows, which is set in Austin and involves the murders of two men. Their widows are trying to figure out, separately so far, whodunnit. I think they'll team up eventually. Good page turner.

Micki Grant, who worked on Eubie! and wrote You're Arms Too Short to Box with God, has died.

Good evening.

While I am glad it isn't 95 degrees here I wish it wasn't warmer and not damp.

A new person who has been attending church had some kind of medical emergency today. She fell asleep during the sermon (I know, I know). I moved over next to her and I'd rouse her and she'd fall back to sleep. She would jerk awake when I said her name, then fall back to sleep. I got her a glucose tablet I had kept in the sound booth years ago. I kept waiting for it to take effect. I'd rouse her, and she'd wake up and smile and tell me she was ok and was feeling better. Her smile didn't droop and she could raise both of her hands, so I don't think it was a stroke. I finally walked her out to the church library and sat her on a sofa and called 911.
We really don't know her. She did tell me she was diabetic. We only know her first name and that she lives in the group home on the corner.
The paramedics were there within minutes, and they called for an ambulance and took her to the hospital.
I probably should have called 911 earlier, but really I only waited about five to ten minutes for the glucose tablet to kick in. The minister was still preaching when the paramedics arrived. So it felt like a long time, but I don't think it really was.
I mean, if we called the paramedics every time someone fell asleep during a sermon ...
-
Thanks to the weather either my allergies are bad or I am getting a cold. I can't afford to have either right now.
-
Tomorrow is my covid test.
-
Tuesday I see the dermatologist for my 6 month removal of pre-cancerous whatevers ;D
-
Wednesday is the endoscopy that only took way over a year to get. I would hate to have to cancel.

Thank goodness you were watching out for her.
-
I asked where they were taking her so the minister could visit her. They did tell me that. But we don't even know her last name, so it would be hard for him to find her with HIPAA laws in place.
-
I am glad she had you there, Laura. And yes, many of us have been guilty of dozing during a sermon.
-
Four!
-
That's quite a story, DR Laura.

Good night, friends.

Maybe the group home can tell him. It is possible she is already back there.

Keith found my father's draft card today online.
-
My father was 27 and my mother 21. They hadn't been married all that long.
-
The card shows their fist home together as a cute little bungalow near MacArthur Park.

'night

After helping my niece administer the medicine for her cat, I went to the Capitol Mall where Theater Artists Olympia was having their very first in person rehearsal for their remounting of The HEAD! That Wouldn't DIE!!! :D
-
I just stopped in and said hi and picked up a pay-as-you-go cellphone that pug the director (and TAO artistic director) had gotten so that we can take reservation requests.
-
We decided not to set up some kind of ticketing service for people to preorder tickets.
-
There are just too many variables with everything right now, so if it's all pay at the door, then we won't have to deal with any potential refunds if we have to cancel performances.
-
I did what I haven’t done in ages. I finished the last 300 pages of my book today. It felt restorative. I hope to do that more often. Like on vacation soon.
-
Good night, all.
-
Back from a surprisingly smooth stumble-through.
-
ChasSmith, my personal fave right now is the Grape Raspberry. But I really do like almost all of them - lemonade, lemon lime are also very refreshing.

Useless, but deliberate, Post #111!

I am afraid I fell asleep.

Hi, Tom.

I was chatting with a friend through text.

That can take an awfully long time with all that tapping on a phone with one finger!

UNDERPANTS!

Why not face time?

Hello, George.

He did eventually call me and we spoke...much quicker!

I hope he wasn’t Druxy’s client.

Not a fan? I don't mind him. He had a good voice, but he really was a one-note actor (pun intended ;) ).
-
My dad really liked him, though, but he grew up with him, so he became a fan.
-
He was, also, not a particularly nice man.
-

Oh...I think I heard something about that. :-\
-
No details, though.
-
I have to stop and think before I write “Ichabod Crane.” For years we had that disc jockey in Seattle named Ichabod Cane.
