Well, you've read the notes, the notes were one, two, three, and now it is time for you to post until the one, two, three cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PANACEA!
-
Happy birthday to Swishy Sarah - wouldn't it be FUN if she showed up?
-
I've never seen One, Two, Three. My library doesn't have it...not surprising, though.
-
I just read a little synopsis of One, Two, Three and I DID see part of it on TCM. I (now) remember that my dad wanted me to make a DVD of it and I watched part of it. I don't remember too much about it, but I do remember that Cagney's character worked for Coca-Cola, and that I enjoyed what I watched. :)
-
And now, I'm off to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
I didn't mention the ending of One, Two, Three - after all that went before, Wilder tops it all with an incredible and hilarious visual gag that's one of the biggest laughs in the film. And for something the pundits would like to say wasn't a hit, it played ten WEEKS at the Paramount before going wide.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
~~~RECOVERY AND HEALTH VIBES~~~ to the niece of DR TCB!!!!!!
-
Good morning, all!
-
Don't look now, but summer's over, one of my favorite Ira Gershwin lines.
I slept rather well, and I had a long dream about my Overture to Twelfth Night, of all things. Since its premiere in 2017, 47 years after I composed it, I've been thinking about revising it. There's much I like about it, but there are a couple of sections that I could have written better, and I think it's two short.
If anyone's interested, here's its 2017 performance, performed by the Southwest Ohio Philharmonic, a community orchestra, conducted by my friend Carmon DeLeone:
I hope today to clean off my worktable so I can actually work at it.
-
Good morning, all.
-
That is a charming piece, DR elmore3003!
I very fondly remember seeing One, Two, Three on its opening night in January 1962 in Fort Lauderdale, at the tender age of twelve.
I think movies opened on Fridays there, and on this very pleasant Friday afternoon I was at a best friend's house, a somewhat unusual older house that was always a treat to visit. I think his mom was out that evening and his dad made us dinner. Then he said he had this new movie to take us to, which we thoroughly enjoyed even though my friend and I probably didn't catch half of what was great about it. It was certainly my introduction to James Cagney, and I remember the fast talking and the packed house (as always) at the wonderful Florida Theater downtown. His dad's explanation about the then-new Berlin Wall before the movie began was literally how I learned about that. A simple, but favorite memory.
-
It's good to be hearing this again, DR Elmore!
-
OMG - ONE TWO THREE.
I first saw it on the ABC Sunday Night Movie.....and even with commercials - it was hilarious.....everybody watching - which eventually included everybody in the house was rolling on the floor.
My brother and I quoted the dialog for weeks afterwards....with "Put your pants on, Spartacus" being a particular favorite!
I could watch it again.....and again.
-
Movies that I saw in the theatre that really made me laugh....along with most of the audience include:
What's Up, Doc?
and, I am embarrassed to say, Porky's.
-
I remember the packed houses and audience reactions with -- quite literally -- as much fondness as I do the movies themselves.
OMG, yes - What's Up, Doc? - one of the greatest examples of this. Unbelievable. There's nothing even close to that kind of experience today.
Don't be embarrassed. I loved Porky's!
Well, the laundry room is again a complete mess. The super hasn't emptied the garbage since Sunday, and you cannot get near the bins. It's outrageous that my cheap-ass landlord, A J Clarke, is doing nothing to resolve this issue. I know I'm not the only one complaining.
Yesterday the Dept of Defense let down animal rescuer Charlotte Maxwell-Jones and her organization Kabul Small Animal Rescue. She was at the airport when the Dept of Defense made a decision to ruen her and her caged cats away and - God knows why - released the dogs from their carriers. So, Charlotte remained in Kabul and her dogs are now running loose around the Kabul airport to be Taliban target practice.
This report says the planes chartered to rescue the animals were denied access.
DR Elmore, you have the second worst landlord in the city.
I'm sorry, but we must deny you the coveted first prize. A friend in the West Village has the winner. It's a fifth floor walkup one-bedroom that she's been in for easily thirty years or longer, and the landlord would do anything just short of murder (well... so far) to get the last few rent-stabilized tenants out of there. Their response to problems and complaints makes your company look like a model of efficiency and Christian charity.
Commercial trade in wild animals needs to be abolished, and the idiots who purchase them as well as the animals suffer:
Only 14 more drives to the theatre until the end of the season and YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU....not that I'm counting or anything.
There are a couple of special events....September 24 and October 3....but I'm not counting those.
I love my friend Steve Hayes' YouTube channel "Tired Old Queen at the Movies."
Tuesday morning greetings! At noon I'll be Zooming into the book group at the library where my career began. They're meeting in person, but offering the Zoom option. That works for me because of this anvil I'm carrying around on my left leg.
Glorious!
I was honored to be the composer's driver when he was in town for that 2017 performance. It was especially thrilling to be in the rehearsal room when DR Elmore heard it for the first time.
-
COLE III has arrived at my house.
-
From DR John:
In nothing I've read on her beyond the book does she ever come across as the victim of anybody else's influence. I realize that can be hidden, but it never fit the picture here.
I call the a smart move from her lawyers but not racist. I hope the prosecuting lawyers are good and disprove that scenario.
DR TCB, please say hello to Sharry and Micheal from me.
OMG, yes - What's Up, Doc? - one of the greatest examples of this. Unbelievable. There's nothing even close to that kind of experience today.
This past weekend, three or four of us were reminiscing about how funny this is, especially Madeline Kahn as the real Eunice Burns.
I’m sure there are more.
There are ALWAYS more! ;D
Oh, my! Cases against 17 people charged in Jan. 6 Capitol riot on hold after lawyer goes missing (https://news.yahoo.com/cases-against-17-people-charged-191502977.html). :o
-
I'm up, I'm up - seven hours of sleep.
-
It's alleged that the missing lawyer has Covid and is hospitalized, but that's all third-party and no one has actually said where he is or confirmed any of it. Frankly, it reeks of delay tactics, but who knows?
Wow
-
The lawsuit from the former clerk makes it sound like he could have flown the coup, too, if he doesn’t have covid.
Oh my. and so many lies.
-
I've owned One, Two, Three for years and never watched it. I've dragged it out of the drawer for tonight. I do hope there's a good role for Annabelle or she won't be happy.
-
BK: I wonder if the Eureka/MoC release of One, Two Three improves on the Kino in any meaningful way.
-
I wonder if there was ever a keynote speaker at a Kino summit.
-
;)
-
Good evening!
-
TOD: Needless to say, "What's Up, Doc?" is on my list, as is "The Owl and the Pussycat."
-
More TOD: Young Frankenstein, High Anxiety, Mrs. Doubtfire, Tootsie
So many possibilities.
-
Lapine was really prescient, wasn't he? :)
-
I am off of my computer for the rest of the evening.
-
'night
-
The Eureka One, Two, Three is the exact same transfer.
-
Had a nice lunch meeting at the West Hollywood Hugo's - had a barbecue chicken sandwich - very good but very small, so perhaps a Gelson's run later.
-
Watched Wonderstruck tonight for the first time and was... well... wonderstuck!!
-
Good night, friends.
-
Need those vibes, my friends. I heard from my sister, Linda, that her husband, Mike, has covid. He is isolating in the upstairs of the house. His heart is good and his breathing is good, so far, but he is exhausting. He can barely make it up and down the stairs. He did have the vaccine.
Linda is living downstairs quarantining for the most part with her N95 mask and gloves on. She says she can't get the vaccine because she's told she would go into anaphylactic shock.
-
I'm going to finish packing and head off to bed.
-
Good night, all.
-
Vibes for Linda and Mike!
Vibes for Linda and Mike!
~~~SUPER DITTO!!~~~
-
A lull. ::)
-
Actually, I have something to talk about.
-
Well, it's more of just a mention, not a discussion.
-
But let me see if I can get to page 4 before anyone else shows up.
-
::)
-
;)
-
So, what do I have to mention??
-
Just this...
-
PAGE FOUR DANCE!!
-
:))
-
Actually, what I have to
mention show is this:
-
MY MORTGAGE IS PAID OFF!!! :D :D :D
-
Vibes for Linda and Mike!
-
When I bought this place in 2006, I originally got a 30-year loan.
-
Then, about a year and a half later, I refinanced into a 15-year loan.
-
Hi, Tom.
-
My 15-year loan (if I just paid the specified amount each month) would've been paid off in April 2023.
-
Page four??
-
This is crazy.
-
But I added to the principle each month and that actually was going to bring the end of the load up to January of next year.
-
Last week, when I checked to see that my paycheck was deposited, I also checked the balance in my savings account where the loan is taken from.
-
Then, I checked the amount left on my loan...which I had done very often.
-
AND there was about $200 MORE in my savings account that was was left on the loan!!
-
It essentially was paid for!
-
I could've just left it there and let it run out in January.
-
But I thought, why wait??
-
Why not just be done with it NOW??
-
At first, I thought that I could just make the final payment online, but since I'd never done this before, I wanted to make sure.
-
So I looked around on the credit union's website and saw that you had to request a payoff statement.
-
Fortunately, I could do that online, so I did.
-
Interesting in the WEST SIDE STORY movie ad the drawing is the cover from the Broadway OBC record.
-
I picked today as the day for the loan to end.
-
I received the payoff statement and that had the information to either mail a check or to wire the funds.
-
This weekend, I went to Fred Meyer to find out about wiring money, but the woman I spoke with didn't sound like she knew as much as someone who was going to take my money should. ::)
-
But then I looked around the credit union's website again and found that they have a phone number to call that was specifically to set up the wiring of funds to the collection agency (their term)!
-
So, I called yesterday, gave them all the information on the payoff statement, and they said that the money would go out this morning.
-
And it did!
-
It was taken out of my savings account, but I didn't know how long it would take before my loan balance would actually show as paid...would it be over night...a few days...a week??
-
Congrats on paying off the loan. Now let's pay off page four and get to page six.
-
Here's five.
-
Now get me off this damn page.
-
PAGE FIVE IT WAS PAID OFF TODAY DANCE!!
-
Notes are all written.
-
Congrats on paying off the loan. Now let's pay off page four and get to page six.
Thanks, BK! PUUUUUUUUSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
I kept checking my account online and earlier this evening, it finally showed that the balance of my loan was $0.00!! :D
-
Congratulations, George.
-
Thanks, Tom!
-
Now, I need to start saving for a new(ish?) car. :)
-
Gratuitous Post #130!
-
I gotta tell you.
-
We need more.
-
And then more.
-
And after more, more.
-
And?
