Well, you've read the notes, the notes were unsinkable, and now it is time for you to post until the unsinkable cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: RITZ!
-
It is the sixth largest fair in America. You bet there are a lot of rides. Sadly a lot of the venders couldn’t find enough people to work for them. A lot of the regular places never opened this year.
-
One hamburger stand who has been there since the Fifties, usually hires over 200 employees, but they could only find 43 this year.

Oh, my. :-\

Congrats, BK on the licensing A Carol Christmas! Hope it does really well!
-
And speaking of your Titanic recording...last week at the PFLAG garage sale at my sister's house, when the sale was over, there was a lot of stuff left over. Those of us who were working the sale took stuff because whatever was left was going to be taken to Goodwill. I took a few DVDs, and in the small selection of CDs was that recording of Titanic: The Ultimate Collection! Even though I know I bought it new when it was originally released, I don't know where it could be, so I took that leftover copy and I'll listen to it at work today! ;D
-
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
One rejection in this morning's emails.
-
I slept really well until 3:30 or so. Then, I could not get the tricky 9/8 Act One finale of Gilbert & Sullivan's Ruddigore out of my head. God knows what drugs Sir Arthur was taking.
-
DR TCB, I am happy that Buddy is okay.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
I have never been able to figure out how to quote a post from a previous day.
-
Congratulations on the licensing, bk.
-
I will have to try to find my copy of Titanic: The Ultimate Collection.
-
Congratulations on the licensing, bk.
Ditto!
-
Has anyone heard this? I love the book.
-
Good morning.

Congratulations, BK, on licensing A Carol Christmas.
-
Has anyone heard this? I love the book.
I listened to it once or twice. Not bad. But not something you need to hear repeatedly.
-
Squee, indeed, Laura.
-
May we all have a squee Friday.
-
May we all have a squee Friday.
Squee Friday may be even better than Taco Tuesday.
-
Has anyone heard this?
I haven't, but it's on iTunes. I'll give it a listen.
-
Instead of participating in 9/11 memorials tomorrow, the Former Guy will be providing live ringside commentary at a boxing match.
Seems about right.
-
Good morning!

A really scabrous review of Dear Evan Hansen. Particularly harsh on the score.

Onward!

Two!

Good morning, all.

Nice remembrance of the Titanic album in the notes. I shall have to listen to it again later.
Kristi's a Titanic nut, and was so enamored of that album that she brought it for BK to sign at the NYC Kritzerland show.

I have never been able to figure out how to quote a post from a previous day.
Copy the text of the post and paste it into a new reply. Then highlight it and click on the yellow "Insert Quote" button that's above the emojis above the reply window, which will put that text into a shaded box. Now add the person's name (or whatever you need) above that line.
So if this were from yesterday, I would make it look like:

HA!
We had a live[lier] audience last night....and we are sold out tonight and tomorrow night.
Most of the folks seemed to be entertained and I got some nice laughs....and Mr Kirby and I were happily applauded and laughed at for our wrestling....
So on we go.
-
I loved Titanic: The Ultimate Collection.
I looked at it in the bin and then read the song list - and when I saw that the theme from the 1953 film was there, I bought it immediately. I still play it often and certainly echo what MR BK and others here have said about it.
Of course then I started to look for BK Produced Cd's. I especially loved the Superman CD with all the cues from the TV show.....and the Lost In Boston series and a CD of songs from Television musicals......

Grazie.

Wonderful. Thanks so much, DR ChasSmith!

OperaVision is showing the finals of the 2021 Lotte Lenya Competition. I know the guy that won 3rd place.
-
Did you have to impersonate Lotte?
-
Elmore, I work for a company with 36,000employees, so one is bound to come across s familiar name. I just saw a Victoria Clark in a meeting I’m in. She looks far younger than your least favorite.

Sad news about Antony Sher, who was a marvelous Tartuffe.

T.O.D.
I'm about to watch an Abbott & Costello movie.
Not sure which one.

I read that earlier today. I loved Sher's book The Year of the King om preparing the role of Richard III.

Copy, paste, highlight the quote, click on "insert quote" (little box under front size, looks like writing on a yellow pad of paper)

DR Singdaw did that help?

One rejection in this morning's emails.
:(
And two or three more since that one today.
-
I'm up, I'm up - nine hours of good sleep.
-
That Dear Evan Hansen review is interesting. And they're now doing the same thing In the Heights did with advance screenings trying to build word of mouth - the screenings aimed only at teens and teens who know the show.
-
Must read that.
-
Monthly dinner meeting with my director this evening.
I believe Dear Evan Hansen is not on the agenda.
-
A really scabrous review of Dear Evan Hansen. Particularly harsh on the score.
https://www.rogerebert.com/reviews/dear-evan-hansen-movie-review-2021
Ouch!
I've only heard one song from the score, on the Today Show in 2015 or so. I was underwhelmed.
-
there was a young man of the appropriate age who sang a song from DEAR EVAN HANSON for his JOSEPH audition. He did a very nice job - but I don't like the story much..... I liked his version better than the one on the OBC Cd.
-
Y'all are way ahead of me.
That review represents the total extent of my knowledge of Dear Evan Hansen.
-
On our viewing schedule tonight is Ted Lasso, a half hour comedy we think is great.
-

Same here. I thought Evan Hansen was the suicide!
-
I don’t think you’ve missed much.
-
My BIL Mike tested negative today for the first time. Those HHW vibes did their job. He’s still weak, but he’s getting better.
-
That's great news, DR John G.
-
Thank you, Jane, for the explanation.
The proof will be in the pudding next time I try to do it! :)
-
Although I wouldn't mind finding some pudding, either.
-

Great news! Has your sister remained covid free?
-
Feeling back to normal vibes for Mike!
-

I can't recall the last time I had pudding.
-

Or a pork chop.

Yes, she has. Thank goodness.
-
Excellent.
-
Oh, Joy. I have to complete an hour of workplace Sexual Harrassment and Respectful Workplace training.
Not just me. All state employees. I understand why it's necessary.
-
At least it is only an hour.
-
I don't like the Evan Hansen songwriters - they don't write lyrics, they write statements and anthems, and rarely anything that feels like an actual person. The reviews thus far from the major critics are middling to poor, but it's gotten up to 53% on Rotten Tomatoes thanks to the idiot bloggers - those should NEVER EVER be counted as real reviews. There've been a couple of good reviews and a couple of "Fresh" reviews that are anything BUT fresh.
-
Back from picking up an envelope (thank the Lord), banking, and trying to get food. THAT ordeal, all told, just took almost forty-five minutes of my time because they gave me the wrong order and I didn't find that out until I got home.
-
Feeling back to normal vibes for Mike!
~~~Super Ditto!!~~~
We went to Beaches for dinner tonight, first time in a very long while. It was nice to get out. We didn't recognize any of the staff.
-
We did see our upstairs neighbors. They walked in ahead of us and were leaving just behind us.
-
We would have been there earlier, however, Bryan and family called (video chat) from their new home.
-
Such a difference between Bryan's new job and his old one in Chicago. The rate of vaccinated people is fairly high in Chicago and he wasn't seeing many patients in Chicago.
The vaccinated rate is very low in Milwaukee and half his patients had covid. I forgot to ask how many needed to be hospitalized.
-
I sure hope having covid after having been vaccinated will protect him.
-
Interesting, DR Jane.
-
Good night, friends.
-
Interesting, DR Jane.
Yes, and a bit disconcerting.
-
DR TCB did you get a covid test today?
-
'night
-
Good news DR JOHN G.
-
With the reviews coming in, perhaps they should call it DEAD EVAN HANSON.
-
Page 4.
-
Sold out tonight.
Big laughs and nice applause.....hopefully the same for tomorrow.
I think I have thought of a Mr Henderson attitude.....I think that starting tomorrow evening he will talk like Pa Kettle.....which gives me something to play with....and might amuse a few folks in the audience.....
We shall see. Of course I will let Grandpa Vanderhoff know what's coming before I hit the stage.
-
Once again our wrestling match got much laughter and applause....which is always nice. Mr Kirby got a few more leg twists than before.....
-
So we shall see what we shall see.
-
Congrats on a sold-out evening and a good performance.
-
We had about 50 people show up for Julie Taymor's A Midsummer Night's Dream.
-
We usually show the free movies out on the plaza, but it was in the big theater tonight. That left plenty of room for social distancing.
-
I learned shortly before the show that the reason it was moved indoors is because they're having to install a new outdoor screen. The old one just wasn't working anymore.
-
Because it was first planned for outdoors, then moved indoors as an indoor picnic, I asked what I should wear.
-
We have an outdoor uniform, a polo shirt and black shorts, and we have an indoor uniform on a white shirt and black dress pants.
-
I was told that because it was a picnic that I should wear the polo. I did.
-
I was the only one who asked and the only one in that attire.
-
The manager for the evening wanted to send me home until I showed him the email.
-
It didn't matter. We helped everyone as best we could.
-
The movie was fun, thanks to that screenwriter chap, Bill Shakespeare.
-
Taymor tried her best, but she couldn't defeat him.
-
She had a few good images and her Puck was a contortionist, which made the actor seem like a puppet.
-
But the play and her actors were really what carried the evening.
-
Max Casella, who was Dougie Howser's best friend in the TV show, was an excellent Bottom.
-
I haven't really looked at the rest of the cast, but the Oberon was excellent, really powerful and perhaps more of a force than I've seen in other productions. He held the evening together in a way that really worked.
-
It was a filmed theatrical production. Sometimes that worked. But occasionally the camera got in the way and didn't focus on the right things. Plus, once there was a closeup that focused too much on exposing the stage magic. It was a shot of Puck as he's attaching himself to a harness that would send him flying around the stage. Too much light on the strings stripped some of the magic away.
-
Still, it's the first Shakespeare production I can remember with a chainsaw.
-
During the show I got an email with my updated requests. I finally got Stacy Abrams. I had been about 17th in line to get to usher for her.
-
I wonder if a lot of the people ahead of me dropped out because we had to submit proof this week of vaccination or negative test results.
-
My next show will be Herbie Hancock on Tuesday night.
-
That should be interesting because I think it's the first show at the Tobin that will require vaccination proof from the audience.
-
Hello, 0 guests!
-
One more!
-
Five!
-
That's all he wrote, folks.
-
I need some sleep.
-
I'm getting a massage in the morning.
-
Watched a motion picture, had some frozen yogurt with chocolate sauce and almonds, watched some YouTube videos and now listening to music. I'm determined to be in bed no later than one-thirty this morning. Yesterday, I got in bed by two-fifteen. My ultimate goal is one o'clock.
-
With the reviews coming in, perhaps they should call it DEAD EVAN HANSON.
This was posted in the Broadway Remembered Facebook group. ;)
And no, it's not really happening! :))
Max Casella, who was Dougie Howser's best friend in the TV show, was an excellent Bottom.
Cool. He was also Timon in the original Broadway production of The Lion King. That still surprises me. :)
-
During the show I got an email with my updated requests. I finally got Stacy Abrams. I had been about 17th in line to get to usher for her.
Cool! I'm jealous!
-
But if you read that thread, most think it's real. That's what's really amazing.
-
DR TCB did you get a covid test today?
Yes.
-
During the show I got an email with my updated requests. I finally got Stacy Abrams. I had been about 17th in line to get to usher for her.
Is she doing her nightclub act?
-
What is the problem with Ben Platt’s age? Olivia Newton-John was 28 and Stockard Channing was 33 when they did GREASE.
-
Quiet here tonight.
-
Everyone must be out for Friday night.
-
Well, I need to take my medications and get to bed.
-
Good night.
-
I don't know.
-
I just don't.
-
Sometimes I know.
-
Sometimes I don't.
-
And that's all that need be said about THAT.
