Well, you've read the notes, the notes had a rough night, and now it is time for you to post until the rough cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ATONEMENT!
-
Yom Kippur and all.
-
Today, I'll be working concessions for a performance by Pat Metheny (https://www.youtube.com/c/PatMethenyOfficial/featured). I've heard a few things of his over the years, and I've always enjoyed them. Can't wait to see the show tonight!
-
Off to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
Well, thank God California remains Blue! That as**hole Elder was way too scary.
-
I slept rather well, and at the moment I cannot remember a single dream.
-
Last night we finished watching Doctor Thorne, and I recommend it. Thatch got into it when Louis got onto his horse in a drunken rage, Stella slept, and Annabelle, who's waiting for a musical adaptation, could not decide if she wanted to play Mary Thorne or Lady Arabella.
-
As I watched Doctor Thorne last night, I began to think about how much Julian Fellowes borrowed from its plot for his novel and miniseries Belgravia: for starters, illegitimate heir, drunken villain, corrupt servants, haughty aristocrats mingling rising middle class and aristocracy . . .
-
At some point today I will be released from Facebook jail. How exciting.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
TCB, Mike Nesmith and Mickey Dolenz are the two Monkees still with us and on tour.
-
Thank you for your post last night, DR TCB!
-
So glad to read that you also enjoyed Come From Away.
-
At some point today I will be released from Facebook jail. How exciting.
I'm so glad you found that file in the cake I sent you!
-
bk, I am very grateful that you have been re-issuing the Ben Bagley series of albums.
-
Feel better vibes for MR BK.
-
Yes Nesmith and Dolenz are left of the Monkees.....my favorite and least favorite of the group.
We saw Mickey Dolenz twice as the father in the Elton John AIDA and he was lots of fun!
Surly and homely Nesmith I don't care to ever see again.
-
It might be Neismith.... I'm afraid to look it up, his picture might show up on my screen.
-
Good morning, all.
-
At some point today I will be released from Facebook jail. How exciting.
Will you have someone on hand to drive you home?
-
Very happy to hear about California.
-
I too am very happy for my home state.
-
I also feel bad for all the money that was wasted for this recall.
-
Good morning.
-
Back from my first voice therapy appointment, which was quite interesting. After assessment, the doctor feels my vocal impairment is about mid-range on the damage scale. I have exercises - lots of exercises - to do on my own, some of which involve blowing bubbles through a straw into a cup of water.
I like the doctor very much. I will be seeing her about every week and a half through Thanksgiving. Fortunately, all future appointments can be done from home, virtually.

We want video of the bubbles.
And hope the exercises work.

Let’s move on …
-
Two!
-
DR singdaw, I hope your exercises do the trick!
-
Wednesday afternoon greetings! It's kind of dreary here in SW Ohio today, but a cool front is moving through to set up beautiful weather for the start of our front porch work tomorrow.
-
DR Singdaw, I've also begun an at-home exercise routine resuming the ankle exercises I learned in physical therapy just before the pandemic began. Here's to success for both of us!
-
Voice healing vibes for DR singdaw.
-
Thank you all, and wishing Ginny a full and successful recovery!
-
:)
-
This is the piece that will be played in synagogues all around the world tonight: Bruch's Kol Nidre (Aramaic for "All vows")

While it could be worse that does sound discouraging. I am glad you like her and the rest of the appointments can be virtual.

I always thought that Peter Tork was the cutest. ;)

Just had to share. ;D

Vibes all around.
-
I'm up, I'm up - was up at ten-thirty after seven hours - did stuff that needed doing, and got back in bed at eleven-thirty to try and get another hour. Probably finally fell asleep at twelve-thirty and here we are - so eight-and-a-half hours of sleep.

Off to performance #7.

Will this infernal page never end?

Jrand wrote a lovelier than lovely review of Some Days Are Murder:
Well Bruce Kimmel has done it again with his mystery novel "Some Days Are Murder". Former author's agent turned PI - Harry Stearns is our intrepid hero here. A former client has been murdered and his wife Helen wants Harry to find out whodunit. Traveling around the city of LA - and nobody knows LA geography better than Kimmel - Stearns goes behind the police in interviewing friends of the couple.
Everyone is a suspect and Kimmel's descriptions of them and their varied abodes are as enjoyable as anything else. Each of the characters is a one of a kind personality and are drawn so well in just a few sentences that you feel you know them as well as you know - your own friends. This is true although a few of them you would drop from your circle, probably.
Who killed Bill Forrester? Well it takes Harry about 18 days to figure it out. Each chapter is a day in his investigation and each day he gets a step closer to the killer - or does he? Even Miss Marple needs clues to solve a mystery and Harry doesn't seem to find any.
The chapter breaks are natural stopping points, unless you are like me and can't put the book down. It's like a film noir mixed with a 1950's PI television show like Mike Hammer or Peter Gunn.
If you like a good mystery story where YOU are part of the investigation team and want to put your own skills to work, you will love this book. I did NOT put a finger on the culprit - even though I was sure I had it figured out. It's a great book for fans of mysteries and/or fans of Kimmel's unique writing style. It's a step back in time - Harry drives a 1964 Pontiac Tempest - but it's as contemporary as can be.
And I haven't even mentioned Harry's secretary Bernice who is right out of the Gail Patrick-Eve Arden school of none-of-your business! Buy it, cheapskate, just click the button!

Great review :)
-
Poor Keith was stung by two angry yellow jackets yesterday. This afternoon his elbow is extremely swollen.
-
Somehow I did not get stung though the swarm came at us at the same time.
-
Very annoying how it happened. The landscape maintenance crew were spraying something, and apparently sprayed a nest of yellowjackets. It would have been considerate if the two men spraying had called out a warning to us to move away since we had no idea what was happening behind us.
-
Keith's shoulder, where the first one stung him, isn't as bad as his elbow. Still it is rather unpleasant.
-
Back from choir rehearsal.
-
Time to make some bubbles.
-
I'm so sorry that happened to you and Keith, DR Jane.
~~~QUICK RECOVERY VIBES~~~ for DH Keith!!!
-
:)
-
The Internet is abuzz about the new full-length West Side Story movie trailer.
-
I'm afraid that's all I've got.
-
Good night, friends.
-
I'm so sorry that happened to you and Keith, DR Jane.
~~~QUICK RECOVERY VIBES~~~ for DH Keith!!!
Thank you.
-
I normally swell like that but not Keith. At the time he thought he was stung more times. Now we think he had the one on his shoulder and two or more on his elbow.
-
I'm so sorry to hear that about Keith, Jane. I hope it heals up quickly. I've never had a swarm come at me; I've accidentally put my hand on bees. Or single wasps get me.
-
Thank you. It was a small warm, still.
-
DR Laura did you receive your covid test results yet?
-
DR TCB what about you? Do you have covid?
-
I hope you both tested negative.
-
Keith made a baking soda paste for his arm, what a mess. It does seem to have reduced the swelling some.
-
I'm still waiting for the results.
-
Vibes all around.
I'll second that.
-
Horrible story, Jane. Sorry about Keith. My dad always used tobacco on stings to draw out the poison.
-
Time to move on to a new page.
-
But we have to get through a few posts first.
-
I wish I had some news to report.
-
Long day at work. The stress, at least, was not as irritatingly high.
-
Let's move on ...
-
Four!
-
I'm still dealing with a group of people who want us to pull a product page out of thin air without telling us any details about the product.
-
Anyway, tomorrow is another day, as some wretched skank once said.
-
I was never a fan of Scarlett. Or that novel. Or that movie.
-
Sermon ended.
-
Dance class tonight was fun. There were several new students who felt they couldn't dance. And there they were, after a few minutes, moving around the floor. It was great to see. It always is.
-
We did an odd mix of two step, shuffle and polka with merengue, bachata, hustle and West Coast swing thrown in for good measure.
-
Polka, I think, is the hardest, because it's fast.
-
Here we are ...
-
Gratuitous post No. 99!
-
Hello, 3 guests!
-
Are you starting to observe Yom Kippur tonight?
-
Still enjoying One Last Stop, though it's not quite the giddy fun that Red, Hot and Royal Blue was.
-
There was a hilarious description of a drag brunch that starts at 7 p.m., because, well, have you ever known a drag queen to be on time? And true to form, they're all late.
-
I like anything almost with meringue. :D
-
I enjoyed the book very much MR BK. It's going to straight to the favorites stack.
Some savvy producer should of course make this into a series immediately!
-
The show was good tonight - but it was very low energy - to match the audience.
-
Horrible story, Jane. Sorry about Keith. My dad always used tobacco on stings to draw out the poison.
Interesting. I have never seen or heard of that before.

That would be a better show than 90% of what's out there.
-
Good night, Jane.
-

That audience is key.
-
Off to bed.
-
Good night, all.
-
Finished with my viewing.

I hated the West Side Story trailer - like all trailers these days it's so full of itself and self-importance and all those little trailer style things I can't stand. And each trailer they've done has done its best to hide the fact that it's a musical - in this new trailer there's exactly one sung line of Tonight - that's it and it's right at the top so you'll forget about it. The cheesy synth-laden version of that song that underscores is - cheesy. And all the new dialogue is just not so good. And yet, you read things like "I got chills" "I cried" - I mean, honestly. I mostly love Spielberg, but his two remakes of other films were terrible - Always and War of the Worlds. So, I'm not so sure. It would be nice if it were good, of course, but then you've got the brilliant original.

Oh, no!! :o

Negative.

I vote "no" on a West Side Story remake. Why remake a great film?
I would vote to remake Guys and Dolls or Man of La Mancha.

Well, since I'm back from the Pat Metheny concert, let's have a slightly belated...
-
PAGE FIVE PAT METHENY DANCE!!
(https://assets.jazziz.com/2018/09/pat-metheny-2013-jimmy-katz-900x470.jpg)
-
It was two FULL hours of Pat Metheny playing his guitars and other assorted guitar-like instruments!
-
Testing negative is a big positive.
-
When we volunteers got there, we were told that it was going to be two and a half hours with no intermission! :o
-
It turned out that he played for only two hours, but wow...the guy is talented.
-
And the two other men who were part of this tour, James Francies and Joe Dyson (drums and keyboards, but I don't know who played which), were both fantastic in their own right!
-
And I found out that Olympia was the very first stop on this tour!
-
They're going to Seattle for three days, starting tomorrow, then they're scheduled to go all over the US and then Europe until June!
-
They were selling CDs, a vinyl album, t-shirts, a hoodie, and a signed poster.
-
I bought the poster:

Here's a close-up:

And here's a close-up of his autograph:

I actually knew three out of four of the celebrities on THE $100,000 PYRAMID tonight.

Correction...both my DVRs are recording. :)

I actually knew three out of four of the celebrities on THE $100,000 PYRAMID tonight.
Actually there were probably millions of viewers who could say the same thing, but the one they didn’t know would be Laura Benanti.

Correction...both my DVRs are recording. :)
I'm also recording the two Jimmys...Fallon and Kimmel (no relation to our very own BK).

Yes, that's why both my DVRs are recording...Jimmy Kimmel on one, Jimmy Fallon on the other, and Stephen Sondheim on Stephen Colbert on both. My DVRs are older, so they can only record two programs at once. The newer ones can record FOUR programs on each!
