Well, you've read the notes, the notes were charged about the charge for the charge, and now it is time for you to post until the charged cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: WAMPUM!
-
I'm going to be looking for a new car soon, and eventual problems with all the newfangled electrical stuff in new cars is something I'm not looking forward to having to deal with. My current car is 23 years old, and I've really only had mechanical issues because there's not much that's electronic as compared to the new cars of today. :-\
-
So, I hope to at least get a manual transmission. That might help mitigate some potential issues, but the main reason is that I just enjoy and prefer driving a stick shift more than an automatic. Hopefully, I can actually get a decent car with a manual transmission, but if I can't, I can't. I do need a new(er) car.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
I learned to drive on a manual transmission. Took me a while to figure out the clutch.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I had a so-so night. I remember no dreams, but I do remember that around 4:30 Annabelle crawled under the blankets to sleep next to me to get warm - it does get chilly after 2:00AM - and Thatch was rather restless. He usually plops down beside me and only occasionally switches position or runs off for a snack or the litter box.
-
Today's horoscope promises something good and financially rewarding, which wold be nice, but the last time I had similar news it was the day Sunday in the Park won the Pulitzer. I do hope this horoscope isn't 36 years late.
-
I have some Jerome Kern work today. I've been delaying it for the past weeks. I also need to pour some Liquid Plumber down the bathtub and kitchen sink drains.
-
For those interested, La La Land Records is selling a newly re-mastered and expanded 2-disc CD of James Horner's score for Glory.

This morning, local CBS news continues reporting on a missing young Long Island woman, who went on a long trip with her fiancé. He returned tgo his parents' home, driving her van, and no one knows what became of her. Rather than being helpful, he's hiding behind an attorney.

Also, yesterday around 5:00, at Carmines Restaurant, on 90th and Broadway - eight blocks from me - three idiot Texan women, a 40+ mother, her 20+ daughter, and another, were arrested for attacking a 24 year-old hostess when she asked them for proof of vaccination before entering. I am so sick of these dumbass anto-vaxxer sonsabitches. I wou;dn't mind if Covid killed them all. The nation's collective IQ level would soar.

-
BK, wasn't Carmines where we had dinner with Sally Mayes before her Comden & Green recording? I would swear it was.
-
I hope your automobile issues are resolved quickly and inexpensively as possible, BK.
-
Good morning to all.
-
TOD I’ve been catching up watching older movies on various streaming services. I feel the quality is not as good as watching them on 4K or Blu discs. Plus I enjoy the special features that usually go along with them.
-
Good morning, all.
-
This is the first morning in some time that Annabelle has been feeling frisky. The three cats were leaping, jumping about, and playing together as soon as they finished their breakfast. I'm very happy that she's getting back to her old self.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I got to know those Rozsa scores in reverse: King of Kings (which I played to death, and went to repeatedly), then Ben-Hur which I caught up with later. I hadn't yet been going to movies by myself before 1961, and my family had never gone to see Ben-Hur in a theater.
Loved those box sets so much, with the hardcover souvenir books. I still have them, but they are not my originals which were trashed. Also have the other two that MGM issued, Brothers Grimm and Mutiny on the Bounty.
-
I love Rozsa's Thief of Baghdad score. It's one of my favorites. When I was in high school I purchased the box sets of LPs for both Ben-Hur and King of Kings. I think my next soundtrack purchase was in college: Goldfinger!
-
Time to do the recyclables and pick up yesterday's mail.
-
TOD
DVD: A few days ago I jumped on the bandwagon and watched Flower Drum Song, marveling at how great it is in every respect. That Overture/Main Title sequence blows me away. It's one of my absolute favorites. But everything about it, every single person involved.....just perfection. Can't wait for the transfer to Blu-ray, which I believe is next year.
CD: Yesterday I listened to The Streets of New York, because now someone is proposing we do that one. I'd love to, but it's scored for two pianos -- which I love, but it could be difficult to find the right person to partner with this time around.
-
Did your book ever
arrive get delivered, DR elmore3003?

I played that Goldfinger soundtrack album to death, too, followed by Thunderball. Those were my first two 007 movies. I had to catch up with Doctor No and From Russia With Love later.

Good morning.

My piece of unsolicited advice:
Buy a new car and take good care of it.
Except for stuff that wears out, we have only done one real repair on mine. It's a '12. None yet on my DH's '14.
They both had dealer warranty work when they were young, but that's all.
-
My son bought a car from a rental agency. He started fixing it right away.
-
Unless you like to work on cars. If that's the case, buy used.
-
This ends my knowledge of cars.
-
Did your book ever arrive get delivered, DR elmore3003?
The Hayley Mills book?
Original order supposedly delivered and never arrived.
Order 2 sent at no charge; never arrived; credit issued.
Order 3 arrived yesterday.
-
That should lift Hayley's Amazon numbers DR ELMORE.
-
I am happy to hear that DR CHAS SMITH is starting rehearsal.
I am even happier to say that after only two more performances, my theatre work will be done for the summer.....started in April....so it's been SIX months!
Of course the usual bored work will continue apace but no more DRIVING 70 miles a day......
-
Car vibes for MR BK.
-
Went to do the regular shopping today - and since I am OFF next week, I decided to do the BIG shopping so that next week I really don't have to go.....also stopped at the gas station for the LAST big fill up of the season!
-
I do have to drive down one more time after the show is over, for a special dinner for our retiring president on September 24....
-
Friday morning greetings! So, the work that was supposed to begin yesterday on our front porch is now scheduled to begin Monday. And, we just received a notice from the city that our water will be shut off Monday for about 8 hours beginning at 8am.
-
DR Laura, here's my friend Adam Grupper in the current My Fair Lady tour.
-
I guess my sister-in-law Lady Macbeth is having a party.

Ha!

DR Laura, here's my friend Adam Grupper in the current My Fair Lady tour.
The day I went to the Broadway "Fiddler" with Cousin Miriam from Scranton, Danny Burstein was out that day. The box office actually offered to exchange for another day, it was already too late to get another show, and she'd come in from Scranton - and Adam Grupper was going on. Miriam looked at Adam's photo and said "he looks Jewish enough" - and decided we should stay. He was really good, though of course the production had been built around Danny starring.

very confused but hesitant to join in the castrecl discussion of "Gee, Officer Krupke, Krup you" rather than "F-- you." and I guess if the profanity should be in the new WSS movie, and Larry, you mention a question of whether the number will even be in the Spielberg movie.
But doesn't "Gee, Officer Krupke, Krup you" sound clever and funny, though, while conveying the profanity.
while "Gee, Office Krupke, f--- you" is just angry at the end of a fun song.

Ha!
Meanwhile, my own sister-in-law Lady Macbeth could sing "Define Depravity."

I can't speak for DRs TCB or George, but everything here is true, although few of us look like the gentleman pictured here.
-
Ha wonderful illustrations posted today DR ELMORE.
-
I need this day to end. I’m tired. Think my boss, who yawned loudly in an earlier meeting, would buy that?
-
Worth a try DR JOHNG.
-
Can't wait to meet him, Elmore.

I know Sondheim has addressed this, I think in the lyric book. It was originally supposed to be f—k, but folks chickened out. Krup you is funnier because you’re expecting f—k and got something else. It’s like a rhyme that’s unexpected. You expect moon and spoon, but not bassoon.

I agree. Even though I have no problem with swearing, it is funnier (and I think makes more sense) to have them fake-swear than actually swear...at least, in the stage musical. The movie can be grittier.
-
Today's audiences in general might even expect to hear the actual f-word, but to use it in the show would really seem out of place.
-
But then, that could just be because I've known the show since I discovered musicals and a new line I've never heard would take me out of the moment because it's different than what I was expecting.
-
Just a thought.

I don't recall any swearing in the book for "West Side Story," so why would the Jets suddenly shout "Fuck you"?

My current car is 23 years old, and I've really only had mechanical issues because there's not much that's electronic as compared to the new cars of today. :-\
Will you do some online research first? It might help to have an idea which cars offer what you want and hold up well.
-
My son bought a car from a rental agency. He started fixing it right away.
We have a friend who used to sell cars before moving to the finance department. He said the one extended package he felt was needed was a warranty on a used car. No matter how great the car is at the dealership it could begin having problems as soon as the car leaves the lot.
-
Unless you like to work on cars. If that's the case, buy used.
We sold my car that was always giving me problems. A couple purchased it for their teenage son. We kept repeating everything that was wrong with the car and they kept responding their son would have fun fixing it ;D

DR George I FINALLY walked to the post office today.
-
I didn't walk the entire way as Keith dropped me off near the freeway entrance and headed to the gym.
-
On the way to the post office I just had to stop and play with a 7 month old Bernese Mountain Dog.
-
He was a total sweetie and found my dog treats in my pocket :)
-
Since Keith picked me up on his way home I didn't get as far along the walk back as I expected. I played with the pup about 15 minutes. Thank goodness there wasn't a line at the post office.

I'm not opposed to a used car (but I wouldn't want one with a lot of miles), but from what little searching I've done, used cars with low miles aren't much less than new cars, so why not just get a new car?

Cute!

I'm up, I'm up - ten hours of good straight-through sleep - that's what I needed.
-
It was always going to be Krup. Never the F word. Nobody chickened out - you couldn't have done it back then - not on stage, not on film. Plus the Krup is what works in terms of the song itself.
-
I don't think they cut it from the Spielberg movie and I'm quite sure it will be Krup as written.
-
elmore, don't remember Carmine's at all but it's certainly possible we went there with Sally. Also, I've been following the missing girl story for the last four days on YouTube. The media trying to make it MORE dramatic than it already is nauseates me - with ominous music even. Just report - the story is dramatic enough without all the hyperbole and bullshit. And they keep headlining their YouTube videos with NEW EVIDENCE - you watch and there's no new evidence at all.

Because Sondheim loves the word and wanted to be the first to use it in a musical

Oh, my!
-
Awww, cute kitten.
-
I shall shortly be on my way to the mail place and then to sup with the Pearls, after which we'll attend an opening night.
-
OPENING NIGHT. Were there ever more glorious words?
-
OPENING NIGHT. Were there ever more glorious words?
According to 42nd St., "musical comedy" are the two most glorious words in the English language. But opening night will do.
-
Got my flu shot today.
-
Then went to the library to get some DVDs for the weekend, including A Man Called Adam with Sammy Davis Jr. and Louis Armstrong, Original Cast Album: Company and the Merchant-Ivory movie, Quartet with Isabel Adjani and Maggie Smith. It's been 40 years since I saw that last one.
-
At Costco, I picked up a rotisserie chicken for a quick dinner.
-
Let's move on ...
-
Four!
-
Then I went to At Home where I found a trellis for the jasmine and some outdoor pots.
-
It's time to start thinking of fall planting.
-
Yesterday I started listening to a fun collection of short stories. Well, they were fun until the Thomas Hardy story arrived. Ouch. I think that man was in dire need of an enema. The story was so depressing. And then the heroine died. All too typical.
-
Good night, friends.
-
Good night, Singdaw.
-
Hello, 4 guests!
-
Have you found what you're looking for?
-
I'm beginning to fade.
-
Gratuitous post No. 99!
-
Got a new cookbook for my birthday, "Beautiful Platters & Delicious Boards." It's all snacks, dips and appetizers that you could use on a charcuterie board. I tried two recipes last night and ate them up today. One was several types of goat cheese with herbs or spices on them and soaked in oil. The other was for a cream cheese and radish dish.
-
Tomorrow I hope to try two or three more. One is for a shortbread with orange and rosemary in it. Another is for a roasted beet spread. If there's time, spiced almonds will be a third.
-
I also have to pick up my plants tomorrow. They've been with friends for several months.
-
And with that, friends, good night.
-
OPENING NIGHT. Were there ever more glorious words?
And Glinda's perfect first lines (https://youtu.be/FMwM8B3k4JQ?t=130)! ;D

OPENING NIGHT. Were there ever more glorious words?
Max Bialystock might disagree. ;)

Well, it's been raining a LOT this evening!
-
FINALLY!!
-
I like the rain, so I'm glad.
-
AND Washington really needs the rain, too.
-
Today at work, I received from Amazon the new cast recording of Little Shop of Horrors (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B098WBJ7K5), starring Tammy Blanchard, Jonathan Groff and Christian Borle.
-
Hopefully, I'll get to listen to it soon.
-
When I just went to Amazon to find the link to the LSoH CD, I saw that In the Heights (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B091VKPCJ8/) has been released on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K Blu-ray!
-
I had to order it!
-
So, I did!
-
Feels like rain here, too.
-
Back from dinner and opening night and must hurry and write notes, but really - page FOUR???
-
THEN, I saw that Bugsy Malone (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B096HVGSY2/) has been released on Blu-ray for the first time in the US!
-
Of course, I had to order that, too!
-
So, I did!

Power has gone off twice.
-
Oh, yeah, it came back on again between times going off.
-
And THEN I came across the newly released Blu-ray of Thoroughly Modern Millie Special Roadshow Edition (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B096D1WWW6/)! :D

Lots of rain and wind.

I didn't realize it, but it was actually released on August 31!
-
On the TONIGHT SHOW, Jennifer Aniston was talkin about her character on her new show and she said, She is trying to figure out what’s it all about.
-
And sitting here I said, “Alfie.”
-
And at the same time she said, “Alfie.”
-
Weird!

But Amazon hasn't had Millie in stock for weeks and probably won't. I finally ordered it from Kino and it's on its way.
