Well, you've read the notes, the notes were simple and Simonized, and now it it time for you to post until the simple cows come home.

About the Special Roadshow Edition of Thoroughly Modern Millie, I didn't know about buying it from Kino.  I bought a new copy from an Amazon market seller with a 97% positive feedback rating, not Amazon-proper.

I slept okay while Annabelle and Thatch kept me company. Around 4:00 Annabelle rose from her pillow and abandoned me. Thatch followed her, then returned. When the alarm rang at 5:30, I turned it off and went back to sleep for around 45 minutes.

I only remember one dream, something about meeting DR Ginny and my mother outside a building where I had an office, elevator issues, and catching a bus at 48th Street and Broadway.

Today would have been John McGlinn's 68th birthday. I owe the first part of my recording career to him and I learned much about musical theatre restoration and reconstruction from him. Working with him between 1984 and 1990 were some of the best working experiences I ever had, but as John's success rose, his personal demons - and there were too many, including superiority to cover his insecurity, vanity, and believing his own oress - did their best to kibosh him. There are days I want to dig him up to kick his ass and other days where I wish we were still friends and working on something.

So, I'm offering two of my favorite unreleased recordings from McGlinn's failed Packard Humanities Institute project. Yjr first is probably my favorite Victor Herbert number, ever, from Babes in Toyland, sung by Elizabeth Futral:
https://soundcloud.com/user5614139/barney-oflynn

The second is from Jerome Kern's 1917 Princess Theatre show Oh, Lady! Lady!, sung by Rebecca Luker and George Dvorsky, in Frank Saddler's original 19-piece orchestration:

DR CHAS SMITH I have read that play ....Part Two....and it is most excellent.  Some might even say amusing.....but I don't think you will be lost just because you haven't read the original....

I always liked it - and I sometimes say it - when some actress rushes into rehearsal and starts apologizing and it is said:  "Well, if it isn't Nora five minutes after A Doll's House."

My sister in law - whom I have written about before - is not doing well.

Her home nurse started her on a morphine drip today.  She can't take her pills because she can't swallow.  My brother called today to say that she could be gone in a few hours or days.

She is 58 years old.

Back from eggs benedict (really excellent), then a visit to CD Trader where I traded stuff - they didn't take some stuff, which was annoying, and the amount of cash wasn't really worth it to take as cash so I took credit, which was considerably more. I got a bunch of fun CDs, mostly operas and a couple of soundtracks - older scores but new masterings that I hadn't bothered getting.

Got the complete Mommie Dearest, which I could have sworn I had but when I looked for it a few months ago I couldn't find it anywhere. Since this came out nine years ago, I'm sure it's in a box somewhere - very annoying.

Also: Giordino's Andrea Chanier - know nothing about it. Ambroise Thomas's Hamlet. Strauss's Arabella, which I don't seem to have. And Nielsen's Saul and David. And I have a nice amount of credit left for my next visit.

Also went to the mail place and got the car battery charger - boy is it HEAVY. But I had to also buy a charging AC cord - doesn't come with one and I'm out of extension plugs - so there's a cord made for just this type of machine and that will be here tomorrow. It's got plenty of juice left to charge, though. I also sent a really scathing note to AAA - they sent me a survey and I really let them have it but good.

YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU went out tonight with a nice sold out audience who laughed merrily where it should and applauded where it should.....and made a mess by dropping more of the popcorn on the floor than in their mouths.

But the set is struck, the props are put away....the costumes are sorted to be laundered or dry cleaned....and the barn has been cleaned from bottom to top.

Goodbye. 2021.

And thanks to temps in the upper 90s, I am hot in addition to tired.

I am hot?. Didn’t Carly Simon write a song about you?

My sister in law - whom I have written about before - is not doing well.

Her home nurse started her on a morphine drip today.  She can't take her pills because she can't swallow.  My brother called today to say that she could be gone in a few hours or days.

She is 58 years old.

DON'T SMOKE, FOLKS!

I am so sorry, Jack.  Prayers to your sister in law and your entire family.

Got the complete Mommie Dearest, which I could have sworn I had but when I looked for it a few months ago I couldn't find it anywhere. Since this came out nine years ago, I'm sure it's in a box somewhere - very annoying.

The complete MOMMIE DEAREST?  Is there more than one part?

I have never seen a Neil Simon play.

Really?  I wish I had a tape of my CHAPTER TWO.  It was a great production.

My 28 year AA chip (coin) arrived today.  I liked the one I bought my sister so much, that I bought myself one.  I will see if I can take a photo of it.

It rained the hardest when I went to my sister's today.  Getting into my car was the worst...very heavy rains, but I like rain, so it was okay. ;)

Except for the eggs.

Before I went to my sister's, I got rid of a few items that had been in my fridge for far too long...including 10 eggs left over from a dozen that had the "Best By" date of June 2nd! :P
