That was nice DR ELMORE. Barnum enjoyed those tracks, too.
I'm going to my first thing this evening, too: The Doll's House: Part 2. I do not know the original Ibsen play, I'm sorry to say, but apparently you don't have to for this. We'll see.
tonight is our CLOSING NIGHT - and that's all right with me. I've been working on shows and driving 70 miles a day since April - so a break is in order.
I was researching the new cookbook DR John G. mentioned, and that let down a rabbit-hole. Who knew there were such fancy charcuterie board sets available? With hidden drawers and slate inserts and all kinds of fancy stuff.
I got my new bird bath yesterday. Got it set up a few minutes.
My sister in law - whom I have written about before - is not doing well.
Her home nurse started her on a morphine drip today. She can't take her pills because she can't swallow. My brother called today to say that she could be gone in a few hours or days.
She is 58 years old.
DON'T SMOKE, FOLKS!

Today would have been John McGlinn's 68th birthday. I owe the first part of my recording career to him and I learned much about musical theatre restoration and reconstruction from him. Working with him between 1984 and 1990 were some of the best working experiences I ever had, but as John's success rose, his personal demons - and there were too many, including superiority to cover his insecurity, vanity, and believing his own oress - did their best to kibosh him. There are days I want to dig him up to kick his ass and other days where I wish we were still friends and working on something.
So, I'm offering two of my favorite unreleased recordings from McGlinn's failed Packard Humanities Institute project. Yjr first is probably my favorite Victor Herbert number, ever, from Babes in Toyland, sung by Elizabeth Futral:

The second is from Jerome Kern's 1917 Princess Theatre show Oh, Lady! Lady!, sung by Rebecca Luker and George Dvorsky, in Frank Saddler's original 19-piece orchestration:

It's not the same as the musical sequel, A Doll's Life.

Did I miss a photo of DR GINNY's new front porch - or is it still a work in progress?
Richard had a very rough night last night - sick to his stomach - so we've had a very quiet day today. Watched college football all afternoon and I've been puttering in my craft corner. He's feeling a little better, but I suspect tomorrow will be quiet, too.
Has anyone watched the Matthew Bourne version of The Red Shoes on Great Performances?
And thanks to temps in the upper 90s, I am hot in addition to tired.

Got the complete Mommie Dearest, which I could have sworn I had but when I looked for it a few months ago I couldn't find it anywhere. Since this came out nine years ago, I'm sure it's in a box somewhere - very annoying.
I have never seen a Neil Simon play.
My 28 year AA chip (coin) arrived today. I liked the one I bought my sister so much, that I bought myself one. I will see if I can take a photo of it.
In fact, the only really heavy downpour occurred when I came home from the grocery store this afternoon.
The Seattle Seahawks play their first home game tomorrow.
I am determined to make that damn macaroni and shrimp salad tomorrow.
All them fixers have been sitting there since July 4.

Good luck with making your salad!
Except for the eggs.

Even the shrimp?? :o
Except for the eggs.
Before I went to my sister's, I got rid of a few items that had been in my fridge for far too long...including 10 eggs left over from a dozen that had the "Best By" date of June 2nd! :P

They have a brand new way to sell shrimp nowadays - in a can!

Yummy!
Well, it is almost pumpkin time.
