Well, you've read the notes, the notes were November notes, and now it is time for you to post until the November cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: HEGIRA!
-
Oh, George, be sure to tell your sister and your niece that Snickers are made with beef tallow.
-
Oh, George, be sure to tell your sister and your niece that Snickers are made with beef tallow.
I could, but they'd know that it's not true. They are SO diligent about checking food ingredients anymore.
-
I do remember when Hostess Suzy Qs were made with beef tallow.
-
They won't buy premade Pillsbury pie crusts because those currently ARE made with lard and hydrogenated lard. :o
-
Topic of the Day: I'm pretty sure that Red Robin used to have a chili burger, but they don't now. Otherwise, I've had chili dogs and chili burgers at Eagan's here in Tumwater. They're pretty good. :) I usually get them with just shredded cheddar and onions. With all that chili, you really don't need much of anything else.
-
Good morning, all!
-
Good morning, all.
-
Action-packed day ahead.
-
DR Laura, what was your grandson’s costume?
-
Last night, as opposed to the night before, I slept very well. Annabelle apparently loves sleeping on the pillow next to me, and I like having her there. Stella showed up sometime after midnight to curl up next to me. When I got up for a bathroom break around 2:30 I discovered Thatch's new sleeping preference: the computer chair.
-
Yesterday was frustrating. I only orchestrated around eight measures, which is slow for me. I could blame it on the complex piano part - way too busy - but you also have to gauge carefully just when to use the symphonic instruments as well.
-
Today is rather busy. I need to call Fed Ex and complain about the lazy bastard delivery person who once again has left 40 lbs of kitty litter sitting in the foyer at the bottom of the stairs to the lobby and not where packages should be. Fed Ex has assured me three times now that this will never happen again.
-
Then I'm thinking around noon to go to the CVS pharmacy at 86th Street and get my Covid booster, The site says "walk in" so I hope that means I just show up and get shot.
-
This afternoon I'm having lunch with Rob Berman and Jack Viertel. I look forward to it.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Fall colors have run about two weeks behind this year. Not that anyone's complaining. It just means leaf cleanup chores will be big later on. We think the trees got so much rain all year that the leaves stayed alive much longer than usual. It's the first of November and some areas are just now in peak color, which usually happens mid-October.

Wow. Very nice. Have a great time!
Oddly (and it was very odd, believe me), my dream the night before last concerned Rob Berman and Encores! It was very weird, and there was a hint that an upcoming musical might be Camelot. The damned dream resonated with me throughout the morning.

TOD
I wonder what my first chili dog or chili cheeseburger might have been. I must have had such a thing before I was 22 or 23, but unless I think of any before I moved to L.A., it would have to be Tommy's (I worked one block from the Beverly Blvd. & Rampart location) or maybe one at the Hamburger Hamlet. Or a chili dog at the Orange Julius -- maybe on Hollywood Blvd., but definitely in later years at Stan's in Westwood. WHOA--another memory just kicked in. Was there a Julius in Beverly Hills, on Wilshire at Beverly or Canon? North side of Wilshire?
Favorite in the burger department would probably be Tommy's, and later, the Carney's version of it. But it was something I only ever got when I was prepared to have a very messy eating experience. I never got the hot dogs there, I was too much of a burger nut to want to bother. In later years, I have loved the chili dogs at Nathan's original place in Coney Island, but I found even the ones at other Nathan's outlets to be just about as good but without the sea air.
As for what I like on them -- always raw onion, and sometimes grated cheese, depending on place and mood. But the onion is a must. I recently learned that a splash of mustard (just good old French's yellow mustard) is also a refreshing flavor addition. Just don't goop it up like you might on a regular hot dog.
I now haven't had chili on a burger in perhaps three decades, but I do make chili, cheese, and onion dogs at home. I actually bought supplies for them last week and tonight would be a perfect night for them.
-
NO REHEARSAL TONIGHT, I'll have you all know. Just Tuesday and Wednesday this week.
Next two weeks, though, we're back in it full time (which is really just Monday through Thursday, I cannot complain).
-
So this evening is an even more perfect time to have the chili cheese & onion dogs.
Thanks and a tip o' the hat to BK for choosing my menu.
-
On my hometown, there was a wonderful restaurant, Liberty, on Central Avenue. I loved their chile dogs. I think the late A & W Drive-in used to have great chile dogs, as I recall.
-
I have never had a chili cheeseburger - but I am intrigued.
I like CHILI hot dogs with the famous CINCY CHILI on it. I make them from time to time.....
I defrosted some ground beef so I think I am making chili today.
-
Congrats to DR TCB on his new wheels.
-
Reading vibes for MR BK & Co.
And congrats on the important envelope.
-
I have to check on delivery on my new desk chair which was supposed to arrive on Saturday!
-
Well maybe the supply chain cat is holding up my chair delivery.....we shall give it a few days.....
-
Well the chili turned out well.....I used my last package of Stone Mill Chili Seasoning from Aldi.....it's very spicy.....
And you get macaroni, beans, tomatoes, and ground beef in every bite - so now once it's after noon o'clock, I will enjoy a bowl with some wine......
-
Bob Hope: Isn't it a little early for a martini?
Janis Paige: Early? It's November!
BACHELOR IN PARADISE
-
Two!,
-
That Janis Paige.
-
Doctor’s office forgot about me. Great waste of time.
-
I did finish my very depressing Zola novel.
-
And went through my work emails.
-
I'm up, I'm up - eight and a half hours of sleep.
-
Good morning.
-
DR Laura, what was your grandson’s costume?
A policeman.
-
He handcuffed Grandpa.
-
And he had trouble getting the key in to unlock it. "No, I'll do it!"
-
Poor Grandpa had to wait quite a while before he was able to get the key in and set him free.
-
TOD: I don't believe I have ever had a chili dog or chili burger.
-
He handcuffed Grandpa.
Ha!
-
I’m a Cincinnati chili lover, so give me a Coney puled high or a bowl with spaghetti, onions and cheese and day.
-
Cincinnati Chili, of course, now and forever.
And omelets. But I haven't had a chili/cheese/onion omelet in a long time. Must rectify that.
-
Back from banking. First bank, in and out in three minutes. My bank? Twenty minutes. What else is new?
-
Good afternoon!
-
Congrats on your new scooter, TCB!
-
DR George having a drop box a block from your house is very convenient.
-
DR TCB congrats on the new scooter. I was going to ask, if you hadn't mentioned it, if you got a trade in on the old scooter.
-
Congrats on your new scooter, TCB!
Indeed. Congratulations. We want a picture.
-
TCB do you prefer your new scooter to the old one?
-
From TCB:
But all I could find (that I like) were Nestle’s Krackel bars.
Is that a Hershey's Krackel or a Nestle's Crunch?

I had a wonderful lunch and Rob had a gift for me: a beautifully framed letter from Victor Herbert, 1889.
-
My neighbor Michael just carried up the carton thatr Fed Ex left at the bottom of the stairs. It's such a relief to have it.
-
I had a wonderful lunch and Rob had a gidt for me: a beautifully framed letter from Victor Herbert, 1889.
Wow.
-
Makes me feel like Charlie Brown. All I got was a rock.
-
Let’s move on …
-
Three!
-
Well, I went to the CVS pharmacy around 12:15 and they do not take walk-ins. I yold them the New York City Covid site said they did. I screamed, yelled, kicked, threw merchandise, and told them their mothers were whores and God was dead. They gave me a phone number to call and told me to grow up.
-
So, I have an appointment on Monday morning. Nov. 8, at 11:30 for my booster.
-
I had a wonderful lunch and Rob had a gift for me: a beautifully framed letter from Victor Herbert, 1889.
Wow.
It's nice. I'll try to take a photo of it.
-
I'm very sleepy.
-
Post deleted.
-
DR ELMORE I think there was a woman behind me on Wednesday evening who came in without an appt. and was given the same treatment.
She was also unhappy - the website does say they will accept WALK-INS.....so it is a puzzlement.
-
A letter from 1889?
Those postal workers are really slacking off!
-
Tonight of course in 9-1-1 and The Big Leap and BELOW DECK.....so there are lots of things to watch.
-
I need to buy a new card table.....
-
I need to buy a new card table.....
You could pick one up for me while you’re at it.
-
Thank you in advance.
-

Blame DeJoy.
-
Had a Gelson's chicken Caesar to tide me over until later.

LOL!

I have never really liked chili, and the only chili dog I enjoyed was at Cupids.
-
Monday evening greetings! Today I ventured out to the November meeting of Middletown Current Events Club. I hardly know how to be social any more.
-
Yum, Cincinnati chili! We saw an ad for Skyline yesterday that may determine tonight's dinner. Give me a 4-way bean, please.
-
Good evening, friends.
-
Work was very busy today, but we had a successful first day of Open Enrollment.
-
Congratulations on your new scooter, DR TCB.
-
I got through the entire Halloween season without eating one piece of candy!
-
I don't know especially what makes a chili Cincinnati chili or Skyline chili, but... ...I'll have some. :)
-
Glad you got an appointment, DR elmore3003.
-
Also, that letter sounds thrilling.
-
I got through the entire Halloween season without eating one piece of candy!
Congratulations.
-
I shall now be on my way to the theater.
-
Chili cheese fries, anybody?
-
Good night, friends.

I have never really liked chili, and the only chili dog I enjoyed was at Cupids.
My sister makes a pretty good vegan chili with different kinds of beans, but even though it's vegan, it still has the chili spices, so you probably wouldn't like that, either.
-
I hardly know how to be social any more.
I have felt the same lately.
-
Chili cheese fries, anybody?
They never look that good.
-
Watching the start of an Italian comedy called An Almost Ordinary Summer. A working class family rents a country place rented from a richer family. Turns out the two fathers are getting married, and the kids are anything but accepting.

I stepped off a curb today and hurt my foot slightly. Dancing was not fun tonight.
-
Gratuitous post No. 99!
-
Good night, all.
-
Over 2 hours without a post!
-
I stepped off a curb today and hurt my foot slightly. Dancing was not fun tonight.
Oh, no! Hopefully, your foot feels better quickly, John!
-
Well, shit!
-
Over 2 hours without a post!
And now, two posts within seconds of each other! ;D
-
What the heck is going on this week?
-
Hi, Tom.
-
And last week?
-
And, I guess, the week before that.
-
Has no one yet figured out that if you don’t post, you get stuck with my rambling dribble?
-
Thanks for all the nice congrats on my new scooter.
-
Today I was off to the store and the credit union.
-
Today, I received in the mail at my house the new DigiMIX release of the 1987 Colchester Cast recording of (mostly) Rodgers and Hart's The Girl Friend (https://castalbums.org/recordings/The-Girl-Friend-1987-Colchester-Cast/1231#70612).
-
Driving out of the parking I was actually feeling like I was driving a new car!
-
I know that’s weird.
-
And at work, I received the new concert cast recording of Candide (https://castalbums.org/recordings/Candide-2018-Concert-Cast/46357#70530). :)
-
I did have the new scooter in the trunk.
-
I did have the new scooter in the trunk.
That's good enough!

Tonight, I filled out my ballot and will put it in the drop box before I go to work.
-
I streamed a rather unusual play on the Broadway network.
-
I did a little research online about which candidates to choose...I hope I chose wisely.
-
Page five.
-
I streamed a rather unusual play on the Broadway network.
Which one?
-
The play was titled SOUTHERN BAPTIST SISSIES.
-
The only person in the cast I recognized was Leslie Jordan.
-
One half of the play took place in and around a church with four young sissies trying to deal with being gay.
-
The play was titled SOUTHERN BAPTIST SISSIES.
I've heard of that. I used to follow Del Shores, the author, on Instagram.
-
The other half had a gay queen played by Leslie Jordan (duh) and a drunk woman talking at a gay piano bar.
-
It had some good moments. It had some laughs (Leslie Jordan), some tears. I enjoyed it.
-
He had written another play (movie?) that had Olivia Newton John in it.
-

Nice.
-
He had written another play (movie?) that had Olivia Newton John in it.
Sordid Lives (https://www.broadwayhd.com/movies/sordid-lives?display=poster) is the title.
-
It was a play, then a movie, then a 12-episode TV series.
-
I saw two not very good Titanic documentaries last week.
-
Both included this pompous ass Titanic expert.
-
Both included this pompous ass Titanic expert.
Darn. :-\
-
I believe he was on the ship when we sailed out to the wreck site.
-
I believe he was on the ship when we sailed out to the wreck site.
Interesting.
-
He is a Lordite, which means he sides with Captain Stanley Lord that his ship, the Californian, was not within 10 miles of the Titanic when it sank.
-
He was just as pompous and just as wrong in both of these two docs.
-
He was just as pompous and just as wrong in both of these two docs.
That's too bad.
-
I actually started yelling at the TV. He is so insufferable.
-
From TCB:
But all I could find (that I like) were Nestle’s Krackel bars.
Is that a Hershey's Krackel or a Nestle's Crunch?
Yes. ;D
Correct. They were Crunch bars. I lied.
-
So, I looked up Del Shores on IMDb, and then saw that Delta Burke was in the movie version of Sordid Lives, and then I saw some IMDb pictures from when she was on Filthy Rich (which she was on before she was in Designing Women, then I happened to look at the IMDb listing of another actor in Filthy Rich, Charles Frank, and it turns out that he was born in Olympia, Washington!
-
Who knew?? ;D
-
Foot vibes to John G.
-
Back from a very good play reading and then a very good meal. Notes just went up.
