Well, you've read the notes, the note were Bliss, and now it is time for you to post until the blissful cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is:STALWART!
-
Welcome, forty-seven GUESTS.
-
From last night...Tom, I have a clock in my living room that is also right only twice a day. ::)
;)
-
I had a friend in high school whose last name was Bliss. Every year, graduating seniors got a "senior t-shirt" with a design by a senior, and they could have their name or something printed on it, too.
His said, "Ignorance is..."

Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!

A Trump-Kennedy run in 2024? Trump supporters really are the creme de la ignorant. Trump isn't really a Republican; he should honestly be considered the American Nazi Party. What I really really hope is that by 2023 he's either dead by natural or unnatural causes or he's in some federal prison for good.
-
I'm very unhappy about the GOP sweep last night. I blame Sinema and Manchin, who I still believe are GOP cuckoos in the Democrat nest.
-
I slept very well last night. I like the chilly weather for sleeping, and the cats like cuddling up to Daddy, so all is good on that front.
-
I'm down to about 15 measures ob my chart, so I'll see how fdar I get today. That piano part is a bear to write out, especially in a different key!
-
BK, did I miss it? Your casting comment has me curious. What's happening with your LA Then and Now show?
-
DR TCB, I love the new Birkemobile! And the clock, too.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Ask BK:
Tons of 16mm film and FIVE (5) projectors? (What kind(s) of projectors? I'm just curious.) That's so impressive, and I hope it's all in good shape.
-
BK, did I miss it? Your casting comment has me curious. What's happening with your LA Then and Now show?
I just saw it on Facebook: April 2022 revival! :)
-
DR TCB, I love the new Birkemobile! And the clock, too.
Yes, that clock is incredible. Can it not be made workable, or do you just not care about having it work?
-
I think they should make Birkemobiles in bright red, though, to clearly signal that MID-LIFE CRISIS.
-
I know nothing at all about the show's score, but this Dear Evan Hansen song orchestration is sounding most intriguing.
-
Yum Yum Donuts sounds and even looks familiar, but I dunno -- was it around in the 70s or 80s?
-
Good to see vixmom here last night, however briefly!
-
Answering my own question: Yum Yum was founded in 1971 and expanded fairly rapidly, so I would certainly remember having seen them around. Whether I ever had their donuts is another question. I see they bought up the Winchell's chain, and according to Wikipedia there are some 126 Yum Yums and Winchells around the greater L.A. area now.

News Flash:
The "$3.00 Bundle" at McDonald's is now $3.50.

That's since a week ago. Don't ask me how I know this. ::)
-
Good morning, all.

Allergies kept me awake.

No sleep mask, no quality sleep

Thank you. I was wondering the same. Such a good score.

This is my favorite version of the song:

Kitty cleanup was messier than usual this morning. One of the cats - I don't know which - threw up next to their breakfast dishes. I just happy that for once I didn't step in it.

From TCB:
Did any of you see the crowd that showed up in Dealey Plaza to see the return of JFK Jr., who never died. There were many signs calling for a Trump/Kennedy ticket in 2024!
I only heard they were waiting for JFK Jr to show up. What a fascinating combination on that ticket, if it was even possible.

Most trips home included a stop at Winchell's after leaving the airport & before my final destination. Always it was for a crumb donut, and a few other options. Over the years the donuts became inconsistent and eventually not worth stopping for :(

Good morning.

DR JANE thank you. It was great fun.
Carol is always fun to talk to - and we love talking about when we were kids.
We were in the second group of three grandkids.....we always seemed to come in threes.....and Carol, Jenny, and Jack, were a trio to be reckoned with for sure.
-
I had the O'Charley's famous cheeseburger & fries. And since it was free pie day, I brought home a slice of pecan pie.
And we had a very good server who was pleasant from beginning to end...... Carol had endless soup (potato cheese) and salad - the bill was only $24.90 not including the tip.....
-
DVD from DR George in the mail! Thank you, sir!
-
I would like a cheeseburger and fries.
That's what I would like. What I'm getting is a make-it-at-home smoked deli turkey sandwich on multigrain-and-seeds bread with a sliced tomato and a half sour pickle. Not that there's anything wrong with that. But honestly, I think someday they'll be able to put a cheeseburger in front of my corpse and it will rise up and eat it.

Winchell's was the go-to all around town then, or so it seemed. Then once I discovered Stan's in Westwood, nothing else would do. Except that when I had moved to Redondo Beach and wasn't around Westwood so often, I "discovered" Dunkin' Donuts which had a really nice eat-in place in a prime location in Torrance. It was on my way to work, so I'd stop in occasionally and enjoy the donuts and coffee at the counter or in a booth. I thought their donuts were fine then, even though they're ubiquitous and "okay" nowadays. But the great thing was the coffee -- served in a regular ceramic mug the way coffee was meant to be served, and it was delicious. No one (especially young people, but even people who are old enough to know better) believes me now, but that's how they got their reputation for the coffee. Yes, kids, we used to drink from a vessel in which you could actually taste it, as opposed to tasting the plastic lid and styrofoam of today's cups -- which even runneth over if you are not careful.
-
Chas, I got a cup of coffee from Dunkin once and it was so awful I poured it out onto the ground.

I'm surprised! I love the coffee from Dunkin' Donuts.
-
Ha. That's okay, DR Laura. Everything has its detractors, even Dunkin' Donuts coffee. :)
-
I'm up, I'm up - I have no idea how much sleep but I do know I've about had it with these allergies. I think I got about six or seven hours but who knows. It alarms me when the Claritin-D takes so long to work and even then isn't working as it usually does.
-
ChasSmith - I think there are four Eiki projectors and one Bell and Howell if I remember correctly. I used one of them about fifteen years ago and it worked fine. I'm sure they're all fine but probably should be cleaned and stuff.
-
Allergy vibes for BK and all.

Three!

I didn't know about the coffee at Dunkin Donuts, and since I don't drink coffee I wouldn't bother going there for their donuts.
You know I love Stan's, however, his crumb donuts weren't as good as Winchell's.

Donuts are not my friend right now - my system just doesn't do well with them - don't know why.

Did the podcast - it was long but fun.

It was also fun but long.

The good news: I finished the chart.
-
The bad news: I just learned that my grade school best friend, John Hawkins, has died. He and his brother Tom lived down the street from us on Park Drive. We were friends until we lost touch when his family moved, and DR Ginny's husband Richard became my best friend from Junior High through high school. About twenty-five years ago, John called me out of the blue and we reconnected. About five years ago, I told him he should come and visit me in NYC. He didn't take me up on my offer, aqnd just this morning, before I got the email about his death, I was thinking about him, and thinking, if he came to New York now to visit, I'd be a poor guide on that damned walker.
-
Thank you, George, for my “Golden Apple.”
-
Sorry for your loss, Elmore.
-
DVD from DR George in the mail! Thank you, sir!
You're very welcome, ChasSmith! Glad it got to you fairly quickly!

Congrats, Larry!

For lunch I had a Cadbury fruit & nut bar, and for dinner I had frozen brussel sprouts and a fried egg sandwich. Are my stars in collision?

Good evening, friends.

It seems that both congratulations and condolences are in order for DR elmore3003.
-
Not necessarily in that order.
-
It was a busy day.
-
Only two and half more months to go. :P

Condolences to DR ELMORE on the passing of his friend.

Yum YUM donuts.
Every time I hear YUM YUM I think about Sugarpuss O'Shea.....

I'm not decorating, but I have a huge soft spot for holiday music, and when I can, I've been listening to WQXR's holiday music stream:

Too early?

Well, it's not bothering anyone else, at any rate.

In my tiny little department, TWO of my work colleagues have gotten kittens within the past week.

Unbelievable BS today. Car battery dead - completely drained. Couldn't even open the front door and so had to use the key that's within the fob. Great. But my charger was in the trunk. No key, and I thought you could pop the trunk from inside the car, just as you can pop the hood. But noooo - that's electrical, unlike the hood. So, had to pay ninety bucks (up from the last time) to get it charged. I now know I have to just keep this thing in the house or just bring it with me in the front seat whenever I drive somewhere. I'm so tired of dealing with this crap I can't tell you. But here's the idiocy: the AAA had JUST removed ninety bucks from my account to renew. But even though they took the dough, the renewal actually doesn't begin for another seven days - and they wouldn't do the battery thing for free even though the new period is just seven days away. So, as soon as I finished booking the guy, I told them to refund my money and that I was done with them. So, the refund will pay for the guy coming out today. Who needs this? Certainly not I.
-
So, right now the charger is on my front passenger seat, covered by my coat. I'll bring it in the house every night, and put it back on the front seat whenever I'm driving somewhere. In the end, I simply think after eleven years, this car has had it - the electrical system is completely screwy and I don't think it's getting better, but worse. And to pour yet more money into it, which would be considerable with the electrical issues, is just wasted money.
-
Henry sure is cute.
-
Bella has beautiful markings.
-
Meanwhile, my supervisor has two already, but says, "Hmmm.... I don't have one in THAT color!" :D
;D

Battery vibes for BK.

Bella e molta bella. Henry is a right smart young thing.

Gratuitous post No. 99!

Were you late renewing causing the delay? I can't think of any other reason the renewal wasn't continuous.

Good afternoon.

Afternoon, the sun must be shining there ;)

'night

Sorry about the car, bk. Most frustrating!
-
I am home earlier from choir rehearsal than usual because I passed on grocery shopping afterward. It's quite convenient; the market is quite close to the church.
-
In any case, I'm still going to bed.
-
I couldn't find Alan Jay Lerner's book, The Street Where I Live, on my Kindle. I knew it was in there somewhere.
-
Turns out to be user error: I was searching on "On the Street Where I Live," but that's not the title.
-
Good night, friends.
-
Finishing up Free Guy, which is not as good as it should have been. If Charlie Kaufman had rewritten the script and someone had nixed the idea of casting Taika Waititi, it could have been better.
-
I think I'm off to bed.
-
My allergies are still giving me grief.
-
I hope I can sleep.
-
Good night, all.

I'm watching and recording the Broadway production of Into the Woods from my laserdisc.

I'm now at "Last Midnight."

I still love it.

Gee, that must be nice to have.
It is. I do also have the DVD release, but it's fun to have the laserdisc, since it was fairly inexpensive.

So, is the quality better on the laser disc?
-
So, is the quality better on the laser disc?
I don't remember what the DVD looks like. I'll try and dig it out to compare, but the laserdisc looked really good for a standard def image on my hi-def TV.

So...I just came across this:

After I'd heard that Harry Connick, Jr. was going to be Daddy Warbucks, I wondered what he'd look like with his head shaved. And now, I know.
-
I hope he doesn't just croon through the role.
-
He's a good singer, but is he going to sound like he always does, or will he create a Daddy Warbucks character.
-
Wasn't late in renewing - it's auto pay and THEY took the money seven days before my new yearly period begins. If they can take the money early I think they could have bent their rules a bit, but no - so, they lost a long time member.
