Well, you've read the notes, the notes gained an hour, and now it is time for you to post until the gaining and hour cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PHILOCALIST!

Only for the nonce. ;) It's nice to missed.

Yesterday, I went to my mom's to help swap a couple of recliner chairs. The one in her TV room needed to be taken out and put in the garage, and the one that was in the garage needed to be brought in to replace it. We got that done, and then she decided to move a little bench out into the garage, so we did that, too.
-
Then, instead of just cooking me something to eat (the rest of the family had other plans, so it was just me today), she thought that it would be nice to actually go out to eat, so we went to one if the local Mayan Mexican Restaurants (https://www.mayanmexican.com/marvin-rd/). She insisted on paying as a thanks for helping with the chairs and the bench. We both ate too much of the chips and salsa before our meals came, so we had a lot of leftovers, which I took home.
-
Then after dinner, my mom wanted to go to the Red Wind Casino and play for a while. I told her that I made a lot in tips the night before (it turned out to be $75!), so I could play with that. When I lost all my money ::) my mom gave me some more to use. We were there for four hours! :o I did end up cashing in my ticket with $80 on it, but I did lose the money that my mom gave me, so I didn't actually break even, or make a profit.
-
But it was kind of fun, and my mom really enjoys going there. She and her friend Mona go every once in a while. Anyway, we left and I dropped her off at her house and came home. I started to read a new book on my Kindle and then promptly fell asleep for a few hours, and now I have finally woken up to go back to sleep again...again.
-
And that was my day yesterday. :)
-
Now, I'm going to ketchup on all of yesterday's posts before I go back to sleep.
-
Larry, that was a wonderful Amazon review for Eileen!
-
Glad you got your DVD, Singdaw!
-
Jane, I was thinking about asking if I could drive a comparable automatic to see what the rest of the car is like. I don't know when I'll have time to do that, though.
-
And that blue is the color of the car that's coming in. I didn't get to make any choices, only if I wanted them to hold what they're getting or not. And I really like that color, too.
-
~~~Vibes for Singdaw's Uncle and His Knee!!~~~
-
Jane, I don't know what the specific interior colors are...yet. It'll be the "Black Sport Cloth." The example on the website has a red exterior and red colors with the black:
(https://www.subaru.com/content/dam/subaru/vehicles/2022/IMP/vsp/dynamic-int-color/BSC.jpg.transform/x736/image.jpg)
So I would hope that it has blue to match the color I'll be getting.
-
But the red cloth and the blue exterior might make a nice combo. I'll find out soon enough.
-
Today, I have no plans except to make a DVD for my niece and to watch some shows recorded on my DVR. We'll see if anything else pops up. And now, I'm going to bed...again.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I have begun the laundry, and the cats are fed. They are happy, but I am not so happy at the moment.
-
Annabelle's feeling good and she and Stella are a but too frisky this morning. So far, Annabelle's leaping from table to dresser to filing cabinet has resulted in my cup of coffee splashed all over the table, and a cup containing pens, scissors, letter opener and other paraphernalia on top of the filing cabinet knocked over and spilled all over the floor.
-
Everything's in the dryers, the bed is made, and the kitty cleanup, including most of Annabelle's mess, is finished.
-
Sunday morning greetings! Richard has returned to the Dayton Church, but I’m not ready to venture back there.
-
DR Elmore, were you able to open the link I emailed to you?
-
Good morning.
-
Last night, TCB asked: How do you ruin fried rice?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=53me-ICi_f8
-
DR Elmore, were you able to open the link I emailed to you?
Sadly, no.
-
OK, I’ll try something else…
-
Got it! I always liked Hank. We was a trie mensch.
-
Got it! I always like Hank. We was a trie mensch.
I thought you’d want to know. Didn’t he sit at the table with us at that dinner at the Fitton Center?
-
Rehearsal vibes for MR BK & Co.
-
Vibes for the uncle of DR singdaw.
-
My new computer chair should arrive sometime this week.
My uncle's quarantine at the Rehab Center is up on Tuesday, so we will be able to make short visits.
-
Good morning, all.
-
There a couple of sort of funny skits on SNL last night.....
-
Got it! I always liked Hank. We was a trie mensch.
I thought you’d want to know. Didn’t he sit at the table with us at that dinner at the Fitton Center?
He did. It was the first time I'd seen him since 1972.
-
I made tacos for Sunday......I only used 1 lb. of ground beef so I will only have to eat them today and tomorrow....in theory.
-
I'm waiting on Amazon Fresh.
I was just sitting here thinking about how hungry I am, and tacos sound great. I'll be there in about an hour.
-
So, DR ChasSmith, how about that Fantasticks last night? (I hear you ask)
Worst ever. At least, of those I've seen live. A total fail. A few of the actors had potential to be pretty good in their roles. But there was no direction. And the music direction (notably, the piano playing by the music director) was completely inept. Shockingly so. It might even take the prize for being the worst realization of the score ever.
But as I said I would, I thoroughly enjoyed myself.
Sadly, this was foreshadowed at the diner beforehand. The cheeseburger deluxe was way overcooked, and they don't know from cole slaw -- I could only get through two bites of the glop, and it was a huge serving. However, the bacon on the burger, the fries, and the coffee were all great.
So, a mixed evening. But it was still great to be out and about.
-
No harp. As expected. Thankfully, no bass or drums either. (I do not like the "orchestrated" versions.)
But seriously, no harpist could have played with that person.
-
DR Singdaw at 80, I hope a way is found to help your uncle.
-
From DR TCB:
Taking that damn thing off the wall, is the main reason the clock does not work.
:D
-
Jane, I was thinking about asking if I could drive a comparable automatic to see what the rest of the car is like. I don't know when I'll have time to do that, though.
I really think you should make the time as buying a new car is a big decision.
-
And that blue is the color of the car that's coming in. I didn't get to make any choices, only if I wanted them to hold what they're getting or not. And I really like that color, too.
Most often, to be anyway, it comes down to either accepting the color option available or passing. Only once have I ever been able to pick the color ahead of getting the car.
-
So likely all black or black with the blue. Black & blue are pretty together.
-
But the red cloth and the blue exterior might make a nice combo. I'll find out soon enough.
I just guessed blue. It will be a fun surprise whatever it is :)
-
Sunday morning greetings! Richard has returned to the Dayton Church, but I’m not ready to venture back there.
I don't blame you.
I have had bad fried rice too many times.
Excellent.
-
DR ChasSmith, I was curious about last night's theatre experience, but I forgot, given the laundry and the Amazon delivery, to bring up the question.
-
I must now schedule two Access-a-Rides tomorrow. Let's hope I do better with these than last week's failure.
-
DR Laura did you find the video of Uncle Roger making proper fried rice?
-
Both trips tomorrow scheduled. Time for a lie-down with the kitties.
-
David Rosenfelt, author and dog rescuer, that I follow on Facebook put up a funny video this morning. A number of his dogs decided to wake him at 4:30 instead of 5:30 and boy are they vocal about it ;D
-
I think you have to be on FB to open this, not sure since he is a public figure.
https://www.facebook.com/davidrosenfelt/posts/430861501731648
-
I am positive he has more dogs than shown in the video. At the time he and his wife moved from California to Main they had 25 dogs, mostly seniors.
George, I talked to Jen York who directed CLUE, and she said most of the cast doesn't come out front because of Covid. Did anyone come out while you were there?
But ChasSmith, did they add mothers?? I've seen two different productions by the same director/music director where he added mothers and split the fathers' lines between them. :o
:P
I saw a couple people, but don't remember who. They weren't Deya, Dana, or Colonel Mustard (I forget his real name).
It made sense. I guess I just didn't think about it at the time.
Oh, well. There will be a next time. :)
I'm up, I'm up - nine hours of good sleep.
ADD mothers, so that there were four parents? Or change the fathers to mothers?
This was just the standard book, with only Tom Jones' latest script tweaks. If you saw it done that way in the past, it might not have been sanctioned. But Tom only recently completed his gender switch version, and as far as I know, its premiere performance just happened within the past month or two.
A Butt Too Frisky is the name of my next novel.
-
Or maybe Frisky Butt is a good stage name.
-
Glad you enjoyed The Fantastiks, ChasSmith.
-
In all its glory.
-
Arm is still sore.
-
I take lousy photos with my phone, but here's my attempt to get a photo of my framed Victor Herbert letter from Rob Berman's mother.
Both productions that I saw had four parents instead of just two dads. The director attempted another production and announced the addition of mothers without getting the rights and they were sent a cease and desist letter and had to fire the women and present it as written...as it should be! He didn't get permission for the two productions that I saw, but he didn't get caught with those.
That's so cool, Larry!
-
That's wonderful, Elmore.
-
Love the letter, DR elmore3003. Thanks for sharing the photo.
-
I've been running all weekend, but haven't crossed nearly enough items off my list. :P
-
What I would really like to do is make a vat of split pea soup.
-
But I forgot to buy the split peas.
-
So that would be kind of a challenge.
-
I don't particularly like going on and off Daylight Savings Time, but there's nothing to be done about it, I suppose.
-
All clocks are changed.....except the car clocks which I will do when I drive one or the other this week.
-
Very nice letter DR ELMORE!
-
Great letter, Elmore. Thanks for sharing.
-
But I forgot to buy the split peas.
But do you have the hambone?
-
You could use other beans or pasta, though the pasta ain't exactly diet friendly. Or diabetic friendly.
-
Let's move on ...
-
Four!
-
Need to get ready to usher. Chris Botti is performing tonight.
-
All I know is he plays trumpet.
-
Here's a sample.
-
Have fun, DR John G. I have heard of Chris Botti.
-
A lovely version of Nessun Dorma:
-
Beautiful letter, DR Elmore. What a great gift!
-
DR George, that director sounds like a piece of work.
-
Back from rehearsal - the music elements are entirely frustrating, but we're making do - we needed one entire rehearsal just for the songs - it's crazy, this one. So, we're convening at five to run as much as we can.
-
Good night, friends.
-
'night
-
Gratuitous Post #101!
-
DR George, that director sounds like a piece of work.
He is otherwise really good, and he's done a lot of good work, but for this one show, he somehow is stuck on the idea of "improving" it. ::)
-
I just watched the Criterion Blu-ray of Original Cast Album: Company.
-
I still love it!
-
The concert was great. A real surprise.
-
Chris Botti had a good stage presence and a great backup band.
-
He had several guest stars, as he called them. One was a jazz singer named Veronica Swift. I want to find out more about her.
-
He had a tenor who sang Nessun Dorma. And another singer who did a really good Embraceable You.
-
Here’s Swift, Botti and the band with one of my favorites from the show.
https://youtu.be/feqsPEVwKU4
-
We had almost a full house. And the audience was really into it.
-
Good night, all.
-
The concert was great. A real surprise.
Cool! I remember him being on Rosie O'Donnell's original talk show back in the '90s-early 2000s and he was great then.
-
Here’s Swift, Botti and the band with one of my favorites from the show.
https://youtu.be/feqsPEVwKU4
Wow! She's good!
-
I have had bad fried rice too many times.
I actually ended up ordering Chinese Food thru Uber Eats.
-
Page 4?? Still??
-
Well, complaining about it isn’t going to change anything.
-
I’ll get back to dinner news after we reach the next page.
-
George, I am glad you enjoyed your visit to the Red Wind.
-
Oh goody! Only one more post!
-
Page five
-
So, anyway, I just couldn’t cope with going out in the rain to eat alone.
-
So, since I had signed up for a free month of Uber something or other.
-
So , I skipped the Panda Express for now.
-
You know, that since Panda Express opened on South Hill, no one has seen a single panda roaming around.
-
And you thought them pussy cats were quick.
-
George, I am glad you enjoyed your visit to the Red Wind.
Thanks, Tom. With all that I spent, I don't plan on playing on any kind of regular basis. ::)
-
And you thought them pussy cats were quick.
:))
-
So, anyway, I just couldn’t cope with going out in the rain to eat alone.
I'll admit that that's never stopped me. ::)
;)
-
Tom, you've reached a millstone/milestone! Congrats! :D
-
Anyway, I found a spot that serves Breaded Almond Chicken with gravy.
-
It asked if I wanted white rice or fried rice.
-
I said I wanted either.
-
Because, next I went an ordered the House fried rice.
-
Then I went and loaded the order and the total came back $40.00!
-
Notes are written.
-
Written are notes.
-
So, I went back and removed the House fried rice, and then went back to the almond chicken and changed my order from “Neither” to “A side of fried rice, please.”
-
And then I placed my order.
-
Then I went and loaded the order and the total came back $40.00!
:o WTH??
-
What have they done with, “It Depends on What You Pay” and “The Rape Ballet?”
-
Or maybe Frisky Butt is a good stage name.
It would depend upon your act.
-
I take lousy photos with my phone, but here's my attempt to get a photo of my framed Victor Herbert letter from Rob Berman's mother.
Rob Berman’s mother wrote a letter to Victor Herbert?
-
I don't particularly like going on and off Daylight Savings Time, but there's nothing to be done about it, I suppose.
Well, Washington state, and I think 18 other states, have passed laws allowing us to stay on Daylight Savings Time all year. We are just waiting the approval by Congress.
-
Therefore, I don’t expect it to happen in my lifetime.
-
You could use other beans or pasta, though the pasta ain't exactly diet friendly. Or diabetic friendly.
Or would I cook the pasta for four hours.
-
Beautiful letter, DR Elmore. What a great gift!
It is indeed, DR elmore.
At the same time?
