I'm now waiting for my ride at 8:59, and Access-a-Ride just sent me a message that it will arrive in thirteen minutes.
Happy 20th Anniversary to Bruce and HainesHisWay.com!!! I'm happy and proud to be part of this site. The Broadway Radio Show made its first appearance on HainesHisWay on the first Sunday of December back in 2001; so, we're just about to hit our 20th Anniversary as well...over 700 episodes and still going strong!!! Thanks, Bruce, for having us!
So nice to see Ann check in. I hope you come back with an update on the kiddos, Ann!
I call this "Cat on a glass tabletop."

DR Jeanne, Access-a-Ride always warns you to all 30 minutes leeway, which can be difficult to impatient old coots like me. I have a ride scheduled this morning at 8:59 for pickup to the lab tests I missed yesterday. I think it will go fine this morning. Ther worst part - if they arrive on time, get you early to your appointment, and you finish up long before your return time - is the wait to be picked up.

20 years??? How can that possibly be??
Happy Hainesiversary, dear BK.
Now for my question: Has anyone ever heard of shooting a suspect in the foot? Or in his shooting hand?
Had a little miracle this morning, so that was excellent.

Happy Birthday to HHW, and thanks to bk, who makes it all happen!
Happy Anniversary, HHW!
I've been here for the past nine of those twenty years, and I'm sure lots of history had already gone by before I joined.
Not to mention, 9/11 had just happened when this started. That context alone is amazing to consider.

I had meant to comment on TCB's question, too.
I always thought that shooting to incapacitate, but not kill, was an option that was (or used to be?) practiced whenever possible. Then several years ago I read an article that explained how actually unrealistic that is. And how unsafe, should the danger turn out to be very real. The reasons given were that aiming for a limb is way the hell harder than you might think, and that any advantage given to someone waving a real gun around can be lethal. For these reasons, the writer (who was possibly in law enforcement, but I don't remember) concluded that shooting only to wound someone is a very popular myth among the populace. Cops are trained to shoot to where it will kill, period.

I think everyone should say how long they have been here.

I figured it was because if you shoot an armed person in an extremity that they will probably shoot back.
Well, I figure that if you can't be happy at Disneyland, you probably ought to feel crappy with a booster shot.

I don't feel crappy -- yet.
So, at 8:59 I was outside the building on the sidewalk, waiting for my ride. St 9:04 I called AAR and asked where the car was. They put me on hold for 14 minutes, then told me the car wasn't coming. They would call for another, which would take between 10 and 30 minutes or more before a car would arrive. I told them to cancel my trips abd took a taxi. What would have cost me $5.50 roundtrip cost me $20+! ! !
I rerally detest this fucking service for senior coitizens.
Last night I started reading A WOMAN OF NO IMPORTANCE, which is about Virginia Hall, an American who was a spy in WWII. Really interesting.
Thanks. We usually go in November because I attend a church conference in the L.A. area. But the venue canceled us this year (as well as last year), and we found out that the days we reserved for Disneyland have shorter hours than usual. One day, they are closing at 7 p.m. for a ticketed event. That's just too many lost hours for the money we are spending. So we decided to postpone it for a few months.
We got our boosters today, so we'll have one less thing to worry about when we do go. My daughter has the week off anyway, so at least she won't feel crappy at work.
I've finished the autobiography of "fat, Jewish lesbian actress" (her description) Miriam Margolyse (Aunt Pru on Miss Fisher's Mysteries), which was wonderful. I admired her honesty, politics, humor, and sharp observation very much.
We're glad you're back, too, Sing.

Greetings on a MONUMENTAL Anniversary!
LIfe has thrown me a few ball curves but I discovered that I like photography and especially stereoscopy.
It is so nice having scarce DRs drop in today!

Back from a fun and nice meal with Robert Yacko. Picked up almost a week's worth of mail - including a green envelope from the Writer's Guild with a little Faculty residual - that'll buy about three weeks of meals.
