Well, you've read the notes, the notes had one little miracle, and now it is time for you to post until the miraculous cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: MAFFICK!
-
BK, if the first film of Todd Haynes you were talking about was POISON, I warned you about several weeks ago that you wouldn’t like it.
-
Good morning.
-
So far just a sore arm.
-
Good morning, all!
-
Still no bad effects from the Covid booster, so I am quite relieved.
-
It was indeed nice to see the brief return of DRs Ann and DakotaCelt last night. Ann and Jed are still on my shit list for coming to NYTC and not making an effort to see any of the East Coast HHW folk during their stay.
-
DR slingshot, yes, you were on HHW before 2013. When you came to record that Victor Herbert song with Rebecca Luker in 2010, we talked then about your coming back to HHW.
-
We all owe BK a big thanks for introducing all of us at his 24/7 Big Partay! It's been a wild party, too boot - relationships and friendships have fallen apart in a few cases, some leave and then return, a few DRs have sadly perished, a few rowdier folk have pissed in the punchbowl and left, and presidents have come and gone - but the party continues. It's like Grand Hotel.
Thank you, BK!
-
I do not have to step out today, and I think that missing Access-A-Tide pressure let me sleep rather well last night.
-
This afternoon, I have a Zoom meeting with the colleagues I've chosen to be on this recording project with me. This is the first time several people are meeting each other, and I hope it goes well. The pessimist in me says this project will never happen, but 4-time Grammy winning producer Judy Sherman says we must proceed as if it will.
-
And so we will.
-
DR Jennifer, Everything about Access-A-Ride is not easy: phone calls can leave you waiting, as yesterday, for 14 minutes, they tell you to allow 30 minutes for problems, yet in two cases I've had drivers show up an hour or more later than they were supposed to. I think the MTA needs to overhaul the program, because it isn't working as it should.
-
You want to see a wonderful film?
-
Good morning, all.
-
Great movie, Elmore.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Today I must see about firing up the leaf blower and clearing the way to giving the grass its last mowing for the season. I could actually have accomplished that last week. But, you know.
-
Project vibes for DR Elmore!
-
Good morning!
-
Belated Anniversary wishes to HHW, BK and all the DRs!
-
Good morning, friends!
-
~~~SUPER-STRENGTH PROJECT LAUNCH/MEETING VIBES~~~ for DR elmore3003 and assembled team!!!!!!
-
Vibes for DR ELMORE & co.
-
More miracle vibes for MR BK.
-
Yesterday was opening day for college basketball - so I watched games from 6 pm. until after midnight.....it was most entertaining.
-
My question for ASK BK DAY is:
What is the BEST stand up routine you've ever seen in person?
-
BK, what are a couple of your favorite movie equivalents of comfort food?
-
Let’s move on …
-
Two!
-
Payday would usually have been tomorrow, but with holiday, I got my paycheck a day early. Yay!
-
Wednesday afternoon greetings! We're scheduled to pick up groceries between 2 and 3 this afternoon. I hope the street crew isn't blocking our driveway then...
-
So far just a sore arm.
Very good.
Hi Kevin.
Good luck with that.
-
This morning I received an email from a friend with a photo of something she found.
-
It was an invitation to my sixth birthday party. I guess it meant I was a special friend ;)
-
I am delighted to see the invitation. I certainly didn't keep a copy. I don't even have a photo from the party.
-
So far just a sore arm.
Very good.
Well, I'm starting to get a reaction. It's expected, so nothing worrisome.
~~~Super Recording Vibes for Larry!!~~~

Nice! Today is my payday, too, but it's normally on the 10th, so it's not early...which is fine with me. :)
-

That's pretty cool, Jane.
-
Vibes for Laura.
-
JB is at the vet. As am I, his chauffeur.
-
Anybody ever have valley lemons? They’re like Meyer lemons, but from the Rio Grande Valley. They’re orange. They’re also delicious. Just scored some.
-
That's so nice DR JANE!!!
-
I hope JB is enjoying his visit with the vet.
-
My new desk chair is OUT FOR DELIVERY!
-
UPS usually drives around in my neighborhood around 4 p.m. so perhaps I will go sit on the rocking chair on the front porch.

Smoking your pipe, resting your shotgun across your legs, with your old hound dog snoring next to your chair?
-
So far just a sore arm.
Very good.

Still, not fun but worth the peace of mind.

It shows our old phone number too which was eventually changed due to a crazy caller who kept bothering us.
-
JB is at the vet. As am I, his chauffeur.
Is he ok?
-
That's so nice DR JANE!!!
It is, especially that we are still friends after a lot of years of not knowing each other.
My friend moved away at the end of 4th grade and we never communicated again. The fact that I never knew what happened to her had a huge impact on me. As a result after our moves I would take the boys back to see their friends.
-
Years and years later we finally reconnected thanks to classmates.com.
-
Two months later we met in LA for lunch and ended up talking for hours.
-
My new desk chair is OUT FOR DELIVERY!
I hope you are very comfortable in your new desk chair.
-
UPS usually drives around in my neighborhood around 4 p.m. so perhaps I will go sit on the rocking chair on the front porch.
That sounds like a nice way to wait for a delivery.
-
He had a blood test. We’ll find out in a week or so.
-
I'm up, I'm up - just about eight hours of sleep.
-
BK, if the first film of Todd Haynes you were talking about was POISON, I warned you about several weeks ago that you wouldn’t like it.
I should have heeded your warning, but I was interested to see his beginnings.
-
My question for ASK BK DAY is:
What is the BEST stand up routine you've ever seen in person?
Maybe Shelly Berman back in 1961 or thereabouts, and certainly Jackie Mason, also back then. My big regret is never having seen Jack Benny in person.
-
BK, what are a couple of your favorite movie equivalents of comfort food?
The Court Jester, North by Northwest, The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad - stuff like that. And, of course, head of the list is The Music Man.
-
MAJOR VIBES TO JB!

Good stuff.
-
Valley lemons. They appear brighter than the photo.
-
The Zoom meeting went well, but there is much to work out. We want to propose a first round of three recordings for 2022-23, and if that goes well, then plan a second round of three.
I still fear it will all fall apart.
-
Valley lemons. They appear brighter than the photo.
They are pretty.
-
Heavy rains beginning in an hour are expected.
-
We have a flood watch from Thursday afternoon through Friday.
-
It was an invitation to my sixth birthday party. I guess it meant I was a special friend ;)
That's pretty cool, Jane.
It shows our old phone number too which was eventually changed due to a crazy caller who kept bothering us.
Yikes!
-
Two months later we met in LA for lunch and ended up talking for hours.
Nice!

Nice!
She lives in Israel and visits the periodically. We have been up in California, Washington, and Chicago.
-
Next time I hope to see her in Israel.
-
Good evening.
-
I took a nap, and now I have to do a zoom thing. I'm not feeling it today.
-
It sounds like you might still be a bit fatigued from the vaccination. I hope you are only not feeling the Zoom thing and otherwise feel ok.
-
I finished reading The Lincoln Highway today. I wish I had read it for my book discussion group as I think it would make for a good discussion.
-
Had some pasta with red sauce and Eyetalian sausage - very good.
-
So, tomorrow will probably be a sausage and peppers sandwich day.
-
'night
-
I like the lemons. Which I'd never heard of.
-
What did you think of the end, Jane?
-
Also, I now haz the ingredients to make split pea soup.
-
The light here was weird today. No direct sun, but certainly an Autumnal haze.
-
I like the lemons. Which I'd never heard of.
The juice is less tart, but no less flavorful.
-
DR John G. - I think you would really enjoy reading this book. It's pretty pricey, but perhaps the library will get a copy. It's not so much a cookbook, although it has recipes, as a food almanac as viewed over the years the NY Times has been in publication.
-
And with that - good night, friends.
-
Well, perhaps one more.
-
FOUR!!!!
-
Thanks for the recommendation, Singdaw. Apparently, Amanda Hesser applied to work at the Sarasota Herald-Tribune while I worked there. The pearls she wore to the interview probably cost more than my annual salary then.
-
I didn’t meet her.
-
Finished with my viewing and why the HELL are we just starting page FOUR at this time of night?
-
Why?
-
Why again?
-
New releases are live for those who'd like to get a jump on them. Of course, no one is here reading this, so there's that.
-
You want to see a wonderful film?
Okay, which one of the kids was thrilled by this film?
-
It was an invitation to my sixth birthday party. I guess it meant I was a special friend ;)
That's pretty cool, Jane.
It shows our old phone number too which was eventually changed due to a crazy caller who kept bothering us.
I thought that was Bruce.
-
BK, what are a couple of your favorite movie equivalents of comfort food?
The Court Jester, North by Northwest, The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad - stuff like that. And, of course, head of the list is The Music Man.
Bruce, do you have any interest in going to see Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster in THE MUSIC MAN?
-
Valley lemons. They appear brighter than the photo.
I thought they were orange?
-
This is crazy!
-
Last night we had 157 posts.
-
This time barely 100.
-
I am afraid I am not thinking.
-
Even less than normal
-
I watched the first half of a bio pic on Peter Allen. It is called PETER ALLEN: NOT THE BOY NEXT DOOR.
-
So far, it is very enjoyable.
-
A lot of the first half covers his childhood, focusing on his father’s alcoholism.
-
The first half ended when Liza caught him in bed with another guy.
-
I couldn’t tell if the guy was supposed to be Judy’s husband, Mark Herron.
-
I may wait a few days before I tackle the second half.
-
That covers his big successes, but also his death from AIDS.
-
The young man playing Peter is very good.
-
That is my positive
book movie report.
-
On the other end of the spectrum……
-
I watched, for the very first time, PETE’S DRAGON.
-
Who green lighted that turkey?
-
I realize it was supposed to be a children’s picture.
-
But pleazzz. Children have taste, too.
-
P a g e f i v e
-
And in a kid’s movie, who doesn’t like a 15 minute drunk scene between Red Buttons and Mickey Rooney?
-
And that score?
-
Was it always released by Disney?
-
And that score!
-
And then there is the animated dragon. I wish there had been a different way to show the dragon.
-
Once again, George is absent. What will tonight's excuse be?
-
Well, I have beaten that dead
horse dragon far too long.
-
Yes, TCB. I'd love to see Hugh and Sutton in The Music Man.
-
That would be fun.
-
And how about that score?
-
And where is George. This is twice in just a few days and that's most unseemly.
-
Is he off playing Phase 56 or something - or did he fall asleep?
-
I love the score of The Music Man.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
Guess we have to do this as a duo rather than a trio.
-
Why I oughta...
-
Yes, TCB. I'd love to see Hugh and Sutton in The Music Man.
Me too! Maybe we need a New York get together?
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I'm up for a NY extravaganza. Tickets, however, are VERY expensive. Have to figure out if I know anyone involved.
-
So,wq we are closing today?
