Well, you've read the notes, the notes ticked twice, and now it is time for you to post until the ticking cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: HOMINID!
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Good morning, all!
-
Good morning, all.

Putting on my suit and heading out.
I shall return sometime this afternoon.

Shoving some Chanukah West Side Story at you.

Has anyone read Charles Portis, who wrote True Grit?
-
I wish I had taken today off.
-
TOD:
Do you know how Cindy Williams tour plan was booked? It seems to be coming to Texas yet nowhere northeast or west.
-
Good morning, all.

Following a pretty solid sleep, which is a rare enough animal these days, I ended the night with a dream that found me waking up to the sight of a few people arriving for - something (maybe Thanksgiving, but maybe not), and those few soon multiplied into a couple of hundred. As I got up and walked among them, I passed this hideous chrome-plated baby grand piano that Nathan or someone had decided to actually purchase, and then I remembered I was substituting this morning at a church in a nearby town -- and doesn't that service begin at 10:30, and am I not even prepared with music, and wait, isn't it past 10:30 now or please God maybe it's actually 11:30 that it begins? So I decided not to shower (ew) and just throw on clothes and get my ass down there, but as so often happens in dreams, the walking or the driving just doesn't quite work, and it's a blessing when you waken and realize that the impossible doesn't, in fact, have to be accomplished. And that was my dream. The End.
-
So it is Thanksgiving Eve Morning. We had a pretty good run last night (final dress rehearsal, hard to believe), and we're not back there till Friday night in front of an audience.
-
Thank you, DR Elmore, for the beautiful Thanksgiving greeting this morning!
-
Has anyone read Charles Portis, who wrote True Grit?
I've only read True Grit, back when the Coen Bros. film was being released. I'd been told that he was a wonderful writer, and to at least start with that one. I loved it, but have never yet checked into others.
-
The group doing that Chanukah West Side Story is excellent, and I watched a couple of their other videos. They do so well at capturing the essence of a musical score, right down to the trickiest harmonies and voicings.
-
So yesterday, the cranberry sauce got made and is chilling for two days. Big deal, of course, as it takes about five minutes of actual "work" to make cranberry sauce. It amazes me, in an amazing way, that so many people won't hear of it.
Today, the prep for the stuffing - mainly, getting the sage sausage cooked so that doesn't take up time and stovetop space tomorrow. I suppose I could also cut up the potatoes (for the mashed) and soak them in water overnight. In fact, isn't that actually recommended, for better starch removal or something? Am I confusing this with something else? Must look it up.
Anyway, those are my three standard duties, and if nothing else in life is in control, at least those will be.
-
If I'm not mistaken, the vix clan is together, or is about to be together, on the Lawn Guyland right about now?
-
I'm going to end here for a while. Might as well get that sausage aroma wafting through the house, and enjoy another cup of coffee while so doing.
Best VIBES for DR Jrand71 and his family event today.
And best VIBES of all sorts for DR Elmore this week.
And best VIBES for all the rest of us. We all needs 'em for all the reasons. So let's have 'em.

I logged on around 7:13, posted at 7:24, and mny computer went dead at 7:158 in thge middle of a longish post. My computer has been losing WiFi often for periods of around 15 minutes, so I waited, it came on for a minute and dowloaded some emails, before it died again. I thought I should call Spectrum, and I found my phone was dead. So . . . I called Spectrum on mny cell phone and learned there were no outages in my area.
-
An automated voice, when I told the Spectrum "voice" my servic,e was dead, told me to plug my modem and reboot it. It was 9:00 and I had to leave for my pharmacy since I had to be home before Amazon Fresh delivered groceries around 11.
-
The trips went smoothly, although my damned doctor never responded to my request for several prescriptions, and when I got home, I rebouted the modem and here I am. Color me angst-ridden and rather pissed off.

An actor touring in Jesus Christ Superstar has been arrested as part of the Oath Keepers storming the capitol on Jan. 6. Must be non-Equity.
-
Actually, he appeared on Broadway in Kinky Boots, Aida and Ragtime as James T. Justis. This won’t help his career.
-
I try not to be such a bitch, but some people bring it out of me.
-
Some people do, indeed, reap what they sow.
-
TWO!!
-
Woohoo!
-
Amazon Fresh has arrived, and the cats have six cartons to play in. I wish they would take them to the basement for me.
-
Good morning.
-
I have no idea if half the family is coming. My son doesn't know his schedule yet. Can you believe that?
-
I'm cooking anyway.
-
Today so far I have made: potato salad (my DIL's request), mashed potatoes, cornbread for the stuffing, and the vanilla wafer crust for a cheesecake. I'm waiting for the cream cheese to warm up a bit.
-
I just put my life in my hands again to schedule Access-A-Ride for Friday morning's MRI. The opnly good thing I can say about them at the moment is their phone staff is quite wonderful. I wish the service were as well.
-
I loved Rent, which I saw twice with nearly all the original cast - I missed Adam Pascal both times - and saw it later in hte run with replacements. I cannot remember if I saw it 4 or 54 times, and I played the CD to death when it was first released. I went to it the first time, prepared to hate, and it caught me yp and moved me to tears. I am really looking forward to seeing Tick, Tick . . . Boom.

I’d like to see you try.
-
DR John, thank you for the photo. I like your wooden train set.
-
Rent was more of a cerebral appreciation than something that touched my heart. I think I was more taken with Larsen’s story.
-
From George:
It was nice...short, but sweet.
Is your mother making any plans to visit her brother?
-
I have metal toy trains around the room, too.
-
Work is exhausting today. It shouldn’t be, but it is.
-
Just listened to A Broadway Christmas. Great stuff. Every song.
-

I don't think so. We haven't talked about it, though.
-
DR TCB it was Keith who steered me in the opposite direction of Voodoo Donuts ;D It would have been a few blocks out of our way, and then you never know how long the line will be. Plus I really did not need to eat a donut.
Keith would not drive to Portland for donuts.
-

That's pretty much how I felt. I'm sorry I didn't go to see Rent in NYC because it might have grabbed me a little more than subsequent attempts have. I've also kicked myself because friend Robin de Jesus was in it late in the run, and that was his start on Broadway. He's got a great part in Tick Tick, though, which is very gratifying to see.
-
Has anyone read Charles Portis, who wrote True Grit?
I read Tru Grit but nothing else by him.
-
I have no idea if half the family is coming. My son doesn't know his schedule yet. Can you believe that?
Incredible, isn't it? I know a few people who fit right in to that scenario.
Meanwhile, I am here to tell you that as of noon today, the grocery stores are officially mobbed. Please don't ask me how I know that.
(I only wanted three little things, only one of which had anything to do with Thanksgiving.)
-
I have no idea if half the family is coming. My son doesn't know his schedule yet. Can you believe that?
I can but it is rude. If your son is working won't his wife and your grandson still go to your home for Thanksgiving?
-
I have metal toy trains around the room, too.
Feel free to photograph those as well.

I wasn't paying attention when the needle for the contrast iv was put in my vein this morning before my MRI. They also took some blood for a Creatinine test. I only know because I received an email the results were available to read. I can't believe I didn't notice-lol
-
MRI's have greatly improved since my first one when DR Penny accompanied me to the NIH. I was really glad to have her there while I vented how horrible it was.
Back then it took about an hour, without being able to move, and everything about the table was uncomfortable. I had no sense of time as the person doing it never spoke to me. My body was in a lot of pain during and after the test.
Today it took only 20 minutes on a fairly comfortable table. Only the last 5 minutes were a slight problem and that was only due to my bad shoulder. The rest of me was fine not moving.
-
;)
-
DR Jrand I hope you found comfort at the service today :(

There are more. But I didn’t spy them with my little eye.

The Arbery verdict is bittersweet. Sad that he died in the first place.

Really nice :)

Two
Another good one.

And three
I like how you coordinated with the candy cane :)

There are more. But I didn’t spy them with my little eye.
I wish when we had a Christmas tree I had a collection of trains to put on the tree.
-
I miss having a tree.

Yes to both comments.
-
I love MyChart. I already have the results back from my MRI.

Wonderful news, DR Jane.

Nice trains, DR John G.

Thanks. I am more concerned about Friday's test and hope the results are equally as good.

My mother always made cranberry sauce. Not liking it I have never made it.

Wonderful!
Oh. Wait a minute. That's all true.
-
I'm up, I'm up - seven hours of sleep. Was up after five and went back to bed - still not enough.
-
The flowers are heavily in bloom. Back yard feels nice.
-
Up from a nap. Need to get ready for dinner.

Stella destroyed the book I was reading. At the moment I am quite angry. I'd return her to theNew York City Animal
Concentration Camp Care Center but '''i'm afraid they would kill her.
I was really loving this book.
-
Good evening!
-
It is a quiet night.
-
I am going to go read.
-
I am struggling with the book for my group discussion on Monday.
-
We are reading "A Sudden Country" by Karen Fisher.
-
Normally I get an hour of reading done every day when I am on the treadmill at the gym. So even if I am not in love with the book it is keeping me distracted from my exercise and focused on what I am reading.
-
Of course I missed the gym today and will do so the next two days.
-
Had In 'N' Out for food and picked up a couple of packages. Fell asleep for a bit, now watching The Wind Rises.

Wednesday evening greetings! Our visit to the burn clinic was the first of what I’m afraid will be many. The nurse practitioner said Richard’s burn is THIRD degree and may require skin graft surgery. She will be able to tell us more when we return next Thursday. And I’m channeling my inner Cherry Ames for the nursing skills I’ll need between now and then.
-
Oh, I'm so sorry, DR Ginny. That sounds really grim.

Take insulin first...

Oh, I'm so sorry, DR Ginny. That sounds really grim.
Thanks, DR Singdaw. I’m hoping Erin was laying out a worst-case scenario that may not develop.

Cleaning, medicating, and dressing the affected area. It has to be done twice a day, about 12 hours apart. And it involves a topical salve that I may or may not be allergic to. Nurse Theresa told me to wear gloves and allowed me to shoot video as she performed the various steps.

Taking a video was very clever. If you suspect you are allergic to it I suggest wearing a mask as not to breath the "fumes".

Are you going to see DS Rob over the holiday?
-
Oh my, Ginny. Hugs to you and Richard. My son had a second degree burn, and I had to clean it and put on salve. Luckily they will be keeping a very close eye on it so it won't get infected.

No, they’re with the other grandparents in Michigan. Our intention is to be with them for Christmas, but we’ll see…

I sure wish a paramedic still lived upstairs…
-
Good night, friends.
-
As Singdaw said, grim news, Ginny. I hope a skin graft won't be necessary.
-
Back from dinner with friends. Another nice Thanksgiving Eve.
-
We went to an extravagant steakhouse. The food was excellent, but the noise level was somewhat irritating.
-
They lowered the volume of the technopop near our table, but the full house was also loud.
-
We did see a couple at the table next to us become engaged. He got out of his chair, walked around the table, dropped on one knee and showed her the ring. She accepted and the whole room applauded.
-
It was very sweet.
-
The most dramatic dish I had tonight was a red and golden beet salad with pistachios, orange sections, strawberries and arugula. The plate had been painted with a beet red brush.
I thought my friend Pam said it looked like it had squid marks on it.
I had no idea what squid marks were.
-
She said skid.
-
Starting to watch the movie, Just a Gigolo, which is quite dreadful. David Hemmings directs and he has no flair whatsoever for comedy. Kim Novak and Marlene Dietrich are supposed to show up. I can hardly wait.
-
Good night, all.
-
I sure wish a paramedic still lived upstairs…
That is what I was thinking, or at least closer to home. Did you send him a photo?

My thoughts were with you today, Jrand.

So it is Thanksgiving Eve Morning. We had a pretty good run last night (final dress rehearsal, hard to believe), and we're not back there till Friday night in front of an audience.
I have never figured out the best way to handle the opening the day after Thanksgiving.

So it is Thanksgiving Eve Morning. We had a pretty good run last night (final dress rehearsal, hard to believe), and we're not back there till Friday night in front of an audience.
I have been involved with all the different options. Actually, I think the best option (for me anyway) was having a speed-thru or a full run-thru on early afternoon on Friday.
-

Laura, have you considered sending your grandson’s photo to some talent agencies? He is very photogenic.

I think I've only been in one production (but I don't remember which show) where we had a night off before opening. I didn't really like that, but it wasn't my idea or decision. We did meet a little earlier on opening night and speed through, also. That certainly helped.

I didn’t mean you should drive over to Portland just for donuts. However, if you were going over for a meal, to catch up with friends, or perhaps shopping (tax free) you could swing by Voodoo, and see if there is a crowd.
