The renter told my brother at about 10 p.m. last night that he would leave the keys in the mailbox of my uncle's house.....

I'm sure he now plans to disappear into the night still owing $475 in rent and AT LEAST a $69.90 sewer bill.....and who knows what else.

So my sister and I will pick up the keys this morning and see what the house looks like.

Then we can get appraisals on both houses.  We still have one annuity to convert to cash.  AND the insurance has still never paid the funeral bill....and we are still waiting for checks so that we can pay the few bills that are now due.

This morning's dream is trying to creep back into my vision.

Probably another on a familiar theme, but a somewhat strange one. There's something different about it that I'd like to know about.
Title: Re: RAINY DAY
Post by: ChasSmith on December 15, 2021, 06:40:45 AM
This morning's repast is a bagel -- one half toasted with butter, the other half toasted with cream cheese, with everything seasoning sprinkled on both.

I like it both ways, but the cream cheese half is much more satisfying today. But I was using up the last of what was open and didn't want to open up another VALUABLE box of it.'

Oh, and coffee. Of which I'm about to have a second cup.
Title: Re: RAINY DAY
Post by: ChasSmith on December 15, 2021, 06:44:08 AM
Did I ever say the errant package arrived yesterday?

Yes, I did.

Everything communicated to me by FedEx and the USPS was wrong. Just completely erroneous updates and information. I'm just so happy that it was in the neighbor's mailbox and not some other place out there in the big bad universe.
Title: Re: RAINY DAY

I must go out into the world again today to make my rounds of the local establishments.

And I am home! The procedure is over. I have 4 or 5 small dots tattooed to my lower pelvis to guide the radiation. My neighbor Ann treated me to a Lyft (?) ride at 6:45, I was undressed and ready to go by 7:45, and I was dressed and waiting for Access-a-Ride by 8:30. I called to see if I could get an earlier pickup than 9:36 and I could not. I sat in the waiting room and read my book. Around 9:40 a nice driver named Jose showed up and brought me home.

As soon as I got home, I cleaned the cat's dishes and set them in the sink to soak. Then I made a cup of coffee and had a bagel with cream cheese, took my meds, made the bed, washed the cats' dishes, and returned Joshie's call. I'm going to lie down with three cats, rest my legs, and maybe nap. I slept quite poorly last night.

I haven't looked at them, so I don't know. If I go in for the radiation and the personnel spend the time playing Tic-tac-toe on my belly, I will not be amused.

Are you celebrating later, ChasSmith?

Yes, just a quiet one at home, which is always my preference.

In the before times, we'd always go out for dinner.
These days it's takeout - and for my birthday, it's Chinese.

We don't have anything around it yet, but here's the ca-1962 aluminum tree with its similar vintage tree turner, and a modern color wheel because the vintage one is missing a part. Ornaments are just the very lightweight reflective bulbs, a few of which are of similar age. Better ones in a few days, including video of it turning, etc.

Picked up errant and truant screeners, so that's good - had a chicken Caesar salad for food, so that's good. Did a little writing, so that's good. Trying my damndest to watch the new Dune - can't say that's good. So much exposition, so much mumbling, so many characters - I had the same issue with the older version, which I hated, and I'm sure I wouldn't like the book either.

Add me to the list of "Oh, NO!"s when we read DR Laura's roof news.

Vibes they figure out the problem and FIX IT PROPERLY!

The handyman was here the other day, fixing my roof (and other things). We had a lot of rain yesterday and so far so good.

A lot of sound and fury in this Macbeth, and I'm not sure it signified anything. But Sher was worth watching. YouTube has a full production of The Winter's Tale with him. I love that play, so I may watch it, if I ever get three hours.

Hi, John G.
Yes, this particular leak has been off and on for the entire ten years I've lived here and there was a bad patch on the kitchen ceiling when I moved in to document its history. The handyman did this fix, rather than a roofer, and the handyman is very good. He commented that the roof is very old. I have difficulty understanding the management's complacency.

John G, your balmy dinner last night sounded delightful. I pulled out my boots, wool socks, and one of my winter coats! A low of 39 degrees here last night.

There is a potentiality ;o)  of severe weather here.  Perhaps my phone will alert me in the night if I need to take shelter.  I hope it would.

Even Keith needed the subtitles for this.  Otherwise we liked the story, but then I liked the book.

Our would be off for the night.  Vibes you are safe and don't have an alert.

For the past few days, I have had spells of vertigo. I called my doctor this morning and just had a message from her while I was soaking. That call came in at 9:45 pm. She was reassuring, but she suggested I come in on Friday.

My sister liked all the books written by Frank Herbert, but not really any of the books written by his son and/or others.

I did read some Isaac Asimov when I was in high school and college, but I think I moved on to Stephen King and then some other genres and kind of stopped reading for pleasure for a while.
