Title: I RAISE

Well, you've read the notes, you've raised the notes, the notes have called you, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home, which will be as soon as one of them hits a royal flush.

TOD- I like plays by Tom Stoppard. I find them stimulating and intellectually challenging.

George-I went to every taping of Whose Line Is It Anyway, and have seen those guys live in Improv Allstars at least 6 times. There are entire sites devoted to what actually went on at the tapings which you would not believe! The entire season would be taped over 3 long weekends, each taping at least 6 hours, 3 of which would be cut. I had the chance to do "sound effects" with Ryan and Colin.

Ryan doesn't usually appear outside of the state of Washington, so you were lucky to see him. Did they end the show with Mousetrap?

I truly adore Jean Anouilh, especially Becket and Waltz of the Toreadors.

Easy for me:

Foreign playwrites; Tenessee Williams, Arthur Miller, Tom Stoppard, and Alan Bennett have all written great plays which I admire. Terrence Rattigan and Noel Coward's plays have much to admire too.

Ibsen, Chekhov, Molnar and Moliere's plays might be regarded as more "foreign" though.

As for the plays themselves - it's early so I'll leave those to the DR's when they wake.

That's so cool!!  Last night's shows (two very different performances) were so funny!  When I was leaving, someone told me that the guys are coming back in January!!  Even though I had to stand from about 5:00 p.m. until about 11:15 (okay, I did get to sit down for about 45 minutes of the second show...but still ;)), it was worth it.  They really have such quick wits.  They come up with the funniest stuff in (literally) just no time at all (a Pippin reference)!

Well, I must go to sleep, now...no, I really must!  After standing almost six hours, I'm plum tuckered out.   And I want to go to work in the morning so that I don't have to use up the vacation that I'm going to need for BK's Portland visit!  So, good night, all.

Glad you enjoyed the shows, George. They really are so talented and witty.

It's a night.

BK, a couple of quick questions to clarify the Trivia Contest:

Are the two plays non-musicals?
And are the two plays original productions or are either of the productions a revival?

If you feel that you're able to answer these two questions, thank you.  If you feel that it might be giving away too much to even answer them, then that'll be a clew, too! ;) (I hope :-\)

My Mom played her birthday in the lottery tonight - 603.  Well, guess what came up?

Actually, 306 came up, but she played the combinations, so...

She played it both "straight" and in "any order", so she won twice.  And about $600 too!

As for plays and playwrights...

Well, since I've been up for almost 22 hours now...

Racine, Moliere, Ionesco
Shakespeare, Osborne, Sellars, Orton
Turgenev, Ibsen, Chekhov

Well, since I've been up for almost 22 hours...

Til anon...

Goodnight.

I think my dear father, TCB, will agree with me that all your vibes worked and our opening performance was indeed a success.  Took the audience a little while to wake up, but that was probably as much us as them.  Once things really got rolling, they were wonderfully responsive and seemed to greatly enjoy themselves.  Of course, they missed the most entertaining part of the evening, when our Dolly's slip fell to her feet standing in the wings during Act II, while chatting with TCB and myself.  A bit of cake and champagne while schmoozing audience members in the lobby after the show, then I joined some non-actor members of the theatre for a drink afterwards.  Good times had by all.

CANASTA come out and play?  Good morning, all!  Another day with BABES IN TOYLAND and an evening with Jerome Moross!

DRJose, the hotel is booked:  June 29, 30, July 1 are my days at the Library.  Tom Murray and I will arrive Wed morning and return Friday evening.  We had to move dates since the Capitol Hill Suites were filled Monday and tuesday.

Favorite foreign playwrights:
FRENCH: Georges Feydeau, Jean Anouilh, Jean Giraudoux, Moliere
BRITISH/IRISH: Joe Orton, Oscar Wilde, Noel Coward, Sheridan, Shakespeare, and too many others
GERMAN:  Brecht, even if he is a plagiarist and thief taking credit for many things his lady friends actually wrote, Peter Weiss who's actually Swiss, Durrenmatt
   RUSSIAN: Chekhov
ITALIAN:  Carlo Gozzi, Carlo Goldoni, Eduardo de Filippo

Much as I admire A DOLL'S HOUSE and HEDDA GABLER, I wouldn't claim Ibsen as a favorite since I loathe most of his plays; I feel much the same about Strindberg.  I'm still out on Marivaux!

DR Jrand, yes,I watched 8 Women before and liked it,too, and also Catherine Deneuve still was beautiful and elegant in it. I read an article about the film in which the director said he had to take(shoot) all of 8 actresses in (at?) every their own best angle EVENLY and that was the heardest thing in shooting/filming the film. Can imagine it. ;D

As for a logo, I don’t think Bruce Kimmel’s Kritzerland seems too egotistical and I like it because the Kritzerland is YOUR land, dear BK.  However, I prefer just Kritzerland. I feel it, as a logo, is more sofisticated and stylish than with your name.  And I assume that the Kritzerland logo without your name will be soon recognized as YOUR land (record label) by people as you think. If you’d strongly like to share the Kritzerland with everyone and to make the Kritzerland be everyone’s, it’s better to be the one without your name, I think.
Hope you understand what I'd like to say... :-[

As for the Kritzerland logo...

Like DR Hisaka, I prefer just "Kritzerland".

Now depending upon the actual design of the site and logo, maybe it could be set up where, in smaller print, something like:

"Bruce Kimmel presents..."
"...Brought to you by Bruce Kimmel"
"A Bruce Kimmel production"
"A Bruce Kimmel creation"

-I'm envisioning something looking like a "classic" TV or movie logo.  Very retro-cool.

This way you could have the option of dropping the lead in or lead out line from the logo - if "Kritzerland" is set up as it's own logo/font/style.  *And is your designer also envisioning some sort of setting of the "K" of "Kritzerland" as a "button"?  Like a "K" on a spinning 45rpm, etc.

Will you also be referencing your Benjamin Kritzer books on the site?  Are they part of the whole concept/label?  For me, that would be the ultimate deciding factor.  If so, then "Bruce Kimmel's Kritzerland" has a slight sense of redundancy to it.

Does Guy Haines have any thoughts on the matter?

Trivia: As stated, the two shows in question are plays, not musicals.  They are not revivals.

Kritzerland: No the Kritzer books will not be part of the label site.  I'm beginning to think I'll drop the possessary and just hope people know what the deal is.

Sorry I wasn't able to check back in last night, but it was after 2 a.m. when I staggered into my house, and I was simply exhausted. Couldn't wait to get to bed.

Why were we so late? No LA CAGE doesn't run THAT long, but the majority of the cast went to a restaurant after the show, and it took them FOREVER to bring our checks after we ate. I had eaten mid-afternoon, so all I had was a big ice cream dessert - huge and probably the most ice cream I've ever had in a single serving. But I ate it all since Friday is usually my "ice cream day" on my diet, and I didn't have any after I ate my meal in the afternoon.

OK.

Do you think that you'll be getting a lot of "blind hits" to the site?  I sense that anyone going to the site will be looking for recordings, and would more than likely have a passing acquaintance with you and Guy Haines.

Maybe you'll be Google-Whacked!
Title: Re:I RAISE
Post by: bk on June 04, 2005, 07:54:11 AM
I'll just say briefly that I listened to Light in the Piazza, based on all the "ravishing" raves I've read (does everyone who is raving have to use the word "ravishing" - aping what Frank Rich says in the booklet).   I thought the Overture was very nice - it gave me hope.  Sadly, those hopes were then dashed and ultimately the album gave me a headache for several reasons.  Mr. Guettel does try to give us a song every now and then.  But there is something in him that will not allow himself to just do that - he always has to go somewhere strange, and I find it off-putting.  He's also veering into late-Sondheim land more than I would have thought, not to mention Ravel-land and Rota-land.  It's almost as if the orchestrations were the point of the score - the textures and colors.  Nothing wrong with that - one of my favorite composers, Claus Ogerman, is all about that.  Except this isn't orchestral music, this is theater music.  When track eleven came on as I was driving home last night, I thought, STOP IT!  The actors are all very good, although they are allowed to sing as if they were playing the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion or an opera house.  Recordings require a different energy - not one that changes the performance or intent, but one that dynamically doesn't smack you between the eyes.  If one were performing these songs in a film or on TV, one would have to adjust their theater energy without losing the performance or intent.  It's subtle, but you have to do it.

Not the worst thing I've ever heard, and there are bars here and there that are pleasing, melodically, but it's a one-time listen for me.

I did lose a couple of annoying hands last night, but only because I couldn't keep the "rules" straight for some of the wackier games.  I really just like normal poker - I don't even like Texas Hold 'Em, which seems to be the only game people want to play because that's what they play on TV.  We didn't play it once last night, I'm happy to say.  All these supposed poker "fans" who really know nothing at all but what they see on TV - get outta town.

I'd have to say Ibsen's HEDDA GABBLER is my favorite foreign play, but I do like BECKET a lot. I know British playwrights are foreigners to us Americans, but I guess I just think of British and American plays as occupying the same place in my mind. I just don't think of them as foreign so Stoppard or Pinter aren't included.

I do look forward to listening to LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA when it finally arrives, but I ordered it with some pre-ordered DVDs that aren't being released until next week, so I don't have it yet. Since it's not one of the shows I'll be seeing in August (I'd have loved to have seen it, but I wasn't going to risk a repeat of what happened with ASSASSINS last year), I'll listen to it as soon as I can.

I agree with DRs Jose and Hisaka, I think I prefer Kritzerland by itself.  However is there some reason why you can't have your name featured somewhere on the front page.  I definitely think that you should do this.  Also, not sure what the logo will be, but if you have some cds pictured on the front page, then I think everyone will know what the site is about.

Dear DRs all, I have an announcement to make!

I am returning to the world of the working shlub!!!

[move=left,scroll,6,transparent,100%] :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o[/move]

The grocery store just down the street from where der B and I live was holding a job fair, so I went in, filled out an application, got interviewed, and then went in again today to finalize the paperwork.  I'll be working as a cashier, so I get to play with money and lasers and bar codes and plastic or paper!  I even get to pay dues to a union!

(Well, that gets a  :-\ but it's part of the job.)

It may be just for the summer, when the store does the biggest business (tourists, of course).  But even so, the pay will be pretty good, and I could get picked up for post-season.

DR HISAKA - glad you liked 8 WOMEN.  I did, too! And I learned about it here on HHW!

DR RODZINSKI - I found a download of the Lightfoot song online, so I am attempting that.  If all else fails - I will buy the CD, if available.  Surely it is.

I ordered the THUNDER ALLEY/FIREBALL 500 DVD yesterday.  It is being released (Finally) on Tuesday.

HMmmmmmmmmmm...

Hedda Gabbler, certainly.  Waltz of the Toreadors, yes.  The Importance of Being Earnest, definitely.

But my favorite play by a foreign playwright is THE PLAYBOY OF THE WESTERN WORLD....it is hilarious and touching and so IRISH!

I was so happy to read that ANNIE GET YOUR GUN opened so well. It's always a great relief to get that opening performance out of the way.

Our audience last night was not as bright and sharp as Thursday night's crowd. Certainly they laughed at all the silly, low comedy antics, but some of the wittier lines brought no response whereas the night before they had generated hearty laughs.

As I recall, the first Friday night audience for NUNCRACKERS (at this same theater) had a similar "dim" audience but the following Friday night crowd was booisterous and responded to everything. It'll be interesting to see if next Friday's audience is similarly enthusiastic.

While having breakfast with my mom this morning I learned that when my brother was in Iraq this last time his 3 car convoy came under attack by insurgents, and they actually had a shoot out...my brother and the other guy in his car did not have guns, so they had to hide under the car while others shot it out and waited for back-up.

Rather scary news that my brother did not tell us about while he was over there.

I think that scared him enough that he will not offer to go back there again (he works for the Federal govt.).

As noted earlier, yesterday was another grandladsitting day.  Most of the day was spent with William, who has just turned five, and also spent going from store to store, with William in the back in one of those kid's car seats required by law.  We made this up to him by letting him choose the music being played, an easy chore because he's in love with the score for A Year with Frog and Toad.  When we collected Alex, soon to be eight, we let him choose the songs - still easy, he loves the same disc.

What's good about YwF&T is that, along with a catchy score that is kid appropriate (in ways that Avenue Q most assuredly is not), the booklet includes pictures and lyrics.

So, a question for all the other DRs: What other CDs do you think would be appropriate, and enjoyable, for a couple of lads aged five and eight?  I've already picked out You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown as our next disc to introduce them to.

Back from the book fair and a lovely lunch at Islands with Pogue, and all I've got to say is - CANASTA, baby, CANASTA!

Pogue bought nothing at the book fair, but I bought a few fun items, the priciest of which wasn't that pricey at all and which is worth at least more than double what I paid for it - a lovely first edition of W.R. Burnett's The Asphalt Jungle in really excellent condition.

Okay, you know-it-alls - we've only had one guess for the trivia question, and that guess was correct, so we know it's doable.  Put on your thinking caps, know-it-alls - it's really fun, but it takes some thinking and WORK.

BK, did you mean foreign playwrights or foreign-language playwrights?

Of the latter, I'm fond of Ibsen, Chekov, Gorky, Strindberg, Anouilh and Molnar.  I'm very curious about the Spanish Golden Age Dramatists like Lope De Vega and intend to go on a reading binge of these shortly.

Favs Brits are really too many to name.  Stoppard, Shaffer, and the Bard top the list.

Dear DRs all, I have an announcement to make!

I am returning to the world of the working shlub!!!

[move=left,scroll,6,transparent,100%] :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o[/move]

Congrats on the employment!   :D  I don't know if I could do that kind of job or not.  Handling anyones money except my own makes me very highly nervous.  I don't know why but if anyone accused me of not giving them the right change or anything like that I would melt.

I would also probably be the worlds easiest mark for every scam in the world.

DR Elmore, I miss Jane too.   :(

Fortunately, a lot of the job, like adding everything up, is handled by computers.  This store has screens that show everything that is being scanned AS it is being scanned, with a running total and any discounts shown in real time.

Any problems with a customer, the running order is to call over a manager, which makes sense.  Takes a lot of pressure off of the cashiers.

Still, as with any clerical job, there are people out there who are bound and determined to make the clerk's life hell, just because they can.  It pays to develop a thick skin.  And the proper meds help, too.   ;D

No, seriously, if I weren't on antidepressants I wouldn't want to even think of attempting a job like this.  That, and a few philosophical roots should help me through the rough spots.

For one thing, I know better than to take the nasty bits personally.  These people don't know me from Adam (or Eve), and will generally be venting their own anger with the world in general.  It happens.

Second, it's up to me to deal with each and every customer as they come to me.  Each one is an individual, worthy of my respect and attention.  And while some of them will be rotten as hell, others will be wonderful people.  Those will deserve to be celebrated, and I intend to.

And I'm not going to be working for tips!  Take a gander at some of the writings at Waiter Rant, (http://waiterrant.blogspot.com/) and you'll learn a lot about how some people can behave.

Now, as for scams, that's going to be something I'll just have to learn, and learn fast.  Actually, I'm glad you brought the subject up, so I'll remember to ask my bosses about what they know.

I tried something different with dinner tonight.  Along with poached chicken breasts and a wild rice/long rice blend (packaged, but I used the poaching liquid instead of water), I made zucchini fritters.

Simple to make, really.  I grated a couple of medium-sized zucchini and a small onion on the box grater, and squeezed as much water out of them as I could.  Then I added a couple of eggs, a quarter cup of flour, some salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes, and gave them a good stir to blend.  I fried them in a pot of oil (my favorite deep-fat frying method) by the tablespoonfull, until they were "golden brown and delicious".  They were pretty dang good, too.

Of course, I suppose I could have made them as zucchini pancakes in a pan.  And the recipe might have worked better with a little baking powder added (just a little, though).  Still, they were light, crunchy, and had a good fresh zucchini taste.

Yummers!

I was thinking Cats might be a good CD for the grandlads to experience.  We have the show on DVD, which will help them understand the show.  What bothers me is that our CD doesn't have the lyrics included, or much in the way of illustrations.  The lads like having something to look at while they listen, particularly Alex, who has decided he does like to read after all.

We may need to get a book, with pics and lyrics.

The obvious choice for television viewing tomorrow is the Tony awards, of course.

But then we have taping conflicts.

On the one hand, the first two hours of "The Next Food TV Star," or whatever they're calling it, will be playing at the same time.

On the other hand, so will the two-hour season opener for The 4400, which der B and I enjoyed last year.

Back from LA CAGE. Some of the younger members of the cast went out after the show, but we have a matinee tomorrow, and since I got in so late last night, I took a pass. I noticed the folks in the play of MY generation were doing likewise.

We had our best show tonight, and I definitely had my best show so far. I am honestly light-headed about how all my stuff went tonight. Last night was far rockier and a night I wouldn't want to remember for me personally. Good crowd and as usual they got more enthusiastic about the show as it progressed.

Tomorrow is a matinee with the "older generation" heavily represented in the audience, and I have an ominous feeling of dread about it. I suspect we're going to be hearing a lot of crickets as we proceed through the show tomorrow afternoon. Ah, well. I can come home to the Tonys.

Well, I didn't properly place my verbs and objects - so I will just say, that I was cleaning THE THEATRE and selling THE TICKETS.

Of course people always like to complain about where they are sitting even if they are lucky to have tickets to a sold out show.  Shortly before the curtain went up, a lady came to the box office and said:  "We can't see a thing from these seats."  And I said:  "Uh, nothing has happened yet."  We had had a couple of seats turned in, so I traded them for her, but you know, we have FIVE rows of seats....FIVE....the stage is a thrust stage.  No set piece was down further than the side aisles, there is no way you can't NOT see everything.

Oh well.

Hmmmmmmm.....must get to working on the trivia question.

Stand by for news.

My friend Zach who has worked a few seasons at Putnam County Playhouse (the above referenced jernt) - was also studying acting at Indiana University.  Last December, Mr Scott LeFaber came to guest direct a production of HAPPY BIRTHDAY, WANDA JUNE and Zach was in it as the Vacuum Cleaner Salesman.

Mr LeFaber told Zach to get himself to NYC and audition for the Circle in the Square Summer Program.  Zach did so, and last week was offered a contract - he will be in NYC this summer!  I am sure it is because he had Putnam County Playhouse on his resume, and Circle In The Square is where a show is playing called ---you know: The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.  I don't know what kind of public presentations the students do there, but if you go see one, NYC HHW'ers, look for Mr Zachary Spicer.

Good Evening!

Good matinee.  FUN evening show.  There was a small group in the front two rows, and they were all having a wonderful time.  There were laughing at everything, and I mean everything!  And it didn't even appear like they were drunk!  ;)

There was one gentleman who kept singing along throughout the show.  Singing along loud enough for me to hear him down in the pit.  With my headphones on!  I guess he just had one of those voices that carries very well.  I would look up every now and then, and he would catch himself singing along and sort of clamp his hand over his mouth.

And then there were the ladies...  They were admiring my origami before the show, and were scoping out my "station" - "Oh, look, that's a kangaroo.  Oh, that's his pile of papers.  See, there, he's started to fold something..."  One of the ladies in the front row had a pair of binoculars with her - they didn't realize they had such good - and close seats.  Well, when the young men of the ensemble came out in their wetsuits and flippers, she put her binoculars to use.  As did her friends sitting around her.  Lots of oooh-ing and aahhh-ing.  Well, in the middle of the number, when Sky get pants'd, and is just standing on stage in his underwear/bathing suit, one of the friends in the row behind her grabbed the binoculars... While they were still strung around the ladie's (in the front row) neck!  It was just like out of a sitcom.

Needless to say, they provided the pit with plenty of entertainment throughout the evening.

-And I did give them a few folds after the Playout music.

Between shows, some of us headed over to AV Ristorante Italiano up on New York Avenue.  This is a classic red-and-white-checked tablecloth sort of space.  Dark wood paneling.  And marinara sauce on everything.  *In fact, they do not serve anything with a cream sauce - no Alfredo anything on the menu.  And the prices and portions can't be beat.

We started off with their white pizza with fontina cheese.  We all could have just supped on that alone.  A great, crisp crust topped with olive oil, garlic, spices and fontina cheese.  Very simple, and very good.

For me entree, I had the Spaghetti Caruso - spaghetti topped with peppers and onions and chicken livers.  My tablemates had the lasagna and the pork cutlet.  All very good, and in generous portions.

We almost did dessert, but after sitting there and digesting for a bit, we passed and headed back to theatre.

But, of course, that didn't stop me from making a stop at Teaism for a serving of their Coconut Rice Pudding (sooooooo good), and one of their Salted Oatmeal Cookies (for intermission).

;)

And, best of all, I still get paid for the full week of shows regardless!

:)

DR Rodzinski - Is your guest room available?

;)

DR elmore - I should have definitely have time to meet up with you while you're in town.  In fact, if I could tag along with you guys at the LoC, I would love to do that.  It's been a while since I've paid a visit to the Music room there.

:)

Scott LaFeber is also the Artistic Director for The New Harmony Theatre in New Harmony, Indiana - where I almost would have been during this time right now - and he used to be on faculty at the University of Southern Indiana.  Now, he splits his time between Boston and New York.

He's such a great guy, all around.  And he has a great story of how he saved his own career back when he was doing soaps.  And, how, consequently, he ended up racking up some ratings for the soap he was on.  -Which I can't remember right now.  It was one of those situations, where someone asked what he would like to happen to his character... And they ran with it!  He was about to be killed off, but...

Scott is a great judge of talent, and is always is supportive of the the "new ones", especially those still and/or just out of school/training programs.  I'm sure your friend, Zach, will have a wonderful time at Circle.

A digital recordist operates the Pro Tools machine.  It's what Vinnie has been doing for the last few years - it was nice to get him back doing what he does best, which is engineering.

I would not move back to NY permanently - but I'm sure I'll be going back and forth a lot.

The library where I work just received the new CD of Captain Louie (http://www.psclassics.com/cd_louie.html), based on Ezra Jack Keats children's book THE TRIP, with songs by Stephen Schwartz.  I haven't gotten it yet, but the one review on amazon.com gives it five stars.

Also, what about:

Bugys Malone
A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum
It's a Bird! It's a Plane! It's Superman!
Snoopy (especially after Charlie Brown)

Hmmm....

I have a feeling that even though the songs may sound "innocent", Bugsy Malone, Forum, and Superman may cause some questions should the lads start to really listen to the lyrics.  -Especially, Forum.

How about Seussical?

Willy Wonka - They just released the CD of the recent Kennedy Center presentation.

Tom Sawyer - The recent Broadway flop.  A fun listen.

Back from dinner with La Deutsch.  She insisted on hearing the Guy Haines album in its entirety, so we drove around whilst I played it for her.  She professed to love every minute of it, which was very nice to hear, since she's the first one to hear it all the way through.  She went on and on about it, and her favorite track on the album is the Craig Carnelia song, Cowboy Waltz.  I saw a potential cover today and it made me laugh out loud, so we may go with it.

Finally got around to watching the season finale to LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT. John Dossett was the top billed guest star and he was marvelous. And, oh, to see those lustrous blue eyes of his in high definition is a sight to see, "a sight for sore eyes," so to speak  :)

Michelle Pawk is one lucky lady.

I had the extreme pleasure of working with Mr. Dossett when I was the rehearsal pianist for A Little Night Music at the Kennedy Center.  He was playing Fredrik.  Truly one of the nicest people I've ever met and had the pleasure of working with.

And, yes, those eyes...  Swoon, big time!  And he has the neatest color of "gray" hair - it's sort of flaxen, lustrous. -Not that I was looking at him that much...

;)

And then when they would rehearse the "Now, Soon, Later," sequence, and John would undress down to his boxer-briefs...

;D

Good evening all.
I made an impromptu trip over to Ellensburg last night to join in a poker night of my own.  We played Texas Hold 'Em the entire time, and I rather enjoyed it.  I didn't last very long...fourth or fifth to go out, out of about 10 people.  It was fun, though.  Then back over to Tacoma this afternoon, a quiet relaxing afternoon around the apartment, some yummy marinated chicken for dinner, a warm bath just now...and now I'm watching the 1987 Dan Akroyd (yes, I know i spelled that wrong) Tom Hanks version of Dragnet.  A little guilty pleasure of mine, I confess.

I don't know from the TOD, so I'll remain silent on that matter

Yes DRJOSE - oh dear I spelled Scott's name wrong, but yes he also works at the New Harmony facility, or did.  I am very excited for Zachary, maybe I can find a picture of him so here at HHW you can see another star in the making.  Jessica Skerritt and the girl MATTH mentioned earlier today....Metz....can't remember her first name....grrrrr...  Age, you know.

Well my cousin, bless her, who directed and choreographed OLIVER! is a dance-gymnastic teacher, and of course those kinds of directors do shows that end up looking a LOT like recitals, but ANYWAY - in "Food Glorious Food" one of the young orphans did a backflip (I know, I know) and lost a pair of dice out of his pocket.  I commented to my ticket-selling mate:  "That's what I call making seven the hard way."

I am watching COLOSSUS THE FORBIN PROJECT.

All of these 60's and 70's computer movies look so strange now.  All of use probably have computers in our homes with the capability of the super computers they show.

Eric Braeden had been a favorite of mine since THE RAT PATROL next on ABC in Color!  So I was very excited to see him on the BIG drive in SCREEN!  And he turned up in his undies, too.  An unexpected bonus.

Yes, the mail is getting to me, so no worries.  I've pretty much decided not to have my name as part of the logo.  No reason, really - people will know, and there's an "Ask Bruce Kimmel" icon on the menu bar.

SWW, I am sure you could find one of the color programs from the Broadway production of CATS on ebay.  I doubt that it would be very expensive.  If you kept it in the car for them when they listened to the CD, they might enjoy seeing the pictures from the production.

It's almost 11:30 p.m. and I just remembered to check my mail (outside, in my actual mailbox).  Guess what was in it!  It was my sparkling prize for correctly answering one of the 30th Anniversary Nudie Musical trivia questions from last month (and the trivia contest was on my birthday!)!  I received the CD "Widescreen:  The Collector's Edition" by Rupert Holmes!  Thanks, BK! ;D

Since my son is apparently out partying with the cast, I guess it will be up to me to report on tonight's show.  Amazingly enough, the entire production seemed sharper and tighter tonight than it was last night.  The audience was with us all the way.  We received a standing ovation for the second night in a row, but unfortunately, since our leading lady doesn't believe in taking a second bow, we basically turned our back on the standing O, and left the stage.
