Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of a food disaster, and now it is time for you to post until the disastrous cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: TRAILBLAZE!
-
~~~Vibes for No Sick BK!!~~~
-
Good morning, friends.
-
DR George, I have to write something similar - what they call here a "work aid" - but just for one small slice of one procedure. I'm kind of looking forward to the challenge, although if I had to do more I think it would get old fast.
-
~~~VIBES~~~ for bk that you don't get sick. Have you tried going to bed earlier?
-
Good morning, all!
-
Another bad night of sleep. It was warm last night and that did not help. Thatch was irritated with me, Stella stayed away, and I have no idea where my faithful Annabelle ean off to.
-
I remember bits of two dreams. In one, Joshie and I were at a reading of music arranged for a chamber group by Jonathan Tunick. After the session ended, I walked out with James Lapine.
In the second, I was in a dark, very large, haunted bedroom old house.
-
We are in for bad weather over the weekend. This will affect my radiation treatments.
-
DR Jeanne, my Amazon Fresh deliveries are always a day or two after I order. I think you should call customer service and check on that price discrepancy got the bottled water. You might get a refund.
-
Hapy Friday the 14th, all!
-
Yes, that greeting also includes the three lurkers (or "guests") perusing these pages.
-
It is a cold-ish morning. 35 degrees here. The sun is shining, the sky is clear, and all I really want is to sleep some more.
Things to do, though. Things to do.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Health vibes for BK.
-
I’m tired and don’t want to stir.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I stirred. Enough to toast and spread an everything bagel.
Coffee!
-
Yes, DR Elmore, you will most certainly be taking Monday off to sit out the nor'easter.
I must shop -- TODAY, not Sunday, aka Panic Day -- not even Saturday -- for some essentials to tide me over through it.
-
But I forget -- were the radiation treatments scheduled for just weekdays, or every day?
-
TOD
Nothing much in the Blu-ray/DVD player this week.
I got a hankering for Finian's Rainbow, and have pulled out the 1999 (is that the right year?) cast CD and the Irish Rep one, and I do believe I had only ever sampled the latter. I'm especially interested in listening to the two-piano arrangement.
-
Well wrong food, handyman, no sleep, venue craziness, and bird bites.....
All I can say is Mercury Retrograde - and it continues until February 4 - so batten down the hatches.
-
Sleeping vibes for MR BK along with writing vibes.
-
Surviving the weather vibes for the HHW'ers on the Right Coast.
-
It is 10:16 a.m. and my trash is still sitting on the curb.
-
Barnum is throwing his almonds out onto the floor of his cage.
-
But I forget -- were the radiation treatments scheduled for just weekdays, or every day?
They asked me to come in Saturday and Monday to make up for last week when the machine was down.
-
Remember when a week or two I posted that right after Christmas Day my email spam came to nearly a screeching halt? In the past two days it's rapidly building back up, from single digits per day to easily 20-30. I would blame Mercury, but I know full well that there will now, once again, be no stop to it.
-
Car due in 12 minutes. I hate having to put my morning on hold while I wait for the car, The last two days they were 30 minutes early. Today it's almost on time.
-
Lots of SPAM email for me, too.
Yesterday as the drama was going down, I was in Smarty waiting for my sister so we could go to the bank. My BIL came out and told me what was happening, so I went in the check it out.....so I was ON THE SPOT for the drama!
-
Page Two.
-
The InnerWebs suggests that I make Salted Caramel Kentucky Butter cake.
-
I'm up, I'm up - five hours maybe. I said not before nine, they get here at eight. No mask. NOW they have a mask. Covering everything in plastic and will be sanding. Am I supposed to stay here while this sanding is going on? Do I need that crap in my lungs. I have no idea how long this is going to take and I don't want to leave them here and I need to write and I REALLY don't need to get sick
And someone can tell me how Mercury in retrograde can happen already when it just STOPPED a couple of months ago.
-
DR John I hope your finger is ok today.
-
DR Ron I hope you breathing continues to improve.
-
~~~Vibes for No Sick BK!!~~~
Ditto!
Then hopefully your actions were in time.
-
I am now ensconced at the computer behind plastic - they haven't even started. I have fifteen pages to write and I don't know when that's supposed to happen. I am FURIOUS and Grant has been on the receiving end of it all morning.
Burton Lane was seemingly incapable of writing anything but lovely music, no matter how many instruments it’s played on. I really like the two pianos.
-
And will continue to be on the receiving end till these people are gone. And I cannot work after posting the notes because I have to be up by eight-thirty tomorrow.
-
The InnerWebs suggests that I make Salted Caramel Kentucky Butter cake.
Did they finish the instructions? You’re supposed to ship it to me when you’re done.
-
I just got back from shopping at three stores (one cat store and two human ones - Trader Joe's and Stew Leonard's) for some essentials, and I could practically feel Mercury smiling down upon me. Every step of the way there was one little irritating or "off" thing after another. I am glad to be back at home. I will have to run out to the regular supermarket briefly tomorrow, and that will not be a hassle. I'll still be avoiding Panic Day.
-
Plastic and sanding? It doesn't get much more intrusive than that. Oy and vey.
-
More spam. And at a glance, it's just the garden variety selection, nothing to indicate it's all suddenly coming from one source. Not that you could tell, anyway, since they can disguise the living HELL out of it.
-
I am home. The Access-a-Rides were both strange today. This morning I rode in a huge bus-like vehicle, just me and the driver. Her took the weirdest route to East 77th Street, and several streetswere blocked off so he had to backtrack. The usual 15-minute ride was more like 25-30. However, the driver was the best one I've had in terms of taking care of me and getting me safely to the door.
The return trip had the first driver I thought was a compleat jerk.
-
I will go in tomorrow, but I have canceled Monday because of my weather fears. I will do laundry instead.
Yummy!!
-
I had to leave. Went and had an omelet and stayed away for two hours. I think the sanding is done and he's painting now, which shouldn't take too long, hopefully. The thing in the bathroom will take five minutes.
-
I decided I needed some Chinese food tonight rather than my chicken soup. It's awfully good, ut after three days I need a change.
-
Good afternoon!
Wise decision. We have remolded too many homes and it is always hard on me.
-
You really don’t want to be there on a holiday either.
-
They let us go early because of the holiday.
-
Yay!
-
I forgot Monday is a holiday.
I forgot Monday is a holiday.
I get the day off, too! :D
-
Finished futzing and finessing and there was a lot of it.
:)
-
Plastic is coming down, so I think he's through now and just cleaning up. As soon as he's gone, I'll get to work on new pages. I'm now coming to the critical part of the book, the final forty pages.
DR George - that's the biggest ol' sun I ever done seen!
He’s coming here next week.
Need to make a library run.
Our "s**w" event today turned out to be a nothingburger. I'm not sure the East Coast will be so lucky.
Is the storm over? I looked at the flights Bryan is taking tomorrow and they were on time today. I hope this means they will also be on time tomorrow.
While still a bit on the cold side at 48 degrees, the sun is shining. Our afternoon walk was especially nice as all the leaves have been blown off of the walking path. It felt good not having to worry about slipping on them, and we returned home with clean shoes.
-
Snow has tapered off in the Twin Cities.
-
Fingers crossed for you and family, DR Jane.
-
Vibes for MR BK that some rest is coming.
Mercury Retrogrades are pesky creatures that can show up at any time. Here is the outlook for this year:
January 13 to February 3
May 10 to June 2
September 9 to October 1
December 28 to January 18 (2023)
-
Thank you.
-
And yes my garbage cans were emptied by the NEW company.
Ten items on reserve came in at the library.
What will I watch? Maybe more Maigret episodes. But most likely W.C. Fields in The Old Fashioned Way and Marlene in The Blue Angel.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
My fever is gone, but I am still fighting this wretched thang. Some friends in the Bay Area both had it and, like me, felt it was pretty tenacious.
-
This morning I was finally up to dealing with that huge pile of laundry that had accumulated. One load only. But that's a help.
-
I am sorry you are still sick. Did you find out if it is a cold or covid?
-
DR Jeanne, my Amazon Fresh deliveries are always a day or two after I order. I think you should call customer service and check on that price discrepancy got the bottled water. You might get a refund.
Good point. I'll try to do that.
But don't you think that "2 hour delivery with $35 order" is misleading? That certainly implies same day delivery.
BE WELL VIBES FOR DR JEANNE!
~~~RECOVERY VIBES~~~ for DR Jeanne!!!!

Lookey, PAGE FOUR!

But who made up this Mercury in retrograde malarkey?

And someone can tell me how Mercury in retrograde can happen already when it just STOPPED a couple of months ago.
A couple years ago my landlord thought it perfectly acceptable to have the handyman come in, rip out a LARGE section of my kitchen ceiling and plaster, sand, and paint for one week, leaving me without the use of my kitchen. I live in a studio apartment and my bed is 3 feet from the kitchen. I find this completely UNacceptable and fought tooth and nail about it. Not to mention that I am highly allergic to dust, mud, and paint. I won the battle, but it still bugs me that anyone could find that acceptable.
-
Almost seven pages so far. Just ended a chapter and began a new one. It took a really long time to get the end of the last chapter right and I'm still not sure it's right and I won't know until I read it again in the morning. I think it works, though. There were two different ways to approach it. I chose one and if I feel it's not the right one, then I'll have to rewrite about two pages to do the other approach.
-
This sure seems like a Saturday, doesn't it?
-
But who made up this Mercury in retrograde malarkey?
One of his spurned lovers most likely.
-
I am sorry you are still sick. Did you find out if it is a cold or covid?
No, not for sure, but I don't think it's Covid. Home test kits haven't been available online for months now and I haven't been well enough to go in person.

You are probably right. You are so careful it is hard imaging you have a cold let alone covid.
-
BE WELL VIBES FOR DR JEANNE!
Thank you, Jane. I'm improving.
Good.
-
We picked up covid tests after returning home from our trip. We almost purchased some on the trip except we didn't know anything about the brand, and they were saliva kits which don't work as well for testing covid.
Turns out, saliva tests might work better for Omicron and we have the top rated nasal test available.
;D
-
Right now I am more concerned I don't have a cold then the possibility I have covid. Actually that I am coming down with a cold. I still feel as if I have allergies, the kind that sometimes turn into colds.

So...is it a bad thing that the only name I recognize is Natascia Diaz? :-\
-
About 40 minutes into the show, someone named Bobby Smith sings a great version of Marry Me a Little.

No. I think I also recognized Holly Twyford. But why I don't know.

We started a 90 minute documentary about scoring film music called, appropriately, Score. I found it was available on a free platform called "Doc+"

Good night, friends.

There is a nice park in downtown Vancouver with a very nice playground. We have been looking forward to taking Freyja there. Keith just saw an article that the playground burned down on the 11th :(
-
Reading the article we knew there was no way that playground burned down without help. Yup, the fire was intentionally set >:(

I didn't there were already plans to replace it later in the year. They will try to get it done sooner but that doesn't help all of the children who want to play on it during our nice days.
-
I am super disappointed we can't do this with her. She, of course, loves going to the playground. Near us is a park with a few swings, very unexciting.
-
Dolly Parton has now written a thriller with james Patterson called Run Rose Run. I like Dolly. I think I'll pass.

Good evening.

Hello, DR Laura. How's the roof?
-
Watching the 1979 No Nukes concert performance of Bruce Springsteen. The DVD comes with a 2-CD set. Electrifying performance. Some of his songs never sounded better.
It's interesting to see the theater lit with lighters. What a throwback. Nowadays, they use their cellphones.

My day has wound down. Nothing new to report here. Well, I did get a batch of meds in the mail from the VA. That was nice.
I had only three spam calls today. Answered none of them.
If it was one of the guests who lurk here, I was not amused.
-
Lunch was a grilled cheese sandwich with provolone and cheddar.
Supper was a 5-oz. filet mignon. Mighty tasty.
-
Taking a brief writing break, which is basically all I've been doing this day. I've done twelve pages and will definitely do three more before I write the notes. I did end up not liking the approach I took so I spent a huge amount of time figuring out how to change it to the other approach - revising, rewriting endlessly, until I finally got it at least to the right place. It read pretty well. Normally, I never do that, but I had to in order to be able to write the subsequent chapter. It was maddening but I'm glad I used the this other approach as it works much better for the story and how it unfolds.
-
Our "s**w" event today turned out to be a nothingburger. I'm not sure the East Coast will be so lucky.
I am counting on that nothingburger event to confine itself north of me. By five miles due north would be fine.
I know that if it happens here, it will be tomorrow night into Sunday morning.
I have Sunday Brunch plans, thanks, and don't want no stinking freezing rain on the roads. I do have a four-wheel drive pickup, but I have never used the four-wheel drive feature.
I will if I have to, though.
-
DR Ron I hope you breathing continues to improve.
Me, too. Time will tell.
-
Terry Teachout, drama critic for the Wall Street Journal, has died. I can't say I was a fan of his theater criticism, but I did like his biography of George Balanchine.

Right now I am more concerned I don't have a cold then the possibility I have covid. Actually that I am coming down with a cold. I still feel as if I have allergies, the kind that sometimes turn into colds.
Drink some hot tea.
A little rum in it, if you have it.
Put your feet up.
Don't go out without wrapping up and wearing sensible shoes.
Drink more tea. Add rum, if you can tolerate it.
-
Good night! Good night!
Parting is such sweet sorrow
That I may say good night
until it be morrow. NOT!
-
Good night, all.

Oh, no! That's terrible. :(
-
Tonga has just been hit by a tsunami, following a massive eruption of a underwater volcano.
-
I just heard on the late news of a massive 11-alarm chemical fire burning out of control in Passaic, NJ. Turns out it is the huge chemical company that was about a block from where I lived in Lodi.
-
I can’t believe I am still up.
-
Yesterday I went to bed at 4:30 p.m.
-
I would have slept straight thru until morning, except I had a dream that my sister walked into my bedroom and told me that if I was going to sleep all night, then I had better turn down the heat.
-
Weird dream, but it did wake me up.
