Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke lovingly of Tony Walton, and now it is time for you to post until the sad cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: HONCHO!
-
Kyle MacLachlin was on STEPHEN COLBERT. He is from Yakima, Washington.
-
Very sweet remembrances of Tony Walton, BK. Thanks for sharing. :)
-
And on a happy note (F#)...
Great Performances' 'Broadway's Best' Returns With ANYTHING GOES, MERRY WIVES, and KEEPING COMPANY WITH SONDHEIM (https://www.broadwayworld.com/article/Great-Performances-Broadways-Best-Returns-With-ANYTHING-GOES-MERRY-WIVES-and-KEEPING-COMPANY-WITH-SONDHEIM-20220302)

Well, tonight is opening night for The Bold, the Young, and the Murdered (http://www.olympialittletheater.org/shows/bold/)! ;D
-
We'll play ten performances over three weekends, ending on Sunday, March 20. But then on Monday, March 28, I'm supposed to start rehearsals for Evergreen Playhouse (https://evergreenplayhouse.com/)'s production of Mamma Mia! (https://evergreenplayhouse.com/events/mamma-2022)
-
Those performances will be in May...and it opens the day after my birthday! What a great (if unintentional) birthday present...to be performing onstage after more than a few years again!
-
Good morning, friends.
-
We are ready to start our day!
-
Thanks for that lovely tribute to Tony Walton, bk!
-
T did not sleep very well. An excruciating pain has developed, out of nowhere, in my left wrist. I am typing with only my right hand.
-
Since my work mostly involves talking and typing, today will be interesting,
-
For those who asked, here is the Rancho Gordo website:
https://www.ranchogordo.com/ (https://www.ranchogordo.com/)
It is a farming estate located in Napa, CA devoted to growing and distributing exotic and heirloom beans. A subscription, for which there is about a one year plus waitlist, means that you will get a quarterly box of assorted product. One can also buy from them directly, non-subscription, whatever is in stock.
They have a series of cookbooks as well as many resources and recipes.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept rather well, given that something's pinched in my lower left back, and movement is really painful.
-
In 1994. my phone rang, and when I picked it up, a voice I did not recognize asked, Is this Larry Moore?
I said, yes, it was, and the voice said, This is Tony Walton. I've just listened to "Unsung Sondheim" and your orchestrations are fantastic!
After a pause, I asked, Who is this really?
Well, it actually was Tony Walton. I don't believe I actually met him until Twiggy's album. When he was designing the revival of Annie Get Your Gun, he told me I should be doing the orchestrations and urged me to call John McDaniel, who, despite his assurances to submit me, never did. Tony did, however, did ask me to orchestrate Where's Charley? at Goodspeed in 2004. His production was hilarious, everything John Doyle's maladroit production for Encores! should have been.
He tried to get Busker Alley off the ground for Jim Dale - I was going to orchestrate it - but it never took. I didn't see him after that, but last year the cast of Where's Charley? and I had a Zoom meeting with him and Gen for his birthday. He was a very dear man.
-
Good morning to all
-
Thank you Bruce and Larry for the wonderful reminiscences of Tony Walton.

Good morning, all.
-
Wonderful tributes.
-
TOD
uh......... Nothing.
It's been that kind of a week. And this weekend is impossible. On Monday I will start ketchuping again.
-
Tonight, it's back to the mail room.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Great tributes to Mr. Walton. Grand Hotel had a magnificent set. And of course, his work on Mary Poppins was supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.
-
Kitty cleanup is over. I'm taking the trash to the basement and walking to my bank for more Access-a-Ride singles. I think I'll get $40 worth since I have several appointments requiring AAR coming up.
-
Had awful leg cramps last night that kept interrupting my sleep. Not nice.
-
Off to the day.
-
But first …
-
Two!
-
Thanks to MR BK for the TW notes and to DR ELMORE for his remembrance.
-
Congrats to DR singdaw on his induction into the Rancho Gordo cult....I am sure he will enjoy it!
-
Break legs to DR GEORGE & Co. May the Guiding Light take them through The Days of Our Lives and past The Edge of Night where there are many Dark Shadows.
-
We got the BIG annuity check today! We will be going to the bank. The attorney wants to see it - so we may not be able to deposit it today.....we shall see.......
Otherwise we will just get some tax info from the bank.
-
Thanks for the phonograph player link, Bruce!!!
-
Good morning.
I cannot think how it happened, but I got 10 hours of sleep! It must have been the end result of all my activity yesterday afternoon. I'll have to do that walking thing again.
-
Ponder me this:
-
May each of us have a pleasant, productive day.
If not, let's try not to slash, maim or kill anyone.

The attorney, eh? Is he the executor of the estate? Why would he need to see it?

In the immortal words of Fred Rogers:
Tree, tree, tree
Tree, tree, tree
Tree, tree, tree
Tree, tree, tree.
I love you
Yes, I do
Yes, I do
I love you.

From DR Jeanne:
Sing, I had no idea you were interested in heirloom beans. Nor that there's an heirloom bean club.
My, my. TTOLOHHW (The Things One Learns on HHW).
Are congratulations in order?
:D
I immediately looked for a following post explaining the club, and then googled it.
-
From Jeanne:
Jane, that only works when you're talking to humans -- and humans that will try to be helpful. I usually schedule online. No provision in the software for special concerns. Once, when the website wouldn't let me schedule, I tried phoning. An automated voice told me that there were 56 calls ahead of me! I went back to the website and found a workaround.
Oh yes, I have been there and hate it.
-
T did not sleep very well. An excruciating pain has developed, out of nowhere, in my left wrist. I am typing with only my right hand.
:(
Vibes it is better by tomorrow.

DR RON PULLIAM our attorney is just being helpful and making sure we follow all guidelines. He called and said a copy will be fine. My sister and I are executors/personal representatives/administrators.
It is deposited. We could not do anything money wise until THREE MONTHS after we were officially appointed, and that was December 2.
So now - we want to talk to him about the first check to the 24 gaping maws.....and what we want to keep in the account.....probably about $50,000 for taxes, etc.
We couldn't
-
DR Singdaw do you have a wrist support you can wear? I have learned not to keep my on all day without taking breaks.
-
...or maybe we could. I don't know where that dangling paragraph came from.....
-
We got the BIG annuity check today! We will be going to the bank. The attorney wants to see it - so we may not be able to deposit it today.....we shall see.......
Otherwise we will just get some tax info from the bank.
Can't you simply take photos of both sides and send those to him? Never mind, I see a copy was fine.
-
DR JANE a wrist support is a very good idea. I use mine now and then and it certainly helps with all the computer typing.
-
Good morning.
I cannot think how it happened, but I got 10 hours of sleep! It must have been the end result of all my activity yesterday afternoon. I'll have to do that walking thing again.
Yes, do that walking thing every day.
-
Yes DR JANE - that is what he said when he finally returned our call.
-
Congrats to DR RON PULLIAM on his 10 hours!
-
Jrand, I use the ACE

Which one do you wear? I wear the ACE wrap around wrist support.

Sorry about the size. Internet issues again, can't stay to fix it.
-
I'm up, I'm up - six hours of sleep. It would have been more but the computer decided to be dopey, froze, shut itself down all by its lonesome, restarted all by its lonesome, and then nothing worked as it should so I shut it down manually and restarted and then it got better, although trying to get the music files from the thumb drive to the desktop was really slow and eventually I gave up. Hopefully, that will have sorted itself out because it should be instantaneous.
-
Nothing wrong with actual size photos, Jane.
-
Great news about the sleep, DR Ron Pulliam.
-
Got my hep B shot. Hoping for no reaction.
-
Lunch time.

But first…
-
Three!
-
It is freezing ion this apartment. I don't think I've worn this many clothes in ages.
-
I walked to the bank and got singles. Since my accountant will be in tomorrow, I booked trips with Access-a-Ride to deliver those 1099s to him.
-
My back is still bothering me. I am not happy.

Aw, shucks.
-
Yes, that's such a wonderful story.
-
As is BK's.
You two were sure blessed when Mr. Walton came down the pike.
-
Thanks, DR Jane. I don't own a wrist guard, but it sounds like I had better get one!
-
I forget what my wrist thing is called, it was $20-something at CVS, but there are days when it's a life saver.
-
Nothing wrong with actual size photos, Jane.
That is way bigger than my little wrist ;D
-
Got my hep B shot. Hoping for no reaction.
I don't recall any reactions, aside from a mildly sore arm. Good luck.
-
I forget what my wrist thing is called, it was $20-something at CVS, but there are days when it's a life saver.
Mine is $9.00 on Amazon. I can't always find them in the stores. I always travel with it so have a tendency to lose them and own extras. If I forget to wear it while pulling my carryon bag my wrist hurts.
-
Of all the wrist supports I have had over the years I like this one the best.
-
The interview thing with Cindy was amazingly fun. I'll try to find out where and when it goes up - it's for Rotten Tomatoes and this woman LOVES the movie - saw it when it came out.
-
Then I picked up a fantastic package I've been waiting for - several ORIGINAL Harvey Schmidt cover paintings for the Ben Bagley albums - they're incredible and off to the framers we go. There's one hand-colored Xerox thing, but all the others are the original paintings from scratch - those are the ones I'll frame and they're just beautiful.
-
O M G :)
-
What a wonderful haul, bk!
-
Good afternoon!
-
Very nice remembrances of Tony Walton by BK and DR elmore
-
Thanks for mentioning "Canucke," DR Jennifer. Now I'm doing Wordle, Quordle, and Canuckle.
-
Good morning.
I cannot think how it happened, but I got 10 hours of sleep! It must have been the end result of all my activity yesterday afternoon. I'll have to do that walking thing again.
Yes, do that walking thing every day.
I did do that walking thing today Oddly enough, I imagine passing drivers saw an odd figure shuffling along at a pitiful pace. Today, the effort was greater than it was yesterday.
I did some stretching before and after. That felt normal even if the sluggish pace of walking a simple quarter-mile didn't.
The main problem is that I am overusing my right leg because the tweak is on my left side, and I feel it every time I lift my left leg.
Sigh.
-
Nice box full MR BK.
-
I got mine at the Dollar Tree - when it was still The Dollar Tree.....it's nice and blue and fits very well even after almost 8 years.
-
I stopped by Third Generation at 11 a.m. to get some lunch. Baked catfish, grits, cabbage and black-eyed peas. Brought it home and ate in front of the TV. Had unsweetened iced tea.
-
I loved Walton's art direction for 1978 movie version of "The Wiz".
-

No matter how bad things get, don't be angus!!!

Sorry, DR Ron Pulliam. I don't really mean to make light of your malady.

It was very tasty. They will also fry-to-order if you want it fried. My favorite thing they cook, though, is fried chicken. As ubiquitous as fried chicken is in the south, Third Generation's is the best I've tasted.
-
Costco and BJ's gas price is up from $3.43 when I filled up five days ago, to $3.59. I doubt that happened all in one jump, but I don't know because I hadn't been by there since last weekend.
I'll be filling up tomorrow morning for my last two trips to Poughkeepsie and back, and I believe I am going to be feeling, as the saying goes, Pain at the Pump.
-
Happily, I filled up my pickup yesterday. The price per gallon went up 11 cents overnight here in SC.
-
Many people don't know that in the original draft, the line "I am Spartacus!" was actually "I am Angus!"

Not perzactly. I can't EVEN lift my left leg that high.
-
Sorry, DR Ron Pulliam. I don't really mean to make light of your malady.

Virtual payback in the offing.

Gosh! DRslingshot is here one minute and then "whoosh", he's gone.
-
Either CBS is having a broadcasting glitch today or my TV is dying.

I don't remember if it's been mentioned yet, but JAY Records is finally releasing another "new" recording that was recorded more than 25 years ago:
JAY commenced the first complete recording of the original version of the musical with the original orchestrations by Philip J. Lang at Abbey Road Studios, London on October 5 1996 and completed it at Clinton Recording Studios, New York on October 19 1996. It was released on April 8 2022.
-
WTF?? Why deliberately hold onto a recording for that long?? :o
-
What show, DR George?
-
I got mine at the Dollar Tree - when it was still The Dollar Tree.....it's nice and blue and fits very well even after almost 8 years.
You are lucky. I found older styles stretch out after awhile.

Gratuitous post 111!

Ushering for the ballet tonight. Fewer than 300 tickets sold for tonight. More than 30 ushers. Light night.
The San Antonio Ballet is doing Don Quixote.

What show, DR George?
A complete recording of 42nd Street (https://www.jayrecords.com/recording/42nd-street-complete-recording/).
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Judging from the posts, many of us are feeling worse than usual. I blame the planets.
Vibes to all of us to feel better pronto!
-
I had acupuncture today, which relieved my pain, but I REALLY need a nap! I haven't slept well all week.
-
May each of us have a pleasant, productive day.
If not, let's try not to slash, maim or kill anyone.
Why take all the fun out of it?
(Sorry if that seems offensive--just an attempt at humor)
-
Hello, DR Jeanne.
Hope your back continues to improve.
-
My wrist has gotten better and better throughout the day.
-
What makes these things start or stop? Medical mysteries.
-
And mysteries got us to page 5.
-
On Tuesday, Britbox released a new series, MURDER IN PROVENCE. I am desperate for a new series or two, and I loved the star, Roger Allum, in ENDEAVOUR. But the show is just so-so, IMHO. It takes place in France and the characters are supposed to be French, but there is nothing French about them. They are Brits. Even if they were speaking French they wouldn't be believable. Sigh. What's happened to British TV?
-
I was looking at that one, DR Jeanne. Perhaps now I'll give it a pass.
-
I don't think that I've ever seen Cranford, and it looks like PBS is running that one again.
-
DR elmore3003 mentioned it the other day.
-
Well, I suppose I should be thinking about dinner.
-
Later!
-
Hi, Sing.
Glad to hear your wrist is better. It's often hard to know what triggers these things. For me, it could be something I ate, usually wheat or sugar. Or it could be muscular. I pulled something in my left foot a few days ago and cannot figure out how I did it. I agree with Jane about having a wrist brace on hand. (Where else would you put it?) I have one like Jane's, but the one I wear most is by Incrediwear. It's very comfortable to wear and let's me have more use of my hand. My other one is better at immobilizing, which is sometimes what you need, but Incrediwear's let's you do more.
I also would recommend one of the Arnicas. The Arnica Rub is my go-to cream.
Hope it continues to improve.
-
Thank you, DR Jeanne.
-
I was looking at that one, DR Jeanne. Perhaps now I'll give it a pass.
You might like it better than I did.
-
Vibes to all.
TTFN.

Check out this conducktor. I'm not sure how he was billed. Perhaps they just found him on the Web. But he might be just a quack.

My older styles were lighter weight & more comfortable but this one seems to work better. To completely embolize my wrist I would need something that loops through the thumb instead of just wrapping around my wrist. The Incrediwear must be very soft and flexible.

Too bad groaning isn't allowed on HHW. ::)
;)
-
George, because Mr. Yap is out of his mind? He's apparently monied - probably from an inheritance and so he thinks it's fine to sit on albums for a quarter of a century. It doesn't cost that much to mix an album so why not get it out and get some money coming back in. I'll never understand it. I finally blocked him on Facebook because he was so irritating.
-
Similar to what I was thinking.
-
'night
-
:)
-
Good night, friends.
-
Don Quixote was great, and the tiny audience loved every minute. It was like a whole different company from Nutcracker.
-
The show is going well.
-
The house probably 3/4ths full.
-
One actor kind of went up right at the top of the show, but once he recovered, he hasn't had any other line issues. :)
-
Everyone's otherwise doing well.
-
And now, we're at intermission.
-
PAGE SIX DANCE!!
-
Six!
-
So, back in December I ordered a new car to be built...a 2022 Subaru Impreza hatchback.
-
Vibes for George and company's second half!
-
My Ford Escort is almost 24 years old and since I paid off my mortgage, it was finally time to get a new car.
-
Vibes for George and company's second half!
Thanks, John!
-
When I ordered it, I was told that it would take (approximately) 120 days, which would be April.
-
Well, I called the dealer a couple of days and asked if my car is still on that schedule, or if things that are happening now would potentially push that out.
-
They took my info and said that they'd call back shortly.
-
They did call back and I was told that they did see my order with my name and that it was on track for an April delivery!
-
I asked if they could at least tell me if it would be early in April or late, but they couldn't tell me that, yet.
-
April 2023?
-
They said that someone would call later this month with a more accurate arrival date.
-
Then at some point, the guy made an off-handed comment...something about that it was a good thing that I ordered my car when I did.
-
April 2023?
FORTUNATELY not! Next month!
-
I don't think much about the huy's comment until I just happened to come across this article just today:
Subaru Now Has 3 New Models That Are Sold Out For The Entire Year (https://www.torquenews.com/1084/subaru-now-has-3-new-models-are-sold-out-entire-year)!
-
The Impreza is one of the sold out models...but I ordered it in time for it to get built!
-
Whew! ;D
-
Good for you, George.
-
I've had enough Riverdale for one evening.
-
Good night, all.
-
Good for you, George.
I know! ;D
-
And now, we're done! It was a good opening night.
Time to head home!
-

I'll be filling up tomorrow morning for my last two trips to Poughkeepsie and back, and I believe I am going to be feeling, as the saying goes, Pain at the Pump.
Passing by there on the way home at midnight, I see the price is now $3.71.
I wonder if it will have gone up again by the time I get there in the morning.
Btw, folks, Costco’s and BJ’s prices are the cheapest in town.
-
Judging from the posts, many of us are feeling worse than usual. I blame the planets.
I blame Uranus!
-
Tonight I watched WEST SIDE STORY (2021). I really enjoyed it.
I guess I don’t understand why we can’t enjoy both versions? They are two very different films, made sixty years apart.
-
I mean, after all, we have had four different versions of A STAR IS BORN. So far, I have only seen three of the four versions, but I find good (and different) points in all three of them.
-
Wow, here it is, eight minutes before midnight; and I suddenly get notified that I just won a Dyson V-11 vacuum cleaner!
-
Must be my lucky
day eight minutes!!
-
Lovely remembrances of Mr. Tony Walton.
-
Page seven
-
And how many film versions of ROMEO AND JULIET have there been?
-
Including one with a practically middle-aged Leslie Howard.
-
Wow, here it is, eight minutes before midnight; and I suddenly get notified that I just won a Dyson V-11 vacuum cleaner!
Congrats, Tom!
;)
-
How was opening night, George?
-
How was opening night, George?
It went pretty well. We had fairly full house and they were a little reserved (the script isn't knee-slapping hysterical), but it does get kind of ridiculous...in a good way.
-
Tonight I cooked up mostaccioli with that Abracadabra sauce we talked about here the ther day. Was it Rao brand?
-
Boy that stuff really has a kick.
-
But Tom, did you like it??
-
I added a pound of ground beef and some shredded Parmesan cheese.
-
Wow, here it is, eight minutes before midnight; and I suddenly get notified that I just won a Dyson V-11 vacuum cleaner!
Congrats, Tom!
;)
I don’t think it was a real contest, George.
-
But Tom, did you like it??
It was very tasty, but I did grab some Gas-X as soon as I finished.
-
Ah.
-
