Well, you've read the notes, the notes had twists, and now it is time for you to post until the twisty cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: AZIMUTH!
-
Topic of the Day: the only one that I can remember right now is The Sixth Sense. I did not figure that out at all.
-
I know that there must be others, but I can't think of any right now.
-
And now, I'm off.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning to everyone
-
The sixth sense was a good one even though it was laid out for you. I didn’t catch it either
-
Another great one The Usual Suspects
-
The mot disappointing one The Twist Around the Clock
-
The one I figured out and I didn’t have to see the movie The Village. M Knight Shymalan began to be known for twists and from the brief description about this movie I knew what it was
-
Another film I figured out was Primal Fear because at the time I was working on a tv series with an episode that had the same plot twist
-
Topic of the Day: the only one that I can remember right now is The Sixth Sense. I did not figure that out at all.
I agree!
-
And . . . Good morning, all!
-
It's chilly this morning and I did not want to get out of bed. The cats had other plans.
-
I had a lot of dreams, none of which I remember at all.
-
Today I have a part of the proposal for the recording project to read, along with a new budget from Dublin.
-
I am hoping, too, that I will have some word frm my accountant, now thathe has my correct tax forms.
-
I, too, dread Saturday's time change. I see no reason for it, and I think it's a dumbass waste of time and energy.
-
I forgot that Saturday night was the time change.....I'm glad I heard about it here on HHW.
-
I shall have to consider The Twists......
I think my favorite happens in [the original] The Manchurian Candidate when the real Commie agent is revealed......didn't see that coming.
"Why don't you pass the time by playing a little solitaire?"
-
Yes DR JANE - as DR JOHN G said the Hays Office or whoever was in charge at the time changed the movie ending of THE BAD SEED.
In the movie the mother survives her suicide attempt [with a bandage on her head she phones her husband and tells him she knows she will have to "pay" for what she's done]..... and Rhoda is presumed dead until she bounces through the door - then she sneaks out at night and goes to the pier to get the penmanship medal and gets struck by lightning!
In the play, the mother's suicide attempt is successful, and the cast sits around for a bit talking about it and Rhoda and we are to assume that Rhoda, too, is no more.... Then she bounces through the door and it's clear her murderous ways are going to continue.....
-
Good morning, all.
-
An okay sleep, with one of my bizarre dreams yet. The guys scheduled to go to China on this business trip couldn't, and I was next in line to go, myself, on just a few hours notice. This involved being handed a new blend of Scotch to sample (it was lovely) which might have been what the company I was working for had something to do with, and then finding my way back to my hotel room (room 909, I think) which was on a floor near 128 or some such - I had to yell for assistance from one of the employees in finding the room. I knew I had but minutes to shower, dress, and be ready to leave. The image of the corridors and room doors was unique and interesting, to me, though probably hard to describe.
Don't ask me where any of that came from.
A later dream involved a bunch of us (I don't know who "we" were) finishing up our meal at some interesting place (but I don't know what was interesting about it) and me telling everyone we have to get moving in order to pack up and be ready to leave on our return trip home. This one was apparently a car trip. Then we were outside and I forget what was happening there.
Enough! Oy!

Amen.
-
I am eating a NYC-style "black & white" cookie while I sip some Stew Leonard's "NYC Roast" coffee.
-
After a few nice days in the 80s, it’s cold and damp here today. Dreary.
-

Amen.
Yeah, no freakin' kidding.
(Not that I'm a person who goes around saying freakin'. I think you know what I really mean there.)
-
TOD:
The Last of Sheila comes to mind first.
The Sixth Sense
I figured out the twist in Knives Out but I enjoyed it anyway.
Parasite
Chinatown
The Sting
Vertigo
Oldboy

I read the original novel in junior high school. It scared the hell out of me.

Off to work.
-
Kitty cleanup is over. Three cars are cowed after my dressing down when their wrestling managed to overturn my teacart and everything on it. Thank God the coffee was not.
-
I left Murder by Death off the list. Not Neil Simon’s best, but I did not see the twists.
-
I also read the novel DR ELMORE and I think there was at least one homosexualist among the characters.
-
That's quite a couple of dreams DR CHAS SMITH.
-
Perhaps there is someplace - a college nearby - where the theeder could borrow some mikes......we often loan ours to the local college when they need a few extras for the opera/musical productions.
Production vibes for MR BK & co.
-
Yes, it is always strange to me that gas prices surge because of some event or other......when the gasoline that is being sold right now was made from oil purchased months ago at a cheaper price and processed almost as long ago.
The oil being purchased now will not reach our pumps as gasoline until summer at the earliest.
-
My sister Paula and I are having a meeting with the estate attorney this morning. I am hoping we get the okay to mail out a first check to the 24 heirs......a few of whom I am sure will make the Nellie Oleson face when they open the envelope.
Then this afternoon we are meeting with the tax people about the 2021 income tax.....

Goodness, there has been a lot of posting this morning. Usually, at this time of day, we are only halfway through page 1!!
Busy day!
-
I had a very nice night's sleep!
There is one unusual thing I experience in the mornings when in bed: I often hear the telephone ring. One time. One time only.
It's very annoying, and I'm never really sure I "heard" it ring rather than "dreamed" it was ringing.
-
A very annoying thing for me is television commercials, and sometimes the shows on TV.
They feature doorbell ringing. And the ringing is exactly like my doorbells.
VERY IRRITATING.
Sometimes, it's a telephone ringing that sounds like my house phone. And the characters on those shows just WILL NOT answer the phones, and I have to start wondering if it's MY phone.
Ticks me off mightily.
-
I wonder if DR Elmo has ever been in this situation?

Nellie Olsen!

I wonder if DR Elmo has ever been in this situation?
I have with one of the bird’s medications.

It is National Proofreaders Day.
-
A little bit of weekend photographic evidence.
-
As seen on the monitor behind us...
-
.
-
That's a nice space DR CHAS SMITH!
-
Yes, it's a nice college stage and auditorium. It's just too bad there's no orchestra pit.
-
Hence, getting ready backstage.....
-
Finally, in my own little corner...
-
I wonder if DR Elmo has ever been in this situation?
Truth. Haven't we all.
-
It is National Proofreaders Day.
That post looks okay to me, DR John G. You might want to run it by a few others.

Let’s move on …
-
Three!
-
Has anyone read the YA Aristotle and Dante books? There are two of them. Benjamin Alire Saenz is the author.
-
From DR John:
In the realm of it can’t get any more stupid, people are confusing poutine and Putin.
I saw that, incredible ::)
-
From George:
It was 45¢ per gallon off!
We also had the same discount at Fred Meyer.
-
The Criterion 50% off sale is going on for 24 hours. On the website.

Nellie Olsen!
She was my father's patient.
-
The actress, without the Nellie face :)
-
Good afternoon, friends.
-
I am almost caught up.
-
Great set up, DR ChasSmith. Thanks for the photos.
I have this irrational fear that if I use a device for my music, it will either malfunction or will lose a charge during the performance.
-
Better catch up on bk's notes, now.
-
Thank you for the photos, ChasSmith. Nice looking band.

Listening to a new poetic al translation of The Canterbury Tales that is uproarious. It’s like the poet grew up on Monty Python.

Been there!

My morning liesure went to hell fast: too much to accomplish on this possible project: proof this, email them, etc. Oy!

That’s why it’s National Proofreaders Day. Have your staff do it. Stella is a proofreader, right?

Thanks for the info, John!
I overindulged.
-
It is now afternoon is South Carolina.
-
The day has moved along.
-
I went to Sam's Club this afternoon. I needed a Haagen Dazs fix and local supermarkets were not stocked to satisfy my requirements.
I also picked up some Hershey's with Almonds bars, some Kerry Gold butter and some apple fritters, plus two (count 'em 2) Bistro salads. Southwestern variety.
-
It has been a very gray day here all day.
It's rather depressing, and I find myself turning lights on in every room just to brighten my life a little bit.
We are expecting rain today through the weekend, plus we may get a hard freeze either Friday or Saturday which spells trouble for the peach growers. ALL the peach trees are in bloom.
-
My lunch today came from Riley's on Main (on Calhoun Street).
I had lima beans, cheesy potatoes, rice with milk gravy (all right, I had two starches!!), and chicken tenders.
It was very, very good.
-
Right now, I'm fighting a terrific urge to nap.
I don't know why I fight it, but I do.
-
What if...
-
That's all I have for now.

What if...

I do not like when that happens, not that we really need ice cream.

Don’t mess with my ice cream.

Gratuitous post 100!
-
Hello, everyone.
-
I am scheduled for yet another outpatient surgery next Monday and have been busy all day getting ready for it. The surgeon's office has been understaffed for months. Their PA, who had only been there a month or two, left last September and they haven't been able to replace her. (I didn't really care for her. I think it was the red eyeshadow that I found off-putting.) I wanted to be sure they submitted my Rx orders pronto; I do not want to go into surgery without the appropriate meds.
-
Inflation, folks, is not just at the gas pump. Dollar Tree is now Dollar and a Quarter Tree. ($1.25 Tree, if you prefer.) Restaurant prices are going up, too. And then, a charity I support is asking not just for the usual $20 or $30, but $125!
-
Last night I watched THE CHELSEA DETECTIVE on Acorn TV. It wasn't bad. I'll watch it again.
-

I agree; I love him. This is beautiful.
-
I'm up, I'm up - I slept through the alarm - over eleven hours of sleep - I am so behind. Just ordered food and shall get crackin'.

Wow.

So true. I just correct my "no" to "not" on my original post.

I would think that a poutine is much easier to get rid of.

Did her face get stuck?

I am very impressed that McDonald's will continue to pay salaries for McDonald’s employees in Russia.

I needed a Haagen Dazs fix and local supermarkets were not stocked to satisfy my requirements.
I do not like when that happens, not that we really need ice cream.
Need? NEED? WANT is what drives me these days!
I am 73 going on 74. I have decided I will not deprive myself of things I love (in moderation, of course).

I am deeply heartened by so much of the world's support of Ukraine and the numerous charities supporting the refugees. It is truly heartbreaking.

The Olivier Award nominations are out. Andrew Lloyd Webber's latest, Cinderella, did not get nominated for best musical.
-
But Moulin Rouge and Frozen did.
-
Jessie Buckley got nominated for Cabaret. I'd like to see her in that.
She's up against Sutton Foster in Anything Goes, a performance I really didn't care for.
-
Andrew Lloyd Webber did not get nominated in the category for best original score or new orchestrations. But Rob Fisher did.
-

As I was driving to Costco tonight, I saw that gas had gone up to $3.99 a gallon. At Costco, the price was $3.54. I had to wait 20 minutes or more, but I listened to The Man of Law's Tale.

The Washington Post finally wrote Tony Walton’s obit. It’s good, but the writer thinks Ken Russell directed a movie called The Girlfriend.

Interesting. I would've thought that the show would be nominated for best show but not best score...even though I do like the score.

That's less surprising. ::)

Hi, George.
Hi, John.

Good night, all.
Good night, John.

T.O.D.
I was also going to say THE SIXTH SENSE. However I changed my mind.
I did a one-man show a few years ago titled WRECKS by Neil LaBute. I think that would be my first choice, and I think that even George might agree.
-
Surgery vibes for DR Jeanne,

I guess I drove George away.

Now, I drove myself away.

I guess I drove George away.
Never!

Topic of the Day Addendum: I made a DVD of the PBS showing of the Broadway revival of She Loves Me, and that kind of has a twist in it. I'd add that to my list of the twist. ;)
