Well, you've read the notes, the notes were proofed but had no pudding, and now it is time for you to post until the proofed cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ARCHETYPE!
-
Thank you, one and all, for six pages of posts!!
-
Topic of the Day: yesterday, I received from Barnes & Noble, Broadway by Day (https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/broadway-by-day-spencer-day/37465850?ean=0643157451358) by Spencer Day (I'd never heard of him before); and the 1981 Smithsonian Production "Complete recording of the score" to Rose-Marie (https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/rose-marie/37341702?ean=0632433380123), featuring Larry's former best friend.
-
Good morning, all!
-
DR George, unlike the Naughty Marietta release, Rose-Marie is complete, I love the score, its not too badly performed and conducted, but the script is completely ridiculous mess, which we mercifully do not have to deal with.
-
I slept well although the apartment was cold enough to hang meat in. "Make a Miracle," from Where's Charley? was the tune I could not shake all night.
-
DR JohnG, I had no idea the poster was so large. The framing looks great.
-
DR Jeanne, it's one thing for the doctor's office to screw up a prescription, but when the pharmacy receives it and doesn't fill it, I think it's time to find a new pharmacy.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
This morning, for no particular reason that is ascertainable to me, I started in on Strauss's Elektra. So far, a lot of shrieking.
-
But it is not an opera that I had previously been familiar with.
-
So there's that.
-
This day has 2 good things going for it so far: it's Friday. And it's payday.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Very weird and vivid dream. I was in war-torn Macedonia to attend the premiere of a children’s ballet based on a piece of music about the sunrise. I had suggested the music, so I had been invited to the premiere. The shelling was severe and it was looking dubious that the premiere would happen. But the folks wouldn’t call it off. Instead they complained their war just wasn’t getting the publicity that Ukraine was.
-

It’s not a happy piece, certainly not bouncy or peppy. More mourning than morning.
-
Kitty cleanup had a new chore this morning: kibble vacuum, and now the floor around their dry food dishes is very clean.
-
Tonight, Ann and Jen fly off to Bologna and Milan for two weeks. They deserve a nice break, and I hope everything goes well. I will miss them enormously, bur I will survive.
-
DR JohnG, I had no idea the poster was so large. The framing looks great.
It has a picture of every cast up to that point plus their names are all down the side, all the way down to Karen Ziemba. So, it is a toast to all of the lines.
-
Happy Friday, all.
I do hope it's Friday where you are right now. It's the eleventyeth day of March here in SC.

I was intrigued to read that DRJohn G is going to Greece in October. I am very jealous.
I lived in Greece for six months in the year 1975. I was actually assigned to Greece to work in the Armed Forces Radio Station at the fomer Hellenikon Air Force Base (which was alongside the international airport south of the city now called Ellenikon Airport).
However, a little incident in Cyprus between the Greeks and Turks...and the non-involvement of NATO (which should have gotten involved per its charter) ticked the Greeks off. They asked the Navy to remove itself from the port of Elefsis where we had six ships homeported. My job was to have been at the Air Force-controlled radio station as a representative of the Navy supporting the Navy community.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hellenikon_Air_Base
Ah, well. I had six wonderful months in Athens, and I took every opportunity to explore the city. I had an apartment in the community of Voula, also south of the city, but very near the air base where I was to have worked.
-
Good morning, all.
-
For fun...
-
As one of the all, I bid you a good morning, too, DRChasSmith.
-
And since you were all wondering...
Here we wait for yet another storm -- which, very fortunately, we are only supposed to get the rainy (maybe a little m*x) side of tomorrow. I must needs, sadly, join the panic shoppers today for the half dozen or so things I need.
-
As one of the all, I bid you a good morning, too, DRChasSmith.
And a top o' the morn' to the DR Ron Pulliam portion of the all.
-
I think the only contribution I can make to the TOD is that I watched the film version of Chicago for what I believe is only my third time -- I mean, to sit and really pay attention to it. I enjoyed it much more than I had previously.
-
Thankee, kindly.
It is another very GRAY day here in Johnston. I'm telling you, it's getting very tiresome having all these gray rainy days in a row.
If we have drought this summer, I shall no doubt rue making statements like the one above, but the psyche can only take so much.
I need some sunshine. Some brightness. Some light in blue skies.
-
One more post...
-
Page 2
-
And now, for my encore...
I got a busy day here, so I must take my leave. But I'll be back. Oh yes. You're not finished with me yet.
-
And I have not finished talking about Greece.
John G., I hope you will be doing Athens during your visit. Go to the Plaka!! It's wonderful, and it's at the base of the Acropolis.
When you see food stands and signs that read "Souvlaki", INDULGE. It's wonderful.
I love Greek food. In restaurants, make sure you try Tsatsiki, normally served with raw veggies.
Of course, you probably already know all this, but I'm excited for you.
-
I wonder who the ONE guest is?
-
I suppose I should get on with my day.
I have a cup of coffee to brew...and an apple fritter to warm up.
And it IS Friday.
-
DR Ron Pulliam, thank you for sharing your stories of
Grease the Musical Greece.
-
Thank you, Ron, for sharing the memories.
I have spent some happy hours in the Plaka. This trip, however, will be largely to the island of Kos. Maybe another island.
-
In my third meeting of the morning. And only an hour in.
-
Things are hopping here at HHW!
Trips, prescriptions, surgery, voice recovery, packages, symphonies, kitties, and Facebook groups for shows.
-
We got a bit of s**w this morning and more is expected before midnight then temps in the 11 degree range today and tomorrow and then up to the 50's for the Open House for the House That Must Be Sold on Sunday.
-
I am baking some eye of round thin slices with potatoes and green peppers....decided to bake instead of broil.....since I have plenty of time today.
I am thinking that our papers go to the new tax man today......hopefully DR JEANNE & I will both have a good experience.
Yes DR RON PULIAM I always think of SIGNS......always.
-
DR ELMORE you might post a photo of the cleaned up laundry room to show your appreciation to somebody......lax though they may be.
-
I've spent the morning cleaning up the manuscript of Annabelle & Thatch. Fingers crossed, a publisher has asked to see more of it.
-

The problem is, I should have done that yesterday. Today is too late. We have slobs in this building.

From TCB:
If it works like my car, you can’t lock the key fob in the trunk.
Even if it is the spare key and you are using the first key outside of the car.

You visited some beautiful countries while serving our country.
-
DR John we planned to go to see the kids in April, however, we had to wait for Bryan's schedule which was done unusually late. In the last two days prices have sky rocketed and convenient flights are gone. I hope you didn't have the same problem booking your flight to Greece.
-
It looks like we will be delaying our trip :(

I just looked at beautiful photos of Kos.

Coming 3/15/22!
-
Fingers crossed, a publisher has asked to see more of it.
Fantastic news, DR elmore3003!!!!
-
Coming 3/15/22!
Paul's an old friend. I wish the book much success.
-
I've spent the morning cleaning up the manuscript of Annabelle & Thatch. Fingers crossed, a publisher has asked to see more of it.
Wonderful news.
-
Well, dammit! My accountant won't have my taxes finished for another two weeks. That really pisses me off.
-

That’s why I bought them. Not higher than four years ago.

He was once a lively member of Facebook groups.
-
Very nice mention of you in castrecl today, Elmore.
-
I usher tonight for a local production of Hairspray.
-
Let’s get off this page …
-
One more …
-
Three!
-
I'm up, I'm up - six hours of sleep.
-
I'm interested to read the Paul Ford book, but that cover is the most amateurish thing and it's because it's "published" by a guy who some of us know that just decided he'd publish his own stuff. But if you're gonna do that then DO it right. I've thought about having a Kritzerland publishing thing but I'd have to do it right and that's the problem - it's not my field.
-
I've spent the morning cleaning up the manuscript of Annabelle & Thatch. Fingers crossed, a publisher has asked to see more of it.
That's great, Larry!

Darn. That's too bad, Jane.

Great, and very lucky for you.
-
Thanks George.
-
Very nice mention of you in castrecl today, Elmore.
Roger Grodski's Guys & Dolls post? I think they were the first group to perform the new materials with the full orchestration.
-
Well, after my optimism yesterday, the recording project took a real nosedive this afternoon.
-
I'm really not understanding this up and down with the recording project. Why is there so much drama? The people involved? Logistics? Money?
-
Guess I'll go pick up a package then go somewhere and have a meal and continue proofing.
-
I am truly sorry about your having to postpone, DR Jane.
-
~~~CONTINUED PROJECT MOMENTUM VIBES~~~ for DR elmore300!!!!!!!
-
Today's topic title keeps reminding me of the "Corn Puddin'" number from Schmigadoon!
-
Wow - I saw DR George's post the other day about the new round of free test kits. I placed my order. They arrived today.
-
Cool! Mine arrived on Wednesday.
-
:)
-
Vibes for DR ELMORE - project & book wise.
-
Yes my tests arrived today.
-
How can I be hungry at this time of day....
-
A rhetorical question obviously.
-
Two good NCAA Big Ten games this afternoon and two more this evening.
-
I am truly sorry about your having to postpone, DR Jane.
Thank you.
-
Those of you receiving the new round of covid tests, what did you receive and what is the expiration date?
-
When did you post that link about the tests, George. I’ve been too swamped to think straight.
-
I'm really not understanding this up and down with the recording project. Why is there so much drama? The people involved? Logistics? Money?
It has mostly to do with the fact that what I thought was the umbrella company now says no, and I am not enough business savvy to run an LLC.
I took that from Facebook so I am not sure everyone can see it. If you don't know, that container is for dog poop.
-
Apt, Jane. Very apt.
Truth in various forms...
Simply dreary day here today.
Major downpour at one point.
Gonna be very cold tonight and tomorrow night.
I fear our peach crops will suffer.
-
Hello to the three (count 'em 3) guests I see at the top of the page alongside myself.
-
elmore, e-mail me.
-
Back from picking up a package, lunch at Art's whilst proofing, and now finally home for more proofing.
Could use some of those vibes for a coworker dealing with a cancer diagnosis. And dealing with kidney stones, sciatica and more.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
My tax consultation with the new preparer went smoothly. He's in that very Jewish neighborhood on Pico near Doheny. NOT the high-rent neighborhood, like some accountants I've been to. I don't know if that area has a special name, but it's certainly a distinct community. He charged me $10 less than my previous guy and he's not swamped, despite having excellent reviews.
-
There's a bakery on the corner, so of course I had to check it out. I tried their rugelach, which was very fresh.
-
That is the Beverlywood Bakery. Keith's mother lived in the apartment building on Doheny behind the bakery. For a number of years it kind of went downhill, sold and became good again. I have fond memories of going there with my father, as well as to Factor's, to shop for our big Sunday brunches.
There was more tsuris over my prescription. When I called at 1:00 to ask if it had arrived I was told it had not -- AND that the pharmacy was closing early at 3:00. (They're closed on weekends.) The item was on the UPS truck, which was in the area, but they couldn't say when he'd arrive. The pharmacist and I worked out a back-up plan. I was lucky and learned that the local Rite-Aid had some in stock. UPS arrived in time, though, and I didn't need Rite-Aid.
I haven't given up on this mom & pop shop, though, because when I have questions they're good about answering, unlike Rite-Aid. I will allow even more time in the future, especially when special orders are involved.
Yes, it's still the Beverlywood Bakery. I don't think of that area as Beverlywood, though. I think of Bruce's old neighborhood as Beverlywood.
Vibes to John G's co-worker. At least Covid is almost over. The last two years have been a particularly bad time to be sick.
I expect this has gone viral.
I am pleased to have my tax information in the hands of a preparer and to have the prescriptions I need for Monday's little adventure. Talk about simple things becoming difficult!
True but it really isn't that far away ;)
I was impressed with Singdaw's success with the vocal exercises. Good news!
Weekend vibes to all.
TTFN.
I am pleased to know the rugelach at the bakery is still good.
At least Covid is almost over. The last two years have been a particularly bad time to be sick.
Just talked to friends in LA and his sister's family all have covid. The baby picked it up at daycare.
It isn't all that surprising. The baby was pretty sick while the others having been vaccinated have been pretty much ok.
My hairdresser has returned from maternity leave. Today I returned to her. She does such a great cut my hair still looked good after five months.
-
My hair is now 2 inches shorter :)
'night
-
Just checked, Jane. It's a pack of 5 tests; a completely different brand from the last time. The expiration date is listed as Dec 2022.
We've had some problems with the deliveries in MN because apparently if they're left in the cold for very long, it makes them less effective to non-functional. And you don't know how long they've been on a postal truck.
-
:)
-
Good night, friends.
-
Well, this is am interesting take on the Daylight Saving issue:
UW professor says year-round daylight saving time ‘would be like Monday morning every day’ (http://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/get-ready-to-spring-forward-into-daylight-saving-time-and-longer-days/)
-
We're at places...but holding.
-
Act one is going pretty well.
-
We held the house for about five minutes, and got started without any problems.
-
The audience is a little quieter than audiences last week, but they seem to be enjoying it.
-
It is my bed time. I make no mistake in stating this.
I am ready to dream sweet dreams.
Good night.
-
Good night, Ron.
-
We're now into act two!
-
Hairspray was fun, and it was a little different. Edna wasn't the only drag queen in the show. One of the Dynamite singers was also male. And I think there were a couple of girls as guys. That gave the production a lively feel.
-
There was a cast of more than 40 in the show, which was also really good. The director had a talk-back afterward. Said they worked seven weeks of evenings on staging it, with choreography work throughout.
-
The most interesting performance to me was the presentation of Velma Von Tussle. The actress in all her bigotry seemed to be channeling Marjorie Taylor Greene, which made her stupidity all the funnier.
In the talk-back, the woman who played her said, in her day job, she's a neurosurgeon who operates on people with Parkinson's. Guess being Miss Baltimore Crabs is a bit of stress relief.
-
There were about 100 people in a theater that seats about 150. Many of the patrons were in the theater group's youth program, and a generous patron had bought all of their tickets. So, I'm wondering about the appeal of Hairspray these days.
The show is also going to be part of the Broadway series that comes to town, along with Hadestown and Tootsie, which the ushers I know didn't care for.
-
Anyway, that's about all I know this evening.
-
But before I go ...
-
Let's push ourselves off this page.
-
Six!
-
Good night, all.
-
Hairspray was fun, and it was a little different. Edna wasn't the only drag queen in the show. One of the Dynamite singers was also male. And I think there were a couple of girls as guys. That gave the production a lively feel.
That's pretty cool!
-
I'm home
-
I stopped off at Fred Meyer and got some milk.
-
Then I came home and had some snacks bits for a light-ish dinner.
-
I drove through Burger King on my way to the theater, so I didn't want to eat too much after I left.
-
So, the Covid tests that I got through USPS both times are these:
-
The "Use by" date of the first two pairs that I got is July 11, 2022.
-
The "Use by" date of the second two pairs that I got is August 9, 2022.
-
I also bought this 5-pack from Costco and its "Use by" date is December 29, 2022, so those will be used last:
-
Truth in various forms...
Cute hat, Ron!
-
Those of you receiving the new round of covid tests, what did you receive and what is the expiration date?
One set has a 6/22 expiration, and the set I think is 9/22
-
I don’t know what is wrong with me. All my life, I have been a pacifist. But this slaughter in the Ukraine has truly driven me to the dark side. We can’t give the airplanes to the Ukraine’s Air Force because it would start World War III. No American boots on the ground because it would start World War III. So, what do we do? Just sit back and watch the Russians slaughter every man, woman, and child in the Ukraine?
-
I know. It's all pretty disgusting, if you ask me.
-
Tomorrow, I'm going to be involved in a reading of a show called Mrs. Bob Cratchit's Wild Christmas Binge by Christopher Durang.
-
This will happen in the early afternoon, long before tomorrow night's performance of The Bold, The Young, and The Murdered.
-
It seems like a real fun show.
-
I don't (yet) know if it's a full musical, but it has music by Michael Friedman and lyrics by Durang.
-
I'm reading Gentleman 1, who can also play Mr. Fezziwig, the Beadle, and Act Two Bartender.
