Well, you've read the notes, the notes revealed the new book, and now it is time for you to post until the revealing cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: TRANSCENDENTAL!
-
Great covers, BK...both of them. ;D
-
Good morning, friends.
-
:)
-
Love the idea of the forthcoming book and both covers. Can't wait!
-
Good morning, all!
-
It's very quiet in the apartment now that I'm sitting at the computer. While I was in the kitchen all I could hear were crashes and sounds of falling objects as Annabelle and Stella romped about.
-
DR singdaw, no, the book has no index.
-
I am looking forward to the new book. I'm not sure which cover I prefer, although I do like the big splash of red on the right,
-
I do like the big splash of red on the right,
I agree.
-
DR singdaw, no, the book has no index.
Thank you, DR elmore3003.
-
I'm waiting for the Kindle edition, available tomorrow.
-
:)
-
Good morning to all
-
Monday, Monday
Will it be good to me?
We shall see.

TOD:
I honestly recall only ONE food item from school lunches that I truly loved. Other kids did, too, and would trade their desserts or meat items for them:
YEAST ROLLS.
Somehow, the school cafeterias had a fabulous recipe for yeast rolls. You could smell them as you entered the cafeteria, and the taste of the rolls was phenomenal.

Catch-22

I am off to the chiropractor shortly.
To coffee or not to coffee, that is the dilemma facing me.
I feel coffee is the answer.
-
~~~BACK VIBES~~~ for DR Ron Pulliam!
-
:)
-
Procedure vibes for DR JEANNE & DR RON PULLIAM.
-
I am happy to read about the new book.....I guess I like the lights cover better because I'm not sure I read Christmas with the other one.....but the title does indeed clear it up.....
I shall be glad to spend some more time with the lead character.
-
And we've got.... you guessed it. Snow. Falling right now.
-
Good morning, all.
-
DR Jrand71, these are the other games we're watching...
-
LOL DR singdaw.....you got that right!
-
I have heard nothing about how the Open House went yesterday.....so.....perhaps we will have an offer sometime today....who knows?
-
I'm beginning to feel like DR ELMORE.
-
Good morning, all.
The covers are great. I first preferred the one with the Christmas lights, but I have defected to the other side. I think the one with the splashes of red are it, and that the other one will be perfect enhancing the blurbs.
-
I am back from the chiropractor. I took my coffee with me, and it kept hot going and coming thanks to my thermal cup.
It's very weird out there right now. It's supposedly 10:30 a.m., but it seems earlier. The sky is blue, and the sun is out, but it's low on the eastern horizon and it seems much earlier.
I know this will change in time. It's all about time. It's all about space. It's all about strange people in the strangest place.
Ooh! What a time warp.
-
It's Monday in Johnston SC.
Only one eating place is open in Johnston on Mondays, and that doesn't open until 11 a.m.
Sigh.
I passed a ton of places on my morning travels, including Wendy's, Hardees, Taco Bell, McDonald's, Kentucky Fried Chicken and a Zaxby's. I wasn't a bit hungry when I passed them, though.
Sigh.
-
Book cover choices:
I like the one with the lights. It denotes a specific season.
The other one says rain and a glaring tail light to me.
-
Carpe Diem!
-
So yesterday on my BookFace was a notice about a NEW BROADWAY SHOW WITH ALL KINDS OF AWARD WINNING PEOPLE INVOLVED AND IT'S SURE TO BE A HIT AND EVERYONE WILL LOVE IT IT IS THE SHOW WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR AND IT IS CALLED POTUS.
The more I read about it, the worse it sounded......I could certainly be wrong - but I'm not sure this is what we need now. I don't think I am particularly interested in it.....how can you satirize something that is already a parody of itself?
-
Back from the eye doctor. It was not a pleasant experience. I’m going to have to complain to my vision plan.
-
Good morning!
-
Book cover choices:
The one on the left is more Christmas-y. But I think I like the overall effect of he one one the right, looks more like crime scene in the rain.
-
Blepharoplasty, aka eyelid surgery, has been recommended.
I thought I couldn’t keep my eyes open because I’d lost an hour of sleep.
-
I'm up, I'm up - maybe five hours of sleep.
-
Back from lunch. BBQ ribs, lima beans, dressing and cranberry sauce, all washed down with a glass of unsweetened iced tea.
Then I decided that I wanted to walk.
The walk was good if a bit uncomfortable toward the end. I blame myself for not stretching sufficiently to begin with.
Right now, though, I feel quite good.
-
One thing about this morning bothers me: All the peach trees have lost their vibrant pink color. The flowers, such as they are, took a major hit from two nights of sub-freezing temps. Time will tell. There are still blossoms, but how severely damaged the crop will be I cannot ascertain.
-
On my way home from my walk, I took a turn through an old part of the Mt. of Olives cemetery, the town's oldest. There are many graves there from the 1800s. There is also an avenue of gravestones that read death date of 1918.
When I was in elementary school here in the first through third grades, I used to walk through the cemetery on my way home. I was always fascinated by the older markers, and I guess I still am.
Oh no, sorry.
Blepharoplasty, aka eyelid surgery, has been recommended.
I thought I couldn’t keep my eyes open because I’d lost an hour of sleep.
Now I know the trick to getting that covered by insurance, go super early so the eye doctor can see how bad I look in the mornings.
I much prefer the Christmas lights on the left. It probably will look different as a book cover, however, with my light sensitivity and my eyes hurting this morning, the one on the right looked like alien lights in the sky.
I knew I should have waited until this afternoon to open the notes. I usually do as they are easier for me to read then.
-
I shall now be on my way for a breakfast/early lunch with the brother.
Have read a few "local" Facebook posts about our peach crops. It appears they won't know the severity for a couple of weeks. In other words, things may be a little better than they fear.
Today has been Access-a-Ride hell day.
The morning pickup was for 9:30, and because of traffic the driver arrived around 9:55, just before I was about to call and cancel my appointment. However, the driver was fantastic, very protective in getting me in and out of the vehicle and across the street. He was one of the best drivers I've had.
The return trip was hell, partly because of traffic. I wanted an 11:30 ride vyr AAR gave me 11:52. The car showed up around 12:10, and because of traffic, it took over 30 minutes to cross town, Then, he picked up a second p[assenger, a crabby old unsocial lady. It was past 1:00 when I got home.
-
DR Jrand71, you cannot feel like me until that house remains unsold for at least five years! We're going pn fifteen!
DR TCB, I read this this morning and took heart:
There's aways hope!
-
That reminds me of the story about the Randy Vicar and the shower. He had hope in his soul... or was it... never mind.
-
DR elmore3003, glad you eventually got through all of that. Given some of your recent physical limitations, NYC can't be an easy place to get stuff done.
-
I hope so.
I pray that Francis Fukuyama has correctly predicted the outcome of this invasion.
On the rare occasions I ate inside the school cafeteria, my favorite food to eat was my own packed lunch. I can't recall ever liking the cafeteria food.
-
There was one item the school cafeteria made that I loved, the coffee cake. I purchased it almost every day at the outside booths where snacks were sold. Maybe lunches later on, but then I never purchased those.
-
The coffee cake was so popular that it is still talked about today.
-
I rarely liked the lunches I took to school because they were stale by the time lunch arrived. Mom’s homemade bread had turned to rock while meat or cheese had dried out. Olive spread was about the only thing that occasionally survived. Cafeteria food was largely unpalatable.
-
In elementary school, I was the "milk boy" - I sold the milk to my fellow students separately from the cafeteria line (why, I don't know). I remember my parents practicing with me to help me to learn to give the correct change. In any case, I was always last through the lunch line, so the kind ladies there always gave me a little extra. My favorite was the spaghetti.
-
I'm sure if I had the same thing today, I'd find it revolting.
-
Heck, I find milk itself revolting these days.
-
Back from a fun meal with the brother. We ate for an hour, then drove around the old nabe for another hour.
-
I'm glad you had that time, bk.
-
I remember being in line in the cafeteria, and eating lunches, in my first elementary school (grades 1-3), but not any of the food I ate. I know we packed a lunch some days and bought the meal there other days, but I can only take an educated guess that my sack lunches consisted of a sandwich and probably bananas or apples or cookies.
The one solid memory from that school cafeteria is when we kids discovered those flavored straws that made the milk taste like chocolate or strawberry. Suddenly those were all the rage, and aside from whenever we'd drink chocolate milk at home, those were probably the times I most liked milk itself. Somehow or other, my sister and I both grew up not liking plain milk.
Fast forward to high school, the other really solid memory for lunches. They had a separate section of the cafeteria line, every day, for hamburgers and hot dogs, and I loved those hamburgers. They were simplicity itself -- all I remember is just the patty on a bun, and putting mustard or ketchup on them -- but to this day I can picture them and taste them. Later, in my senior year, the few kids who had cars would go up to a mom-and-pop place and bring back their hamburgers and fries, and those were really to die for. I'd give anything to have those back. Or to figure out how to recreate a simple thing like a patty on a bun. You can't, really. It's the blend of beef, the way they were cooked, etc.
-
Lunch with a brother can indeed be fun.
-
TOD:
I liked the sloppy joe sandwiches on a hamburger bun....and the french fries.
The chicken and noodles were also pretty good.
I think my favorite was the Manhattan!
Go easy on the bitters.
-
One of my favorite drinks for when I am the designated driver is tonic water with bitters.
This is a cute story :)
LOL, I found it revolting back then, but then my mother's spaghetti sauce was incredible.
-
Bruce, Jeanne, how would you describe the outdoor huts we had for purchasing snacks? I attempted to find a photo and failed. Since I had them at my junior high as well as in high school I am guessing Jeanne also had them.
-
The lines went fairly fast in jr. high, however, at first they seemed longer and a bit more intimidating in high school. All those big older students compared to my 4'10'' and looking more like a 7th grader.
-
Of course nothing was going to stop me from purchased my, almost, daily coffee cake. Right from the beginning I tended to get the same woman. One day an old boy attempted to cut in front of me and she sent him away. Then she said to me I was the nicest student, always saying please and thank you with a smile. She told me to walk up to her line anytime, put my money down, and she would pass me my cake.
Point of Impact was an excellent book. If I saw the series I don't recall it.
I find it sad going past my house since they tore down the house next door. My house weirdly hasn't changed at all. The landscaping truly needs an update, or at least the trees trimmed.
Patsy's house looked nice last time we past it.
Did your brother have any friends on my street?
Strange night on the River Walk. The horrible restaurants are overrun with spring breakers. The good ones are closed on Mondays, have gone out of business or are remodeling. I ended up at a cheap pizza place. The gelati look good, so dessert is in the future.
The place is also around the corner from the theater.
The majestic Majestic. Waiting for Dylan.
The Majestic is beautiful.
I hope DR Jeanne is ok.
Covid cases in our county, as with most places, are drastically down. Before walking into the gym Keith mentioned our county also has the highest rate of covid in the state.
Needless to say, we put our masks on before going into the gym.
-
The majority of people, including the staff, are now maskless.
-
We will wait for the numbers to drop even lower, and to be sure they don't rise again, before removing our masks inside a building where people are working out and breathing hard.
-
I hope DR Jeanne is ok.
bk, have you heard anything?
-
I think that is very wise, DR Jane.
-
That recipe looks yummy, DR John G.
-
Enjoy the concert.
-
I sure hope the peach crops survive and thrive.
Is Dylan going to be singing from that balcony to the folks below?
I think that is very wise, DR Jane.
Jane, I don't think my brother knew anyone on your street.
Listening to the new masters, which I'll approve. We'll try announce on Wednesday.
-
Apparently the printing place screwed up the I Do! I Do! booklet - what we sent was correct. So, they'll reprint and we'll send to anyone who desires one.
-
Dylan is going to give Eva Peron a run for her money.
-
Thanks for the update on DR Jeanne, bk!
Well, there's some work for DR TCB and DR George to do, but it's not too shabby.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Thanks for the update on DR Jeanne, bk!
Yes. Thank you for the update.
-
Hi, Jeanne. Nice of you to show up.
-
As BK reported, my surgery today went smoothly. The surgeon had less to do today and it went faster and with less pain.
As for my rides, Elmore and I seem to be in competition for the worst experiences. I set my alarm for 6 am, but woke up at 3:30 and couldn't get back to sleep. Last week I had scheduled both rides for today, the pick-up this morning around 9 am. They usually come right away, but not today. When the time window had expired I phoned the dispatch agency hired by UnitedHealthcare. I receive 12 one-way trips per year to medical appointments at no cost, a benefit that I value. I was told that another driver would be dispatched, no ETA could be given, but the driver would be calling or texting me shortly. No contact. The surgeon's office called, said their first procedure took longer than expected, and could I come in an hour later. Yes! That is, if I manage to get there at all. This is when I discovered that when my new phone was activated somehow my Uber and Lyft apps didn't transfer. I tried Uber using my laptop, but their earliest ride was noon and I was due at 10:45. I then tried Yellow Cab, which I used back East. Yellow Cab is now automated. Parts of their new system are good and I was pleased at the flat-rate price of $21.00; Uber would have been at least $30. But, again, no ETA. Fortunately, the driver contacted me quickly and was nearby. I arrived right on the new time.
-
Even though the procedure went smoothly it left me with a headache (lying in an uncomfortable position) and feeling somewhat disoriented. The nursing staff has completely changed since my surgery a year ago -- partly due to Covid. I've always had very good nurses at that office and today's were good, too. Two male nurses attended, which surprised me a bit. They had glimpses of me that I don't normally share.
-
One of the admin staff was very helpful in calling to arrange my ride home. He was told that my ride would arrive in 10-15 minutes. No ride. He called two more times and was given the same information. After waiting an hour and a half I gave up and called Yellow Car. The same admin person escorted me downstairs and a Yellow Cab pulled up -- but it was silver. I suspect it's the driver's own, but I don't know. There was some confusion as their system got my name wrong, but we got it straightened out and he brought me home. As we chatted he said that a lot of drivers don't pick up the calls because they have so many no-shows -- but so do we! He just happened to be on his way to the airport and picked up the call.
-
I am glad this is over. I'm also very tired. I am heavily bandaged, walking awkwardly, and not allowed to shower or drive until Wednesday. Tomorrow will definitely be a recovery day. Who wants to socialize when you can't shower?
-
Hi, John G.
-
Thank you all for the vibes. They worked!
-
But next time maybe you could send a few transportation vibes as well?
-
Jane, I don't recall any place where we could purchase snacks in high school. Many kids went to a little store called The Cottage on Braddock Drive to buy that sort of thing. It's now back to a private residence.
-
Re the book covers: Although I like the one on the right it doesn't tell me anything about the book or why I'd want to read it (apart from the title). But the one of the left tells me more and draws me in. That's the one I'd buy and read.
-
Vibes to all.
TTFN.
-
But next time maybe you could send a few transportation vibes as well?
For you and Elmore both.
-
Dylan was in good form tonight. For an 80-year-old, he played 1:40 straight. No encore, but he had the crowd on their feet many, many times. He played a lot of stuff from his latest album, Rough and Rowdy Ways. It's very bluesy, which I like.
He stayed behind his upright and occasionally walked out to show off his costume. He also played some mean harmonica.
I wish I could share a photo of the legend, but there was a no-photo policy in effect, and they were strict about that. In fact, they threatened to expel a few people around me who defied them.
I didn't need the drama. I treasured the music.
-
I think I'm going to turn in.
Cool! Judy Collins was here a couple of weeks ago and she put on a great show, too.
I just popped in for news. I am glad it went well except for the rides.
-
Jane, I don't think my brother knew anyone on your street.
Thanks. I was just curious if my neighborhood was also part of his memories.
-
DR Jeanne I am very pleased you were able to post this evening. Such stress though getting there and back. I am glad it was less painful today.
-
Jeanne, well more than a single shack. It was outside with a few windows we lined up to purchase what we wanted. As well as the coffeecake people talk about the cinnamon rolls. They sold other food as well, maybe even fruit.
Jane's only four, count 'em, FOUR posts from 111,000 posts! :D
