Well, you've read the notes, the notes had decisions, and now it is time for you to post until the decisive cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: DRUTHERS!
-
Good morning, all!
-
BK, I had those Mozart pieces on speed dial! And now I must think about food.
Cauliflower
Chicken
Shrimp
Strawberry ice cream
-
DR George, I thought Nehemiah Piersoff had died years ago. I'm sure there will be another Druxy play for his "Actors You Thought Were Dead" series.
-
I have an Amazon Fresh delivery scheduled for delivery between 7:00 and 9:00a.m. Well, at 5:58, one hour and two minutes before 7:00, the deliveryman rang my apartment door. Since I had no idea had woken me, I refused to get out of bed to answer it. I just called Amazon to complain. I am not amused.
-
Good morning to everyone I hope everybody has a great day.
-
I am, however, a bit melancholy, this morning. I had a dream that I was working at Goodspeed, and one of the young men on the crew was Brad Johnson, who worked there the summer of 1998, and someone I was quite fond of. The dream was very strange, but I woke thinking of Brad. He moved to New York after his summer at Goodspeed was over in late 1998, and he worked on some scenery loading in for the Puiblic Theatre and a few other jobs. The last time I saw him, sometime in 1999 or 2000, he told me he was leavingleaving New York and I lost track of him. I have tried to locate him for years, just to know he was okay.
As Annabelle once told me, I don’t want to spend every day of my life wondering where you are, if you’re cold, if you’re hungry, if you’re happy, if you’re even alive.

The Cyrano is a “new version” so it may not be the play of which you’re thinking

APR 5—MAY 22, 2022
Cyrano de Bergerac
THEATER
US PREMIERE
THE JAMIE LLOYD COMPANY
BY EDMOND ROSTAND
IN A NEW VERSION BY MARTIN CRIMP
DIRECTED BY JAMIE LLOYD
“I FELL IN LOVE ALL OVER AGAIN WITH A PLAY I THOUGHT I HAD OUTGROWN”
—THE NEW YORK TIMES, CRITICS’ PICK
Direct from London’s West End, three-time Olivier-nominated stage and screen actor James McAvoy (The Last King of Scotland, Atonement, X-Men) makes his BAM debut in a radical new adaptation of Edmond Rostand’s masterwork by Martin Crimp, with direction by Jamie Lloyd (Betrayal).
McAvoy leads a superb ensemble in this “breathtakingly exciting” (Evening Standard) theatrical tour-de-force that captures timeless passion through spoken word, contemporary poetry, and raw physicality. Cyrano seduces in raps and rhymes, using his linguistic brilliance to help another man win the heart of his one true love—above all—championing his own unbridled love for words.
Winner of the Olivier Award for Best Revival, the Jamie Lloyd Company’s latest production blazes into the Harvey Theater to celebrate Cyrano’s powerful resistance against overwhelming odds.

I have grave concerns about this production as I am a bit of a traditionalist stick in the mud but my friends were anxious to see it.
-
They’re also big fans of James Macavoy
-
I myself had no idea who he was
-
Although after some googleing I realized I had seen him as young Patrick Stewart part in that XMen thing Vixdad was watching when I wandered through the living room that time
-
Obviously I’m a big fan
-
Well it appears I did not become enormously wealthy overnight
-
So I guess I had better get myself to my job
-
Have a lovely day y’all
-
Good morning, all.
-
I wish you would become enormously wealthy overnight, Vixmom. I think it would suit you.

The French film with Gerard Depardieu at Cyrano is absolutely stunning and heartbreaking.

Another gray wet-looking morning, and Alexa tells me it's a mostly cloudy day. I have her programmed for Johnston.
In case anyone doesn't know, "Alexa" is the Amazon Echo entity that fills me in on lots of stuff when I ask nicely and concisely.
-
Favorite fast foods to eat while listening to Mozart.
Fruit cups — these are a local thing, I think, filled with watermelon, pineapple, cucumber, strawberries and more, topped with chili salt and lime
Popeyes spicy chicken
McDonald’s buttermilk chicken tenders, when they have them
McDonald’s ice cream
I think the Queen of the Night’s aria would be good accompaniment.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I truly could have slept in another couple of hours, but when one has a painter arriving between 8:30 and 9, it's advisable to be alert and have the garage open so he can get to his tools.
-
A rapping Cyrano? Why not?

Let’s move on …

Two!
-
Well it appears I did not become enormously wealthy overnight
Crap. I was going to hit you up for a few bucks.
-
It is 8:50 AM. Do you know where your Mozart is?
-
Just for fun...
-
TOD: I used to love those hot apple pies McDonald's sold. And sometimes, they'd have hot cherry pies. Yum.
But I have been told they no longer sell either item. I haven't been to a Mickey D's in five or six years, so....
-
TOD 2: I do enjoy stopping by a Taco Bell and getting a few taco supremes with mild sauce.
-
I could truly snooze a bit longer. Perhaps I'll nap in my chair.
-
Vegas flight vibes for MR BK.
-
That looks interesting DR VIXMOM and I like James McAvoy.....
-
House showing today at 6 p.m.
I am going to lunch with a cousin to give her her check.....and one for her sister. Those who have received their checks were very happy, except for my brother who had plans for his - which exceeded the amount.......
That's the way it is sometimes.
-
I'm going by the house to turn on some lights to make it "welcoming" and sweep the sidewalk and carport.....then stopping by the insurance company to cancel the coverage on the wooden truck......
-
I like more fast foods than the law allows, and I could name my one or two favorite items from every chain or independent place I've ever known, but it would take a while to compile such a list. Right at the top, though, and mostly out of the past:
The Dolores Drive-In in the 1970s, for their cheeseburgers, Suzy-Qs, and cherry lime rickey. Gotta wonder how many times I had that meal. Royal Castle in the 1960s, for their cheeseburgers, chili, and birch beer. The best White Castle-styled burgers EVER, and other items of excellence that WC never had. The hot dogs and a Julius from Orange Julius stands in the 1970s. Chicago hot dogs and Italian beefs from many many many mom-and-pop jernts around Chicagoland. (That's out of the past only for me, it's all going strong there.)
The list goes on. And on.
-
Well, back to the factory. Hey, we might even have ugly stepsisters (speaking of malcontent relatives and heirs) singing with us today, who knows.
-
Since they don’t have any parlors down here, I can’t believe I forgot Skyline Chili. And White Castle (thank you, ChasSmith).
-
Oh heavens yes, Skyline. (And for me, Gold Star. Like the song says, I love the one I'm near.)
-
Thanks to the Washington Post, I have a new term in my slang vocabulary. In a story from Down Under, a man is said to have sung, “I killerated old Paddy.”
-
Oh heavens yes, Skyline. (And for me, Gold Star. Like the song says, I love the one I'm near.)
Amen.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
DR George, condolences to you and your family, especially your Aunt.
-
As far as the staging concept for Mamma Mia!, when you're singing into that mic, just think of yourself as Marni Nixon.
-
Or Kathy Selden.
-
Or both, if you can do that Tuvan throat singing thing.
-
The Tuvan throat singers sing ABBA.
-
Thursday morning greetings! Yesterday, Richard and I went to an IN-PERSON lecture at Miami University-Hamilton. We hadn't attended an in-person event for more than 2 years and it was kind of surreal.
-
The Tuvan throat singers sing ABBA.
I expected a YouTube link when I signed in...
-
DR George, condolences to you and your family, especially your Aunt.
Thanks, Singdaw.
-
Wonder of wonders!
It is now partly sunny in Johnston SC.
-
Does anyone sing "Toot Toot Tootsie" any longer?
-

Or Kathy Selden.
I'll do that! :))

I've called Santa Fe Opera and Goodspeed in my efforts top track down Brad Johnson. Both offices were concerned about privacy issues. If I could get a hometown for him or a school, I could expand try a Facebook search. For some reason, this has become my obsession today. Damned dreams.

I’m sorry to disappoint. And again, I hope the world is free of this.
-
There are plenty of videos on how you, too, can be a Tuvan-style singer in three easy steps. But they don’t sing ABBA.

DR George I am sorry for the loss of your cousin, and my condolences for your aunt :(

I wish you would become enormously wealthy overnight, Vixmom. I think it would suit you.
From your mouth to God's ears as they say
-
George my condolences to your aunt and your family on the loss of your cousin
-
We've been to FiveGuys a few times in the past couple of months, so I guess that's fast food
Not as fast as the other burger joints as they cook and dress the burgers to order
Does Panera count as fast food?
-
This day has turned insanely gorgeous.
I feel guilty looking out a window. I feel I ought be outside in it.

Darn it is turning wet and miserable tomorrow.
-
Well, so much for going outside. Just saw a weather advisory that says there is a danger of High UV out there today. Advising sunscreen, etc.
-
If it's not one thing, it's another.

This is likely very true!
-
Pretty much, Ron. :D

It's official!
Jackson confirmed as first Black female high court justice (https://apnews.com/article/ketanji-brown-jackson-supreme-court-confirmation-f39263cdbb0c59c8a20a48edf9b6786e)! ;D
-
And I hope the idiots who grilled Jackson with their specious lies all rot in hell where they belong. I don't care what party you belong to, to trot out those lies to rile up your base so they'll vote for you is disgusting and reprehensible and frankly it should not be tolerated - it's like high school - worse.

I'm up, I'm up - almost eight hours of sleep.

So, the flight I thought I'd booked and which was on the site under my account with a confirmation code, did not book because the cc payment didn't go through, which I knew because I got that screen and no confirmation e-mail - still, why was there a confirmation code? This morning, the confirmation code was gone with the wind, but I had it written down because I'd e-mailed them when it happened. I attempted to book the flight again with the same result - cc wouldn't go through. AND, it was twenty bucks more money. So, I called and booked over the phone - they wouldn't give me the same deal as last night, but all the airlines are the same price now because it's less than a week away - it's actually outrageous. I couldn't get the seat I'd originally booked because - I'd just attempted to book online and had reserved those seats - amazing. I was trying to get one of the single seats on the left in row two - but, now I'm in row one on the aisle with one person next to me. That seat, however, is still open and I hope it remains so. I can also try and change the seat when I get there or even on the phone when their stupid computers actually update. I've never flown this airline before - JSX - it's a Jet Blue partner, so I'll get the mileage points - but it's kind of a private plane - you don't go to the main terminal, but the hangar where the plane is - no TSA, only ten rows, thirty seats. Donald Feltham says he's flown this airline several times and really likes it, especially the fact that you're fine getting there twenty minutes before a flight. Of course, the cc went right through when doing it on the phone, so clearly their site is screwed up.

“‘Girls in white dresses’ — a song written by an old man.”
So says the Lolita character at the beginning of the novel, Vladimir. She ain’t talking Putin, baby.

-
TOD:
White Castle - cheeseburgers
Wendy's - Baconator
MacDonald's - Big Mac
Big Boy [no longer in operation here]: my favorite of all time The Brawny Lad
Long John Silver
-
I have yet to try Popeye's Chicken.....I am afraid it might be too spicy for me.
-
Congrats to MR BK on booking his flight.
-
I used to love that chocolate shake thingie from Wendy's that DR TCB mentioned the other night. Haven't had one in about 15 years, though.
-
BAM where DR VIXMOM is going used to be the home school of Professor Herschel Garfein who premiered his opera version of ELMER GANTRY there a few years ago......I believe he has now moved on to the University of New York....
He is of course the son of director Jack Garfein and Carroll Baker.
-
The new Jeopardy champion is most irritating in manner and speech....someone let me know when she finally leaves so I can start watching again.....
-
GHOSTS and YOUNG SHELDON are reruns tonight.....
-
My cousin Carol and I had lunch - or did I write that already. We went to Blueberry Hill Cafe where I had the Western Omelet which was most excellent.
She brought me some historical papers from our grandparents which were very interesting to read. And the signature books from their funerals - all of the signatures of the now dead folks was most sobering to read.....
-
Very cloudy here today. I should be working on my song for Sunday....but I have two days.....
-
I ordered my Tea Tree oil which is very good at getting rid of skin tags, although it does take awhile.....
-
I am hoping we get some communication from folks who receive their checks tomorrow or Saturday.

Condolences to DR GEORGE & Family.
Thanks, Jrand.

They have not-spicy options

Jrand, while Popeye's does have spicy, the mild has no spice at all and is excellent.

In the heart of the Midwest? That is a CRIME, sir.
-
Thank the gods for Justice Jackson. That pretty much makes my day.
Well, I'm also happy to have just bought a Yamaha FC-7 volume control pedal at Guitar Center (for forty buck$), something I've kind of intended to do for the past several years. That made my day, too. But the news of Justice Jackson supersedes that, big time.

My nephew Herman passed out at school yesterday and fell. He broke a cello and hit his head on the floor. He's in intense pain right now, so some vibes for him would be appreciated. Saw a photo of him in a neck brace. Does not look nice.
-
The cello was destroyed.
-
Thankfully, it was not an expensive one.
-
Starting to watch House of Gucci. Al Pacino is inhaling too much glue these days.
-
The rest of the movie is just silly.
-
Has anyone read the reviews of the new musical, Suffs? They're all over the place. I have no idea if it's worth anything, but I like some in the cast, like Nikki James and Jenn Collela.
-
So, House of Gucci features a hilarious duel of bad accents from the main actors, as you may have read, but to hear bad Italian from the bit players is ridiculous. In a sunlit scene at a factory that's followed by an even brighter sunlit scene, someone says, "Buona sera."
I guess the director didn't care if his audience could speak guidebook Italian.
-
I need to go to bed.
-
Good night, all.
-
So sorry to hear about your DN Herman, DR John G. Glad that it wasn't worse.
~~~SPEEDY AND COMPLETE RECOVERY VIBES~~~ for him!!!!!!!!
Hi, Tom.
-
It seems like it's getting a bit windy around these here parts.
Not very windy, just a bit windy.
-
My weather app shows some rain overnight, but not high winds...fortunately.
High winds are noisy, which makes it difficult to get to sleep.
