Well, you've read the notes, the notes were back in the saddle again, and now it is time for you to post until the back in the saddle again cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: CONSTRUE!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I had planned to sleep in. Three cats had other ideas.
-
Well, DR JohnG, I sure hope you can find that "Jack the Ripper" CD. It's no longer for sale on the Stage Door Records site, and it's not on the Amazon or Amazon.co.uk. I guess itr's now out of print.
-
I must figure out today how to get that huge carton from the bottom of the stairs up to the lobby and into the apartment. I want that UPS shithead dead at my feet for dumping it there.
-
I may vacuum the apartment today, if the carton in the lobby doesn't kill me first.
-
Well, that Pacific Northwest Ballet project appears to be mine, but I'll be much happier when a contract shows up.
-
Good morning to all.

Audience vibes for a full house tonight

Today I am going to a gaming convention with Vixdad
-
Received notice that the Blondie show we were going to on Thursday has been postponed
-
No new date given
-
We had left over chili last night
-
It really is better the next day after all the flavors had a chance to meld
-
Chas, there’s one serving left
-
If you show up while we’re out at the convention it’s in the Pyrex glass container, bottom shelf, left side
-
Chees, sour cream and guacamole are all in there somewhere too
-
In the refrigerator, not the pyrex
-
I am afraid all the lime tortilla chips have been eaten
-
As has the last fresh tomato
-
Currently enjoying a decaf with hazelnut creamer
-
Having just consumed a lightly toasted, sesame seed, brioche bagel with cream cheese
-
It was lovely

The only ones I would ask are Ann and Jen, who are away for the weekend.

Good morning, all.

Erratic sleep, some of it caused by sore arm from booster shot.

I had my glasses off so I thought DR JOHN G got a lobster shot.

That chili looks GOOD!
-
It does, indeed.
-
Good morning, friends.

DR ChasSmith has given me an idea. Just post random album covers, with no comment or context.

Like this one:
-
St Joseph did his job - our realtor messed it up.
DR JEANNE I called our realtor Roger because of the cartoon in from yesterday of a cymbal player in the orchestra.....with only one cymbal.
We received a very GOOD offer - contingent on the buyers selling their house with 21 days and if we get another offer, they had 48 hours to meet it or step away and their house had to go on the market on Monday.
Our realtor decided that we should only give them 24 hours and their house had to go on the market that afternoon - yesterday.
They walked away - we gave them an out and they took it. ALL OUR FAULT - I should have told the realtor NO - but you think someone you are paying all that money to knows what she's doing....
Ya think? I don't think we'll get an offer that big again.....
-
That really stinks, DR Jrand71.
-
Saturday.
Yesterday my new [to me] phone arrived. I couldn't figure out how to get it working. My sister and I took it over to the Verizon store about a mile away. The guy there took the SIM card out of my old phone, put it in the new phone and DONE!!!
iPhone 7 - which isn't near the latest and greatest - but it is newer than my iPhone 5!
-
Oh that's a great idea DR singdaw.

That's pretty scary.

-
And L-R: DR JANE, DR JEANNE, DR GINNY, me!, and DR VIXMOM.
-
Oh my! ;D
-
That's quite a gallery, DR Jrand71,
-
I just made a list of all the things I want to accomplish this weekend. There is simply not enough time. I'm going to have to lower my standards, I think.
-
Good morning.
-
I also received a booster shot yesterday. I woke up this morning at 3:40.
-
I am flying to California in three weeks, so I thought since I qualify for the booster, I should get it.
-
So far just a sore arm.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Once again, some more very entertaining posting here this morning.
-
Well, that Pacific Northwest Ballet project appears to be mine, but I'll be much happier when a contract shows up.
News of this sort is always good. Vibes for a quick arrival of that contract.

Mine chili
Oh, my.
You know, I could eat that -- right on top of the corned beef hash and eggs and rye toast I just ate.
-
Jack: I don't quite understand what your realtor was getting at. If you had a great offer, and the contingency was giving the potential buyers 21 days to sell their house -- and there was a provision that if you got another offer higher than theirs that they would have the opportunity to match or better -- what on earth was he thinking? The house would STILL BE SOLD within three weeks, yes???
As it stands, you have no offer on your house, and the potential buyers will look elsewhere.
I hope your realtor gave you a really good explanation of why he did what he did. It's possible, I guess, that the market is so hot that he's certain he'll get a quick sale at asking or better price.
-
DR Jrand71, when I knew I was moving from L.A. to Connecticut in 1989, I (and my "silent partner" friend who had helped to finance the condo for me) put my West Hollywood place up for sale, and got an offer on the first day it was shown ... for the asking price (which we'd expected to come down from), with a $5,000 deposit attached, from a TV producer who was buying it for his kid. It fell through a couple of days later when the disclosures revealed that the "popcorn ceiling" hearkened back to when those things contained asbestos (even though deemed safe as long as you didn't try to get rid of it improperly) because it just happened that the guy was a crusader against such environmental threats.
That doesn't parallel your Roger story, of course, because this agent was expert in getting that offer from an industry person. Just my li'l contribution to the trials and tribulations of trying to sell something.
-
Happy Saturday, sundry folk!
-
FINALLY, WE HAVE ALL THE EVIDENCE WE NEED.
DR Jrand71's album covers PROVE that, contrary to the government's denials, we were indeed visited by aliens in the mid-20th century. They simply hadn't yet perfected their human forms. But even then, they mostly "passed" successfully among the faithful.
I'll bet you most of these specimens were eventually rounded up and live on, to this day, in their cages in Area 51.

It is beautiful outside in Johnston, South Carolina. Temperature is a moderately cool 46 degrees with an expected high of 54 degrees.
At least the storm system was blown away even if by a cold front.
I just won't be running around in shorts for a while.
-
P.S. to Jack:
Good luck and good fortune on the potential sale. Your realtor may know exactly what he's doing.
I share your nervousness, but one must yield to the professionals.
-
Laugh, clowns, laugh!

Last night, in a return to form, I had two (2) whopping classic dreams.
The one I briefly woke from at 4:00 AM was of the former workplace variety, with workmates and bosses and travel and my tardiness in showing up for something and I don't know what the hell else.
The other, at 7:00 am, was a musical classic, concerning a concert of some kind that was about to commence, of which I had barely any idea what I was doing in it, which also seemed to include a new production of Smorgasbord!. It then morphed into my having to round up a band for future shows. That last part clearly is about our production of Carrie in the fall, which I must recruit for.
-
Tomorrow afternoon I'm driving up to SUNY New Paltz to see the closing performance of a friend's production (he's the MD and pianist) of Songs for a New World, something I've listened to but have never seen. That will be different and, I trust, fun.

I caved and turned on the AC a couple days ago. In April. Early April. We've never done that before.

Some good neighbor in the building carried my large carton up the steps and lewft it at the mailboxes. I was able to slide it into the elevator and bring it up. It's currently sitting outside my door.

Show vibes for MR BK & Co. Hoping for large applause and hefty mitts.
-
DR RON PULLIAM as the realtor explained to me - it was felt we might miss out on a larger offer if we had to wait 48 hours for the people who made the offer to counter......and she wanted their house listed as soon as possible.
It seems that the couple were having second thoughts and so our counter was the perfect opportunity for them to bow out......some circumstances were making them nervous.....trying to get their current house ready for showings, etc. So I am thinking they would have bailed anyway and I guess it's just as well they did it now as two or three weeks down the line.....

I'm really enjoying my friend David's new autobiography. He's a wonderful storyteller.

At first glance, I thought I read "Mein chili"...like what would be served at the Kit Kat Klub. ;)

I shall shortly be on my way to perhaps have a little salad and conversation, and then I'll mosey on over to the theater around six-thirty

My home sale story:
When I put my beloved Old Town Alexandria home up for sale, my realtor, a bright woman who I respected, recommended that I list it at the price I wanted to receive -- no higher -- and let it get bid up. I objected. The market had plunged a year before and was still iffy, even for prime real estate, which this was. My strategy was to price it 10% higher, and be prepared to sell at my desired price. She didn't agree, but I found her approach too risky and prevailed. As it turned out, the buyers were both tax attorneys who didn't believe in overpaying for anything, and one of whom seemed to think he was pretty smart, despite being a first-time buyer and making some obvious mistakes. They offered me 10% less than asking price, plus a couple conditions. I accepted, but could have done without his demands, which would have been met anyway. I felt like telling him that there's no need to go into attack mode -- just communicate your needs and we'll try to oblige. Perhaps he felt he needed to show us how smart he was. I was glad I stuck to my original approach; there were no other offers.

Good one, George.

Contract appearance vibes for Elmore.

BTW, that house had a small, paneled library. One wall was floor-to-ceiling bookcases, with cabinets below. It still wasn't enough for all my books, but a really charming room.

Good night, friends.

I'd like to have a house with a library. Wouldn't you?
I would, indeed! One just about that size, too.

It is also my bedtime, but I wanted to let you know that I participated in a three-hour Zoom symposium this afternoon on "The Music of Miklos Rozsa".
There were amazing panelists, including Rozsa's daughter Juliet and granddaughter Nicchi. Leslie Zador, the son of Rozsa's primary orchestrator, Eugene Zador, was a participant. Also, Jeff Atmajian and Daniel Robbins were panelists, as was Gayle Levant, the president of the organization known as ASMAC - the American Society of Music Arrangers and Conductors. Another ASMAC official moderated. About 160 people were in attendance.
-
It was quite an interesting, informative (about things of which I was unaware, that is) and entertaining three hours.
The passion of the panelists was quite thrilling. Samples of Rozsa's work were played and there were photos of Rozsa through the years. Quite a bit of time was spent in a discussion of Rozsa's magnum opus "Ben-Hur" (1959) for which he won his third Oscar.

I injured myself earlier today. Pulled a muscle in my back.
-
My dance teacher, Joy, studied massage and she stood on it at the right spot. It worked while we danced. I had no problems with my back.
-
When I tried getting into the car later, the back started acting up again.
-
Five!
-
I came home and realized I needed to make my dessert for bible study tomorrow.
-
So, for the last 90 minutes or so, I've been making an Osterkuchen.
It's an interesting cake. Kind of like cheesecake, except the feeling also has currants, rum and saffron in the filling. It looks good.
-
It needs a few more minutes in the oven.
-
Just finished taking my COVID-19 test for work next week. I don't have it.

John, you're heading to a momentous millstone!
-
Today at my mom's, after our family lunch, we didn't play Phase 10, we played Aggravation.
-
We play that every once in a great while, but Phase 10 is played much more often.
-
I won the first game! ;D
-
And then, I came in second for the second game. :)
-
Back from a good show with about two-thirds full crowd - they haven't had these kinds of audiences in ages. I did have to laugh that two GRT members bailed at intermission. They're both writer/directors and both are hyper serious, over dramatic, no humor allowed types - I think he's the real culprit in terms of that and of course that would color her views. Having seen stuff by both I know their deal. But, next time I come to something they've done I'll be sure to leave halfway through - what's good for the goose, etc.
-
You do what'cha gotta do, BK. ;)
-
This afternoon after leaving my mom's house, SHHH!! DON'T TELL ANYONE!!...I printed my own copy of my Mamma Mia! libretto vocal book.
-
That way, I can write all over it and not have to worry about erasing everything.
-
It was late enough after lunch at my mom's, so I went to the local Meconi's Subs and had my usual half-Combo Cosmo-style (which is toasted...except they didn't toast it...but it was still good) and went through and wrote all of my notes and blocking in my new copied libretto vocal book.
-
Now, I just have to carefully erase everything from the rented copy.
-
Just a few minutes ago, I bought a ticket to see tomorrow's last performance of Evergreen Playhouse's production of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (https://evergreenplayhouse.com/events/cuckoo-2022).
-
My friend Ryan is playing Randle P. McMurphy.
-
He's a really good actor...he can be very intense when needed.
-
We've done several shows together and he's a really nice guy.
-
My nephew is sore, but he returned to work today.
I guess I do need to use my cheaters. I thought that said, My elbow is sore, but it returned to work today.

I'd like to have a house with a library. Wouldn't you?
I think these people have a library with a house.

Well, that Pacific Northwest Ballet project appears to be mine, but I'll be much happier when a contract shows up.
That is terrific, unless you have to deal with a gentleman named Bruce Wells. Actually, it would still be fine, as long as he doesn’t know that you know me.
