Well, you've read the notes, the notes were like old friends with an emphasis on the "old," and now it is time for you to post until the old cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: QUASAR!
-
A non-Wednesday question for BK: how's the book coming? :)
-
Today, I'm going to see the last show, the last matinee of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, put on by Evergreen Playhouse, who is producing Mamma Mia! that I'm rehearsing.
-
I've never actually seen any of their shows, so I thought that since I know a couple of people in the cast, I should actually see one of their shows...so I shall.
-
But first, sleep.
Have a good day, all!
-
Finally got the last of the blurbs so now it's full speed ahead.
-
Good morning, all!
-
Good morning, friends.
-
I had ABS last night, and around 11:00 I went digging for my score to Sweet Adeline. In the process I discovered the cats have made a large mess of thngs that I must clean up today.
-
DR John G., good news about the dear nephew.
-
I only got about 3.5 hours of sleep last night. Insomnia is cruel.
-
But Palm Sunday calls.
-
BK, I am very happy you and your friend Ira have reconnected. I'm hoping that I can resolve my search for the elusive Brad Johnson by the middle of the week.
-
Today, in addition to singing, I am the voice of Jesus in the scripture reading.
-
I had a bad night of sleep. I remember one dream: I was in the old video-rental shop at 81st and Broadway, looking at French DVDs. In the past 40 years, that space has been a hardware store, then aVHS rental that converted to DVDs, /when that folded, it became a nail salon that Phyllis Newman frequented.
-
I forgot to post about the TOD yesterday.
Petrushka (original version, not the 1947 simplification)
'The Firebird
Pulcinella (complete ballet with songs as well as the suite)
The Rake's Progress
-
DR John G., good news about the dear nephew.
Ditto!
-
Good morning
-
These are my lines:
-
Not really.
-
I am happy to hear some kind soul brought Elmore’s package up the stairs to the mailboxes, would they had brought it to the apartment door, but I expect that is too much to hope for.
Is it possible to get the shipper to include special instructions on your orders that read “must deliver to apartment door”?
-
Back vibes for John
-
I wish I could see pictures of Jeanne’s old home in Old Alexandria.
I fell in love with that place when my niece lived there.
-
She’s since moved to Georgia
-
Yesterday was a lot of fun at the game convention
-
Unfortunately we were too late to sign up for a couple of the RPGs we wanted to try but we did join one that was fun , played some old favorite board games, learned a couple of new ones and discovered a game that is apparently a tournament sport in the UK, Canada, Australia and NZ.
-
We also ran into a bunch of old friends
-
So a day well spent
-
Today is indeed, as has been mentioned before, Palm Sunday
-
Back vibes for John
DOUBLE DITTO!
-
I dressed the altar and prepared all the communion supplies in Friday evening as I knew I would be tied up all of Saturday
-
The DH is playing William Mathias's "Processional" this morning. A jaunty little trumpet tune.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-q8IlecTSA
-
Today I’ll be acting both as lay reader and communion assistant
-
I have been drinking my coffee, and catching up here, but must think about getting myself ready for the day
-
But first I must Wordle

Sadly, no. The shipper was my publisher returning 30+ lbs of scores of mine. I did not know how he was shipping them
-
Good morning, all.
-
I had ABS last night, too, and that was after almost falling asleep flipping channels on the tube between 10:30 and 11:00.
Does anyone ... still say ... tube?
I was still trying to get to sleep at 2:00, which I guess happened shortly thereafter. And then I wake up at ... 6:00??

DR Elmore, that reminds me, I was recently trying to find a copy of your arrangement of “Our Time” to purchase, with no luck. Can you direct me to that, if it’s available? Besides getting one for myself, I want one to show to a choral director friend who would do beautifully with it.
-
Yesterday I got some good proofing and editing and tweaking done on the Cinderella programming. I have another hour or so to go on that, and maybe I can get my ASS into the Music Room and do it before heading out to New Paltz.
-
This programming was done just in time for us to be the first ones to use it, and my proofing of it turned out to be so extensive and time consuming that the folks who license it aren’t even going to charge us for the rental.
-
BK, I can’t believe those two Group Rep directors who left at intermission. That would be unheard of in these parts when it comes to directors supporting each other’s work, whether at their “own” theater or any of the others.
-

As soon as Tommy Valando - Steve's publisher - died, his company went out of business and his catalogue went to Warner Chappell, it was taken out of print. I will email you a pdf and I encourage you to get performances. I will never see a royalty, but i'd sure like to say "screw you" to Warner Chappell.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Thank you for the vibes for both Herman and me.
-
I took a couple of aspirin when I finally got to bed at about 12:30. They helped me sleep without pain.
-
Happy Sunday to one and all. There's a new Broadway Radio Show up on the site...Phil Geoffrey Bond joins me to chat about the Sondheim Unplugged albums and concerts. Interesting chat and, of course, some great Sondheim songs!

Back in 2011, I think, when we did that tryout run of Christmas Up the Holler, now titled Moonshine and Mistletoe, at the arts center in Hilton Head, we got the opportunity since my collaborator DJ Salisbury often directs for them. Another of their directors was there, DJ knows him, and the rat bastard never came to see a performance. DJ was quite hurt over it, and I don't blame him.

There is such a thing as a "white glove" service meaning the item is delivered to the exact door and brought inside. The buyer is duly notified that it will be delivered within a certain timeframe and must be available to let the delivery be accomplished.
They do charge extra IF it is offered at all.

She’s since moved to Georgia
Where in Georgia does she live? You do mean the state of Georgia and not the country?
-
Yes, today is Palm Sunday.
My church is about to be very busy with Easter services and then homecoming.
Our homecoming means that for four days, a guest preacher and choirmaster do evening services for the church.
There is at least one covered dish event.
-
Sächsischer Osterkuchen. It’s not decorated yet.

Sächsischer Osterkuchen. It’s not decorated yet.
Please take and share a photo of the decorated Osterkuchen!!
-
Must start getting dressed for church. Have already showered, shaved and put on socks.
When you get as old as I, you take breaks. This was mine.
-
Here I sit fully dressed and ready to go.
Where IS everybody???
-
Come on, y'all.
I'm decent. I promise.
-
Some days you just can't get group participation.
-
And on that note...

I shall be on my way to the OLIVER! auditions about 1:15 p.m.

Matinee and talk back vibes for MR BK & Co.
-
There was a man in Indianapolis who thought he knew more about theatre than anybody else - in the world. If he did not like a show - and there were many - he would stand at the beginning of intermission, crumple his program and throw it violently to the floor and stomp out - followed by anyone who had come with him.
I stage managed a show he directed - and spent a lot of time picking up crumpled programs from the theatre floor after every performance.
-
I just looked him up - he died in 2005......
-
DR Elmore, thank you so much for the music.
I've got two (2) choral directors to share it with, one on either side of Norwalk, CT. As I come across other likely candidates, I'll just keep spreading it around.
Not exactly like the money in Hello, Dolly!, but, you know. 8)

Well, perhaps it will lead to other work.
-
I'm up, I'm up - not much sleep again - maybe four hours.

Hope there's great potential in your auditioners!!

Elmore,
I met this artist yesterday. His art made me think he would be a wonderful illustrator for your stories

Cool!

Ah! Ron, she lives in Commerce
-
Service was very nice.
-
We had the string choir, youth bell choir and adult choir perform today
-
And so many of my favorite hymns
-
Did you go see Cyrano, Vixmom?
-
I need a nap.
-
But first, a milestone.
-
Greetings from intermission in New Paltz!
-
But first, a milestone.
I can’t do anything with it right now, DR JohnG., but I just screen-snapped that in case no one else is able to grab it.
-
I shall now be on my way to the theater.
-
Did you go see Cyrano, Vixmom?
We’re going on Tuesday
-
I’ll be sure to give a full report!
-
I didn't know that whole backstory about Tommy Valando. Thanks for the insight, DR elmore3003.
Tommy's brother, whose name I cannot remember today - which embarrasses me enormously! - was like a second father to me. I hate getting old.
-
I shall be on my way to the OLIVER! auditions about 1:15 p.m.
I expect to be cast for the role of Nancy
-
I understand I’m about 40 years older than the usual casting choices but I can play younger and stage makeup will take care of the rest
-
Oh, and I can’t sing
-
Or dance
-
Elmore,

OMG! He really is quite wonderful. Did you talk to him?
-
Also because of previous engagements and transportation issues I won’t be attending any of the rehearsals
-
Or performances
-
Please tell me where to send my headshot

I bought a couple of pieces from him. I thought it would be presumptuous to mention your book but did learn he is based in the city and works for a company doing murals for publicity clients , however he also does free lance work.
-
I thought of poor lost Thatch immediately upon seeing the mouse in the coffee cup
-
I saw him yesterday at the table top gaming convention at the Cradle of Aviation museum on Long Island
-
But first, a milestone.
Congratulations on your fancy new millstone, DR JohnG!

And now, I'm about to see One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, then I go to my sister's for a while. :)
Until later!
-
Back! From a really excellent college production.
I love some of these Songs for a New World, and a few haven't grabbed me yet. But I'm generally okay with JRB's music -- and the MD/pianist (offstage) could even have been him, for all I knew, her playing was that incredible.
-
It takes a special hand to play some of that.
-
Congrats to DR JOHN G on his millstone.
-
DR VIXMOM you would have fit right in with many of those at auditions. There is one more round tomorrow evening and then we shall find out what will happen.
I have a feeling I will be playing The Doctor......but that's okay.....I hope some truly awesome people show up for Caroline tomorrow night.
-
Congratulations on your lofty new perch in the HHW firmament, DR John G.!!!
-
How could anyone sing the songs of Oliver! or Mamma Mia! and not be in a good mood?
-
Happy National Siblings Day. Apparently.
-
It is Sunday evening in Johnston SC.
One side of the house has geese and birds all over the yard. Don't know what is so fascinating for them...possibly an upcrop of bugs or worms.
Ugh.
-
:)
-
Preparing salmon filets.
-
This fancy French restaurant uses 3-D projections to entertain the guests at their tables while they are waiting for their orders. Pretty cool!

FIVE!!!!!

The finished product.

Back from a terrific matinee - seemed pretty full, very vocal audience - a few sound issues today and a really inane actor mistake - just a word but the word is the punchline to a joke - and how the actor could forget the word and substitute what he did is just incomprehensible. Talkback - only about ten people stayed, but they asked good questions and we all had fun.
-
But overall it was the best performance we've done.
-
I was going to have dinner with Doug after, but he's throwing a cast party for two shows ago - London Suite. So, I came home and ordered a pulled pork sandwich from Barbie-Q - haven't had food from there in ages.
-
George, I hope you are watching the Weather Forecast! Wet snow by morning from Olympia, south!
-
Not a lot of snow. 1 to 3 inches.
-
Yuck. No, TCB. Just no. It was 92 today.
-
That looks scrumptious, DR John G.
-
Fading fast.
-
Good night, friends.

the new Death on the Nile came in today. I couldn't resist. I took out the movie I had started and put this in. It's sumptuous, but the CGI is irritating.

The finished product.
Ah, very Easter-like!
-
The new Death on the Nile isn't as fun as the Angela Lansbury version. But it held my attention. For the most part.

WTH?? :o
-
Tomorrow, we have to be at Mamma Mia! rehearsal a half hour early so that we can be tested for Covid19.
-
They're doing that every Monday.
-
At One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest today, the audience had to show proof of vaccination, and wear masks the entire time.
-
My friend Kevin was there too, and he was actually sitting right in front of me, but I didn't recognize him from the back.
-
It wasn't until the girl two seats away from me started talking to me, and she turned out to be the girl who is playing Sophie in Mamma Mia!, that Kevin recognized my voice and made himself known!
-
I then introduced Kevin to "Sophie" but confessed to her that I didn't know her name, but it turns out that her real name is actually Sophie!
-
What a coinkydink! ;D

And tomorrow, I'm quite certain I'll achieve a new plateau.
