Well, you've read the notes, the notes had blurbilicious blurbs, and now it is time for you to post until the blurbilicious cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: NICETY!
-
Great blurbs, BK!
-
Topic of the Day: I've never been to Las Vegas, but I have the Region 2 DVD to Bette Midler's Divas Las Vegas concert. Does that count?
;)
-
I have been to Reno, though...just a one-night stop with a friend while on a road trip to Utah and back to see friends in some summer stock shows.
-
Well, I'm off to bed. I need to get to work early so that I can leave work early so that I can get to rehearsal early so that I can get the Covid19 test to be able to actually go to rehearsal at the regular time. ::)
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I think I liked Bruce Vilanch;s blurb the best.
-
Last night was a terrible night of sleep. It was cold, I could not get comfortable, and I was quite irritated by the whole ordeal. I did have a long dream about working on a production of The Pirates of Penzance. My goddaughter Charlotte was singing in it, and my brother Macbeth's first wife was involved in the production. In the dream, she and my brother were being sued for $40,000 and I think the suit involved dogs.
-
DR vixmom, I got an email from your artist. He's interested.
-
There are two places I never want to visit: Las Vegas and Florida. In the 1990s, while I was still at The Drama Book Shop, I worked on the American Booksellers convention at Atlantic City, which strikes me as a small-town Las Vegas, several floors above a casino. Once was enough.
-
Good morning, all.
-
An unpleasant night of surface sleep. I didn’t always feel asleep. And maybe I wasn’t.
-
I loathe Las Vegas and the soulless mediocrity of its architecture. Vapid glitz with little wit. I felt a palpable sense of evil about the place. Visited twice. Same results.
-
Good morning to all. Hope everyone has a great week
-
Looking forward to reading the new book
-
Good morning.
-
TOD: Yes. I love the tackiness. And the carpets.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I think I liked Bruce Vilanch;s blurb the best.
It's extraordinary. What an incredible wit. I would probably be willing to read any book he blurbed so beautifully.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Forgot to mention that I watched Better Nate Than Never a few days ago. It's not going to win any awards. But it's fairly entertaining if you're into musical theater.
Is this what all the brouhaha from the right is about? Disney "promoting" homosexuality? Give me a break.
-
I liked Vegas in the days of its mid-century vibe and kitsch, and the other-worldly escape from everything, but my good memories of that are from a few times in the 1970s and just a couple of times in the early 1980s. The last time I was there was in the early 1990s, when it had begun to transform into the oversized Disneyfied thing it is now. At this point I have little desire to return, since I would probably find the last remnants of what I enjoyed about it obliterated.
I only ever wandered around playing penny-nickel-dime slots, denominations that probably don't even exist anymore except in the most outlying areas, and I loved eating at the then-cheap 24-hour buffets. And I only ever saw two shows there: Don Rickles at the Riveria in the early '70s, and a corporate-sponsored Siegried & Roy show on that last visit. Okay, pretty tigers and all, but a waste of my evening. And of course we all know how that eventually turned out. :)
Fortunately, DR Laura's tackiness and carpets still live, there and elsewhere. Those make me happy, too.
-
I do indeed like that artist's style with DR Elmore's stories in mind. It would be so wonderful if something came of that.
-
DR vixmom would probably be looking at a pretty hefty commission. :D
-
Okay, I have to post it or it might still not happen:
Today -- YES, TODAY -- FINALLY -- I am taking down the ca-1962 aluminum tree.
We took the ornaments off a few weeks ago. Can't hurry these things, you know. But now I've said it, so I have to do the rest.
-
Monday, Monday!
Well, enough of that.
No singing from Johnston SC this morning.
Having my coffee, pondering whether to trek to Leesville for a chiropractic consultation or not.
Dreamed strange dreams, none of which bear mentioning.
-
DR ChasSmith just reminded me why I chose not to have a tree this past Christmas.
Last year, I didn't put mine away until late March or early April. I didn't turn the lights on, but I just didn't feel like hassling with it.
Ah, well.
-
Who knows how cold and gray the day may be?
Wait until dark and we'll be warm!
-
Dang it! I said there would be NO SINGING this morning.

TOD: I was only in Las Vegas once when a flight from the east coast stopped there for my trek back to the Bay Area.
It was interesting in that airport, with a slice of humanity on parade I had never seen outside of a cheesy movie.
I was bemused, and I was glad when my flight was called for departure.
-
His email contained two cats. I like them very much, but I wonder how he is with black and white sketching? A&T is not a children's book with big color illustrations.
-
And the other.
-
I liked the blurbs very much!
-
I am going to enjoy my last day off - unless of course I am NOT cast in OLIVER! which would be okay with me.....then I will have some more days off until CLUE auditions next month.
-
I have never been to Lost Wages.
-
But I do like to watch Elvis in Viva Las Vegas!

DR Ginny, David's sister Donna McGehean posted this yesterday on Facebook. Did you see it?
On Sunday April 3rd, my brother David McGehean passed away. Although greatly weakened by emphysema and in general poor health, his passing was sudden. None of us, including David, were thinking on Sunday afternoon that he would be gone by Sunday night. David leaves behind his mother, two sisters, dearly loved nieces, nephews, an aunt, cousins, and many sweet friends.
A formal obituary will be in The Columbus Dispatch this week. A family graveside memorial will occur next month in Richmond, KY where David will be interred with his father Robert McGehean.

Last night I watched a strange film. I sorta liked it. Magic in the Moonlight, written and directed by Woody Allen. I never would have guessed he was behind it. I selected it because Eileen Atkins had a wonderful role as Colin Firth's aunt. Around 3/4 of the way through it, I thought, OMG, it's Pride and Prejudice all over again! By the end, I was thinking it's My Fair Lady! and qwouldn't Colin Firth be a wonderful Henry Higgins.
I liked the cast and I loved the soundtrack.
-
So, my boss wants us yo come to our team meeting with our version of “Slept in my Duran Duran t-shirt. Woke up hungry like the wolf.”
My first thought was “slept in my Sunday in the Park with George t-shirt. Woke up and wanted to move on.”
I don’t think they’ll get it.

I remember liking the cast, but have no other memory of the movie.

Right. And of course he would need to read and learn their personalities and all.
-
Monday morning greetings! This will be a family-filled week for us. My sister and her husband will be in town tonight as they near the end of their trek home to Michigan after 4 months in Florida. Then, late Thursday, Charlotte and her parents will arrive for Easter weekend.

DR Elmore, I didn’t see that on Facebook - thanks for sharing. One of the things I remember most about David is that he was a very heavy smoker :'(

TOD - My first visit to Las Vegas was for the 1973 American Library Association annual conference. I had just finished grad school, looking for a job, and hit the jackpot when I met Virginia Brown. She was director of the library at Miami University-Middletown, looking for a new public services librarian. We had coffee, arranged for me to visit Middletown for an interview, and the rest is history.
-
TOD, cont’d - I would have been perfectly happy never to visit Las Vegas again, but it was an overnight stop for us on the first of our 3 big family driving trips when Rob was growing up. In 1996 he had a fascination with all things Egyptian, so we stayed at the Luxor and got out of town as fast as we could the next morning.
-
The painter is power-washing the woodwork around the house. It may not be too far down the road when all is done.
I wish.
-
Chiropractor was very helpful.
Now that I'm back home, the ache is back.
I seriously believe that the seat of my car, and the journey home, undoes some of the things he does for me.
-
What do I know, though?
-
Larry, ask the artist if he does black and white.
-
This Friday, my church will be doing a 7 p.m. Good Friday service.
Sunday morning at 7, we will have a sunrise service, followed by a breakfast in our social hall.
The next week the revival begins.
Busy, busy, busy. And I have three doctor's appointments coming up in the next two weeks.
My life is full.
-
Those are great illustrations, DR elmore3003.
-
What is it, FISH?
-
Some would say that rubber balloons are not good for marine life.
-
~~~BACK VIBES~~~ for DR Ron Pulliam!!!!!!!!
-
Back flip vibes would not be appropriate at this time.
-
It simply isn't done.
-
Oh, no.
-
And yet....
PAGE THREE!!!
Hello, 6 Guests!
-
What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
-
Love the blurbs, bk!
-
The only time I was in Las Vegas, I remember that I was too young to be allowed to enter any of the casinos. The end.
-
What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
Usually, it's Vanilla. You can do an awful lot with Vanilla in terms of toppings that would not work well with other flavors.
-
I am on the verge of something.
Perhaps it's a napl
-
I think the last time I was in Las Vegas was the time I picked up a former reader who was on tour with a musical. I drove him to Phoenix, via the Grand Canyon.
-
I want to go back to Vegas, just to take a walk on The Strip to see how much has changed since the last time I was there.
And take updated carpet photos.
-
A "Damn them all to hell" moment!
-
That's excellent.
-
What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
Yes
All of the above
His email contained two cats. I like them very much, but I wonder how he is with black and white sketching? A&T is not a children's book with big color illustrations.
Grownups like color illustrations too
Well I do anyway
-
His email contained two cats. I like them very much, but I wonder how he is with black and white sketching? A&T is not a children's book with big color illustrations.
Well I do anyway
But color paintings - I would think - would raise the cost of the book. I'll be lucky to get a trade paperback.
-
Good afternoon!
-
At 6:30 this morning we drove our guests to the airport.
-
IT WAS SNOWING!
-
One inch of snow fell at Portland International Airport, setting a record with the only measurable amount of snow there since official record-keeping began in 1940, the National Weather Service said.
-
Then we lost the internet due to the weather.
-
Bruce I hope you are having a good day.
-
I'm up, I'm up - I have no idea how much sleep - maybe six hours - very rough night in Jericho - probably take a nap later.
-
Did someone mention a nap?
Insert happy ears emoji.
-
HA! DR GINNY has a great week coming up!
-
DR RON PULLIAM I bought one of those little wire back supports years ago and it was most helpful in the PT Cruiser......
-
Harold Arlen & Vernon Duke and I DO! I DO! have arrived in Indiana.
-
It has been warm and overcast all day today.....with rain now and then.
-
I like the new ending to The Wizard of Oz......and I have always hated, hated, HATED what Glinda says when someone asks why she didn't tell Dorothy she could go home any time: ".....you wouldn't have believed me!"
Oh yea?
-
It’s an afternoon made for Encores! The Boys from Syracuse. Love Rebecca Luker and Debbie Gravitte.
-
By day he’s like a 5-year-old
At night, he’s 97!
What can you do with a man like that?
-
I'm up, I'm up - I have no idea how much sleep - maybe six hours - very rough night in Jericho - probably take a nap later.
I was shocked when I read this, then realized it must be tomorrow you are going to Vegas and not today.
-
The sun is shinning and we had a lovely walk though we had to bundle up to be warm.
-
DR RON PULLIAM I bought one of those little wire back supports years ago and it was most helpful in the PT Cruiser......
Oh? Where did you get it??
The first time we went to Vegas was after Keith turned 21. We went with another couple and stayed at the Frontier Hotel. Being rather poor we shared a room. Keith & I checked in while they waited for us. I still laugh remembering the expression on the guy who checked us in when Keith confirmed we had two queen beds in our room.
-
The second time we went to Vegas my parents treated us. That time we stayed at the Riviera which was a very nice hotel. I think it was this trip that we saw a very funny Jerry Lewis perform.
-
Back then food in Vegas was exceptionally well priced. Caesars Palace had an extraordinary Sunday brunch buffet.
-
When Vegas became a place for families we took the kids for a fun vacation. They spent most of the day in the arcade and Keith, as usual, was in the casino.
-
Craig wanted to go for his 21st birthday to gamble and see shows. For that trip all three of them spent most of their time in the casino, fortunately winning.
-
We have been to Vegas a number of times since then. These days Keith spends more time with me and less time at the tables.
Fun there includes time with Keith's cousins.
-
Our last time in Vegas we met friends for my birthday, taking an extra day after they left for family. Next time we go I have two friends I went all through school with to visit as well.
-
Larry, ask the artist if he does black and white.
Ron, it's not "black and white," it's "monochromatic."
;)
-
I am on the verge of something.
Perhaps it's a napl
What's a napl? Do you put them in pies? ;D
That's lovely. I'm sure the liturgies will be meaningful and beautiful.
'night
-
Good night, friends.
-
I have never been to Las Vegas
Well, I've never been to Vegas,
And I kinda hate the music
People tell me I lost dough there
But I really don't remember.
-
Is it Las Vegas? Or just Lost Wages?
What does it matter?
-
With apologies to Three Dog Night.
-
Dancing was fun tonight. But my feet were tired.
-
I'm now at home watching the first episode of Dexter: New Blood. Not much has changed, except it's better than the series' ending.
That may have been one of the worst series finales I've ever seen.
I liked the original ending. I’ll be interested to hear what you think of New Blood when you finish it
Debra Messing is on Broadway, and JRand hasn't told us when he's going! I was sure he'd have opening night tickets.
What a tale your thoughts could tell.
Harold Arlen & Vernon Duke and I DO! I DO! have arrived in Indiana.
In South Carolina, as well, along with Ray Leppard's "Alfred the Great".
-
I'm nearing the end of my Dexter run for the evening.
-
Beginning to fade.
I have a feeling I'll be binge-watching this over the next few days.
I think he is waiting until he sees her one-woman show, “The Life of Lucille Ball”
I have been to Las Vegas many times. It currently has the best Titanic exhibit in the world. It is at The Luxor. It contains “the piece” of the hull that they attempted to raise when I was at the site.
No, just interviewed.
Ahh. Thanks, Tom. I'm sure her interview will be online somewhere like YouTube.
-
She is a little heftier than I would have imagined.
