Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of Tuesday's doings on Thursday, and now it is time for you to post until the Tuesday/Thursday cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: OPPORTUNE!

First after BK?
-
First after BK, indeed
-
Where is Elmore??
-
I hope everything is ok
-
Today is the day we were supposed to be seeing Blondie
-
Very bummed the show was “postponed”
-
Still no word on a new date
-
Good morning, all!
-
I have never had a Philly cheesesteak sandwich
-
Good morning, all!
Ah! There you are!
-
Good morning Elmore!
-
The alarm rang at 5:30, and I told the cats, Just a few more monutes. When I operned my eyes it was 6:35.
-
Vixdad loves a Philly cheese steak sandwich
-
DR vixmom, Into the Woods is not my mostest favorite musical. I intensely dislike it, but I also detest Passion, Moulin Rouge, and a ton of lousy shows I've had to sit trhrough. I do hoper you have a wonderful time at the matinee.
-
DR TCB, I will not be in the Times DSquare area, but I would love to meet Micahe and Sharry if they have some free time.
-
I have a difficult email to compose this morrning.
-
He says probably the best one he ever had was at a little lunch place in Philadelphia, just down the road from Betsy Ross’ home
-
I have never had a Phillty Cheese steak.
-

I know you hate it….I figured my “mostest favorite” would be read as tongue in cheek
-
I, however, have a very soft spot for it.
-
It opened about a month after our wedding and Vixdad’s folks came over to visit for Christmas that year. We brought both sets of parents to see it, and Vixdad snagged front road center mezzanine seats for the six of us.
-
It was my in-laws first, and it turned out, only Broadway experience, and they loved it and talked about it every Christmas
-
When the dvd of the play with the original cast was released my in-laws sent it to us as a Christmas present.
-
Ever since our tradition has been to watch it while decorating the tree
-
I have a difficult email to compose this morrning.
I am sorry to hear that
-
Well, time to get moving
-
Vibes everyone has a lovely day
-
Thursday. What a wonderful day of the week.
Tomorrow is Friday, and yesterday - Wednesday - is now behind us.
I got that right, didn't I?
-
Gosh, golly, gee! I have started Page 2.
-
I have a young cousin who cannot read anything but "printed" words. He has never been taught cursive.
-
It is, sadly, another gray day, and we may get some rain starting around late morning. It will not be more than showers, but that puts a damper on the application of primer on the wooden portions of my house.
We have about a 30% chance of rain on Saturday and Sunday.
-
I wish I had something interesting to relate to all of you, but you must remember I live in a small town.
We have some moments, but they do tend to be spaced out. We are not deprived, culturally, but local concerts at a park or at the club are generally country music or blues.
There are popular/classical opportunities in Aiken and Augusta, Greenwood and Saluda, etc. All these places are 20 or so miles from Johnston in various directions.
-
Sigh!
-
Composing the email vibes for DR ELMORE.
-
What great photos in the notes......the placard is indeed entertaining and I think MR BK needs a couple of hundred of them for when he runs for president.
-
Mistaken For Chevy Chase.......ugh....but I can see it.
-
The storm passed us by last night - and we have bright sunshine today.
-
I am feeling better today - but it was not a pleasant night. My arm is still a bit sore - but the nausea has passed into oblivion.
-
I love a Philly cheese steak sandwich. I guess the best I ever had was in a restaurant in Baltimore of all places....
-
Now and then they have them at Subway - or used to.....but I don't remember them except as soggy.
-
For some reason I must have turned something on or off because my new phone will not ring for calls or ding for messages.....
-
DR vixmom, that was a lovely Into the Woods story. I knew you were being funny. but I just wanted you to know there are shows I hate more.
-
The email has been drafted and sent to my recordign project team for input before I send it.
-
All these booster reactions are scaring me. I need to book my appointment.
-
Thatch has begun to get clingy. I was typing for the last thirty minutes with him lounging on my shoulders.
-
TOD: I have never had a "remarkable" Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich that would make it a favorite.
Messy is the experience I have had with a couple of them, but that was many, many, MANY (well, maybe not THAT many) years ago.
-
DR vixmom: I love "Into the Woods". It's one of my favorites of Sondheim's scores.
-
I am meeting with my regular doctor at the VA on the 28th. I will discuss the second booster with him.
I have it in my head that all my sinus issues BEGAN with the first two vaccinations. I didn't become alarmed until I found myself blowing my nose all day every day, not being able to breathe through my nose at all and not being able to use my CPAP. THAT all started post-booster vaccination.
Even though I tested, I was negative for COVID-19. So...something seems to have been triggered by the shots, but my allergist says it's impossible to say one way or the other, although folks have reacted in different ways to the vaccinations.
If I don't actually need to get that second booster, I will likely take a pass.
-
Just for fun!
-
HA I found a video that showed me what to do.....I had set my iPhone to silent - and now I know how to do that if I want to.....
-
Good morning, all.
-
Great photos in the notes, bk.
-
TOD: I have never had a "remarkable" Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich that would make it a favorite.
I would agree, but I have not been to Philly for an authentic one.
-
Years ago, a Spurs player, Malik Rose, opened his own Philly cheesesteak place because he couldn’t get a good one here in San Antonio. His were okay, nothing to make me return. Malik Rose’s Philly Cheesesteaks still exists, but it’s a food truck now.
-
I saw Into the Woods in previews and found it heartwarming and gentle. Then I saw it a couple of days after opening. The second act had been rewritten for more laughs and farce. I enjoyed it, but it never won my heart over the way the first version did.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
I have a young cousin who cannot read anything but "printed" words. He has never been taught cursive.
Love it! A budding Bukowski.
-
Guess what?
-
Three!
-
It's snowing.
-
Shall we dance the Spanish Panic?
-
Hi, Singdaw. My condolences on the s—w.
-
Or perhaps the Baby Elephant Walk?

Shall we dance the Spanish Panic?
Let’s do the Kangaroo.

-
Hi, DR John G.
-
Good to see your smiling face around these parts.
-
We could also do the Spanish Flea.
-
Does the Spanish Flea lead to the Spanish Panic?
-
The world may never know.
-
Does the Spanish Flea lead to the Spanish Panic?
Tango has a step called the Spanish Drag.
-
I am hoping for the best with that email, DR Elmore.
-
Like some other DRs, I don't think I have ever had an authentic Philly Cheesesteak sandwich.
-
I am hoping for the best with that email, DR Elmore.
DITTO!
-
I am hoping for the best with that email, DR Elmore.
I am, too.

My very first cheesesteaks were in Philly, but out in the 'burbs - in King of Prussia, to be exact - at a small defunct chain called, simply, Philly Steaks. There were two locations I frequented whenever I was visiting an office we had there for several years, and on my very first cheesesteak there, I was hooked. I was then taken to two other places that are known far and wide: Jim's Steaks on South St. in downtown Philly, and one whose name I'll have to look up, in Manayunk, a neighborhood that's located about halfway out to the King of Prussia/Valley Forge area.
All of these are at the top of the list. There was another one called - I think - Pat's, which in the late 1980s opened a store in Hollywood in the Sunset/La Brea area. The exact location escapes me, and I don't have any idea how long it lasted there, but the couple of times I had one, it was absolutely as good as the originals.
I tend to not trust any other cheesesteaks, anywhere, however much they're hyped as being original Philly style or whatever. I can't even remember the last time I've had one. But there is NOTHING like the real thing, fresh off the griddle, with a sprinkle of the hot and sweet peppers that, at least in those days, were customarily kept in large jars, at the ready, for customers to dip into. Mushrooms are fine, too, but you must have those hot and sweet peppers.

And will you just look at the time!
Where DOES it go?
I must now be getting ready to head back to that castle -- my last time until tech week, a week and a half from now.
-
Vixmom, congratulations on getting a good seat for Into the Woods.
I do love much of that score, but it's one of the most challenging for me to learn to play decently. Although that could be because I've never really sat down to properly learn it, as opposed to just cramming to fill in at a rehearsal or something. I've played the Keyboard 2 book in performance, but that book is nothing. All the challenging stuff is in the piano or piano-conductor book.
-
Okay, I'm outta here. Vibes to all!
-
I've booked my Covid booster for Saturday, April 23, at 11 a.m.That's a relief.

I’m stuck in meetings. Ugh.

I feel lobotomized already. Too bad I have to wait to fill ‘er up.

Onward!

Score...and seven years ago...
-
Am getting ready to depart for Leesville and my second chiropractic visit of the week.
-
The porch man who will re-screen it also is agreeing to doing other maintenance things needing doing, and I am one happy camper. My yard always looks nice, but I will be super-hyped when my house doesn't look its age any longer.
-
It's snowing.
Really snow...not dandruff?
-
Well, so far it's not sticking. So there's that.
-
Good news about your house and your yard, DR Ron Pulliam.
-
You can sit on a rocker on the front porch and yell, "Kids, get off my lawn!"
-
Back from lunch.

Gratuitous post 99!

Greetings from the…
well, wherever I am!
Kind of looks like a band room, if you ask me.

From DR John:
I started Emily St. John Mandel’s Sea of Tranquility, but it’s so short, I’ll be finished before I know it.
Just before reading this I had downloaded the book from the library. I love the title and hope I enjoy the book. While I thought Station Eleven was great I couldn't finish The Glass Hotel.
-
DR Ron I am glad your tests are showing improvement.
-

Two Bravo Giovanni references.

The same reference twice.
-
Love it, DR John G. Almost like two Grecian urns.
-
But different.
-
Such nonsense will get us to the next page.
-
Painstakingly.
-
But nevertheless.
-
I was thinking about all your meetings, DR John G.
-
Surely by now they could have invented a way to move forward without all the wasted time.

I love a good parade, don't you?

Dolly does.

I'm up, I'm up - was up for an hour at five-thirty, but back asleep an hour later for a total of nine and a half hours of good sleep.

It is hard to read about wars and violence right now. No, as in you didn't like Station Eleven or didn't read it?
-
I was intrigued by DR John G.'s posting last night about needing a book to read. I would have thought his nightstand has about 25 books waiting. With more on the floor.
-
There is SO MUCH STUPID out there in Edgefield County that I sometimes feel I might explode.
It's all political, of course....and it centers on right-wing lies and rumors and myths that folks here take as gospel.
Did you know, for instance, that President Biden's cancellation of the Keystone Pipeline deprived Native Americans of billions of dollars? And that it was Trump's right to authorize the use of Native American lands because they are FEDERAL property?
I didn't, either. And none of it is true. Trump declared Eminent Domain and TOOK the property. None of the oil that the pipeline delivered would have benefitted our country, but it would have provided jobs. Oh, well.
-
Rant over.
Sigh.
-
The weather did not devolve into rain today.
Actually got some sunshine this afternoon.
Tomorrow will be beautiful with a high near 80 degrees around the region.

Thank you for clarifying. Now what about Sea of Tranquility? I read it can be difficult getting into it. If I don't do so quickly I am not sure I will hang around long.

How young is your cousin? There's a guy on YouTube whose channel I follow and he's in his early 30s. He gets mail from viewers but he confesses that he can't read cursive if the viewers send hand-written notes to him. You'd think he would've learned, but nope.

I moved from Los Angeles to Connecticut in the middle of 3rd grade. In California, they hadn't taught the cursive writing unit. When I got to Connecticut, they had already done it. So I fell through the cracks. I taught myself, but it was never pretty.

I had the same experience but it was the multiplication tables and the beginning if 4th grade
I still can’t say ‘em
-
Today I was filed something in one of the metal cabinets , which was a little tight and hard to get it
-
As I was walking back to my desk, I realized my hand felt wet
-
I glanced down to see the back of my left hand covered in blood
-
I was baffled and alarmed
-
Fortunately we have a little kitchenette with a sink and I was able to quickly wash my hand
-
Somehow I managed to slice the top of my hand on something fin the file cabinet
-
The gash is about three inches long
-
Whatever it was must have been really sharp because I never even felt it happen
-
Fortunate we also keep an office first aid kit, well stocked with various sized bandages and one of my coworkers kindly bandaged my hand for me
-
Tonight when I got home I managed to bang it on something and start the blood flowing again
-
So it has been freshly rebandaged
-
But it’s throbbing like crazy

I think I need to get a new laptop. Not an expense I was hoping to make this year.

Had a Fatburger and onion rings around four o'clock - not as good as last time. Oops.

Fifteen more postings until a new plateau. Hopefully, George will be around to capture the event.
-
That is, in the event I achieve the event.

Got more photos from the Tuesday event so I'll post those in the notes.

A mere ten more posts.

And where in tarnation IS everyone two and a half hours later? Most unseemly.

So well we were doing.
-
All right, prior to writing the new notes, let's just achieve a new plateau, shall we?
-
We shall, and I don't care who knows about it.
-
Listening to the last two Orpheus Chamber Orchestra CDs - modern music and folk songs.

Not necessarily in that order.

It's each player's winning grid for a game called Wordle (https://www.nytimes.com/games/wordle/index.html), that became quite popular recently. It was a game invented last year, I think, by some guy in England (if I remember correctly), but then he sold it to the New York Times for a number in the low-seven figures.
-
When (if) you win, you can save the grid to show how you won without spoiling that day's game for everyone else, because you can only play once per day (per browser ;) ) and EVERYONE tries to guess the same word each day.

No, that's just the result. Here's the link to the game:
https://www.nytimes.com/games/wordle/index.html
The idea is to try and guess the day's random five-letter word. You enter a real word, and if a letter is not in the word of the day, that letter turns gray. If the letter is in the word but not in the right place for the word of the day, that letter shows as yellow, and if the letter is in the right place in the word, it's green. You have six chances to try to guess each day's word of the day. If you don't make it within those six chances, it'll show the word, but you can't play again until the next day...or you use a different browser or device.
