Well, you've read the notes, the notes said great Caesar's ghost for no reason whatsoever, and now it is time for you to post until the great Caesar's cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: BUCOLIC!
-
Apparently, Robert Morse has died. Ninety years old.

Apparently, Robert Morse has died. Ninety years old.
Oh, no. :( But wow...90 years old.
-
Good morning, all!
-
Well, today cannot be as horrible as yesterday, and I hope my outing to see a new ENT doctor about these nasal polyps goes smoothly, from Access-a-Ride to appointment to home.
-
Last nightI slept well until 2:30 or so, and the last three hours turtled by. Faithful Annabelle hung wqith me and Thatch and Stella made extended visits.
-
DR JRand71, I agree about work begetting other work, and I have a plan. Tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 Doug Fullington, whoase project this ballet is, and I are having a zoom meeting.
-
Access=a=Ride is showing up (hopefully) at 11:45, so I have until then to finish these budgets for the recording project.
-
My first memory of hearing "Great Caesar's ghost" was when it was exhorted in the "Superman" TV series by Perry White, the editor of The Daily Planet, the newspaper where Lois and Clark worked.
-
TOD: If I had access to that Time Machine for the purposes of catching the premiere roadshow engagement of any film, I think I would like to have experienced the Atlanta premiere at Loew's State Theater of "Gone With the Wind".
-
Good Morning.
I hope it's Thursday where all of you are, because it is Thursday here in Johnston SC. I would hate to think you all got in your time machines and went to different days.
-
I have a 9:45 a.m. lab appointment at the VA in Aiken SC today. I must leave about 8:45 a.m. It won't take more than 35 minutes to get there, but I like a cushion.

Coffee and Wordle has become my new morning routine

I was sorry to read about Bobby Morse. My first knowledge of him was when he and his Adora-Belles were featured in "The Cardinal" (1963-Columbia Pictures).
I had the extreme good fortune to enjoy him as the Wizard in "Wicked" during its premiere pre-Broadway run in San Francisco. I caught two performances and he was totally enjoyable in each one.
I never did learn why he was replaced by Joel Grey.
-
Good Morning, mother of the vixter!

I see Ron has already given the answer to BK’s question. That was the answer I was going to give as well

I like morning coffee and wordle, too. This morning, thought, I must forego the coffeed until after I have blood drawn at the VA.
As for wordle, the oddest thing: I dreamed of starting with a word just to see if a certain rarely seen letter would be in the puzzle.
When I actually started to play, I remembered and used that word. The second and third letter of my starting word were the second and third letter of the day's word.
It was an unusual beginning. I felt it could only be one of a few words.. I lucked out with my second word choice and got a third letter that let me know what the word would be.
Convoluted, isn't it!

Good morning, all.

I don’t feel like stirring yet.

TOD:
I don’t know from Roadshows. But I would love to see La Dolce Vita in a grand, old-fashioned movie palace as baroque as the film itself.
-
Robert Morse was replaced in Show Boat by John McMartin prior to its coming to New York.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I'm sorry to hear that Robert Morse no longer walks the earth with us.
-
Today I need to back my car out of the garage, park it in the sun and open it up, remove the floor mats, vacuum it out, and clean the "carpeted" floors as best I can. There was a slight mildew-y smell the other day. I'll also clean the seats, etc., but I'm told that the floor is the first thing to suspect as being the culprit. It's time for a good cleaning, anyway.

Onward!

TOD:
WEST SIDE STORY - 1961!!!
-
Bobby Morse’s musical exit from Mad Men.
https://youtu.be/FKgPTkIulEI
Oh man, I'd forgotten about that scene. That is stunning.
I will definitely be watching some Robert Morse. Not Mad Men, yet, because I need to enjoy a second pass through the entire series when I have time for that.
-
My first thought was indeed West Side Story, or any of several other great ones from the 1950s-1960s. But for extraordinary historical purposes, I'm thinking I'd go along with that Gone With the Wind Atlanta premiere, or perhaps even Fantasia -- if, in fact, it had that kind of roadshow engagement. I'd have to look it up but I think it did, with the 40-channel "Fantasound" installations and all. I don't remember if that happened in more than one theater.
I'm reminded that there were roadshow engagements in the silent film era as well, with elaborate souvenir programs printed up like in later years. It's a rich heritage and I wish I could magically experience them all.

Vibes for DR ELMORE & DR RON PULLIAM on their medical visits today.
Thanks. For my part, it was early in and early out. I then went to "The Fresh Market" and bought some goodies like Thai noodle salad and smoked gouda salad.
Then I went to Sam's Club and got some Clorox, some chicken wings, some ice cream bars and some AA batteries.

At every part of my journey to and from Aiken, I had the unpleasant experience of cars riding my tail. They'd come out of nowhere doing 75 or 80.
I generally do 55 to 60 in a 55-mph zone. It is very unnerving when you see someone coming up behind you doing 75 or 80 and then slowing to ride less than a car length behnd you. I keep waiting for them to avail themselves of passing opportunities, but they don't seem to grasp that concept.
I also got behind a car at a 4-way stop regulated by a flashing red light. I could tell nothing was coming in left and right directions, but the car just sat there. I stopped behind him and gently tapped my horn. He didn't move. Two cars approached and stopped on our right. He just sat there. I finally laid on my horn and he slowly went through the intersection. My best guess is that the driver didn't understand that the flashing red light was never going to turn green.
And finally, in my last stretch toward home, a car got behind me -- again out of nowhere and I saw him speeding toward me -- but contented himself to ride directly behind me, never once availing himself of myriad passing opportunities.
It's really annoying.
-
Just for off-the-record:
Does anyone know if Bobby Morse had problems with substances of any kind?
-
I DESPISE tailgaters. I think that's one of the most dangerous driving practices of all. I really don't think anyone is taught good driving skills like we were. I learned in, what, the mid-1960s? -- and to this day I remember very specific things that were drilled into me, such as mentally gauging a safe distance behind the car in front of you, signaling every turn and lane change, and so much more.
And I don't see this as a typical old-person rant against the youth of the day. It's a skill that is taught and learned, or not, just like flying a plane (hello!). Unfortunately, people's attitudes in today's culture in general (NOT just the young) are such that this kind of thing is a losing - or already lost - battle.
-
I want to pull out Take Me Along later. Morse is hilarious in that.
-
We just had an exceptionally delicious breakfast at the hotel restaurant.
-
T.O.D.
i assume that we get to see the film in whatever high-quality condition in which it was designed to be seen. I would have to say, HOW THE WEST WAS WON. Although I am not a big western fan, I have always regretted not going up to Seattle to see this film in its true Cinerama form.

That would be an excellent alternate choice for me, too. I have never seen a Cinerama film in a Cinerama theater.

When the national interstate system was set up, it was done in geographic and numeric order.

Roadshow: Disney's Sleeping Beauty in Technirama 70 or whatever it was called.

I liked Dr Namdar. I need a scan for him to see how bad hte polyps are.
-
Thanks for the vibes, DR Jrand71. I really need them tomorrow for this ballet zoom meeting.
-
I'm up, I'm up - seven hours of sleep.
-
Came out to find the clocks flashing and the computer off - apparently we lost power for about ninety minutes. Really annoying.
-
Roadshow: Disney's Sleeping Beauty in Technirama 70 or whatever it was called.
Did it get an actual roadshow presentation? I'd have to look that one up, too. But I saw it when it had just been released at one of the better theaters in Columbus. I fell in love with it, and I remember that we, along with the neighbor kids who went with us to see it, acted out scenes in our front yard.

Reset the clocks and fired up the computer.

I really don'tt know, but I do know it showed at only one theater in Cincinnati, The Valley, and one theater in a suburb of Dayton. I also belioeve - although my memory could be wrong - that you had to resewrve seats in advance.

Because that looks cold already.

Now, a potato chip board…

Elmore, Alexa is playing one of the pieces from Moulin Rouge. I can’t help but remember your verdict: an ADHD musical. One line from one song, then a line from another and all interest is lost because they’ve moved on to something else. I feel like a pinball trying to keep track.

Good afternoon!
-
Thanks to all for the travel vibes. They worked—my flight arrived 25 minutes early!
-
We just had an exceptionally delicious breakfast at the hotel restaurant.
Details, please?
Keith had the tofu veggie burrito while I had a tofu scramble. They came with cottage potatoes. My scramble was the best I have ever had. There were slivers of delicious grilled (?) onions in it. The flavor was perfect.
-
When away from home I tried to avoid following the news and missed the horrible story of the Ukrainian zoo employees.

Hello, everyone.

Jane, I'm glad you were able to get your hearing aids to work with your new iphone. I'm sometimes frustrated that the salespeople don't have more expertise, but there's an awful lot to know and they're not highly paid. I hope you're very happy with your phone.
-
Hello DR JEANNE!
-
Slow news day on HHW.
-
TONight is the season finale of GHOSTS the tv series.
-
I've been feeling a bit burnt out lately and haven't felt like doing much at all. Very unlike me! There's usually tons I want to do, even if I lack follow-through.
-
I am enjoying my afternoons off this week and next before I am into the theatre season....until September.
Beautiful weather today.
AND we have a house showing tomorrow, so hopefully someone will love it.
-
Hi, Jrand.
-
All the windows are open and it is lovely to see....blue skies and a few clouds....and I love to sit on the porch and watch airplanes flying to faraway places.....I usually watch until I have seen at least three.....
-
Since we have a number of Wordle regulars, let me ask:
Do you have a specific strategy you use when choosing the first and second words or do you just choose words at random?
I like to start with the vowels and usually use the word DEATH as my first choice. (Interesting choice, huh?) My second choice varies.
Have you used the WordleBot?
The WordleBot analyses your choices, then says things like, "Good choice, but I could have done better." What?! I prefer my AI without attitude, thank you!

Vibes you have lots of interest in the house.
Is there a lot of real estate activity in your area these days?

My favorite version of "Far Away Places" was sung by Miss Gale Storm on "Oh Susanna" "The Gale Storm Show" & "Starring Gale Storm"
It :D was probably photographed by DR JEANNE's uncle.....it is NOT included in any of her CD's nor is it on YouTube. She stood by a large globe and sang the song....as her character contemplated leaving her life as a Social Director on an Ocean Liner and ALL of her friends to marry a titled gentleman who had become interested in her.
It was most impressionable to a 10 year old who watched the show.....
-
Note: She turned him down and stayed with her friends.
-
Thanks DR JEANNE....a fair amount.....
-
I was pleased to see that the French TV series BALTHAZAR is returning for a fourth season. But didn't they kill off the star at the end of season 3? The show is definitely quirky, but bringing characters back to life is a bit much, even for them.

LOL DR JEANNE I have corrected my error.....
-
The season finale of GHOSTS was most enjoyable.
It is Time Travel Night at TCM......and coming up in Berkley Square which I have never seen all the way through.....I shall endeavor to correct that tonight.

I heard a nightingale sang there.

But what do I know.

I finished a writing project for work. It turned out to be about 70 pages. That is way too long to be useful, so an extensive pruning is in order. But I think cutting is easier than writing, for the most part.

I generally use a 3-vowel word like orate or aegis. Today, I used axing - only two vowels but with the x. I am toying with starting with the word quiet in the near future. My second word today was exits. That one gave me the e, and it would not be any other letter than the last one. So my third word was my best guess of the week. That was today's word.
What I have found is that the basic vowels - a, e, i, and o - are often NOT in the word of a particular day...so you need to find words that have u and y (http://y).

I don’t use the Wordle bot and I never downloaded the app so I don’t have a record of how many I’ve done or my past performance, although I have always solved it although several times it was by the skin if my teeth
-
I generally start with adieu because of all the vowels and I generally try to include all the right kegerator in subsequent words. I have varied that sometimes though and just used a random 6 letter word so I could dispose or settle on some consonants
-
the obits for Mr. Morse have been particularly underwhelming.
-
It was a fun night of dance class. Most of the students really seemed to be pleased with the progress they're making. That is always rewarding.
-
I'm back to Nero Wolfe. I love the Italian I'm learning, and I love the setting. It's not the 1930s like the novels, but it is the Italy of the 1960s. Very stylish.

Thanks. We usually find the staff at Best Buy helpful. This staff in the phone department were exceptional.
Except that I have trouble hearing text notifications I am very pleased with the phone. I will have to call Apple to discuss the issue.

Just for Keith it never rained today :)
-
After breakfast, while back in our hotel room, Bryan and family called. For the first time in a video chat Freyja carried on a conversation with us. With prompting she even said happy birthday.
-
We walked about 5.5 miles exploring Bend.
-
Craig called while we were walking in along the Deschutes River so we sat on a bench and had a nice conversation.
-
We met a classmate, along with his girlfriend, who moved here last year and enjoyed a nice dinner at the Thai restaurant.
-
George, do you have an astigmatism? I have daily contacts I no longer wear. Your eye doctor might be willing to give you a few samples of single use contacts for the show.
Yes, I do have an astigmatism, and it didn't bother me when I wore them.
-
I don't need to see great detail (and I've done shows with no glasses or contacts), so what I have would be fine for the show.
-
And I have plenty of them. I miscounted and actually have almost two dozen, so I have more than enough.
-

Yes, I do have an astigmatism, and it didn't bother me when I wore them.
I asked because the contacts I have are for an astigmatism. How many nights would you need them for?
-
Of course the prescription would need to match.
-
And I have plenty of them. I miscounted and actually have almost two dozen, so I have more than enough.
Oh, OK. 🙂
-
And I have plenty of them. I miscounted and actually have almost two dozen, so I have more than enough.
Plenty.
-
Good night, all.
-
'night
-
Finished with my viewing.
-
Glad I didn't get the car washed yet - pouring rain right now - who knew?
-
I heard a nightingale sang there.
I did that play. Well, actually the play is A NIGHTINGALE SANG IN BERKLEY SQUARE.
-
Tonight I watched a great documentary. HARRY CHAPIN: WHEN IN DOUBT, DO SOMETHING. A great documentary about a truly wonderful human being.
-
Book page is live at kritzerland.com - who'll be the first :)
-
I forgot to mention a film I watched the other night. It was entitled, DEATH AT A FUNERAL. it was directed by Frank Oz, so I thought I might enjoy it.
-
And I guess I did enjoy. Alan Tudyk (FIREFLY) and Peter Dinklage (GAME OF THRONES) are in the film, but they aren’t the stars. I just don’t know most of the other British cast mates.
-
I found myself laughing out loud, and I was watching it alone.
-
No, neither cat enjoys British humor.
-
It has a few gross moments, but nothing really horrible. If dead bodies, in and occasionally out of caskets, disturb you then you might want to pass.
-
And, yes, it is a comedy. If you have trouble with British accents, like I sometimes do, you might want to turn on your subtitles.
-
George must have had a long rehearsal tonight.
-
Sorry, but I am off to bed. Goodnight, all.
