Well, you've read the notes, the notes were untitled, and now it is time for you to post until the untitled cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: HOEDOWN!
-
Good morning, all!
-
Last night I slept without the aid of Tylenol, Advil, or Aleve PM in over two years. When I came down from Ann's apartment, I decide4d it was too late to take anything, and I would see how things landed.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
I still need to watch the new West Side Story. I am undecided as to whether I should re-watch the original version first.
-
I had a long Drama Book Shop dream. Several dead friends made appearaances in it.
-
Intrigued by a social media post I saw about a community theater in the town I used to live in (on the East Coast) about an upcoming production of JOYFUL NOISE, a play by Tim Slover about the writing of Handel's Messiah. I had never heard of it. Wondering if any other DRs have?
-
I still need to watch the new West Side Story. I am undecided as to whether I should re-watch the original version first.
My advice is No. I haven't seen the original in over 40 years, and while there were things thta brought up images of the older film, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked the new version. They're two films from different times and attitudes.=

The tagline is: Passion, scandals, intrigue, politics, jealousies, female brawls, and glorious music!

Thank you, DR elmore3003.
-
Good morning to all.

Learned some very odd news yesterday. The San Antonio Red Cross is not doing blood donations at present. You have to go to one of the places that pays for plasma.
-
I finally found a hospital that accepts platelet donations, but it’s not part of any system, so you can’t donate in someone’s name unless that person is being treated where you donate.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Well, let's see.
I can tell you that it's Tuesday, but I really don't have have much other than that.

It's Tuesday, here, too. Not much else from me, either.

I woke up thinking it had to be Wednesday. So, you’re doing better than me.
-
I slept very well, but when I got out of bed, I realized how very sore I am
This is most likely from the incident yesterday morning.
Oof.

All this bnrouhaha over the Supreme Court today as if they didn't see it coming. Proud as I am to be a Democrat, it really burns my butt that the Democrat party is so goddamned gentle and lackadaisical to the GOP.
-
TOD:
The usual suspects: most of the catalogue of Aaron Copland, Howard Hanson, Samuel Barber, George Gershwin, Leonard Bernstein, and Stephen Sondheim.
Off the beaten path: Robert Baksa, Jake Runestad, Lee Hoiby
-
TOD:
Samuel Barber - Violin Concerto
Howard Hanson - Romantic Symphony
-
For the child in each of us...
-
Yes indeed it is Tuesday.
-
All day.

I have scheduled my Cat Scan for tomorrow.....and then the chips will fall where they may.....hip potato chips.
-
I'm liking the lists for the TOD. I didn't think I knew any!
-
DR RON PULLIAM Merchants Bank is still around but it is now Merchants Bancorp.
-
Bank in our day, banks in Indiana were not permitted to have branches except in ONE county.
That law was canned so all the big banks started eating up the little banks - so now we just have a few BIG ones.

I agree.
-
Oh my gosh - how could I have forgotten Samuel Barber? Thanks, DR Ron Pulliam.
-
Sondheim is not a classical composer, but he was trained classically, and influenced by classical composers, so I include him.
-
Tuesday morning greetings! Yesterday was a busy day and I missed one very important thing:
Belated birthday wishes to DR Freddie!!!
-
So, Vixmom, will you Wordle and walk?
I'm too angry and sickened by the Supreme Court news to post.
I typed several things then deleted before posting
-
Who is to define what a classical composer is? My list would include Phillip Glass and John Adams, but some might take exception to them.
Florence Price, George Anthiel and William Grant Still wrote in more classical forms. Gershwin wrote everything. Rodgers, Porter and Yeston have all written ballets.
Why draw lines? Let’s embrace them all.
-
Late yesterday morning I drove 3 of my friends to beautiful Oxford, Ohio, where we joined several other groups of friends at Katie's bed and breakfast for a lovely end of the program year luncheon.
-
So, Vixmom, will you Wordle and walk?

I understand.
-
Later yesterday afternoon, I changed out of my lady clothes and we went to a park in Germantown to watch our great nephew J play baseball. After the game, we helped celebrate his 7th birthday. We gave him $20, his other great aunt gave him $20, and his maternal grandma gave him - his words - "a big-ass Nerf gun." His mother was mortified.
-
TOD - Does William Bolcom count?

Yes. Unless he’s secretly Canadian.

~~~STRONGEST TEST VIBES & XYLOPHONES~~~ for DR Jrand71!!!!!!!!
I like William Bolcom's music as well, DR Ginny!
I saw a performance of his epic "Songs of Innocence and Experience" at Carnegie Hall many years ago.
I'm NEVER going to be in that situation, or involved in that situation, and I am also horrified at the decision.
I have found I can hobble around my house, but outside, I need a cane. I am using my Hurry-cane that I bought sort of on a whim a couple of months ago.
It really helps. Takes a bit of experimentation in coordinating how to best use it to take pressure off my sore left leg, but it does help a lot.
-
We had a huge storm blow in, dump torrents of rain and then blow out...all in about 10 minutes. It's nice and sunny now, but we may get more rain before the system plays out.
Weather vibes, DR Ron.
Sadly you could end up knowing someone who dies from a back street abortion, or due to not being able to get one :(
See's Candy moved their store from our local mall to, almost, next door to Trader Joe's.
:) :) :)
-
Stupid me forgot we were stopping at Trader Joe's today and forgot to take my wallet with me.
-
Since Keith dropped me off and went to fill up the gas take I didn't have a credit card. As I walked up to check out I realized my error :o
-
Fortunately I had $20 in my pocket and removed what I didn't need to stay under $20.
-
That left me with just enough change to buy one piece of See's, plus my sample.
-
Tuesday morning greetings! Yesterday was a busy day and I missed one very important thing:
Belated birthday wishes to DR Freddie!!!
Thank you so much, Ginny!
-
I'm up, I'm up - maybe five hours of sleep. I don't know what's wrong other than maybe stress, but I have to fix this sleep stuff.
-
Re Supreme Court - it's not a done deal, they have not voted yet, and I'm hoping the reaction to the leaked opinion of, I believe, just one judge, will make some of the judges really think about it. Will they think about it and do the right thing? One can only pray. To paraphrase Li'l Abner - the country ain't in the very best of hands.
-
I will be playing the Chief Of Police in the July production of CLUE:Onstage.....so there is that.
-
The fence man is sitting in his truck figuring out his quote for my fence and installation and removal of the old fence.
I wonder if he is thinking of the same figure I am thinking of.....or we are even close. I shall know in about fifteen minutes are so.
-
Congratulations, JRand. Make that, Chief JRand.
-
Ushering tonight for a dress rehearsal of Rigoletto.
-
No symphony, which is still on strike.
-
Good evening!
Belated Happy Birthday wishes to DR Freddie! Sorry I'm late!
I hope your quote is reasonable.
Good evening.
I shall read from my prepared statement, and I will not be taking any questions at this time.
"The Prince is Giving a Ball", replete with its round robin of dance sequences and key modulations, is this year's top contender to be named the most unshakable earworm during a head cold. Ever.
Thank you, and good night.
-
I hear congratulations are in order for DR Jrand71.
-
Whereas most actors can't get arrested, as they say.
-
Maybe they can interpolate "I Love a Cop" from Fiorello! into the production of Clue.
-
A lull.
-
Well.
-
Maybe we can at least get
-
to a page turn
-
FOUR!
-
Before I konk out.
-
Good night, friends.
-
Sorry I missed you Singdaw. I was reading.
-
'night
-
The Book Woman’s Daughter has shipped.
I ordered the new vinyl release to Ragtime and the CD for the new Assassins and they're supposed to arrive tomorrow. :)
-
Well, our first time with costumes (but no props) run-through is going well...except for a mic issue for the lead.
-
Lawrence O'Donnell, of MSNBC, tonight said that IF the Supreme Court strikes down Roe v. Wade, it will be the first Constitutional right overturned by that court. Apparently, the original decision was made because it was deemed a guaranteed right by the Constitution.
What, he pondered, would it mean for the rest of our rights, like freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, etc.
It seems the current Supreme Court may be bent on revising what is Constitutional law and deligitimizing itself in the process.
-
Which has been solved.
Gratuitous post 100!
-
It is -- apparently -- mating season for frogs and tree frogs. There is a pine tree behind my house, and THE MOST GOSH-AWFUL noise emanates from it throughout the evening.
The frogs around the pond are also noisy, but they cannot compare to the tree frog.
The geese, which have already produced goslings, still find my yard a wonderful place to gaggle and squawk, often in the pre-dawn hours. The area they like best is outside my bedroom window.
-
There was an orchestra tonight playing with the opera. A full orchestra of what seemed 75 performers. I stopped counting at about 50 with a big section left to go. And they were wonderful.
-
Well, DR Ron, if you've got frogs, then teach them the Sondheim score.
-
Fear No More is a lovely song.
-
Ohio? What are you drinking? You must be drinking, because you aren't thinking. Vance? Really?
-
It’s getting late.
-
Time for bed.
-
But let’s get a few more posts before I go.
-
Tomorrow will be Wednesday, but it will feel like Thursday.
-
Starting a bio called The Adventures of Miss Barbara Pym, a writer I enjoy but need to read more of.
-
Maybe this will prompt me to finish her Autumn Quartet.
-
I’ve nothing left to say.
-
Except for this …
-
Good night, all.
-
Happy Belated Birthday to DR Freddie!
-
I watched ONCE UPON A CRIME yesterday. I had never heard of it, but it was directed by Eugene Levy and it was a EUGENE LEVY FILM!
-
It was fairly entertaining. A lot of actors/comedians like John Candy (not a new film), Cybil Shepherd, Richard Lewis, James Belushi, and Sean Young.
-
It was of those mistaken identity, lost dog, murdered millionairess. Very exhausting, but rather enjoyable. Oh, and George Hamilton.
-
Let’s move on.
-
P A G E F I V E !
-
Today I went to the pulmonologist office. As usual, I saw a P.A. What has happened to the medical profession? I go to all these doctor appointments, I spend about ten minutes with the PA, he makes a suggestion or two, and I plunk down $45.00.
-
And the receptionist gives me an appointment for two weeks from now.
-
No way! Tomorrow I am going to call them back and tell them I am not available for this month, or in June. This is just crazy!
-
Now that I have put it in writing, I am really pissed.
-
I have never liked any of the people in this medical office, and I have no desire to pay for their ski chalets.
-
Boy, I have got my adrenaline going now.
-
I don’t think it is that drastic. If Roe v Wade is overturned, it will go back to states rights. Unfortunately, 26 states have passed anti-abortion laws, but there are still other states where it will remain legal.
-
Washington, Oregon, and California will still allow abortions. So that will protect the Kardashians!
-
I got a pasta and marinara sauce at Fred Meyers (Kroeger’s) and I think it is trying to bother my stomach
-
I can’t be sick. Sharry and I are having our long-delayed luncheon.
-
I hope we will recognize each other.
-
Perhaps name tags are called for.
-
Today was my mother’s birthday.
-
It is strange, but after 28 years, there is still such a hole in my heart.
-
I guess it was the way we lost her.
-
Well, good night!
-
Fear No More is a lovely song.
In college for a non-performance major recital, I sang three different settings of that text, including Sondheim's. :)
-
Tomorrow will be Wednesday, but it will feel like Thursday.
And we know what Thursday is! :)
-
:D
-
I have never liked any of the people in this medical office, and I have no desire to pay for their ski chalets.
Give 'em he'll, Harry!
Please tell her I said Hi!
If you read that before you meet with her.
That's great for the women who live in more liberal states, but it won't be easy for everyone else who needs an abortion to go to another state to get one. That can be an incredible hardship for just about everyone...especially low income women. :-\
