Well, you've read the notes, the notes had skin in this game, clearly, and now it is time for you to post until the gamed cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: DESCANT!
-
Good morning, all.
-
I’ve been up since dawn’s crack. Today is band rehearsal and sitzprobe for one Mr. Rudetsky’s Disaster! in Stamford. It’s scheduled for 10:00 till 2:00, and I must be there early to “load in”, as we say in the biz.
-
First stop, gas in the car.
Second stop, coffee and perhaps a breakfast sandwich in the belly.
-
And it’s about an hour drive each way.
So I must bid you all adieu at this ungodly hour. Back late this afternoon or this evening.
-
Good morning, all!
-
DR ChasSmith, have a good time!
-
I had a rotten night of sleep. The cats behaved nicely, but my body did not.
-
I slept in an extra 30 minutes until the cats began demanding breakfast,
-
I have to write an email this morning that will most likely end the recording project. It's got to the point where I feel I'm rearranging those proverbial deck chaiers on a famous sinking ship.
-
I'm rather depressed at this decision, but I think it's the right one. I will then spend the remainder of the day watching TV and lying around with the cats.
-
Last night we watched the film of Ira Levin's play Deathtrap, which I had never seen as a play or film. I wish now I'd seen the play because I found the last 15 minutes, once Irene Worth showed up, impossible to decipher on a small TV screen. I may try to watch that again on my computer today.
-

Darn. That's too bad, Larry. :-\
-
Topic of the Day, Part I: I think the first movie with nudity that I'd seen was The Harrad Experiment. Growing up, we had HBO and I had a little black-and-white TV in my room, and as long as the sound was low enough (no headphone jacks on the TV), I could stay up as late as I wanted and watch what I wanted. ::)
;)
-
Topic of the Day, Part II: probably the most shocking nudity (but not because of the nudity) was Equus. :o And also Short Bus (but in a good way).
-
Topic of the Day, Part III: of course, The First Nudie Musical. And also Short Bus. ;D
-
Good morning.
-
I gave up trying to sleep around 3 a.m. And then I found ants in the kitchen.
-
So an early trip to the hardware store to get bait traps. And also to have the bucket of paint shaken up. I'll paint the kitchen this morning.

I am having a quiet morning, or I WAS. Slept very well, dreamed nice dreams. But now I hear my lawn is being mowed.
I am grateful for that, but I would have preferred a silent Saturday morning.
-
It should be a beautiful day here today. The sun will shine, the temperature will be warmish and my porch beckons.
-
Because of the week's several rains, our neighborhood has erupted into a sea of dandelions. The local news has suggested we leave them alone as long as we can so that bees can do their pollen-gathering. Everything happens so quickly that i fear they will suddenly turn into those little seed pods and blow all over the place possibly tripling the next round.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I slept nineish hours.
-
A week from today is the competition. Oy.

TOD 1:
Foreign films had a lot of nudity back in the 1970s, so I can’t remember the first film. But the first film with a little bit of everything was 1900. Robert DeNiro, Gerard Depardieu, Dominique Sanda, Donald Sutherland, nudity, graphic sex, sadism, bad accents, violence against animals. I had never seen anything like it back then. Years later, I couldn’t watch it a second time.
-
TOD 2:
I think a reissue of Deep Throat was the first porn flick or skin flick I saw.
-
Let’s move on …
-
Two!
-
The first film I recall with nudity was The War of the Buttons, a French film I saw in 1964 or 65 as a college freshman.
-
I prefer a movie like First Nudie Musical that takes a sunny view of sexuality to Darker, more twisted worlds of The Night Porter or Salo. Not denying the validity of the latter, just stating my preference.
-
My ex-boss’s husband last night told me he has a daughter in opera. He was telling me about seeing her in topless opera, something he did not want to see. Reminds me of nudity on stage.
Anita Morris in Nine was essentially the first nudity in a show I remember. My second Broadway show.

Musical day vibes for DR CHAS SMITH.
-
Sometimes things are for the best DR ELMORE.....
-
Yes DR TCB - I thought of the same Dr. Rick commercial you wrote about....and he did indeed buy the shirt anyway....in one of the latest commercials, he is attending a movie with his charges - it is most amusing.....
When one young lady decides to applaud at the end of the film, Dr. Rick cautions her: "No one who made the movie is here....."
-
Hmmmmm......I guess the first movie I saw that had NUDITY in it was Planet of the Apes when the astronauts were skinny dipping and their behinds were visible for several shots.
Most disturbing was probably in Salon Kitty - a German film.....with Ingrid Thulin.....
Although Kathy Bates in About Schmidt was unexpected and scary.
-
Musical day vibes for DR CHAS SMITH.
Indeed. Disaster-free Disaster vibes.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
I am back from my travels. And all caught up, to boot.
-
TOD: we saw Zeffirelli's Romeo & Juliet in high school. IN the high school. The sight of Leonard Whiting's bare bum caused quite a stir.
-
I have never seen Flower Drum Song, on stage or screen. I should remedy that.
-
I have never seen Flower Drum Song, on stage or screen. I should remedy that.
Any nudity was apparently in the revisal, not the film.
-
I am taking a break from yard work. Don't want to overdo my back. But I got a little of the wild growth taken care of.
-
DR Jrand71, I hope you got paid for the rights to your story for the commercial. Fair is fair.
-
~~~DANCING~~~ AND ~~~JOB~~~ VIBES for DR John G.!!!!!
-
Bean and tempeh soup is on the stove.
-
I'm going to make a Keto Reuben casserole. I need to run to the store.
-
From DR George:
I've only watched the first season. I need to start it up again.
I suppose when you know how it will end you aren't in a hurry to get there ;)
-
DR Vixmom am I correct that you have watched all six seasons of The Expanse?
-
From DR John:
The new place is based in New York. It's 99% remote. So, I could work from Greece.
That would be nice.
Instead I will go for a walk.
-
Reuben casserole is in the oven. I didn't realize I would be making keto Thousand Island dressing made with sugar-free ketchup. I hope it tastes okay.
-
I've started watching The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then the Bigfoot.
Aidan Turner from Poldark makes for an interesting choice as a young Sam Elliott.
Today, we're going to my mom's and having tacos. Yum!
Got Wordle in 3, Phoodle in 4.
I just had the most delicious Norwegian salmon on a bagel with cream cheese, tomato, onion, and capers. I wish now I had ordered two.
Let me know. I like Thousand Island dressing but don't eat it very often.
You are welcome.
It is a really nice day here, weather-wise.
-
After our visit this week with the mother-in-law, today we visited the brother-in-law, the one who just had open heart surgery a few weeks ago. He is home and seems to be recovering very well. But it is still a long process.
-
I'm up, I'm up - ten hours of really needed sleep.
-
I'll mosey on over to Gelson's soon - it's either going to be a lox and bagel day, like elmore, or a tuna pasta salad day, well, two days, since that's enough for two days.
-
TOD
For me, the most shocking nude scenes are those little surprises you get when you least expect them, especially from the people in front of the camera who you least expect them from. I think someone mentioned one in About Schmidt that certainly qualifies. (I do love that film, though.)
As for favorites, that's a good question. I love Nudie for all the reasons, not just for the nude scenes, but certainly for the way it celebrates the genre it's paying homage to. I have other favorites, and I'm totally blanking on them right now.
And as for the first one(s) seen -- To the best of my recall, I think my first was The Lickerish Quartet (1970), and I don't even remember the nudity or how much of it there was. The reason I even saw it was that I'd just turned 21 while at school in Cleveland, and there was a theater not far from me that showed "exotic" and "foreign" fare, and I decided to treat myself to the act of showing my drivers license and walking into an adult flick. Had I seen anything of the sort prior to that? Maybe some kind of porn, but in those pre-video (and my pre-California) days, I'm not sure how or where I would have been shown any. Someone also mentioned The Harrad Experiment, and I went to that probably expecting something wild and crazy, which I probably didn't get, and also to see Tippi Hedren in something other than the Hitchcock films.
-
Yes, that lox and bagel sounded GOOD.
-
The Disaster! sitzprobe went great, and I look forward to seeing/hearing more of the cast. Having played in a production three years ago, seeing another just a few weeks ago, and now playing in this one, I have to say that this show seems to do very well at attracting a fairly large cast that's perfectly suited to each role. It's almost scary how these indelible characters drawn from the '70s disaster films are living on in these modern day comic interpretations.
-
As for the venue, it's my first time playing there, and it's a very popular regional theater that people definitely want to work at, both onstage and off, and I'm happy to be involved. But oh my god, the physical space, insofar as the square footage allotted to musicians, and where it's allotted ..... the "pit" is a small platform high above and behind the set, 17 narrow steps up from the stage floor, that I'll simply have to measure next week to accurately report on how tiny it is. We were in a rehearsal room today, and we carried our stuff up afterward and will set it up on Monday evening. There are only six of us, but two are keyboards, plus drums, bass, guitar, and reed doubler, and I can't wait to see the resulting layout. You can probably expect some photographic evidence.
-
Has anyone noticed that it is DR ArnoldMBrockman's birthday today?
-
It was a rather large card I posted.
-
Yes DR JANE I wished him a happy birthday on the Book of Face.
-
Interesting DR CHAS SMITH - our pit is also upstairs - but it is accessed by stairs backstage and then through the prop loft or stairs from the green room through the costume shop.....but it is indeed not a BIG space.
For OLIVER! we have piano, keyboard, flute/piccolo, trumpet, and percussion.
-
Perhaps I should take a photo for the HHW denizens who toil in such places.
-
AH DR singdaw unfortunately the commercial preceded my personal experience.
-
OMG how could I have forgotten Mr Leonard Whiting's lively backside exposure in R/J?
It was of course perfection as opposed to those I saw in real life in the showers in gym class.....in fact I don't know that I have seen a better one on screen.....or DVD....or even dare I say....in life.
-
Jane- Thanks For The Birthday Wishes !
Happy Birthday, DR Arnold Brockman!!!!
Watched the Great Performances documentary on Company/Sondheim, which was enjoyable.
-
One of the talking heads was credited as the "music supervisor" of the current revival.
-
I am curious as to what duties that entails, as differentiated from that of the "music director."
-
Good night, friends.
-
Yes I enjoyed the PBS COMPANY documentary - although I thought it highlighted those who were miscast in the latest revival.
I always bought the COMPANY revival cast albums.....but quit after I realized that the original OCB really was definitive - although opinions may vary.
I recorded it and plan to watch it soonly.
Gratuitous post 99!
-
Watching something called From the Journals of Jean Seberg. It’s a film by Mark Rappaport, who directed Rock Hudson’s Home Movies.
-
Mary Beth Hurt plays a post-suicide Seberg narrating her life.
-
Good night, all.
-
Today was nothing particularly special, but it was relaxing. I guess that is "something", after all.
Managed to pick up mail and deliver recyclables to our recycle dump.
Life is grand.
-
Good night, everyone!
-
Finished with my viewing.
-
No lox today at Gelson's, so it was tuna pasta salad. Very good.
-
I are too much.
-
We had tacos at my mom's, then we played Phase 10, which I lost.
-
Then, after what I thought was a suitable amount of time after eating at my mom's, I went to Taco Bell and had a Mexican pizza and a chalupa.
-
It wasn't a suitable amount of time after eating at my mom's. :o
-
I'm still very full!
-
I enjoyed eating every bite, but it all was really just too much.
-
I've been napping and need to get up to take my evening meds.
-
So I shall. :)
-
I've started watching The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then the Bigfoot.
Aidan Turner from Poldark makes for an interesting choice as a young Sam Elliott.
The same guy who killed Hitler, also killed Bigfoot?
-
:DHappy Birthday to DR Arnold Brockman!
