Well, you've read the notes, the notes were rehearsed and released, and now it is time for you to post until the rehearsed and released cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: COMMEMORATE!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept rather well with Thatch and Annabelle watching over me. I had a strange dream in which I was qworking on the staff of a game show like "Name That Tune."
-
IU am going to the movies today. I want to see the latest Downton Abbey, and I plan to have a fantastic time. I haven't decided on the 9:45a.m. or 12:45p.m. showing, but i'm leaning toward the earlier.
-
Last night we watched Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, which I had never seen. I read the book the week it was released - where is that first edition now? did I lend it out? - and loved it. I have no idea now how I missed it when it played here in 1997. It was fun to see Dorothy Loudon in a small but juicy role, and I loved the Lady Chablis playing herself.
-
Good morning to all. Have a great day.

Weird, but non-disturbing, dreams in a night of blissful sleep.
I got up because I could not go back to sleep after checking the clock at 8:33 a.m.
Sitting her typing, I feel I could close my eyes and start snoozing again.

I hope on this Memorial Day that everyone reflects upon its purpose.
This day observes all those who gave their lives while serving our country in the armed forces.
However you may feel about our military, and the various wars in which we fought, please know that those who served felt it their duty as free Americans to answer the call to enlist and fight.
-
Well, I chickened out just before I headed out the door. I can still go another day this week.
-
Got Wordle in 3, Phoodle in 2.
-
One thing that bothered me in the Company documentary is when director Marianne Elliott makes the argument that it is unlike other musicals. She says there’s no “I want …” song. But what is “Being Alive” if not the ultimate “I want …” songs?

Maybe she means no "I want" song in the spot where we're first getting acquainted with the lead character? (I haven't seen the documentary yet.)

Congrats on the new releases, BK!

When I see and respond to HHW-ers on Facebook, I forget that I haven't been on HHW in a while.
Sorry for time going by from checking in here.

Good morning, friends.

Speaking of KFC (as DR George was last night), it reminds me of the story of the man who went through the drive-in and ordered a breast and a thigh. The server asked him, "which side?" And he replied, "Interesting question. No one has ever asked me that. Um... the right side, I guess." And the server said, "No... potato salad or coleslaw?"
-
LOL......
-
I certainly enjoyed reading about DR JANE's day!
But as for the rest, I really doubt that I will EVER watch a Lifetime Movie.....I'm too old....and there are other things to waste my time on.

afternoon, all!

From TCB to George:
Are you guys expecting your mom to mow her own yard?
I found this funny as I expect DR George will be moving the lawn.
-
From George:
I (was voluntold by my sister but) said to my mom that I'd come over every couple of weeks to mow her lawn, but she said that she doesn't want that. She WANTS to mow her own lawn because she wants the exercise.
Good for your mother. Is it an easy lawn to mow?

I didn't get around to reading or watching it till several years after the film came out, and we watched it at home -- after which I wanted to read it right away, and it turned out that Nathan had the unabridged audiobook on CD, so that was my soundtrack on a road trip I was about to take. I loved it.
What an incredible story and setting. That was my introduction to the Lady Chablis, and it was great to learn that it was her in the film. I was sorry when she died, because by then all three of us here were wanting to visit and explore Savannah, and what a treat it would have been to have seen or met her for a moment. Kristi and Nathan did take a brief vacation there shortly thereafter, and they loved the place. I still look forward to getting there.
-
I spent a day in Savannah, and I loved it. It was after the Hilton Head performances of Christmas Up the Holler[/i and we had time to kill before the flight home. Some went to Paula Deen's restaurant, some to Johnny Mercer's grave, and I looked for used book stores.
-
Thanks for the timely reminder, DR Ron Pulliam.

Pretty easy. Each side of the front is just a smallish area and the back is at least half gardens that my mom created, so the mowing area is fairly small, too.

A propos the new Bernstein docu-pic:
Two New York dowagers are walking past a Lincoln Center billboard extolling Leonard Bernstein. One says, "I hear that Bernstein is gay." The other replies, "Is there *nothing* that man cannot do?"
-
It took 47 years but that oceanography class I took in college finally paid off
I do not understand you at all.
Wink, wink.
-
I went to see Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil Live! It was in Tampa and it featured John Berendt with Lady Chablis and Emma, the lady of 1,000 songs. Margaret Whitling, Julius La Rosa, Claiborne Cary and more sang Johnny Mercer songs. The autograph line afterwards too hours. It was all fun. Campy. Silly.
-
I still have the Lady Chablis’s autobiography, Hiding My Candy.
-
2+ hours of practice this morning. More tonight. I’m a masochist.
-
Waiting for a combination green enchiladas and fajitas plate.
-
The joint is busy. And someone just came forward to blow taps on a bugle. It was touching.
-
I'm up, I'm up - six hours of sleep - I'm going back to bed in a few minutes.
-
They've not only made all the adjustments to The Ratings Game CD credits that I asked for, they added me to the cover.

Very nice.
-
After serious consideration, I have decided going to the movies is out of the question. I have too many bodily misfunctions and I move too slowly to run to a men's room. I find this quite depressing to admit, but I think I must wait for the DVD.

Keith got it in four but not due to an oceanography class.

I started watching Turning Red. I guess I didn't realize the whole plot is about a girl starting to menstruate.
-
I guess I'm slow on the uptake.
-
I don't know how much of this I want to watch.

Hugs squared.

Good afternoon!

Memorial Day greetings! It’s been a quiet holiday for us. Richard went to the ceremony at our local cemetery and, at 3pm, participated in #TapsAcrossAmerica. I was his videographer and you can see the result on Facebook (my page and Richard’s).
-
MR BK is a Coverboy at last!
-
Well I am exposed....yes I am exposed.....but not like Leonard Whiting.
It turns out that someone I was working with closely tested positive for the COVID.
I tested myself and it was negative twice.....so I am isolating myself for five days and then will wear a mask for another week. Of course I will be unable to attend the opening night of OLIVER!
-
I think any program featuring BOTH Julius LaRosa and Margaret Whiting would have been a must attend in my book.
-
So it's nice to have five days off....from EVERYTHING.
-
DR JRand, I’m hoping you remain negative. Enjoy your quarantine.
-
I guess I'm slow on the uptake.

I don't know how much of this I want to watch.
Understandable ;D

Twelve hours DR JANE.....and I think I messed up the number of drops in the first test which would have caused the positive response.
-
Thanks DR GINNY so far so good.
-
We finally got our selfie banner and installed in on the front porch of the theeder......self promotion at it's finest.

We hadn’t been aware of TAA until we saw promos for it on CBS while watching our regular programs - NCIS and FBI franchises.
-
Nice banner!

Wait, you had a positive result or are you suggesting the person who tested positive messed up?
-
I'm up again - went back to bed and have now slept at least ten hours, which I needed. Not much of a day off but when you need sleep you need sleep.
-
Nice banner!
I agree.
-
DR JANE I had a false positive - my second test later in the day was negative. I am isolating and will test again in a few days.....but I'm sure I messed up the drops in the first one.....

Excellent!

Vibes for DR JAnd
Sending “negative” vibes

Hugs for Elmore

We just had the most annoying experience at Ikea
-
But Vixdad is hungry so I’ll tell you after dinner
-
Hello, everyone.
-
DR Elmore, I know what it's like to not be able to do things that you really want to do due to health issues. It can be heartbreaking. Sometimes I push myself and just go anyway and it usually works out. It exhausts me, though, and I must then rest. It's not an easy call. I do love to watch movies at home now just because it's so much more convenient. Vibes you find a way to handle it for those movies you really, really want to see in a theatre.
-
I got today's Wordle in four, but I didn't know that was an English word. Many times Wordle has rejected one of my word choices, even though it sounded like an English word to me. Then there are the times when I SWORE there were no English words that I know of that fit the requirements and yet the correct word was quite well known to me. Today was the first time that I had never heard of the correct word. It was just a stab in the dark to find the placement of a certain letter.
-
Awaiting the conclusion of Vixmom's Ikea story.
-
DR JANE I had a false positive - my second test later in the day was negative. I am isolating and will test again in a few days.....but I'm sure I messed up the drops in the first one.....
Sorry about the confusion. I thought they had both been negative. Interesting about the drops and something to remember when I finally test. How long ago were you exposed?
-
Jane, I notice that Acorn TV is now offering FOUR SEASONS, a mini-series based on Rosamunde Pilcher's works. I suspect it's a compilation, as I've never heard of it and don't think it was one of her novels. I'll give it a try, since I like some of her work very much. Tom Conti is in it and he's always worth watching, IMHO.
-
Vibes of good health to Jrand and all the rest of us.

Thank you. I like the cast. It says it is based on her drama Summer, Autumn, Winter and Spring about the Combes family. I can't figure out which novels it is based on. Please let me know what you think. I am not sure Keith would want to watch it, though he too would like the cast.

Back from Gelson's - happily, they had lox today and good looking lox at that - so I'm about to eat said lox, bagels, and cream cheese and I don't care who knows it.
-
Lox, stock, and barrel, eh?

We are under tornado warnings again.

It has gotten very dark and ominous out.

Tomorrow is BACK TO WORK.

DR JANE exposed yesterday.

I lasted ten more minutes and the mother did several more cringe things. No.

So, my mom and I went to the casino today, and I came home $100 richer! ;D
-
It would've been $144, but I played $44 after I reached the high point and lost that. ::)
-
But my mom enjoys going so it would've been fun even if I hadn't won...just not as fun. ;)
-
Gratuitous Post #111!!
-
And now, I'm doing laundry.
-
You should have plenty of quarters, then. ;)
-
Congratulations, DR George.

TYRONE POWER is the newest one-person play in The Hollywood Legends collection
From the 1930s to the 1950s, Tyrone Power appeared in dozens of films, often in swashbuckler roles or romantic leads. His better-known films include "The Mark of Zorro," "Blood and Sand," "The Black Swan," "Prince of Foxes," "Witness for the Prosecution," and "Captain from Castile". Power's own favorite film among those that he starred in was "Nightmare Alley".
Though largely a matinee idol in the 1930s and early 1940s and known for his striking good looks, Power starred in films in a number of genres, from drama to light comedy. In the 1950s he began placing limits on the number of films he would make in order to devote more time to theater productions. He received his biggest accolades as a stage actor in "John Brown's Body" and "Mister Roberts". Power died from a heart attack at the age of 44.
TYRONE POWER, written by Michael B. Druxman, is available in paperback and Kindle editions via Amazon. Performance rights are available.

Starting a noir called Born to Be Bad with Joan Fontaine, Robert Ryan and Joan Leslie.

Had a nice Memorial Day afternoon. Was invited to a cousin's house where family gathered for BBQ, baked beans, slaw and an assortment of chips and dips and beverages. Lots of kids present, as it so happens, and they were fun, too.
Had a good time.
-
I watched "The Lost City" on Parmount + tonight.
Sandra Bullock was her usual character...rather phoned it in since the script accommodated that.
Channing Tatum was good. Brad Pitt was fun. Daniel Radcliffe has matured a bit and seems more like an accomplished actor than a kid trying to act.
I enjoyed it, but it won't be a repeat viewing.
-
Thanks for the review, DR Ron. I had wanted to see it. Maybe after I finish Turning Red.
:)
-
I'm exhausted. I'm off to bed.
-
Good night, all.
-
A very long lull! :o
-
I've been doing laundry and scrolling through Instagram vids. ::)
-
;D
-
Tomorrow, I'm taking the day off from work, but I'm meeting some co-workers for lunch.

So, the cast members of Mamma Mia! were sent a link to an unlisted (meaning, private) YouTube video.

Yeah, a four-hour lull. Seems unseemly to me.

Writing the notes.

I gotta tell you.

And have told you.

And then I wrote...
