Well, you've read the notes, the notes were the last of not Sheila but May, and now it is time for you to post until the last cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: SINSYNE!
-
Topic of the Day: the only kinds of fish that I like are fish-n-chips types or fish sandwiches, or even fish sticks...but they all have to have enough tartar sauce. :)
-
I'm off to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I had a terrible night of sleep. I was feeling sickly, the room was too warm, Annabelle and Thatch seemed to be always in my way. I did have an amusing dream that I was in the New York City Opera lobby talking to Patti LuPone about a recording project and I ran into my friends William Burden and his wife Carol Chickering and their children.
-
Speaking of warm rooms, it's going to be in the 90s today. I'm happy I'm gong nowhere.
-
Morning to everyone hope you have a great day
-
Good morning, all.
-
Tuesday morning greetings! It’s going to be hot here today, too. My friend Sharon and I are going to the library where my career began to discuss HAMNET.
-
I did not sleep well. Or at least long enough.

I loved that book. Enjoy the discussion.

Off to brave the morning traffic for an acupuncture treatment.

I wasn’t sure at first, but once into it I couldn’t put it down.
-
Yes. Hamnet took a little effort to get into it. But well worth it.
-
I've finished kitty cleanup and I am covered with sweat. It's a high humidity day here. I've also made my Access-a-Ride trips for tomorrow, and called Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo's District and Albany offices to urge her to support SARA, the current legislation on the books to protect shelter animals from psychos like the killers running the New York shelters. She's the Big Holdout.

I’m listening to The Real Jane Austen: A Life in Small Things. It’s a kind of deconstructed biography in that it is occasionally about Austen’s possessions and what they say about her.
More interesting is an examination of her juvenilia, largely burlesques of what she read. The writer, Paula Byrne, says there are even not so subtle gay jokes about the navy.
-
I’ve made it through the traffic in record time. So, now I had a 45-minute wait. Thankfully I made a mug of tea to take with me.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Nothing of note to report at this moment.
-
Good morning.
Great night's sleep.
Strange dream where I was going to a movie, went to purchase a ticket and then had a discussion with the ticket seller about my not having been in that theater for three years and was I at the same address and telephone number. I gave him a $10 bill for the ticket and found a seat. All the seats were on tiered rows and faced a theater wall. Made no sense of it and woke up.

It is supposed to be very sunny here today with a high of 90. It was overcast and foggy when I woke up, but it's clearing rapidly.
-
Good morning, all.
-
It's going to 93 or thereabouts here today, and that will be the end of our mini-heat wave.
Tomorrow, a high of ..... 67 ??
And then 80 the next day, to be followed by high 70s for a while. That will be fine with me.

I thought that book sounded familiar, so I checked my Amazon orders. I read it in 2013-14. I remember I liked it, but it was not so good as Claire Tomalin's wonderful biography.

Got home at midnight last night, from what was supposed to have been a full tech/dress rehearsal. It turned out to be neither, because after two full afternoon/evenings of just tech, they still aren't through the whole show. So last night was just running a few big numbers with mics on and the band finally in its place. If they finish with the tech today, we MIGHT get to run through an entire act, but who knows. Hey, doesn't matter to me. :) I'm doing my thing and relishing the fact that frankly, I don't have to give a damn. Plus, I know it will be good by Friday's opening.
-
Been there DR CHAS SMITH.
-
Congrats to DR GEORGE on his filthy lucre.
-
I am negative this morning.
-
DR JOHN G I love Joan Fontaine in BORN TO BE BAD - her come uppence is one of the most glorious in cinema.
And I think it's Joan Leslie's best role.
Joan Fontaine's performance here is only bested by her role in SERENADE.
-
I am negative this morning.
In a COVID-19 sense, or ... ?

My new debit card arrived. It's been validated and a payment plan set up with the heralth insurance that was $4000+ from me. When/if the property money arrives, I will pay it off.

I know this is rather macabre, but...
-
Yes DR RONPULLIAM - negative COVID speaking.....but I am a bit churlish.

George, congrats on winning again.
-
Ron, thanks for you review of "The Lost City". It sounds about what I expected.

Who is the author? Should I consider it for a book group discussion?

Do you plan to test every day?

Good to know. I’m liking it so far.

I have no idea how good Bradley Cooper will be playing Leonard Bernstein, but he sure looks like Lenny!
-
DR JOHN G I must hear about the alternate ending when you see it!
-
DR JANE since I have no symptoms, I'll probably wait until Thursday to test again.
-
I'm up, I'm up - seven hours of sleep.
-
I'm off to lunch with some friends. :)
-
I have no idea how good Bradley Cooper will be playing Leonard Bernstein, but he sure looks like Lenny!
I've been marveling over that since I first saw it a couple of days ago, and I finally had to google Cooper himself just to remind myself of what he actually looks like.
It's uncanny.
I'm sold, just based on that. I hope it turns out to be a good flick.
-
I'm going in an hour early tonight to tweak my setup as best I can.
I don't mean a keyboard or computer programming setup. The actual physical setup. I need to somehow be able to move my keyboard three or four inches (yes, I said inches) to the left, and hopefully gain another inch or two between the keyboard and the bench I plop my ass down on.
I'm not kidding. I've played in one other place that's *almost* this cramped. But this one takes the prize. It's got a reputation for it, but I had to finally see it with mine own eyes to believe it.

I’m listening to Company and was wondering about the new Bobbi version. What did they do with the lyric “She is tall enough to be your mother.”
-
Oh, my. Listened to the London cast, to answer my own question. It’s kinda garbled, but it sounds like “He looks young enough to be your son.”
Kinda icky, IMO.
-
Really don’t like these London orchestrations.
-
I have no idea how good Bradley Cooper will be playing Leonard Bernstein, but he sure looks like Lenny!
Is this being released in the theaters even for a short time?
-
Maestro is filming now. Due next year.
-
Three!
-
I finally figured out what I hate about the new Company sound. It sounds like Muzak. And mediocre Muzak at that.
-
I don’t know how hard it is to make Sondheim sound bad, but the synths here give it a 1,001 Strings feel that really isn’t alive. It’s background. It’s aural wallpaper. It’s beige.
-
This new version of Company, like the new all-gay Fantasticks, are two "why the fat hell?" projects and completely unnecessary to my way of thinking. Sometimes the answer to such cockamamie inquiries like "Can we do an all-gay version of Oklahoma!? is No.
-
Good afternoon!
-
Lost at Wordle today
-
Congrats, DR George, on your winnings!
-
It's 95 degrees here in Northern Virginia. The good thing is the humidity is only 34%,

I’m waiting for the all-male version of Inside Out. Heaths instead of Heathers. Waiter (doesn’t that sound depressing?). Mean Boys. Jersey Girls.
-
Congrats, DR George, on your winnings!
Thanks, Kevin! I need to deposit it all into my bank account soon! I also have a gallon glass jug that's about a third filled with loose change. I should also deposit that.

Or a reverse-gender Nine?? ;D
-
Did anyone see the comedy soap opera in the 70s called All That Glitters? It was a world where the genders were reversed. The women ruled the world and the men stayed home and took care of the house. My sister and I can remember watching it when we were kids.

TOD:
My uneducated palate runs to Long John Silver....
However once in 1993, I was in Baltimore with friends on a business trip with the Society of Professional Journalists [I was the assistant to the Executive Director] - and the ED took us to a restaurant he knew.
I had what what called the Ocean Rainbow [I think] with a variety of fish and other seafood delights that I still remember......it was great...and I am not even sure how many types of fish were included along with lobster, mussels, and assorted ocean goodies....
I think the salmon was my favorite, but it is a close call.
-
Looking online....it may have been the Rusty Scupper in Baltimore.

Just read an appalling review of the all-ladies 1776 coming into Broadway. Sounds like a version for folks who hate the show.

Hello, everyone.

TOD:
Fish & chips
Grilled or poached salmon
Grilled seabass
Sole in a light sauce, eg, meniere (sp?)
-
I just bought a portable CD player. I put in a Michael Buble disc. The orchestra sounds great, but Michael sounds muffled. Can any of our HHW audiophiles suggest what might be wrong? The inexpensive headphones that came with it? One of the settings? And what is EQ? Might that be out of balance?
-
I have no idea how good Bradley Cooper will be playing Leonard Bernstein, but he sure looks like Lenny!
Absolutely amazing!
-
I usually encourage people to be positive, but in Jrand's case I hope he stays negative.
-
Off to Wordle.
TTFN.

Good afternoon.

Stop. Just stop. Stop miscasting things thinking you are doing something new and exciting. Things are classic for a reason.
-
TOD: My sister took us to a fish place on the beach. Lots of tasty deep fried things.
Here in town, Pete's Fish n Chips is the place.
-
I'd been having a craving for fish and chips for quite some time, but I never quite wanted to deal with the weight I'd gain with it. When we were at Disneyland, I got fish and chips in Frontierland, figuring that with walking 30,000 steps for three days I could manage it.
Disappointing.
-
Tomorrow is Freedom Day, ya'll!
We have something fun and exciting planned.
-
I'm doing a version of Nine called Twelve. Radical, I know, but...
-
Had Taco Bell for lunch - one of them Mexican pizzas. It was okay.
-
Rehearsal coming up shortly.
-
Greetings from Curtain Call!
In the Kweskin Theatre, to be precise.
Where I am now pretty well set up, miracle of miracles.

It's creepy enough for a 9-year-old boy to have sex while slapping a tambourine. I really don't want to see that with a girl.

I loved it. Wasn't it from Normal Lear? It was in the Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman vein and I think I remember Carole Shelley from A Chorus Line in it.

Or the budget version, Six. Wait, that's another show.

Finishing up Born to Be Bad. Fun stuff, not not really a noir.

That seems like a good day to test again.

The ending of Born to Be Bad was a surprise in that the adulterous woman makes it out alive. Drives off with a car full of minks.
-
Gratuitous post 100!
-
Watching the alternate ending.

Good for you. Hope you're having fun.
-
Good evening.
-
Still nothing noteworthy to report.
-
The alternate ending, JRand, was a longer version of what happened in the film. Joan Fontaine leaves and gets into a car wreck. Instead of dying, she makes a play for her surgeon while developing a romantic attachment to her attorney. It's all in the newspapers.
-
Despite that, it's been a heck of a day.
-
Glad that you are not driving, DR Jane!
-
I could use a good slice of strawberry rhubarb pie right about now!
-
Good night, friends.
-
Goodness, I only had one drink, unfortunately it was too potent. It would have tasted better with less alcohol.
-
Today we took a lovely drive to the coast, trying to recreat a trip 4 years ago for our anniversary.
-
The lovely drive in beautiful weather was very nice.
-
The hotel is short of staff. The room is not as nice as last time, plus we feel as if we are almost in the parking lot. Still, we can see the ocean. I had to dust in order to stop sneezing.

Last time at the same restaurant we had incredibly good rye Manhattans. This time, while good, they were too strong and not as good.
-
Keith, as usual, is unaffected by the strength of the drink.

We gave reservations at a restaurant multiple people have told us to eat at.

A Very Happy Anniversary (a day early) to you and Keith!!

53 years. I know how lucky I am to still be in love after all these years.
-
From childhood to really old 🤣
-
It has been awhile since my last post.
-
And there haven't been any other post.
-
My headache and I say.....
-
'night
-
Starting tomorrow, I need to change my schedule and get to work a half hour earlier than before. ::)
-
I hate that, but I gotta do it, so I shall...hopefully on time.
-
The good thing is if I can be at that schedule, I won't have to take time off at the end of the day for most of my ushering and/or rehearsals.
-
So, that's not a bad thing.
-
I'm just not a morning person. :P
-
New notes are up.
-
Time to read the new notes.
