Well, you've read the notes, the notes sung the tune of June, and now it it time for you to post until the June cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: DAUNTLESS!
-
Happy anniversary to Jane and Keith.
-
Ditto!!
-
Good morning, all!

I slept okay, nothing spectacular. The only dream I remember now had something to do with my working in an office with long tables, and my boss was my Miami University Theatre costume designer, onkly we were working on large scores of music, not costumes.

This morning, Access-a-Ride will take me to my eye appointment. I need to get new glasses, so I'm hasving my eyes checked.

DR slingshot, as our DR George would say,. what a coinkydink. My neighbor Ann brought me a strawberry rhubarb pie in thanks for picking up her mail over the long weekend.

Happy Anniversary to Jane & Keith!!

Good morning, all.
-
Happy Anniversary, you two crazy kids!
-
So it's a Wednesday, the mini-heat wave broke, I guess I can open some windows, I just stuffed myself on a couple of bagels and paid a couple of ugly bills, and I have to jump into gear and bring my score up to date with notes from last night. Where are the hours going?
-
DR Elmore -
If you compiled into one document every one of your experiences with Access-a-Ride, right from day one, you'd have a damning history of failures vs. successes to serve up to the MTA or whoever runs this thing. I don't know how old the program is, but it sounds like it's time for reform.
(Yes, I know I'm talking about city government here. Or any government. Or whatever entity they're answerable to.)

Question for BK, and for anyone else to whom it applies:
As a pretty regular eater of bagels, I'm curious to know how you like them. For example: what type of bagel is the favorite, do you usually have them toasted or non-toasted, and what do you routinely put on them, spread-wise or otherwise?
I love bagels, but I'm very inconsistent in having them. I just happen to be on a binge right now (starting with BK's and DR Elmore's posts about the wonderful lox & bagels enjoyed over the weekend), which is why the question popped up.

Toasted egg bagels are my favorite, lightly buttered or with lox and cream cheese.

Elmore, someone needs to revive Jubilee. Pronto.

I'm up, I'm up - eight hours of sleep.

Bagels - I like a nice onion bagel. The only bagel I really like toasted is a sesame bagel.

I don’t eat a lot of bagels because of the carbs. And because I live in tortilla land, the bagels aren’t great. But I love savory bagels when they’re good, toasted or un.
Lox and cream cheese with red onion and capers are my favorite fillings. I also like just cream cheese. In the summer, a few slices of cucumber with cream cheese on a onion bagel is like deconstructed Benedictine. A fried egg can be wonderful with or without fried ham or bacon.

The bagel and lox I had last week had cream cheese, tomato, capers, ad onion, and I'm strill dreaming of another. It had just the right amount of cream cheese. Some places smother everything under too much.

I like good, firm tomato. We were talking tomato and onion sandwiches the other day. Would be good on a toasted bagel with butter. Gimme.

After the competition.

A clear victory for Mr. Depp on all three counts. She got a token on one count based on a statement not made by Depp but by his then lawyer in the Daily Mail.
-
Got the small important envelope, but not the IMPORTANT envelope, which of course causes me stress. They'd JUST gotten today's mail in, so I'll call at two and see if it came in and if it did, I'll go back and get it and go cash it. Holidays always screw the mail up.
-
Getting hungry reading these various and sundried posts.
Are people still experiencing the great American cream cheese shortage?
-
Envelope vibes for MR BK.
-
DR JOHN G thanks for the alternate ending report for Born To Be Bad.....
-
Still on hold....
-
I know cats are quixotic but I am rather worried about Thatch. He 's spent the day hiding under my bed, and he's not coming when I call him. I haven't been able to lure him out for dinner or treat. I hope he's okay.
-
Important envelope arrived, got it, did my banking, and am back home.
-
At the mail place was what looked to me like a high school girl and her two friends. This girl had her pants so low that you could seen the entirety of her lace, black thong underwear. The fact that this moron thinks that's attractive, or that her PARENTS would let her dress in public like that is just so indicative of how far taste and the world has fallen.
-
Still on hold....
Me waiting to be seen at the care clinic.

Happy anniversary to Jane and Keith -- known in this household as the people we didn't visit in Oregon years ago.

I like plain, sesame seed, poppy seed, everything, cheese...as far as I can remember, those are probably the kinds that I've had.
-
I like them toasted, but not toasted is okay.
-
And mostly, cream cheese is my spread of choice. But a plain bagel with peanut butter and a glass of milk is a pretty good combo, too.
-
Lox are not an option for me. :P

;)
-
A pox on lox, George?

Well, my doctor at the emergency clinic prescribed three treatments, an antibiotic and I think two creams.
He didn’t really do anything but look at it and grimace.
-
I’m having a good salad for dinner topped with grilled chicken and griddled mushrooms and onions.

Another mass shooting. This time in Tulsa. Four dead.

I’m enjoying the Jane Austen biography so much, I want to reread the novels.
-
But first I will listen to The Murder of Mr. Wickham.

Shall we ever get off this page?

Four is all the rage!

Four!

Starting The Four Feathers. I don’t remember seeing Ralph Richardson so young before.
-
I'm sorry, DR John G. - can you remind me of the author of the Austen biography?
-
I finally cleaned out the junk drawer in my kitchen!

I know that what is it, fish? was yesterday's TOD, but tonight's dinner was so simple and yet quite delicious. Salmon fillet, drizzled with a bit of olive oil, salt, and pepper, and baked at 425 for 12 minutes. Then slathered with lemon juice and a bit of mayo. Yum!
-
The brother-in-law was back in the hospital for a bit of heart arrhythmia, but is now back home again. Baby steps.

Good morning.
Up and at 'em rather early for me. I have my MRI at 10 a.m. at the VA in Augusta GA today.
Will hit the road at about 8:30 a.m....just an hour and 14 minutes from now.
Good luck.
Had never had an MRI before. It was a bit creepy because I was inside the machine for about 45 minutes. It went through all its procedures three times, with only a slight position shift between times.
They told me results would be given to my doctor within 24 hours.
Oddly, my doctor got the results this afternoon and contacted me. It seems there was nothing seriously wrong (normal wear and tear for my age), but he thinks that physical therapy will likely see me through the pain. If not, he will refer me to orthopedics. Don't know what that implies, but I'm willing to continue therapy in hopes things improve.

Was trying to watch a movie - but too antsy and can't concentrate on it, and it's very slow going anyway. Later, I do have to do a CVS run for Claritin-D and some Ricola.

I LOVE traditional NY bagels, but they really play havoc with my gut. I now check out every GF bagel that comes on the market, and there are many. All different, none as good as the gluten ones, but some are decent, especially if you understand that it's a different animal. Udi's plain are probably my favorite GF. I freeze them as soon as I purchase them, slicing them first, then I pop one in the toaster frozen when I want one. I prefer very light toast, so they're only in the toaster long enough to defrost and warm up.
-
Butter is on my to-be-avoided list and I never liked margarine, so I usually just eat them plain. Occasionally I'll add some jam. One of the local bagel bakeries makes a very nice veggie sandwich on a fresh bagel. Yum!

Jeanne, you shouldn't have to use an equalizer with a CD player - need more info.

Did the CVS run - no Claritin-D - just the CVS brand, which I tried once and it didn't really work. Supposedly, they're getting more in tomorrow, which I hope is true. Really annoying. I did get Ricola but they now keep the Pepcid behind a locked case - why would they do that? Every other antacid is out and available. I couldn't find anyone to unlock it, so I'll get that tomorrow with the Claritin-D.

:-XFor my dear friends, Jane and Keith!
