Well, you've read the notes, the notes had Parcheesi on their mind, and now it is time for you to post until the Parcheesi-playing cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ABEAM!
-
Topic of the Day: growing up, we had Aggravation, Sorry, Monopoly, Trouble, and Scrabble. Those are the only board games that I can remember. We also played Poker (a little bit), Rummy, and Gin Rummy, and a German card game called Watten (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Watten_(card_game)), although we haven't played those card games in years. My dad and I played Cribbage for a while. Now, we usually play Phase 10 (of course), Aggravation, Sorry, Monopoly and Scrabble.

Good morning, all!

Another lousy night of sleep. The problem is my arthritic knee and hip joints. Around 2:30 this morning, I had to clear the cats off the bed so I could ie flat on my back to stretch out my legs.
-
I need to schedule another Access-A-Ride for tomorrow. Oh, joy, oh, rapture unforeseen!
-
DR JohnG, I'm intrigued by The Murder of Mr Wickham, but I tremble for several reasons:
None of these Jane austen inspirations really capture her tone or style; I was particularly disappointed by Death Comes To Pemberley.;
Even though Lydia and Wickham are Darcy's in-laws, would any respectable upper class family invite them to supper? Never.
-
I have no plans today after I've called Access-a-Ride.
-
Thatch seems to be okay today. They've been putting up scaffolding to work on the roof and facade of the building, and sincee we face the street, we're getting all the noise and commotion, and we can watch the workmen from the window. I wonder if this isn't why he's been hiding out.
-
Sorry it’s been a busy couple of days and today looks to be more of the same
-
I’ll try and pop in tomorrow to catch up
-
And tell the ikea story
-
For now just to say Vixdad is getting stronger and scheduled to meet with the internist tomorrow
-
Belated happy anniversary wishes for Jane and Keith
-
Successful access ride vibes for Elmore

General vibes for everyone

Off to work
-
Have a great day everyone!
-
Good morning, all.
-
I’m a bit groggy from the medications. The cream did make me sleepy as promised. The ankle looks a little better, less angry red. So, hopefully healing has begun.
-
I’m sure The Murder of Mr. Wickham won’t be in Jane Austen’s class, but it was written by a friend of a friend, so I look forward to it on that level.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Thanks, DR John G.!!
-
And thank you all for the vibes.

It's another beautiful day outdoors. Temp. is currently 84. High expected to be 95.
In early June! What on earth awaits us when summer takes hold???
-
I am already perspiring at the thought of it.

TOD:
I played Uncle Wiggly as a small child. Then there was Monopoly, Sorry, Scrabble, and there were different games played at friends' houses that I remember playing but not the name of the games. One was about the world...acquiring countries and, possibly, building armies?
I also played Gin Rummy, Old Maid, Go Fish.
And, natcherly, 52-Card Pickup.
-
Time for my mornng coffee on the porch!
Am SO GLAD I got that porch re-done!!
-
DR RON PULLIAM you may be talking about RISK which we played.
Also: Clue, Monopoly, Sorry, Go To The Head of the Class, and Life.
-
DR singdaw - you throwed away some good stuff you need to get out there and go through it before the trash man comes.
-
We had a Parcheesi board on the opposite side of our checker board - but we never played it or even read the rules.
-
Thursday
morning afternoon greetings! I've spent the morning clearing out a pile of magazines - skimming back issues and recycling.

Good
morning - (damn it to hell, just missed it) - afternoon, all.
-
Family favorites, and I know I'm forgetting a few:
BOARD GAMES
Sorry
Chutes and Ladders
Candy Land
Checkers
Chinese Checkers
Monopoly - generally a long Sunday afternoon thing for us, not played on a typical evening
CARD GAMES
Gin Rummy - which we just called Rummy, very likely a simpler version
Pinochole - which my mom and dad were introduced to by their church groups, and I eventually learned it
Hearts - and other simple games, none of which I really remember
We also liked putting puzzles together.
-
I'm up, I'm up - six and a half hours of sleep. Might try for another hour or two.
-
We had the Careers game, but we rarely played it.
As for cards: I'm from Indiana, so it was Euchre all the way!
-
There's always a glitch. A deal may have been made on the Ohio property, only there's one proverbial fly in the ointment: the City of Middletown has to approve the use of the land. They've already kiboshed the last sale, which was to make it a parking lot for huge trucks. The current plan is to create a family-friendly game park . . . if the City agrees.
Oy!
-
Thank you DR TCB.
-
We are driving home now.
-
For now just to say Vixdad is getting stronger and scheduled to meet with the internist tomorrow
Excellent.
-
Belated happy anniversary wishes for Jane and Keith
Thank you.

TOD:
Monopoly ruled. But because it took so much time, it wasn’t played as much as checkers, chess or Mensch ärgere Dich nicht, a German version of Aggravation.
I also loved Masterpiece, an art market game based on paintings in the Art Institute of Chicago.
We also had Candyland, Dream Date, Life and the Bible Game.
-

More healing vibes.

Was that the Barbie game where you went around the board collecting dress, a date, and other items needed for the prom? I hated the doll but loved the game. It kept me entertained in 8th grade when I was very sick and was moved from my bedroom to the pullout couch in our den.
-
I constantly begged everyone who walked past the room to play with me.
-
It was terribly boring having nothing to do and being too sick to read.
-
Selling vibes, Elmore.
-
Good evening!

Belated Happy Anniversary wishes to DR Jane and Keith!

Isn’t your property near, or even adjacent to, the site where one of our new fire stations will be built. We passed the bond issue in last month’s election.

Who wouldn't want a family park? Vibes for DR ELMORE.

It is. The question is whether or not the city will let the buyers use the property for what they want to do with it.

I’m not sure what a “family friendly game park” entails.

So, first we have the property conundrum; then my request for food stamps was turned down. So, I called HRA to see what happened or if I should re-apply, I spoke to a lady with what sounded like a heavy French accent. She said it was because I was on unemployment.
Well, I’m not on unemployment, so she gave me a number and told me to call it and have them change the information. I called the number, was on hold for over 45 minutes, spoke to a lady who set up an appeal and who told me I had been given the wrong number.

Not one single store has Claritin-D. I'm gonna have to get the damn generic brand, which I don't like and which isn't as effective. Apparently this has been going on for two months.

Can you try a different generic brand?

It is. The question is whether or not the city will let the buyers use the property for what they want to do with it.
What if the buyers choose to buy it as an investment? Can they not buy it, because they have no immediate plans for the property?
-
That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard.
-
What if they change their mind about their plans?
-
What if they announce their plans to build an upscale retirement home, but six months later decide to open a topless buffet restaurant? Do you then have to buy the property back?
-
Good luck trying to get this money back from Elmore!
-
Today I did something really stupid. No, I did not fall off my scooter again!!
-
I was making Top Ramen, as a snack. When I pour it from the saucepan into my mug, I tend to spill some of the liquid. So, I put the mug in a plastic dish, so I don’t spill it all over the counter.
-
Today I thought I had done really well, until I picked up the mug and saw that I had dribbled. So, I picked up the mug and set it on the counter while I mopped up the plastic dish.
-
Then I went to pick up the mug to dry off the bottom of the mug. Well, instead of grabbing the mug, I shoved my index finger and my middle finger into the HOT Top Ramen.
-
First thing I thought, okay maybe the second thing I thought, was I hope Ginny sees this because I am sure Richard can relate.
-
What has happened to our six and seven pages of posts?
-
We haven’t even made it to page five (and I am having trouble typing).
-
Tonight I watched two episodes of that SUPERSTAR series. I watched Whitney Houston and George Michael. I enjoyed both of them. I had previously watched the Patrick Swayze episode.
-
There are no big surprises in the shows. You know they are all going to die at the end of the show.

That’s it?

Just me, tap dancing alone to “Me And My Shadow.”
-
Not even BK coming around to yell at me for not posting faster.
-
Well, my fingers still hurt, but I guess I will live.
-
Then I went to pick up the mug to dry off the bottom of the mug. Well, instead of grabbing the mug, I shoved my index finger and my middle finger into the HOT Top Ramen.
:o NOOO!!!!!!!

I didn’t know if my pain pill would have any effect on my fingers, but it seems to have helped.
