Well, you've read the notes, the notes were up and down, and now it is time for you to post until the up and down cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ADEPT!
-
Good Sunday morning to all.
-
One of my favorite Fred Karlin scores is from The Little Ark. It is one of three “obscure” films from the 1970s to receive an Oscar nomination for Best song
-
Good morning, all!
-
I got very little sleep last night. I trned out the lights a little past 9:30 and was still awake three hours later. I did have a bit of a nightmare that woke me right up. In the dream, which took place in the house where I grew up. I was visited by two well-dressed young men who wanted me to invest my money in some project they wer peddling, and I turned them down. They returned later, and we once again discussed whatever they were selling. As they were aboutto leave, one of them asked to use the bathroom.
-
He seemed to be taking a lot of time in there, and the other man said he would wait in the car. When the man left the bathroom, it seemed ages, I told him his companion wqas in the car. Then the man grabbed the should on my shirt and forced me through the house to the kitchen, where a knife had been set on the counter. As I broke away, the man began stabbing at me as I ran through the house. And I woke.
-
I do need to pick up some packages in the lobby, but I will mst likely spend the remainder of the day dozing. I'm very sleepy at the moment.
-
Good morning, all.
-
No word about Mom, but it’s early still.
-
Need to finish packing before leaving the hotel.
-
The hotel pool was cold and overchlorinated. I was back in the room in less than half an hour.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I have two hours before I must leave to top off the gas tank at $4.65/gal. and play a matinee.
Like MacArthur and no doubt others throughout history, I shall return.
-
Matinee vibes for DR CHAS SMITH OF THE CROWDED.
-
I will be creating two music clips for auditions next Sunday.
Since there are no scenes to read for JOSEPH - I let everyone sing and then we dance.
I will be using the hoedown from "One More Angel" - the dance between Joseph & Potiphar's wife - and a section of "Go GO GO, Joseph".

DR Lary Moore: Do not, under any circumstances, take meeting with strangers inside your apartment.

Well, you've read the notes, the notes were up and down, and now it is time for you to post until the up and down cows come home.
Funny thing about cows: We have been haviing Facebook posts recently about cows wandering down Highway 19. Four or five of them. Folks have been speculating that someone is letting them out as a joke either on the owner or the public.
It has been going on for about a week.

Poorer, too.
Local news has suggested that prices locally have not peaked and will be quite a bit higher than the nearly $5/gallon we currently pay.

Hmmmm...

Good morning!

BK, I've been meaning to tell you that CD series of French operas and operettas you like has just issued the first commercial recording of Offenbach's sci fi operetta based on Jules Verne, Le Voyage dans la Lune. It hasn't been released in the US yet.

Mom’s not doing well. She’s tested positive for covid and they still don’t know the source of the internal bleeding. She’s weak, so they’re keeping her for a while. The sound of her monitor is still driving her crazy.
-
Sunday afternoon greetings! Another quiet day for us…
-
Mom’s not doing well. She’s tested positive for covid and they still don’t know the source of the internal bleeding. She’s weak, so they’re keeping her for a while. The sound of her monitor is still driving her crazy.
DR John G, I’m sorry the news isn’t better. Your mother remains in my prayers.
-
Greetings from a lofty LOFT.

I'm so sorry, DR JohnG. Sending prayers and good wishes her way.

Ir's been a busy morning and early afternoon. I had a lot of iTunes cleanup to deal with, a coup[le of deliveries t bring up and put away. I've discovered a new fave cooking show on PBS: Welcome to my Farm. It makes me want to drag out my walker, go to Maine, and havre some lobster, clams, and oysters.
-
I am home from the wars, er, the competition.
-
DR John I forgot about Have Gun Will Travel. It should have been on my list.
-
I also forgot about The Andy Griffith Show.
-
From DR TCB:
I have never seen A GENTLEMAN’S AGREEMENT. :o Have you read it? If not I suggest watching the movie, unless you don't like the wonderful cast.
-
A year ago today, I learned my friend Karla Burns, a comic force of nature and the best Queenie in Show Boat since Hattie McDaniel, had just died in Wichita. In 1989 she was my date to see the concert of the Villa Lobos operetta Magdalena that was later recorded, and on our way home we had to stop at the Papaya hot dog stand at Broadway and 72nd Street because she wanted a snack before bed. I thought she was going to buy the place out. She had no illusions about her size.
Her career was going strong with Show Boat productions all over, a broadcast of The Comedy of Errors from Lincoln Center Theatre, and more when a car hit her in Central Park on her way to a rehearsal and she returned to Wichita for surgery. I lured her out to Chicago to be the comediemnne in a concert of Eublie Blake's Tan Manhattan, where she sang the double entendre songs like "My Handy Man Ain't Handy Any More." I always hoped we'd work together again. I loved her.
-
Just because I like a kitten with attitude.
-
From TCB:
You are correct. I did not answer the door, but I also didn’t sleep for the rest of the night. I kept expecting to hear glass breaking.
Yes, I would have had trouble sleeping as well.
-
From Tom:
Actually M*A*S*H does have lyrics. They were written for the film.
But not used for the tv series, right?
-
DR TCB I also didn't get the "it has finally happened" joke.
-
The hotel pool was cold and overchlorinated. I was back in the room in less than half an hour.
Not fun.
-

Oh, I hope the cows are having fun.

I am so sorry. Have you found out why her monitor continues to beep?

MEGA VIBES FOR THE MOTHER OF DR JOHN!

I am home from the wars, er, the competition.
The timing of this was rather bad. Aside from your "distractions", how was the competition?

Good afternoon, friends.
-
DR John G., sorry the news isn't better about your mom. May things only improve from here.
-
DR elmore3003, I have a friend whose mother was in the chorus of the original production of Magdalena.

Mom might get released today, but she doesn’t want to go. And her blood pressure is high. If it remains high, they’ll keep her overnight.

Yes. Because she is covid positive, they keep her door closed. The loud monitor is supposed to be heard through the closed door.
-
Oy.
-
Nice story about Karla Burns, Elmore. She was a gem as a performer. I can imagine she was even more so as a person.

I hope they keep her. I expect the noise of the monitor will keep her pressure up.

At least there is a good reason. They must have ear plugs or something they can give her.

I think Fred first brought this abomination to my attention. It has stayed seared into my memory years later.
If I had a hammer indeed.

I'm up, I'm up - rough night - was up at six after two hours of sleep, back to bed around seven-thirty and asleep soon thereafter, so, certainly nine hours of sleep.

I'l have to get that Offenbach.

Isn't that a song from Li'l Abner? Rag Offen' that Bach?

Good afternoon.

Prayers for your mother, John G.

I walked to the park early this morning for a bird walk with a ranger. I didn't take my camera. Of course, there would have been a few really great shots if I had.
-
I'll go back this week to get a shot of the owl nest.
-
How's Thatch doing? Is he still hiding? I hope it was just the construction noise bothering him.
-
Somehow they managed to turn off the monitor. I wonder if that means they really are going to release her tonight.
-
The day after a competition is always a low. I feel really enervated. Hope to be back to form tomorrow.
-
So, I'm chilling with Sanditon Season 2.
-
You'll love the volleyball on the beach scenes. 8)
-
That may or may not be a euphemism.
-
I just spent a few solid hours sorting through piles and threw out about 40 pounds of stuff. That felt good!
If only it weren't just a drop in the bucket.
-
Looks like we may get a thunderstorm.
-
You'll love the volleyball on the beach scenes. 8)
That's season 3. The Top Guns of Sanditon.
-
I'm juggling too many books at the moment. Hope to finish a few while on vacation.
-
The most intriguing is Read Dangerously from Azar Nafisi, the woman who wrote Reading Lolita in Tehran. It's written as a series of letters to her dead father about favorite "dangerous" books that she has read. The first is The Satanic Verses. Hard to believe that controversy is now more than 30 years in the past.

The crew will be back tomorrow. We'll see.

Not much happening here but that's okay.
Thanks to DR ELMORE for sharing the stories and photos.

I got Wordle in two today - for the first time!

I am watching The Real McCoys ---- Walter Brennan's character is really a bully and very hard to take. I think that's why I stopped watching even though my family liked it.....I think it was on Thursday evenings.....

How will she get home at this hour?

Plus the additional stress you have had to deal with.

Wow. It is a good thing she lives in the US.

I got Wordle in two today - for the first time!
Congrats.
-
Both Nook & Kindle have changed their apps on my Samsung tablet and I can no longer purchased the books using my app.
-
They don't do a great job explaining how to get the books except.
-
First I am trying to get a book from B&N since the light is too bright on my Kindle for me to read there anyway.
-
Supposedly they have a new B&N app, however, it appears to be the same app I already have on my tablet.
-
I ordered a fairly inexpensive book on the website, though in hindsight I should have looked for a free book to test if it will appear on the app in my tablet.
-
After purchasing the book it states:
Thanks for shopping at BN.com!
We'll get started on your order right away.
We'll send you an email confirming the details of your order shortly.
-
I got Wordle in two today - for the first time!
Congrats, Jrand!
-
The book shows up on my computer but not on my tablet.
-
I will try to delete my app and open it again. Fingers crossed.
-
Yay, it worked.
-
I got Wordle in two today - for the first time!
Excellent wordsmithing.
-
Worsmithery?
-
Before deleting the app I wisely added part of my wish list to my account on the website and took photos of the rest of the books.
-
Thanks, Jane. I forgot to recharge my Kindle.

'night

It’s 8:42 and still light out.

Up to episode 4. Episode 3 had a couple of great belly laughs. Plus, a distinctly Pride and Prejudice plotline has come into focus.

I have not told the ikea story

But at some point I will

You may consider that a promise

Or a threat
-
Hi, Vixmom. Your stories are never a threat, except to members of your own family, perhaps.

Strawberry seltzer is wonderfully refreshing at this time of night.
-
Episode 5 has started.
-
My niece and I went to my mom's this afternoon.
-
My sister's boyfriend also went, but my sister didn't.
-
She and her friends went to see an ABBA tribute band that they were supposed to see a couple of years ago, but was postponed until now, but they stayed overnight in the town where it was and just got back this evening.

This is a picture of the real ABBA.

I don't know which ABBA tribute band they went to see, but my niece said that they really liked the show.

And John, we really want to know all about the competition.

I agree! ;)

Poorer, too.
Local news has suggested that prices locally have not peaked and will be quite a bit higher than the nearly $5/gallon we currently pay.
We are already over the five dollar price. Regular gas was $5.19 today at Fred Meyer.
-
The gas continues to inch up a penny a day.
-
Now, my friends have a new excuse for not driving out here.
-
At least these gas prices will give me an added incentive for not doing any more theater.
-
At least these gas prices will give me an added incentive for not doing any more theater.
That definitely is a consideration. I was thinking about auditioning down in Centralia again (they're doing White Christmas), but I haven't decided, yet.
-
I can't remember - did dear Jane get a copy of my latest book? I can't seem to get it on Barnes and Noble - they've made something very difficult and I can't figure it out - Amazon is, of course, easy. But I know she can read Kindle.
-
And why are we on page five exactly?
-
Or to put it another way, why exactly are we on page five?
-
Most unseemly.
-
It just isn't done.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
Where in tarnation IS everyone?
-
Certainly not here. Even those who are here don't seem to be here.
-
It's a mystery inside a conundrum.
-
I could, of course, order a sandwich from somewhere, but why?
-
It was a reasonable calorie day so I should leave it at that - just around 1000 to be exact.
-
I'll try to be strong.
-
Apparently, there is no page six.
-
From DR TCB:
I have never seen A GENTLEMAN’S AGREEMENT. :o Have you read it? If not I suggest watching the movie, unless you don't like the wonderful cast.
I am not much of a Gregory Peck fan, but I mat try to find it.
-
Page six isn't showing up.
-
Page five is. Gentleman's Agreement is a really good film.
-
And Peck is great in it.
-
And why are we on page five exactly?
Because we got past page four!
-
Is someone trying to gaslight me - where the HELL is page six.
-
At long last, Page Six! :D
-
Finally!
-
At least these gas prices will give me an added incentive for not doing any more theater.
That definitely is a consideration. I was thinking about auditioning down in Centralia again (they're doing White Christmas), but I haven't decided, yet.
Oh wow! That would be fun for you. Is Richard directing?
-
Whew!
